I have been driving by this place and wanting to stop. Today, we did. Oh my goodness! It is so good!! I got the chicken Shawarma and the flavors are incredible. The hummus is so fresh! My husband got the lamb and it was just falling off the bone. This will be a place that we crave. The prices are great, and the portion sizes are generous. We ended the meal with baklava and it is honestly probably the best I’ve ever had.

Google
The staff is so wonderful! She answered my questions about the different teas and offered us some homemade hot sauce- very tasty! The teas were so cool and tasty- not super sweet at all. I added that hot sauce to the hummus and my wrap/sandwich. I am perfectly full and everything was so fresh and healthy.

We love supporting local, and Marrakesh Express in Smyrna is an absolute gem that more people need to know about! Located just two minutes from the Smyrna Public Library and downtown Smyrna, this spot offers amazing Moroccan food in a clean, welcoming space with a great atmosphere. The owner is incredibly kind, and you can tell they truly care about the food and the experience. It’s a small operation, just two people working, I’ll but they’re doing it all with love and heart. The cook even brought our food to the table and couldn’t have been nicer. We ordered the Chicken Tanji, Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, Baba Ghanoush, and Zaalouk, everything was delicious and full of flavor. The Moroccan hot sauce is a must-try, bold, spicy, and addictive! We also tried their traditional mint iced tea, which was refreshing and paired perfectly with the food. (We do wish there was a hot tea option, or the ability to sweeten the iced tea ourselves, but it was still really good!). I wish they have couscous & Pastilla on the menu. The salad that came with the Chicken Tanjiya was fresh and flavorful, I’d love to know what was in that dressing! We ended our meal with their baklava, which was just the right amount of sweet and flaky. It’s working, they’ve got something special here. We just wish they were busier. If you’re in Smyrna, Vinings, Marietta, or near Windy Hill, definitely stop by and show them some love. Local spots like this deserve all the support! We can’t wait to go back!

Google
Delicious Moroccan food! Great vegetarian options - the falafel was fresh and the garlic yogurt sauce was especially flavorful. The Denjal (eggplant stew) was also very tasty. Don't sleep on the baklava either - very reasonably priced for a large portion of some of the best baklava I've ever had. It's so fresh and crisp. On top of the delicious food, the service was great - they're happy to tell you about the less familiar menu options and even offer samples to try before you commit. They have a special couscous dish on Fridays that's very tasty. It's also probably the cleanest counter serve restaurant I've ever seen. All-in-all, I would highly recommend.

Google
My daughter and I visited the restaurant this evening. Maal (Hope) greeted us with the warmest smile and made us feel like we were visiting her home. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the Chicken Tinjaya and Chicken Shawarma. We will definitely be repeat customers!!!

Jordan M.

Google
Absolutely phenomenal. Some of the best lamb I've ever had, and such amazing service! I will be coming back very soon to take my wife because I cannot wait for her to try this!

Google
What a great experience we had at this place. Every good item w tried was excellent. The service was top notch. And the place is spotless clean. Nice seating options with indoor and outdoor tables. Thank you Marrakech Express, we'll be back.

Google
Absolutely delicious! Food tastes truly homemade and wholesome. Spices and seasonings were spot-on. Harissa sauce was perfect. Chicken was fall apart tender. And Amal had such a nice and welcome energy! Can’t wait to be back! Glad this place is near my house.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Service was fantastic! She let me try free samples of very tasty food, Very nice and inviting place. Food was fantastic as well.

Yelp
My god parents were in the mood for Mediterranean food because they wanted something light to eat given their recent doctor visit. So I found Marrakech on Yelp. Parking was super easy. It's in a plaza near Belmont villages I believe. I was immediately greeted when I opened the door. I wasn't sure on what to order so I asked for their suggestions and they recommended chicken shawarma, lamb tanjiya, chicken shawarma bowl, and chicken tanjiya. I ordered all four items! The hot sauce was on the side and I also think it came with some sort of bread. Needless to say, I had their lamb tanjiya and it was phenomenal! I wanted to save some for leftovers but I ended up devouring the entire meal! My god parents and sister raved about their meals also! The restaurant is very chill. A nice spot for a quick bite to eat if you're in the area or in the mood for top notch Mediterranean cuisine. So I will be back!

Yelp
I'm glad I finally had a chance to eat here. I dined during lunch but it wasn't too busy. It was clean inside and so was the bathroom. I ate in, and it took about 5-6 minutes for my food to come out. I had the chicken shawarma bowl with green beans. The chicken was seasoned well and wasn't dry. The sauce on top went well with the dish and I enjoyed the pita and hummus. I've never had green beans cooked that way but they were good. I also had a specialty tea, which I can't remember the name but it was good. I hope this gem stays in Smyrna.

Yelp
Dining at Marrakesh Express was a last minute decision, but I'm very happy I went! The highlight of this visit was the service, we had the owner take our order and prepare the meal and she was excellent. When my girlfriend and I were unsure of what we wanted to eat she immediately offered us samples of a few dishes which were very tasty. She was such a nice person to interact and discuss the menu with and it really made the visit. On top of that the food was also delicious, we had the chicken shawarma plate, falafel sandwich, and baklawa, and all were really tasty. My favorite was the falafel sandwich as it was something I wasn't sure about at first but I really enjoyed. I wish I had heard about Marrakesh sooner and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The lamb shank was truly amazing! Tender and very tasty. The meat fell off the bone and the flavors were amazing. I like to go to a place that makes food I can't make. I make lamb roast but this lamb was so much better than what I have been able to do. The spicy sauce was not hot or over powered, just very flavorful. Alma was so pleasant and has every right to be proud of her restaurant, yet she is humble and kind and knows her food. Service given with a smile and the location feels like a neighborhood place to enjoy. It is a mall restaurant so nothing super fancy as the highlight is the wonderful and flavorful food!

Yelp
Very tasty. Cute inside. Lovely owner. Had the falafel bowl. Very filling. Lots of flavor.

Yelp
After running errands Saturday morning, stopped by for lunch. I'd read great things about this spot since it took over this location. There was no one inside, a party eating on the patio and one person working. The employee greeted me and advised to give them a few minutes as I looked over the menu. There's a variety of plates, bowls, sandwiches, salads desserts and sides. Mostly vegetarian but they sell chicken and lamb too. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma bowl with everything. While I waited there was a tray of baklava sitting on the display case. I asked if it was coming out or going back in. He never replied but it sat uncovered the entire time. Overall the location is cozy, clean and food was great quality. The flavors weren't that outstanding - more Morrocan than Mediterranean flavor. Some veggies in the bowl seemed overcooked. I'd return to try other things and hope they last in Smyrna!

Yelp
When I dine out, I expect basic hygiene standards--like washing hands after handling dirty dishes--especially before touching fresh food or clean plates. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case during my visit to Marrakesh Express. I witnessed staff moving from dirty dishes to food prep without washing their hands. Even when gloves were worn, they were put on with dirty hands, completely defeating the purpose. We waited nearly 55 minutes for our meals, which we later learned was partly due to being severely understaffed. Instead of offering a professional explanation, the manager joked about it, mock-scolding two staff members for "getting pregnant at the same time." I found her remarks about her employees both inappropriate and disrespectful. To make matters worse, the chef's family were treated as VIPs for the night. They received oversized portions and were served ahead of everyone else, while the rest of us waited. Although apologies were made, the favoritism was obvious. When my meal finally arrived, I immediately noticed a long hair--clearly the chef's--laid across my main dish. I pointed it out. The plate was whisked away with an apology, but by then I had lost my appetite. I asked for a refund and left. Overall, it was a deeply unsettling dining experience. I cannot recommend Marrakesh Express due to serious issues with cleanliness and professionalism. There was also a separate incident involving political commentary, which I won't detail here. Simply put, politics should never be part of a restaurant experience.

Yelp
I ordered plate #3 with chicken and my husband ordered plate #4 with lamb. The portions were an excellent size and plates well. My chicken was tasty and seasoned well but the biggest thing I can say about the chicken was it was moist and fell apart easily. It wasn't dry or overcooked and I wanted to finish my entire plate, even though I was very full. My husband's lamb came in a bone but was so fall off the bone, literally, and it was delicious. I would go back for this dish but based on the two dishes I really can't wait to try more of the menu.

Yelp
It's a cute little restaurant serving Moroccan /middle Eastern food. The place is clean and simply done with nice outside patio. The chicken shawarma was cooked well and delicious. It almost feels like home cooked. I also ordered a vegetarian platter with extra side of harissa. This was great too. The server was friendly and welcoming.

Mandy L.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. There was plenty of seating options inside as well as an outdoor patio. I had the chicken shawarma bowl and my husband had the chicken Taniya. Both dishes were beautifully presented, they were incredibly flavorful and there is enough food for a couple of meals. We will absolutely be coming back! What a wonderful addition to our Smyrna community. Well done!

Angie N.

Yelp
When walking in, you are immediately welcomed by the lovely staff and a very clean establishment. The ambiance is warm, welcoming and an overall great place to dine in and take your time with enjoying the delicious food. I ordered the Falafel sandwich and the Chicken Shawarma bowl. BOTH were extremely flavorful! I could taste every single ingredient in both plates. The sandwich was refreshing, light and filling. The shawarma bowl was BEAUTIFULLY assembled, the chicken was tender, the green beans was my FAVORITE (which I did not expect), the hummus was sooo creamy and perfect with the naan. And if you like hot , GET THE HARISSA ! That Moroccan hot spice is jam packed with goodness. Thank you Marrakech! This is my new Mediterranean go to spot!

Steven K.

Yelp
This place is new. The food is amazing. Portions are plenty, and very flavorful. The service is amazing. Very friendly staff. Went here for lunch and will definitely comeback again.

Steve T.

Yelp
I had the chicken shawarma plate and the dish was very flavorful with a small salad and hummus to round out the plate. It is a very clean place and well decorated. Enjoyed the experience!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
The food is made with abundant love! It's incredible. Everything is homemade, and she goes above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect. The lamb is the best we have had in Atlanta. Highly recommend the chicken shawarma, too! The homemade sauces are the perfect addition. We have quickly become regular customers and have always left happy and satisfied.

Yelp
This restaurant is clean, and it is very nice and inviting to eat here. The food is excellent, even my vegan husband can enjoy a few dishes here that he likes. The staff is super kind and attentive. I dropped my baklava on the way out at the front door and stood there disappointed like a child that just dropped an icecream. Without a second thought I was given another serving of baklava to take home!

Sean M.

Yelp
Very good food! Both my fiance and I cleared our plates. I got the couscous chicken and vegetable special and she got the chicken tanjiya. I also got the baklava and it was very good. Not too soggy and wet like some places. I would definitely recommend eating here. We will be back for sure. It was pretty busy, so our food took a little while, but it came out piping hot!

Cassidy W.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! This set the bar SO high for a 5 star review. The atmosphere was extremely clean, and casual. Fresh flowers at each table! Order at the counter layout. We came in and ordered the Chicken Tanijiya, it was delicious and a great portion. The side salad was so crisp and fresh, dressed generously (but not overly) with ranch. The chicken was incredibly flavorful, yet not overwhelmingly exotic. The rice was delicious as well. She assured us that her falafel was "the best in the world" and it did not disappoint! The falafel sandwich was excellent, the flavors! Wow! Amal, the owner greeted us - she was not only an attentive hostess, but an inspiration. Her kindness was evident through her warm demeanor, but also her pride for her ethnicity and confidence in the quality of her food. She told us she was a small business owner and a new location will be opening in Midtown soon! It didn't feel like I was eating at a restaurant, I was at an old friend's house for dinner. It didn't taste like restaurant quality, it was home quality. I can't wait to come back again and will be recommending this gem to anyone and everyone.

Very U.

Yelp
Chicken Shawarma is delicious , as always. I frequented this restaurant when they were in Food court in East Atlanta . Owner Amal is always a pleasure . I'm not a fan of spicy food so glad to have a tasty options on the menu. Dinning area is roomy , bright and always clean . A must try .

Linda M.

Yelp
Amazing lamb dish combinations. Meat, hummus, rice. Delicious! Ambiance is lacking, but the food makes up for it.

Corn H.

Yelp
I LOVE the food and employees here! I don't live in Georgia anymore but I make sure to stop by everytime I visit the state. The couple that own the restaurant are lovely people, and the food is incredible. I wish there was something like this restaurant where I live now.

Mari M.

Yelp
Very inviting interior, good food, and loved the fresh flowers! Very kind workers too. We had a great experience!

Yelp
If you are in the Smyrna area and like Mediterranean/Moroccan food, this place was AMAZING! It felt like I was eating food from a Moroccan grandmothers kitchen. The owner/lady who cooks it all is super sweet and told us it's mostly her grandmothers recipes. We had the chicken shawarma plate, the tinjaya (lemon) chicken plate, and the falafel bowl. It was all amazing but the shawarma, falafel's, green beans, and the orange/red sauce were my favorites!

Rachel F.

Yelp
I picked my 12yo son up from school today and realized how hungry I was. He's my adventurous eater, so I asked him if he wanted to try Marrakech Express with me since I've been meaning to try it since it opened. It was around 4:30pm, not exactly peak hours for dinner, so we were the only ones there. The owner was incredibly helpful and kind. The restaurant was super clean and newly renovated. I ordered the falafel bowl, and my son ordered the chicken shawarma (he's never had Moroccan food before). They were absolutely delicious! My son couldn't stop saying how good the food was. You could tell that everything was authentic and freshly made, and had so much flavor. We topped everything off with the baklava, which may have sent us over the edge as we were pretty stuffed, but it was well worth it! I highly recommend Marrakech Express. That space has had some turnover in the past few years, so let's show our support and keep them around. Definitely a great addition to Smyrna, offering variety that we need!

Azadeh S.

Yelp
Wonderful! Delicious food at reasonable prices. The owner and her husband are so sweet! Don't skip the baghlava! Tasty! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

JoAnna D.

Yelp
Wonderful little place with delicious food and fantastic customer service! You can tell the owners take pride in what they do and want to make sure you have a great dining experience. I highly recommend checking it out!
google avatar

Hannah T.

Yelp
Food was fantastic! The restaurant was clean and food came out fast. They had a nice shaded patio too!

Teresa L.

Yelp
First, my husband loved his chicken dish, giving it a 9 of 10. I am a vegan and my order (several sides) was not as good. We went around noon, shortly after the restaurant first opened. My rice was cold and the food, on the whole, was rather bland. It would have benefited from some salt and some fat (oil). And the yellow rice, which I presume was meant to be saffron rice, did not have the lovely perfume of saffron. It appeared to have been made with tumeric to achieve the yellow color. On the plus side: I ordered falafel and it was REALLY GOOD; however, it was not served with tahini. I would have had to purchase it separately. So...I will go back for falafel but will have the other dishes at other tried and true establishments. The total was near 50 dollars and there was no silverware and I had water, so the place isn't inexpensive. The owner was pleasant and very helpful but I have had better eggplant, chickpeas and green beans at festivals in the surrounding greater Metro Atlanta area.

Christine C.

Yelp
The food was good and the service was great! Overall good portion size and value for what you get.
google avatar

Tara J.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a whim although I had originally planned to go the pizza place nearby. Moroccan food sounded like a better plan and it did NOT disappoint! I had the chicken shawarma bowl and it was DELICIOUS! The flavors were impeccable *chef's kiss*, the portion was generous and the meal left me full without feeling heavy. I live nearby so this has been added to my list of great meals for a good value. Will be returning often! I'd post. Pic of the food but I ate it up before I could stop to take a picture!

Tricia G.

Yelp
We arrived just before closing and figured we'd just grab whatever they had to go so they could get on with their evening. The owners were so accommodating and welcoming. They actually brought out the food and we dined in. The lamb shank was one of the best meals I've had this year and everything is made with love from very authentic recipes. My husband is a vegetarian and he is always super pleased with this place. Great addition to Smyrna.
google avatar

Christie B.

Yelp
They are so nice and they have amazing food. The lady who served us was so kind and generous. There was really nice inside sitting and outside sitting.she said that my daughter was a princes .

April W.

Yelp
Excellent service. Clean atmosphere. Delicious, large portions. Truly an exceptional experience.
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
This place has the most amazing food! We tried it on a whim tonight as it is new to Smyrna. I got the falafel plate which did not disappoint with many sides and pita/sauces to go with it. Huge portion, not one bad thing. The owner was a delight and you will want to support this business for her alone; I promise. 10/10- y'all be sure to go!

Maria G.

Yelp
I love their food. Even drove to the restaurant when they ran out at the farmer's market

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This is seriously the best food, and I'm picky so that says a lot! The hummus is the best hummus I've ever had, and the chicken shawarma sandwich is fantastic!

Karl H.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Mediterranean I've had. Spices, quality, service, all 5/5. Will be back!

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
We have ordered take out a few times and the food has been delicious each time! Glad to have Marrakech in Smyrna.

Jen R.

Yelp
We ordered pickup from here for Mother's Day, and it was amazing! My husband and I both thought the flavors and quality were so good. I think the owner was there and my husband said she was super kind and helpful. You can really tell they care about using clean, quality ingredients, which we really value. Definitely our new favorite spot!
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
WOW! I'm middle eastern and grew up eating Mediterranean food daily and this place WOW'd me. The chicken shawarma has so much flavor and is so tender it melts in your mouth. My husband got the lamb shank and said it was a must and it just falls off the bone it's so tender. They come with rice, a small salad, pita and hummus. Everything was so good. Be careful with that spicy red sauce is it SPICY! I couldn't handle it, but my husband enjoyed it. Overall will definitely come back. Parking is paid structure parking

Julia C.

Yelp
Delicious! We got chicken shawarma plates with spicy hummus and the house hot sauce. Food was so good, super flavorful and the owner was very nice. Would recommend!
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
This is by far and above some of the most delicious food in the world! My wife and I have been going to them in East Atlanta at the Sunday Farmer's Market for quite some time and now that they have a physical permanent location inside of Colony Square at Politan Row you have to go!! The Lamb Shank is mouthwatering, the prices are so amazing for the quality and portion you get and the owners are extremely nice!!

Shonda L.

Yelp
First time eating at this restaurant for $15 they don't give you a lot ask for the sauce on the side and she put it on the side of my plate wasn't enough sauce little bit of hummus salad no dressing will I be back no

Jeremy S.

Yelp
What a gem !!! Amal is wonderful. The food is wonderful. Must have the falafel right away!! Chicken Schwarma plate was enough for two! Beautiful inside too! Can't wait to try more!

Sonali M.

Yelp
The food from Marrakech was fresh and delicious. The falafels, spicy hummus, chicken and lamb tanjiya were really flavorful. The owner took the time to explain every dish. The dining room was very inviting. We will definitely go back again!

Happy S.

Yelp
great food! love the falafel and the hummus. Great taste. Will be going again. Great customer service

Willa Z.

Yelp
The chicken shawarma bowl is delicious! The chicken and rice are so flavorful I regularly buy it from the gatech stand
google avatar

Hailey R.

Yelp
Chef Amal is the sweetest, and her food is incredible. I usually stop by the Piedmont Green Market to get a breakfast pita wrap from her on the way to tennis (tip: add the harissa!), but am always happy to find new locations where Marrakech is popping up. The food is so flavorful -- I love the Tanjiya (a savory, garlicky-cumin-lemon chicken dish), and the baba ghanoush is also incredible. Thank you for introducing me to a new cuisine + doing it with such kindness!
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Chef Amal knows what she's DOING. Sadly she is only at the EAV food hall on Friday during lunch currently, but I am so glad we stopped in randomly for lunch on a Friday. We had no particular plans for what food to get, and after she offered a sample of her eggplant, we knew we needed more! We had an veggie plate and a chicken plate. Each comes with the main stewed item, some rice, green beans, hummus and pita, and some of her homemade hot sauce. Do not forego the hot sauce, it is the perfect amount of spicy and so full of flavor! If you're not a spice lord though no worries, her food is incredible with or without the hot sauce. The chicken was so tender, it was falling apart under my fork, and I felt so nourished. The green beans are amazing and so is the eggplant. If I wasn't typically working on Fridays I'd be here every week and I can tell she has quite a few regulars.
