"Diners line up for Market Street Cafe’s famous special: savory oxtail soup served from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. This late-night restaurant at the California is also known for Hawai’ian specialties including loco moco, hamburger steak with macaroni salad, and miso-marinated butterfish. Diners can even find Zippy’s chili." - Eater Staff, Janna Karel

"There’s bound to be a day during your stay in Vegas when nothing goes according to plan. You overslept, someone isn’t answering their phone, and you missed the omelet station at this morning’s breakfast buffet. Thankfully, there’s always Market Street Cafe in the California Hotel. It’s large enough for last-minute groups, and everything on this Hawaiian diner’s menu is great. The two real standouts, though, are the prime rib special (available from 4-10pm) and the oxtail soup, which is only available after 9pm. Just be sure to look at your phone while you’re eating, in case that one friend finally decides to respond to your frantic texts." - edward thompson, gabe bergado

"There’s something magical about oxtail soup after a night of bar hopping. Diners can experience the restorative powers of the dish for themselves from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. at Market Street Cafe inside the California Hotel for $9.99." - Krista Diamond

I have been coming here with my dad since I was a little kid. Now I get to share this place with my kids. It is one of the reasons why I make my way to downtown on every trip. Prices are reasonable and they serve all your Hawaiian favorites. From Portuguese sausage, Spam, Loco Moco to Fried Chicken...everything is great and just as I remember it from the islands. Don't forget the side of mac salad!

Market Street is a hidden gem that offers incredible value, and this particular hotel exemplifies that experience. Aloha truly resonates here, evident in the restaurant's delightful offerings, which include oxtail soup, saimin, musubi, Portuguese sausage, Vienna sausage, butterfish, and short ribs — the menu is a celebration of flavors! My personal favorite is the 11 PM - 6 AM oxtail soup special. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay up late enough to enjoy it during this visit (I was still full from a delightful dinner of yellowtail at the Bellagio — be sure to check out my review!). Nevertheless, Market Street is always a must-visit when I'm in Downtown Vegas. The relaxed vibe, fantastic atmosphere, and the warm hospitality from the islanders make it a truly memorable experience. During this visit, we enjoyed a satisfying lunch comprising a delicious club sandwich and fries, saimin, and a hearty breakfast plate featuring pancakes, tocino, eggs, and rice. Everything was delicious, and we left as happy campers with full bellies! If you're in the area, make sure to stop by for a taste of island-inspired cuisine.

Our server was great. Got seated right away. The kalbi was good, maybe a touch of too much salt. The biscuits and gravy was standard. Teriyaki Chicken was good, the chicken was tender. No local discount but they do validate parking. Additional photos on my profile page and videos on my YouTube page

It's charming in its own way. Away from the glitz and glamor of the strip, it's down home for a reasonably priced meal with a bigger portion. Not buffet, but like a buffet. The staff are business, not much small talk, take that how you will. The food is passable, it's not super tasty but it's filling and well-priced as aforementioned.

They got rid of their natural cut fries for their burgers and sandwiches. They now went cheaper and have these greasy ones. That alone is a reason to stop going for me. That is a downgrade of food quality. Also all the prices have been removed from their website and the prices inside went up $1. The place has gotten even worse. Ordered the Philly again and this time the entire sandwich was greasy and the fries unseasoned.

This restaurant is a staple for my family when we visit Las Vegas to the point that it don't even think about much when we're here, but something happened on my last visit that made me think that I need to stop taking this place for granted and appreciate the work that this staff actually provides to us. When you come in, it looks like a diner; it's nothing special. The service is friendly and quick. There's a lot of options on the menu. Food is really good and usually well seasoned. If there's an issue, don't be afraid to say something. They want you to have a fulfilling meal when you visit. I had Wendy as my server (first time) and she was so cool. Very friendly and checked in on us frequently. We ordered the Miso Butterfish, but this is the first time the sauce was off. It was almost teriyaki sauce sweet, but because that's how the sauce was made that day, it was what it was. She was nice about trading out the dish for a new butterfish, no sauce (per our request), no fuss, no big deal, didn't make us feel like a-holes about it. Just, "ok, I can do that", took the dish, and walked out with a new plate. A sidebar, I haven't seen this person in my past few visits, but Patrice has the BEST personality and does a fantastic job taking care of you. I miss them; they always a highlight of my visit when I see them. We've had so many dishes here that have been wonderful, so there's nothing I wouldn't recommend. My go to is saimin, won ton min. It feels like home to eat it.

Not only one of the most underrated places in Vegas but, also anywhere Ive been. The late night oxtail soup was another level of delicious. Only served between 11 PM to 6 AM but, well worth it after a long night in Vegas and around Fremont. They have a big menu with a bunch of Polynesian and western specialties to try!

I always enjoy dining here. Gtrat spot for late night eats. The Oxtail Soup is always a hit for a lot of people, especially visitors from Hawaii. I've had the saimin, fried saimin, Filipino breakfast, just to name a few. 5 Stars for some dishes. I will tell you that the Filipino breakfast is not how it used to be. The meat they use now is hard. It's not bigger cuts and tender. Wish they'd go back to the meat they used to use. (I spoke to someone who works in the kitchen, and this person told me the new chef changed it. And lastly, dont order the fried won ton. It's a waste of money. Booo, but I'll still return.
