The Best Restaurants In Bentonville

"The smell of roasted cocoa beans does all the heavy-lift advertising for this tiny chocolate factory in the 8th Street Market, as do displays of chocolate creme brulees and truffles. It’s pretty much the Wonka factory of Bentonville, complete with hot or iced chocolate and a variety of boozy stuff made with melted chocolate. Order at the counter and the chocolatiers will bring your dessert or drink to your table, or just swing by to pick up a gift for someone in your life who will appreciate a fascinating chocolate tea made from cocoa bean shells." - ryan bernsten

I bought three different chocolates from them, and loved them all! Delicious organic chocolate bars… the atmosphere is amazing too! I was impressed with the girl that was working there, she was alone and the store was full but she was very friendly to every customer, and got through the rush fast. Wish all the best for her!

Whenever I am traveling, I always research the best chocolate shop at my destination. I was more than a little bit surprised to find a bean to bar chocolate maker in Bentonville. We walked over to the shop prior to our dinner reservation on Thursday evening and I immediately fell in love. The store was super cute and the chocolate selection was extensive. Bee let us know that the majority of the chocolates are gluten free, walked us through our flavor options and let us taste some of the chocolate bars. Everything we tried was smooth and delicious but in the end we purchased the souther pecan bar, harvest party bar and peppermint pretzel bar along with a box of truffles. All of the truffles were amazing but I highly recommend the coconut, pistachio and mocha truffles. As someone who considers themselves a chocolate connoisseur, I was really very impressed!

Google
Markham & Fitz delivers a fantastic chocolate experience! We tried The Classic Hot Cacao, Pistachio Truffle, and Chocolate Mousse, and each item was truly top-notch. The Chocolate Mousse with its kick of sea salt stole the show—rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced. The Pistachio Truffle was decadent, and the Hot Cacao was comforting and flavorful. While the chocolate creations were flawless, the ambiance could use some improvement to match the exceptional quality of their offerings. Overall, a must-visit for chocolate lovers seeking unique and memorable flavors!

Google
I was really impressed with their website and liked the people who started the company and their values. So I was looking forward to getting the chocolates I ordered - 15 pieces for $54 including shipping and tax. Sad to say, my wife and I sampled some of the chocolates as soon as they arrived. Our benchmark for comparison is Leonidas chocolates (milk and dark). M & F just doesn't have the same richness, depth and mouth feel that comes with Leonidas. I still like the founders of M&F and their values. Hopefully, they will try Leonidas and up their game.

As a Dubai Chocolate lover, I was SO EXCITED to try the new Dubai Chocolate Bar at M&F. The ladies at the counter were very sweet, and insisted they were worth their hefty price ($20 per bar) and I bought two. Tried it as soon as we left, it was not good. The chocolate immediately melted, (like upon taking out of the package as soon as my finger touched it) and the pistachio filling was SO OILY and had no flavor. Just sugar. It wasn’t more pasty like how Dubai Bars normally would be, and the flavor profile was just not there. I’ve been coming to M&F since they first opened, but I wouldn’t recommend the Dubai bar, but most of their other inventory is good.

My sister and I did the wine and chocolate class with Grayson. I cannot recommend this enough!!!!
This was really wonderful. We got a quick history of Markham and Fitz, an in-depth tour of the step by step process of how chocolate is made (and the different machinery used to make it), and a ton of different samples. The wine was well-paired and the background on how different chocolates were made and the different chocolate regions (and how they were similar and different) was really interesting. Grayson was great at giving us a tour and background on chocolate and M&F.

Google
Had a great experience here! Nothing to complain about just flavors weren’t really hitting for us but you should absolutely try it! We had the raspberry chocolate tart. We felt the raspberry really overpowers the chocolate so we couldn’t really enjoy the chocolate part. We also had the mocha truffles that were fantastic! The overal vibe of the place was hopping and expect people to be there!

Google
I love EVERYTHING about Markham & Fitz!! From the chocolate bars, delicious desserts and drinks, to the chocolate tasting classes, everything is simply amazing! The atmosphere is the cutest and the people are so kind! It’s one of my favorite places to go for a little treat!!

Yelp
We decided to stop by on a busy Saturday afternoon and we were immediately greeted by the staff who took the time to explain each chocolate and how/where it's made. We were explained the different notes of flavor in the chocolates too, which was very impressive! The prices are a bit high but well worth it. The chocolates are beautifully designed and the taste? Each has it's own unique flavor, but the freshness and creaminess is definitely in each bite. These chocolates are not overly sweet ether which is perfect for us! There is no waxy aftertaste like you find in a lot of cheaper chocolates. You definitely get what you pay for...which is quality! The chocolates are packaged beautifully in little gift boxes. Now this store is small and there isn't a huge variety, but they do have other things other than chocolates. They have cookies, tarts, and puddings of sorts. Everything looked heavenly! There is ample room for sitting indoors or outside while you enjoy your sweet treats! I'm honestly impressed. Will return!

Yelp
Wow, amazing chocolate we've been enjoying delivered and gifting to loved ones, but so sorry we came all the way from Texas to be treated so rudely.

Yelp
Dessert after beers at Bike Rack and a wine/charcuterie at Sweet Freedom, we stepped into Markham & Fitz for dessert. Not much that is keto here, that's for sure! I watched my friend choose some truffles for later and a pastry for now and a chocolate coffee, so I enjoyed a "Happy Goat Ice Cream" that was really amazing. Friendly service and a neat little shop. It was quite busy on a Saturday evening and the one gal working was definitely hustling. She needed another helper for sure! [Review 665 of 2024 - 335 in Arkansas - 21696 overall]

Yelp
I will never say no to a chocolate shop, so this was a very pleasant surprise while visiting Bentonville. The shop itself is adorable, and I'm so glad we stumbled upon it while out for dinner. I don't know that I would have found this on my own if we weren't already here for dinner. It is so cool to see how they make everything from the cacao bean to the finished product. I love that they have such a variety of options - chocolate bars, truffles, caramels, drink mixes, AND THEN - they have freshly baked goods and a little bar where they serve drinking chocolate (hot, cold, frozen) as well as alcoholic beverages. So many options! I purchased 3 bars and I wish I had gotten a few more. The Southern Pecan, No. 1 Fan, and Harvest Party were all phenomenal. I will be buying each of these again and I would recommend them (so long as you do not have a nut allergy). The chocolate is pricier than your average chocolate bar, but the experience and quality of chocolate is so much better, and definitely worth it. I don't have any plans to return to Bentonville, so I am grateful that they have a shop online. These will be great stocking stuffers for the upcoming holidays... The lady helping us was so helpful and polite. We really had a 10/10 experience. If you like good quality chocolate then Markham & Fitz is worth the stop if you're in Bentonville.

Yelp
Purchased all the goodies for an event and everything was so delicious! I love that we have a local chocolate factory! Not only can you buy things in the cafe, but you can order online! If you get the chance, check out the cafe for specialty cocktails and alcohol free options!

Yelp
Be sure to check out their website for events. Some of my best M&F visits have been for tastings, or one of their dessert tasting events. The chocolate is delicious and friendly staff. Be sure to check them out when you visit 8th Street Market!

Yelp
What a great chocolatier. Friendly staff who explain the very basics and show how chocolate is made. There is zero pretense and only terrific products. This is a must see.

Yelp
Girls trip! We had to pop in. We got a yummy shot of sweet goodness. I bought a Dubai chocolate for later with wine. All so good. Service was great!

Yelp
Quaint little place buzzing with fellow chocolate lovers! I was looking up their menu while having dinner and thought I'd pick up dessert from here. They have lots of items to choose from but one truffle stood out for me - Sea Salt Pistachio! OMG! It was sweet and salty delicious! It was, however, a bit pricey for me - 4 tiny truffles for $10! Ouch!

Yelp
This place is SO cool! My boyfriend had heard about this place from someone at work, so we decided to check it out one day after lunch. We were blown away about how unique this place is. The first time we went, once of the workers was showing a group of elementary school kids the process of making chocolate from a cocoa bean. I wish that was my field trip as a kid! My boyfriend and I both got an iced chocolate drink. They were both super rich and delicious. The next date night we had, we went here for dessert. As someone who loves sweet drinks, they have a huge assortment of sweet cocktails. I had the salted caramel drink. It was super sweet and rich, but delicious. I went into a food coma after. We will definitely be back to try more of their delicious chocolate and drinks!

Yelp
Sophisticated, cozy vibes. Highly recommended the sea salt caramels and grande Marne truffles. Adorable small business, would go back again and again.

Yelp
This is a very cute little place. I had a sipping chocolate and a chocolate martini. I loved both drinks. The chocolate martini was strong!! It was definitely worth it. Their chocolates are also yummy. We bought the almond one and a plain one. Our group loved all the things we had. Highly recommended. The prices are a bit high but it is because their chocolates are fair trade. This is a pretty clean place to have a drink with friends. There was a fly in the shop but overall it was clean.

Yelp
Well, this was a fun place! Friends took us for a tour which included tasting a chocolate tea and bite size pieces of the chocolate bars they sell. Included in the tour was a free bar of our choice. Our tour guide, Michael gave us a 90 minute tour of the process and we had a great time learning g about the production process that makes the sweet taste of chocolate. For those wanting something different to do while in Bentonville, come on down!

Yelp
To be honest, I didn't like any of the $60 chocolate I purchased. So why the four stars? Because I know that's my personal preference. I just don't like dark chocolate, but I can tell the chocolate here is very high quality. I did think the chocolate cake should've been a bit more moist. It was quite dry. I took off a star because of the poor customer service skills from the guy with an accent. When we came in, he didn't say anything to us. Just stood behind the counter and waited. When we interacted with the female employee who was there, it was so much better. She took the time to explain the process to us, show us how the chocolate was made, and gave us samples. She was absolutely amazing.

Yelp
My friend took me to the 8th street market, and we wandered in here after we ate. We got a two pack of the traditional Truffles, made with Haitian chocolate, to help support the people of Haiti! Soooo good!! Lots of tasty treats in this place, you should def check it out!!

Cynde R.

Yelp
Great team behind counter! Knowledge of products, friendly and gave recommendation on local food stops. Head there every time I'm in Bentonville. Give them a try!

Jen B.

Yelp
Great little chocolate shop! We had the chocolate soda (not too sweet) and chocolate mouse, delish! We grabbed some marshmallows and a chocolate bar for the road. It was a Sunday so no activity in the kitchen... maybe next time! Will definitely return!

Yelp
Why is this shop not also located in Austin, Tx? Wow, to have an authentic chocolatier is something to behold and not to be taken lightly. I do not EVER consume chocolate martinis as after trying one many years ago, I found it to be rather bland, but when visiting an actual chocolatier, one must venture out and whoa, Nelly! The martini was decadent, extremely smooth, creamy and gave me quite the buzz. We ordered drinking chocolate for my son that came with a homemade marshmallow and it too was dreamy. The bag marshmallows you buy at the store have nothing on these homemade pillows of fluff. I wanted a bite of everything but in an effort to tamper my sweet tooth, we settled for slices of chocolate cake to go. We sat them out at room temp about an hour before we consumed them and it was delicious! The chocolate is very rich and worth every calorie you consume. Honestly, if you are afforded a mention in Food and Wine magazine and you make Oprah's list, what more needs to be said?

Yelp
Came here for dessert tonight - Yum! I have been wanting to try them for a while, because chocolate. I love chocolate. The ambiance and decor inside is awesome and very current. I love the vibe. Customer service is awesome as well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They have a handful of tables inside where you can enjoy your desserts! They have a menu for different kinds of drinks - chocolate, cocktails, smoothies, chocolate shots, etc. I did not try any of them, but I'm interested to try them at another visit. We ordered three desserts: chocolate cake, raspberry tart and chocolate mousse. The chocolate cake was probably my favorite out of the three. It was in between dry and moist, and not too rich - which I prefer otherwise I feel sick after I eat really rich cakes. The raspberry tart was good - it was raspberry with chocolate underneath. I wasn't a huge fan of the crust, but we just ate the filling - yum! The chocolate mousse was good, but it was on the salty side. I didn't mind it because I do like it when sea salt is added to some desserts. I definitely want to come back to try their chocolate bars. I love pure cacao and dark chocolate. Check them out!

Hallie D.

Yelp
Took me a little bit to actually find the shop, but once I did the actual cake was delicious! You can definitely tell it is high quality chocolate. The woman working was nice and professional. You can see them making chocolate in the back of the shop as well. It was a cute store and had a welcoming vibe.

Yelp
Love organic! Love Chocolate! We had the chocolate drink last time and had to come back for more! Love the workers !!! So friendly and amazing!! They have a full bar - adults def stop by!!!!

Yelp
Ok, I've struck gold in Arkansas! I love when serendipity takes you some where you hadn't intended and it turns out for the best. This place has some amazing chocolate. And one of the owners was nice enough to let us in when it was closed because he could see me salivating from the window and explain to him that from out of town and I'm at a chocoholic and I needed his help. It was very gracious and spent some time and really knew what he was talking about in terms of chocolate.

Paula K.

Yelp
Such a limited selection. I was disappointed as we had expected a bakery. Didn't end up purchasing anything, therefore, can't comment on the quality of goods
google avatar

Jeanette L.

Yelp
Basically a wonderful experience. Like walking into a millennial willie wanka small factory minus the somersaulting wanka and oompah loompahs. Their passion for chocolate is the same. It's something really neat and worth going to once or five times. Customer service is great and staff is helpful. You can even see part of what's going on. The flavors are amazing and will knock your socks off. So will the smell of cacao? I imagine the smell in there is what pure cacao is? We sat outside to enjoy our little bits of happiness. Definitely will be back ASAP basically cheat days and after swimsuit season

Yelp
Return visit: everything as good as the first time! Holy cow! Go to here! What an amazing chocolate shop!!! Stumbled upon this when in the area. They have tours which I will definitely go on next time. They were very kind, knowledgeable and proud of their products as a staff. They offered samples of each of the chocolate bars, had an incredible alcohol bar, and delicious salted caramels. Go here and you won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Great evening closure rendezvous with my wife and daughter. This is a small chocolate boutique that transforms a variety of origin-based chocolates from different Caribbean, Central, and South American Latin countries into magical "drinks, desserts, confections & cocktails". We ordered a Lemon something truffle, a raspberry something truffle (can't remember the exact names-lol) and a couple of caramels. We also had three lattes. I have to say that the moment I walked in I started gaining weight! Lol Everything looks deliciously sinful. We enjoyed our rendezvous and satisfied our "sweet" palate desire.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is such a cute place to get your chocolate fix! They have chocolate desserts and drinks of all kinds. We stopped by for a quick sweet tooth fix and it was hard to narrow it down. We ended up deciding between the chocolate cake, mousse, or tart and went with the mousse since it was the lighter option. The mousse was topped with chocolate shavings, slithered almonds, and sea salt. The salt helped balance the sweetness of the chocolate so it was a nice mix of flavors. We also ordered two truffles (sea salt pistachio and mocha) that were great but didn't blow me away. The sea salt on the pistachio really overpowered the chocolate taste. If you're thirsty but don't want a chocolate drink, they offer water so you can help yourself. They have plenty of seatings inside but some outside, too. It's a really cute place to meet friends, work remotely, or come study. It's an open space so you are all their ingredients and equipment in the kitchen. I think it would be cool to come when they're making their baked goods and watch. The guests beside us got the tart and was raving about it so I will be back for it!
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
This little, local chocolate factory is one of the coolest places in Bentonville! The man who owns it knows so much about chocolate and is a pleasure to talk to! The store is a great study spot too for students who need to get away from campus for a while (and have a huge sweet tooth). The drinking chocolate is amazing. It's thick and luscious. I got mine with almond milk and it warmed my soul. The salted caramel tart is really rich and I split it along with some mousse between my parents and I! They have a really interesting cocktail menu centered around chocolate as well!
google avatar

Barb F.

Yelp
Great little chocolate shop with delightful service! Rachel was very helpful. They have house made chocolates, desserts and a bar for chocolate based cocktails....
google avatar

Talara T.

Yelp
Such a cute little chocolate shop located at 8th Street Market! Their shop is modern, with a pretty wallpaper printed accent wall. The staff were welcoming and helpful with their menu. They have chocolate bars, pastries, caramels, coffees, and other chocolatey drinks. I grabbed a couple 2-packs of their sea salt caramels, which were to die for!

Yelp
How wonderful to find a high end Chocolatier here in NWA. I found Markham & Fitz on Instagram and I was excited to finally come try their chocolates. I've been to Jacques Torres Chocolatier store in New York with my daughter, where I was treated to the most amazing decadent hot chocolate I've ever had and a delicious chocolate chip cookie. So I'm familiar with great custom chocolate. Markham & Fitz's Brown Sugar Bourbon Chocolate Chip cookie was decadent and delicious, I say (was) because we ate the whole cookie already, lol. We also bought a slice of their 6 layer chocolate cake. I chilled it in the refrigerator at home before serving. I find that chilling a cake with a light mouse type frosting, firms it up and tastes better. Just a preference. The cake was moist and had a very rich flavor. Scrumdillyumptious!! We also bought two Chocolate Bars, the Southern Pecan and the R & D 67% Dark Milk made with beans from the Philippines, after tasting the variety of samples. Pricing is high end because Chocolatiers are very different from chocolate makers. Chocolatiers create chocolate from the cacao beans ( hence the phrase Bean to Bar) and then go on to create delightful confections with the chocolate they've created. Markham & Fitz buy cocoa beans from around the world and import them to create their unique flavors. That's why the R & B bar with beans coming from the Philippines is $16.00. Which in all honesty is not that bad for a specialty chocolate. These are the kind of chocolate bars you only have a little piece of because they are so rich, so they last awhile. I can't wait to come back and try their hot chocolate in the fall, I hope it's as thick, creamy and rich as the one had in New York. I'll let y'all know. If you like alcoholic drinks they have a nice variety of liquor that they add chocolate too. I don't drink so I can't tell you about the drinks. Service was extremely prompt, friendly & good! Way to go!!! Bravo! Tracy was very informative, explaining every detail while we nibbled on all the samples she placed in front of us. Thank you! Markham & Fitz also offers a 90 minute tour for $20 a person. That sounds like a fun thing to do. All in all a great experience today.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
Brownie time dag. God damn. Chocolate chip cookie. Why. Why do I have to come to Arkansas to get this kind of food experience. I'll tell you why. Freakin worth it

Yelp
A chocolate factory with a BAR. This is a deliciously dangerous place. The cashier was kind and helpful as I faced the difficult choice of what to get. I ended up choosing a Fall in Russia cocktail, using almond milk instead of half & half, which was citrusy, spicy, and, ahem, potent. So it was a good thing I had selected my additional chocolate treat when I ordered my drink : a chocolate sea salt caramel. It was small and delectable, with a perfect sprinkling of salt atop to bring out the flavors in the candy. This place is in indulgence for sure, and I would love to return.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in for a tour. What a great place. We love bean to bar chocolate and learning about the process. They have so many great baked goods, confections, alcohol and non alcohol chocolate drinks and just great chocolate as well. The tour was a bit pricey at $20 but you do get a bar to go and a nice amount of samples. I hope they start selling their chocolate in my area soon.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
This chocolate is delicious and smooth. Tonight I tried the grand mariner truffle, the original truffle and the mocha truffle. They are made with 75 % cocoa and although that sounds high it isn't bitter at al. They are all fantastic. They aren't over sweet but have a smooth finish. My favorite thing about this place though was the guy that helped us. He was so nice and friendly and extremely knowledge about The business and chocolate in general. He really made our trip extra special!
google avatar

Brooke S.

Yelp
I love the idea of a specialty chocolate shop, but in practice it was disappointing. I went on a weeknight around 5pm and the glass case was almost empty, so I had very little selection of food. They did have some offerings of creme brulee, truffles, and wrapped chocolate bars. They mentioned samples, but I didn't see any, so you must have to ask for those. It would be nice to have samples more readily accessible. I got the 60% dark hot chocolate with almond milk. It was delicious and rich, but cost $9. I think that's crazy overpriced for 12 ounces in a paper cup. The shop is cute and has nice seating areas where I could see myself lounging around or working on a laptop.

Yelp
My husband and I came here to talk one night and what a place!!! First off when you park, you can park on the side of the building that Markham & Fitz is on but we had parked on the side that brightwater and a brewery was on and we had to walk allll the way around the building, which I'm glad we did because now we know where everything is. When we entered we looked at the chocolates and waited to order, they had paper menus on the counter that we looked at as well. When we got up to the counter a younger girl came out and asked us if we had been there before (it was our first time) so she told us about the store and she was so pleasant and knowledgeable of the products! We were undecided so she said she would come back after we had a minute to decide and then another guy came out and was also very knowledgeable and let us sample any of the chocolate that we wanted. We ended up getting the lavender chocolate bar and the milk and nuts chocolate bar. Lavender is my absolute favorite flavor of everything and this didnt disappoint! My husband doesn't like dark chocolate so the milk chocolate with nuts was right up his alley. We also tried the cookie, a piece of cake and two of their chocolate alcoholic beverages.

Yelp
Oh my goodness what a hidden gem! Best cocktails of my life paired with the best chocolate?! I didn't want to leave! Such an amazing place!

Yelp
Visited for the first time with my daughter for dessert after dinner at Yayo's next door. I ordered the Chocolate Manhattan, some truffles and the salted chocolate mousse. The drink and truffles were excellent but and really did not care at all for the mousse. Nice concept and dessert place also to purchase your chocolates.

Yelp
Yum yum! Awesome customer service! The cake was a little expensive but it was good (only served on weekends). Moose and cookie were even better! Perfect portions and light. Drinks were strong and delicious so this is the place to get a DRANK!! Instagram worth spot to hangout and have a good dessert.

Spaceyeats ..

Yelp
Raspberry tart was liquid.. asked if that was normal or if it would set up and was rudely told "it's fresh". Flavor was ok but it was just hard to eat and honestly not worth the money. Nothing here is, disappointing for sure.
google avatar

Donya Z.

Yelp
Stopped in because I heard about the place from a friend and I was very pleasantly surprised! I ordered a 75% dark hot chocolate and it was delicious! They have options for soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk as well. They sell chocolate by the bar or piece. They also have chocolate cocktails available, and snacks like croissants and cookies. Definitely recommend for chocolate lovers!
google avatar

Yelp
Great little shop in Bentonville, AR. Very friendly staff, we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. After being greeted we were offered some samples of various chocolates. All of the samples were delicious. One of the best samples was described as an award winning lavender honey something or other (can't remember exactly, but lavender was in it!). Unfortunately they were out of this particular chocolate therefore we couldn't purchase any to take home with us. Now I have to say the almond, dark chocolate, and sea salt bar I got was awesome. I also tried one of the bourbon cookies and it was excellent. I will be back in Bentonville in a few weeks, hopefully they have that lavender chocolate available... then I will have no problem bumping them up to a 5 out 5 's!

Yelp
This is such an awesome locally owned business. It's great for a date night or just a sweet treat. They also host really unique events that are fun to attend. A gem in NWA. Oh and everything tastes so good.

Skylar A.

Yelp
Worker gave us great information and had great service. The drinking chocolate is very good but this place is definitely overpriced.

Yelp
Check this place out. Local. Involved in the community. Passion for chocolate. Top notch customer service. The freezing rain closed down most of the center but the team making late night chocolate welcomed us in as the only patrons and made us feel very welcome with samples, information and an eagerness to make us tea, coffee and direct us to the chocolate we would like the most. Try the grand mariner chocolate and the lavender chocolate - you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Cute shop! Really enjoyed the aesthetic and design choices. As a chocolatier, I really loved seeing all the equipment going in the background! I got the Mexican drinking cocoa, the sea salt caramel bonbon, and a classic truffle as well as a lavender bar. The drinking chocolate was lovely! Very well balanced spices and not TOO spicy. Warming and sweet but not overly rich. I was not as impressed with the truffle and the caramel but that may just personal preference. Really loved that they offered gluten free treats though! That was an added bonus. Overall this is such a cool place to visit and I'm really glad I stumbled upon it!
