Where To Eat After A Hike In LA

"There are a few sandwich shops inside the Malibu Country Mart, but the one you should go to is Malibu Kitchen. It’s owned by a native New Yorker and by simply stepping inside you’re transported to Long Island in the best way - you’ll probably be curtly asked to hurry up or slow down, the chip and beverage options are endless, and the delicious made-to-order sandwiches come out quick. The moist pulled pork on ciabatta is better than many BBQ spots, but even if you go with turkey, a reuben, or an assortment of sides like tuna salad or mac and cheese from the deli case, your refuel lunch will be a guaranteed success." - brant cox

We arrived right about noon on Sunday and there was no wait. Great hostess, great server, and great food. I had the corned beef hash with 3 poached eggs, homemade hash browns with peppers and onion, and sourdough bread. It was perfect and one of the best corned beef hash and eggs I have had. I was recommended to go their and it did not disappoint. My wife and daughters loved their food also (cheeseburger and fries and cheese toasty with tomato bisque soup).

We went for breakfast/brunch and it was absolutely amazing. Everything was too perfection and it didn’t hurt that they had unlimited mimosas you could get orange juice or you could have peach or blood orange mimosas bottomless The seafood omelette. Here was good. They had pineapple upside down pancakes, which were amazing. The food was definitely a 10 out of 10.

Stopped by early evening on a Thursday with my 7 year old son and we had a great meal. It was very quiet, we hadn't made reservations. Our server was quick and attentive, and so was who I assumed was one of the chefs, who also checked in on us a couple of times. I ordered the Marmalade Steak and Lobster, which was cooked to my liking and tasted great. Well recommended. If we ever make it back to Malibu, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

I had brunch at Marmalade Café in Malibu and really enjoyed it. I ordered the three scrambled eggs with potatoes and sourdough bread — everything was fresh and satisfying. But the highlight of the meal was definitely the dark chocolate macadamia pancakes — absolutely delicious and a must-try! Great spot for a relaxed brunch in Malibu.

We had a wonderful brunch at Marmalade Cafe. Brock was our waiter and he was excellent—attentive, professional, and ensured our drinks were always full. Our orders arrived exactly as requested, which is always appreciated. I had an omelette that was cooked to perfection—light, fluffy, and flavorful. We also ordered gluten-free pancakes for the table, and they were a standout—delicious with great texture. My brunch companions ordered the Cross Creek Breakfast and gave it high marks as well. Great food, great service, and a warm atmosphere—we will definitely be back.

Worst coffee I have ever had. The hot latte I ordered was straight out cold. It did not have any froth and the quantity was too little. Moreover the cups provided were stained and not properly cleaned. The restaurant could have simply told us that they don't have coffee.

Google
The Malibu Marmalade Cafe is a must if you are in Malibu. While you may run into some celebrities, trust me when I tell you to go for the food... especially breakfast. Everything they do and serve is amazing. I ordered their steak and lobster and it was fantastic!

Update: 07/27/2025: I could not wait to come back to you. I’m a big fan of the breakfast burrito but today we’re going to try a burger with Caesar salad and my choice? The Big Marm! Let me tell you two beef patties, top with white cheddar and smack that Rios put on that and you have exceptional deliciousness There are so many things to try here, but I have to tell you it didn’t even take me five minutes to get my order taken and then maybe another 5 to 7 minutes in my order was ready was devastated by Fire so when I came back and saw this place still open I was only too happy to do whatever I could the patronize. other thing I love about this place? ESPRESSO BAR! Whenever I have dessert Here, I have to have an Americano really love the breakfast burrito. I ordered it without the top potatoes and onions. Sheraton counter and enjoyed it. I love this did you get the restaurant because it offers reasonable pricing . Play breakfast burrito was delicious and bacon egg and the side of sour cream for me. Lol. They also offer number of different cocktails from their full bar. Outdoor seating is also available

Yelp
Came to marmalade cafe Malibu with my (at the time) boyfriend for brunch, and we really enjoyed it! The restaurant has plenty of seating, we didn't have to wait at all. Our server was very friendly, and the food only took maybe 10ish mins to come out, was overall pretty fast. The ambiance is pretty standard upscale brunch, no surprise since this cafe is inside the Malibu market area. Re: food, we ordered the short rib hash, lobster lime tacos, and a plate of white chocolate macadamia nut pancakes and shared everything. All quite good! Would def recommend if you're in Malibu and just want a straightforward, satisfactory brunch. :)

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner here with some friends! I had the crispy eggplant Parmesan, and was surprised that it wasn't on a pasta base (or anything, actually), but they brought me some spaghetti to use as a base as an additional side for only $5 extra. The portion was MASSIVE and ended up being two large meals which certainly helped me feel better about the pricing. My friends had the fish tacos and the Mac & Cheese, respectively. We were amazed by the seven cheeses apparently in the Mac and cheese, and while I did not try it because my friend added bacon to theirs and I am vegetarian, they reported that it was wonderful. Honestly, while everything was pricey, it was clearly high quality and the portions were VERY generous, so it feels worthwhile. We were the only people sitting outside because of the December chill, but it was a really lovely outdoor seating area. Finally, I have to commend the service. The staff were all incredibly kind and accommodating. One accidentally brought one of my friends the wrong drink, and while both he & our main waiter noticed and offered to replace it, my friend refused and said they'd just stick with what they'd been brought instead. Even so, the one who'd made the mix-up still brought them a replacement with what they'd originally ordered a bit later, free of charge. The main waiter even offered to bring us a free dessert as an apology, but we were quite full and it really was no problem, so refused and tipped generously. I'm never in Malibu, but if I ever find myself in the area again, I'll have to return!

Yelp
Really yummy food. Great variety of dishes Love the outdoor patio. Very chill. Lovely staff. Icing on the cake is Colleen. She always takes such great care of mom and I. Has our perfect iced lattes ready as soon as she sees us THANK YOU

Yelp
I love the omelette and coffee! Perfect foggy early morning breakfast spot! I ordered the sausage cheese and spinach with sour cream omelette and I ate it up!!! The rye toast was the epic accoutrement and I had to enjoy the cottage cheese! The service was quick and friendly and the seating was comfortable. Always a favorite!

Yelp
I love this location, just off the PCH in the heart of Malibu, near a lot of other great vendors, but the breakfast overall was good just not great. We had a bad first impression because when we entered three different staff members walked by us and near us without greeting us or seating us even though we were obviously looking to have breakfast. Our waitress once we did sit down was fantastic though, and all the items came out quickly. There is a large free parking lot attached so there will be plenty of spaces. It's quite large on the inside with a lot of different seating options for various sized groups. For my meal, I chose the Spicy Chorizo Benedict and thought it was pretty good. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but there was very little sauce on it and I really wish it would've had hashbrowns instead of the home potatoes which were overall kind of dry. Overall, a nice breakfast option, especially if you are in the area.
google avatar

Assunta L.

Yelp
We came here for lunch after hiking in the area. Restaurant is spacious. Food is alright. service is fast! I like that waiting is minimal. This is crucial after a hike. Parking at this lot can be bit congested but so is PCH and the surrounding streets.
google avatar

Cassidy I.

Yelp
This was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. I ordered the fish and chips and my boyfriend ordered the salmon eggs Benedict. We were brought the fish tacos and the salmon eggs Benedict. After they re-brought me the correct meal, it seemed that it was frozen, pre made breaded fish due to the uniform shape and watery bland taste. The portions were also small on the fish. The coleslaw took over the plate, no person wants that much coleslaw as a side. For two simply portions of fish, French fries, and about 2 cups of coleslaw I paid $24.99. My boyfriend said the eggs for the eggs Benedict had an unusual leathery, softball-like texture on the whites. We had to flag down a waitress after waiting for quite a while for our bill. There is a good amount of parking, but the lot gets crowded quickly.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
The staff and service prices and everything about this place was great! The tacos were bland bland bland even though they looked really good. The salsa they were served with was even bland. It's a shame because I really enjoyed the experience! I'd come back again if I was ever in the area and order something else. My buddy loved the French dip sandwich he got so maybe I was just unlucky.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Been here twice. Great spot after a good hike. Service is always great, restaurant looks clean and organized. Their chicken and waffles are delicious! Had them both times we've gone. The iced chai latte is always a must as well. Also had the same waiter both times - you're cool, guy!

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite breakfast places in beautiful Malibu. Generous portions and great food. Give them a try the next time you're in town.
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
Sat outside for breakfast here and it was a pretty good experience. Prices are a bit high but I got two meals out of mine which was nice. I got the breakfast burrito with sausage and it was pretty yummy. I liked the guacamole inside but wouldn't preferred a different side instead of tortilla chips and warm salsa as it didn't really match the burrito. My dad liked the corned beef hash and brother the Belgian waffle. I also really liked the iced mocha however it was really expensive, I think over $7 for one coffee which is kinda wild. However the servers were attentive and it's good food.

Yelp
SO good! Grabbed a late breakfast before heading out of town and glad we ended up here. Thought they gave quite a bit of food for the price. Food was flavorful, waitress knew everything about the menu and was handling her tables like a pro. Was really impressed with the chorizo and eggs meal simply because it was good and there was so much. Also impressed by the paleo power breakfast. Was able to sub broccoli for the spinach, which I'm glad I did. It also included blackened chicken breast, which was really great. Gilson's scramble was okay - lots of food. Only thing we wouldn't re-order is the agua fresca- it just wasn't worth it and got tired of the flavor quickly. Ambiance is casual, but enjoyable. Wish we lived closer to a Marmalade Cafe so we could visit again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Wish I can give 3.8 stars. Cool cafe with brunch options located in a lot. Our party of four had to squeeze around a small table. The crab benedict tastes better than its plating. The Bloody Mary is skippable, and the champagne-infused drinks were decent.
google avatar

Andrea O.

Yelp
I'd like to begin by shouting out our Server Angel for his exceptional service. His friendly demeanor and attentiveness made our experience truly outstanding, even during peak hours. The quality of the food met our expectations, and while the ambiance was lively, introducing music could further enhance the overall atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Recently came to Malibu and stopped by here to get a meal after a hike. Iv passed by here a few times before and usually go to broad oyster co, but decided I wanted to try something new. It's in a beautiful shopping center with other restaurants and can sometimes get crowded. The ambiance here is beautiful, inside and outside, so it's worth dining in! I got the Smokey bbq bacon cheeseburger medium well with fries. The burger was big, juicy and flavorful. It's defiantly a hefty burger so don't underestimate it. The fries are decent , could use more seasoning but they're still good! Prices are a bit hefty at $20, but it's Malibu and some of the cheaper options in the area. Definitely gonna try more stuff here after hiking !

Yelp
Sat at the bar near the kitchen and trash and it smelled like dookie. Had to move and one of the employees said that they are working on the plumbing even though the bathroom is in the back corner of the restaurant... Last time we came here, we left because no one acknowledged us or served us even though we were sitting at the bar again for a few minutes... Staff also looks absolutely miserable and no one greeted us both times. Not sure if this restaurant is up to public health code either. We won't be coming back here again.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but having a lettuce wrap burger as your sole vegan entree is not at all acceptable. Beyond just hating lettuce wraps, I found the patty to be lacking in flavor. Blandest thing I've had all year. Stars are for their excellent fries and the good service we had.

Yelp
Stopped by the Malibu Country Mart after being directed to take Hwy 1 due to heavy traffic on the 405. My work colleague and I decided to grab dinner while I charged my car and Marmalade was a cozy spot on a cool/misty evening. Server and busser were very friendly. They have (2) tv's above the eat in counter, tables inside and outside in a parklet in the parking lot. They have a wine and beer menu. Food was tasty and will return while in the area.

Yelp
Starting chronologically, the parking situation here is moderate. It's in a busy plaza, but the parking availability is adequate, especially important in the typical car busy areas of Malibu. Walking in, my wife and I were struck by the comforting mood given off by the lighting and decorations. A mix between local eatery and high end restaurant, though more toward the latter. The waiter were quick to get our orders, and servers were quick, considerate, and provided options that I didn't think to ask. For example "what type of toast, the ones we tend to offer are {blank, blank, blank}" In terms of the food, the grits and eggs were the perfect amounts of salty and savory while leaving a mouth feel that satisfies the craving you would want from a grounded starch. The short rib hash seemed gimmicky at first, but ended up being a phenomenal blend of spiciness and meatiness giving "hash" a fun new spin. I also ordered an iced mocha and my wife a chai latte (not quite pictured) that were both solid in taste, construction, and presentation. My only complaint was the quality of potatoes within the hash. They tasted slightly undercooked and could benefit from either crisping them further or softening them. At first it was honestly a bit subtle to pick up, but with the default side of breakfast potatoes that were cooked well, the hash potato filling become more and more noticeable as I kept eating. Honestly, didn't keep me from finishing. Overall a good experience. Though the prices for the food prevent normal visits, I enjoyed my time here and would come back for a special treat. Ambiance: 4 Food: 3.6 Service: 5 Price: 3 Overall: 3.9

Yelp
Marmalade is a rock solid brunch spot. Diverse, fresh, tasty, menu. Upbeat, fun atmosphere. Quick, friendly, attentive, and caring service. I particularly loved the roasted turkey hash. What a delicious, melty, satisfying plate. The poached eggs, ground turkey, yukon potato purée, and hollandaise sauce is a harmonious and hearty blend. My fiancée and I left with big smiles on our faces. The power of great food and great service!
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of our go-to lunch spots in Malibu; it never disappoints. Every thing is good here. My favorite sand which is the turkey cranberry, all the soups are fantastic. There is indoor and patio seating, dogs are welcomed. The service is very good. I have been there when they were way understaffed and yes, we had to wait a few minutes to order, and for the check but these things happen and the server, though busy, was friendly and attentive. I absolutely recommend Marmalade Cafe, nice casual dining, not as fancy as some other of their locations. Always plenty of parking.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I decided to stop by this Marmalade location as we were driving through PCH and I'm so glad we did! Michele, bartender, was very personable and attentive and she made hands down the best espresso Martini we've ever had! She seemed to be the only one at the time on a busy Monday afternoon but she handled herself amazingly and constantly checked up on us! Highly recommend stopping by after a fun day at the beach and definitely ask for Michele!

Yelp
Stopped to eat breakfast since the shops around the area opened a bit late in my opinion for a weekday. There was outdoor dining which great when the weather is nice. It wasn't busy when we there on a weekday. Our meal was good. They had a credit card fee which I didn't like.

Elias M.

Yelp
Our waiter was the a delight, but the rest of our experience was horrendous. Eggs Florentine came cold, and the French fries also cold and stale. The French fried were made at least an hour before we ordered, which is so strange because the place was buzzing. Who the hell is the manager?!? To be fair, it's our first time at this location. I'm hoping they were just having a bad day, and that it's not always this horrible.
google avatar

Zachary S.

Yelp
We gave marmalade Malibu a try on a Sunday morning since we haven't been for a while. The food was ok but so many surprise charges I think they should put them in bold letters. They charge 3% for credit cards and to have a 3 egg any style, if you asked for one style for 2 eggs and another style on the third egg, they will charge you an extra $2. We had 2 over easy and 1 hard boiled egg. Btw, the hard boiled egg tasted like rubber. It must have been over cooked and sat overnight with a re-boil to make it warm. The rubbery hard boiled egg was actually quite disgusting to say the least. All and all it was just an ok experience for a diner style breakfast. It would be nice to know ahead of the unexpected charges.
google avatar

Kenny H.

Yelp
Great food, awesome service, and reasonably priced. Not sure why their ratings aren't higher, because my experience was amazing!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Had the Grilled Vegetable Quinoa Hash and it was very healthy, but would have liked it to be more flavorful!
google avatar

Yelp
Happy Holidays! Strolled into Marmalade Cafe on a cloudy and slow Saturday morning to celebrate a recent achievement. The staff were warm and welcoming and accommodating to our small puppy. We were seated in the patio area adjacent to the parking lot alongside several other patrons as the brunch crowd started to build around noon. The 10oz Medium Rare New York Strip Steak and Lobster Benedict paired beautifully to create a custom Surf & Turf. The staff and bussing crew were attentive and friendly, greeting us upon exit. Would definitely return here again when in the Malibu area! Typical breakfast food, nothing fancy, but done right.
google avatar

Pat H.

Yelp
Always loved this place! This is our go to, before/after our hike or while we're just orbiting the area. It's often packed, especially between 10am-1pm when we used to go then. People are nice and with good customer service. I would recommend this spot for sure!
google avatar

Eunice I.

Yelp
My sister and I were looking for a spot where we could eat with our two dogs. The waitress' kindness and warmth convinced me to sit at one of their patio tables. Without us asking, she brought ice water for our dogs and made sure that they were comfortable. My dog loved the area so much that one of them jumped onto one of the chairs and sat down so he can take part in the family meal. :) The menu consists of your classic American breakfast/lunch items as well as some Italian food options. The food is classic, nourishing and comforting. The breeze from the ocean is so nice in Malibu; my sister and I got to enjoy this more by sitting in the patio area.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Recently went with a friend to Malibu. We decided to start the day at Marmalade Cafe. We were delighted with the delicious breakfast and the friendly staff! If you go ask for Colleen! She is very sweet and gives great tips about fun things to do in Malibu!!

Yelp
Awesome place to have lunch or breakfast. I ordered pancakes with bacon and Eggs Benedict. Our first time eating here which was a delicious choice. Nice spot here right near the Malibu Coast. Big big family kind of a place to enjoy. Cool waiters and friendly waitresses here. Food is not too expensive depending on what you order. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Yelp
i had a great experience at marmalade cafe! the hazelnut latte was great. i really enjoyed the florentine benedict, love that it came with three eggs for more protein! the marmalade potatoes were amazing as well and love that it came with onions and bell peppers! staff was very attentive and nice, parking was also easy to find in the lot. would come again!

Kelly M.

Yelp
I ordered breakfast tacos which were amazing. The ratio of eggs to bacon and salsa was perfect with fresh tortillas and salsa. My grandson had blueberry pancakes which were great. Ice tea is to die for. The service was great. Come here every time I'm in town.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
The perfect stop on the way to the beach! (shout out to Carbon Beach ^-^) Marmalade is located in Malibu in a really cute center right off of PCH. There are plenty of options to dine, drink, shop, etc in the center but you really can't go wrong choosing Marmalade. I usually like to eat on the patio because- Malibu- it's gorgeous. The food is also top notch! For brunch I love the eggs benedict (sub meat for avocado). It's one of those meals where even though you're full you're sad it's over because it's so good. There are also lots of fun coffee offerings (hot and cold), a full bar with some really great specialty cocktails, and yummy desserts. Just a solid place. Cherry on top is the wonderful staff. They have always been so kind and friendly. See you soon Marmalade Cafe!
google avatar

Zoe C.

Yelp
Bit pricey but good food and good atmosphere. Was quite busy. Staff did a great job even though the place was packed. Turkey sausage wasn't the best, probably recommend a different side. The bacon was great. Bagel perfectly toasted. Crispy potatoes and nicely poached eggs.

Sasha I.

Yelp
Brock is the best server!! He made our experience amazing, smooth and seamless and we were a large group :)
google avatar

Stuart S.

Yelp
One of my favourite breakfast/brunch spots. The breakfast burrito is amazing and the Bloody Mary a work of art! A great setting and location just off the PCH.....the service is just as great as the food!
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Pros: great selections, service, and quality! I had the yogurt with their freshly toasted granola, it was so crunchy, warm, and delicious! I was really craving something light and this hit the spot. I also had the hazelnut latte, it was very tasty! Hubby has the pancakes and LOVED them. Cons: inside tables are pretty close together, but there is plenty of seating outside
google avatar

Danny U.

Yelp
Ambience was really good -- cute, varnished wood, boutique art. Service was great. Pineapple upside down cake was very dry, even after adding so much syrup that it became inedible. And butter was rock hard which was interesting. BUT people seem to like the cake, so I'm probably just picky? Idk. It's certainly a place worth your time though, good place to pick up some brunch. Full of good people who care. Small town feel to it, which is hard to emulate.
google avatar

Shirin P.

Yelp
Enjoyed brunch outside on a sunny day. Our server was attentive and helpful and food was delicious. It was a 3 meal for 2 people day for us and we enjoyed all of our meals
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
First timer! First and foremost - our service was AMAZING. There was a busser that came to our table a few times who was so delightful. Additionally, our server was so nice and made sure we were taken care of. Our food was amazing as was the weather! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the inside of the restaurant since it was closed off, but we ate outside which was perfect. I tried the 7 Grain & Almond Granola Pancakes (recommended by my friend who I was there with) and loved it!! Not too sweet but not too grainy either. The food came out quite fast which was great since we were able to go enjoy the rest of our morning roaming around the gorgeous area. I hope to be back soon! Their entire menu looked so good.

Yelp
Once a week we come to this place. The quality of food is amazing. Waiter is usually very polite and attentive. We really like the atmosphere; very peaceful, quiet and friendly

Yelp
Food good , service amazing , the place is cozy and cute! Come here often never disappoints

Yelp
Came here after a beach sesh with my friend. Waited for a bit, but not too bad. There are indoor and outdoor seating, of course, we opted for outdoor for the fresh air and blue sky. Nothing too special, imo, but we ordered some drinks and a vegan burger. I'm not vegan, but decided to try it out. It wasn't too bad, but it was hard to swallow since...I think....there are beans in there. Server was spotty, but one server saw that the sun was on us and helped us with the umbrella. There's a parking lot, but it's hit and miss. I've been at times with tons of parking and others no parking at all.
google avatar

Nin J.

Yelp
Stopped in the shopping center to charge up the vehicle and grab some breakfast. Pulled up Yelp and Marmalade Cafe popped up with shiny red stars. I ordered a hazelnut cappuccino and the French Toast. Both were perfect. French Toast was made with sourdough, lightly battered with egg, topped with fresh fruit and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The toast was perfectly cooked, not too soggy or over "eggy." Just perfect. The husband ordered a chai latte and the Gilson Scramble. Both were also perfect. His scramble was full of fresh avocado, grilled onions, tasty potatoes and perfectly cooked eggs. Service was friendly and fast.
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
Enjoyed our breakfast immensely. Food was delicious. Service was attentive. Staff were concerned and confirmed we wanted to sit in the patio area because it was a bit on the cool side that morning and we assured them we did since we had our small dog with us. We ordered short rib hash, classic eggs bennie, and the winner pineapple upside-down pancake! Midway through our meal, staff came out to ask if our dog needed water...so thoughtful! Coffees and water were always refreshed and our server was on top of his game. Actually, all the staff from seating to leaving who interacted with us were wonderful and should be complimented on making a good experience great. Awesome job Marmalade team... we can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely place. I was worried that it's gonna be different from one on Ventura Blvd but it's just the same and maybe even better. Lobster Benedict is the best
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Food is good but management was non existent. My wife who has been in restaurant management for 30+ years says she has worked to train people with no restaurant experience first day on the job who did a better job than he did. Didn't offer menus--we got them for ourselves after waiting 10 minutes. Didn't offer a beverage. Didn't let us know our server was on break. When our server returned from break she was then inundated while he made orange juice and offered no support to the staff. Not the server's fault since she was trying to do the best she could given the nonexistent manager.
