"In a side street set back from the port, chef Claudio Marsico, who hails from southern Italy, and Jacopo Marini, a sommelier from Lombardy, have transformed a former burger joint into this charming, bright and welcoming Mediterranean restaurant. The fresh, spontaneous cuisine, with spicy notes and hits of citrus flavour, takes daily inspiration from the neighbouring Saleya Market: fried artichokes, lemon vinaigrette and carrot ketchup; duckling fillet, sweet potato, leeks sautéed in butter and white wine. A constantly evolving European wine list completes this pleasant culinary interlude." - Michelin Inspector

I found MarMar through Google before our family vacation to Nice and couldn’t believe it had 5 stars (because hardly any hotel or restaurant has a perfect score of 5.0 stars). Well, we booked it and saw for ourselves that this small intimate restaurant was clearly deserving of this perfect rating! While I enjoy outdoor dining, I wanted to eat indoors here just to peek over at the chef and watch him make these special creations. I loved the fresh ingredients and the overall value received. Menu is limited but that is what adds to the charm of this place. I wanted to order one of everything! Loved the outstanding spinach risotto dish but forgot to snap a photo. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to Nice.

Such a great place! Amazing food and perfect service, great at making you feel like a special guest even though they had other customers to attend to! Would definitely recommend! Great at English as well, for all us non-French speaker.

Second visit for lunch at this restaurant, and it was just as enjoyable. With the good weather, sitting outside was very pleasant and relaxing. The seafood and fish are beautifully prepared, my lieu dos jaune was tender, perfectly cooked, and well complemented by the garnish and sauce. Service remains attentive, and while I’m not a fan of champagne being served in white wine glasses, everything else was excellent. A place worth returning to with the changing seasons.

Run don't walk!! Fantastic food, one of the best places we dined in when in Nice, fantastic flavours, perfectly balanced. Very small menu that changes frequently but everything was executed so well. The owner will recommend a wine that best pairs with your order, he was very friendly and attentive. It's a small place but at full capacity and both the owner/waiter and chef have the restaurant running perfectly, no long delays considering only two work there and the kitchen space is tiny. We had olive oil from Italy and bread as an amuse bouche. Starters were the Tomato and Burrata & Artichoke, mains we had the Duck and Risotto with Veal and dessert, grape/raisin Tarte and Tiramisu, we had a grappa as a digestif. Everything was amazing.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Warm, professional service, a stylish atmosphere, and beautifully crafted dishes. One of the best spots in Nice — highly recommended!

We went for dinner on Saturday evening and we loved everything we had. My favorite is the starter with artichoke and the dessert tiramisu.

The restaurant and menu are small but exquisite (three starters, three mains, and three desserts each). This is due to the fact that one of the two friends who run this little gem together works (alone) in the kitchen, while the other takes care of the service (alone). This way, both of them have - as they intended - complete control to ensure that everything truly meets their quality standards and is first-class. They succeed completely: everything was genuinely delightful, from the food to the drinks and the super-friendly service. The wines recommended to us paired perfectly with the dishes. Some came from smaller winemakers who are trying to break new ground. The menu is adapted daily depending on what the market offers in the morning. What a wonderful restaurant! We felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and we hope the two friends can maintain their concept for a long time to come. Definitely worth trying (make sure to book ahead).
