Marla Bakery Review - Richmond - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The pastries at Marla are excellent and the back garden area is even better, provided you are cool with the permanent Richmond fog/cloud cover. You can easily grab pastries to go, but we like to stay for brunch and get some pastries to share as well as some bigger plates - go for the baked eggs or trout plate." - Taylor Abrams

Marla Bakery Is Closing Its San Francisco Shop and Moving to Santa Rosa - Eater SF

"Marla Bakery, a well-known artisan bakery in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco, is closing its doors as the owners move to Santa Rosa. Known for its traditional Jewish holiday foods and various bakery items, Marla Bakery has been a staple in the community. The bakery plans to continue some presence in San Francisco, including a pop-up event and a stall at the Ferry Building farmers’ market." - Luke Tsai

Brioche bacon doughnut ($4) was super soft and good, although it was a bit oily. Coffee ($3) was okay. Service was prompt and friendly. At $7 for both items I thought it was a little expensive so Marla would be a self-indulgent treat rather than a regular trip for me. Would come back to try their lunch items or other baked goods.

The coffee and pastries here are good, but overpriced. We spent $4-5 on a croissant and that was a lot to spend on a basic pastry. The coffee is also good so I would recommend that. This place is just a storefront so there's not really a place for you to sit and enjoy your coffee. Instead, you just get your coffee and go on your day. So it really depends on what you're looking for in a coffee shop!
