I can’t believe after four years of living in the area I’d never heard of this place! I must have been living under a rock. After “discovering” it, reading the glowing reviews, and learning the same family had been running it for 60 years, I genuinely wanted this to be good. Honestly, I was like a kid waiting for Christmas.
Unfortunately, it just didn’t deliver. The haddock was pink (never a good sign) and went straight in the bin. The batter was soft and almost soggy, while the chicken was drier than a Saharan dust storm. The chips, however, were great — the one saving grace.
Such a shame. I expected so much, but it delivered so little. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but throwing away £20 worth of fish does leave a very sore taste.
