The 22 Best Restaurants In Baltimore - Baltimore - The Infatuation

"Marta manages the oxymoron of “unpretentious fine dining” perfectly. Staffed by servers with an encyclopedic knowledge of the menu, the space is intimate, with banquette seating wrapping the dining room and a handful of chairs at the bar where you’ll probably be chatting with your neighbors by the end of the meal. Most of the dishes center around twists on classic Italian dishes, like beet carpaccio and a tuna tartare cannoli, but there’s also a fantastic ziti bolognese. Save room for the tiramisu that’s served with espresso poured over a half moon of chocolate into a cup of mousse, lady fingers, and crunchy chocolate pearls. It’ll quiet anyone who actively hates on wet cake." - michele berry

Sunday Birthday Brunch date June 2025 with a few of my favs! It appears to be in a quaint & quiet neighborhood on a corner. We had reservations for 11:00 AM and the crowd was light. It wasn’t packed to capacity with a bustling line out the door like a lot of these brunch places can be. We tried a few things but starting off with their freshly brewed coffee alone, we knew we were in for some good eats, the coffee by itself was just so fresh & good. We knew this would blow our minds so we ordered just one for the table to share, the Lemon Ricotta Pancake Soufflé, everyone said they only wanted a tiny piece to keep room for our full meal but bay-bee, once we dug in, it was over, it was amazing!!! We all kept piecing off of it until it was gone, which did not take long at all between 4 people, it was the perfect combination of flavors, even with the warm drizzled syrup it was still not overly sweet, you’ve got to try it. For entrees we ordered Eggs in Purgatory (X2), Eggs Benedict, Campanelle Zafferano & a Caesar Salad. Everything was cooked to perfection, we all had an opportunity to taste a little of everything and not one complaint at the table. Out hostess was very nice, being our very first time, he was patient and answered all of our questions and offered up his best suggestions as well. So happy to have had this experience, will be back to try more of their delightful dishes.

I had such a wonderful time at Marta! Our bartender/server, Zach, was absolutely incredible—friendly, knowledgeable, and warm. He made us feel like family from the moment we sat down. The cocktails he crafted for us during brunch on Friday, August 6th, were phenomenal—handmade with care and perfectly balanced. Zach’s knowledge of the menu was impressive, and his recommendations were spot on. Every dish we tried was thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell that Marta’s business model is built around quality and care—it truly shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. This was, without question, one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Thank you, Zach, and the entire Marta team, for making it so exceptional!

My wife and I went for a dinner date on Saturday night for a 630 reservation. We were promptly welcomed, seated, and provided menus. Our first impression was that it was very loud. This would be my only negative critique. Our waitress was attentive and personable. Our food was well paced and delicious. All dishes were delicious and had appropriate acid and salinity. We felt the food was upscale italian with a twist or modern feel. We valued out time there, and are already planning our next trip, albeit for just dessert and drinks at the bar one late evening.

Visited January 2025 for a birthday. Restaurant is tastefully decorated and food aesthetically pleasing but the service is poor enough that those factors don't make up for it. Several basic service failures were disappointing, like enthusiastically offering a bread refill and then charging extra for it at the end; asking if we wanted our pancake to come after the savory main course, but then doing the opposite of what we requested; pouring the entirety of the oversized maple syrup directly on the pancake without ever asking; taking 20 minutes to collect the bill when we had the credit card waiting since it was initially dropped off; long wait times between courses in general; etc. Nothing egregious, but not what you would hope or expect at a restaurant that advertises itself as being "fine" dining. They did not seem understaffed at any point either; if anything, there appeared to be more staff than customary in a small space with few patrons. The pasta was good, but not good enough to warrant another visit or recommend this restaurant.

Excellent fancy Italian. Great vibe, drinks and food. Highly recommend everything we got. Tuna cannoli crudo, beet carpaccio, crab spaghetti carbonara, bolognese rigatoni, duck breast 2 ways, branzino, and tiramisu afogato. All was excellent.

One of our favorite meals in Baltimore. TLDR: Marta provides an upscale casual vibe in Butchers Hill. Great food and service. Get dessert. We got a same day reservation for an early dinner and were seated immediately. Our server was funny and friendly, not to mention very attentive. For starters, we had the yellowtail. As sushi lovers, we could pass on this appetizer - nothing bad but nothing to phone home. There was a tad too much salt and the raw vegetable took away from the yellowtail in our opinion. We also got a Caesar salad and they split it amongst two plates so it was easier to share. The cheese crisp on top was savory goodness. Perfect Caesar salad, no notes. For our mains we got the Steak con Salsa Verde and the Ziti Bolognese. The ziti bolognese was soooo good. The pasta was extremely fresh and the serving was pretty generous. The bolognese was the good amount of richness. The steak con salsa verde was also a standout. The steak temperature was to our request and extremely tender. The salsa verde is an Italian salsa verde, which is more similar to a chimichurri than a tomatillo salsa. The Roman gnocchi it came with was like a croquette, perfectly crispy. Lastly, the DESSERT! A MUST at Marta. We were torn between 3 and ended up getting 2 to share. The first was a mango passion fruit cheesecake and the tiramisu affogato. The marscapone with the tiramisu affogato was unbelievably light. The textural/temp combo of the fresh shot of espresso with the ladyfingers and the marscapone.. chef’s kiss. Highly recommend. The mango passion fruit cheesecake was also delicious. The cheesecake was on the lighter/creamier side than a dense cheesecake. Very delicious. The tangy sauce was a good balance. It also came with small pieces of merengue that added a delicate touch. My only comment is I wish there was some more fresh fruit incorporated- I think that would really complement this dish well. Overall, if you’re in Baltimore or just visiting, I highly recommend- we will definitely be back. Thanks to Marta staff for a wonderful visit!

Dinner here was awesome. Everything was fabulous and our waiter was one of the best we have had in Baltimore so far. Loved it. Will be back. Tuna Cannolis were our favorite dish!

Somehow Marta manages to be both lively and intimately cozy simultaneously in a cute little rowhouse. There must be some kind of magic in that kitchen because every restaurant that's ever been in this location has had amazingly delicious and inventive food. (Previously Salt was one of my fave restaurants in town) And Marta's continues and exceeds this amazing tradition! We went for a friend's birthday, and all 3 courses were delicious, beautifully presented, inventive, and not the same old stuff that you find at every restaurant. Very sweet wait staff was super attentive, educated about the food and the wine and made great suggestions. Sadly they got sick during service and seamlessly had another wait staff cover us. We never would have even known. Kudos to the front of house team for handling with such skill and ease. By far the standout was the tuna cannoli. I'm not even sure I can do justice to this deliciousness with a crunchy outer "cannoli" shell with a slight hint of sweet surrounding a creamy center of tuna crudi with little dots of avocado cream and all was covered with a pistachio "dust." The spicy meatballs were delectable with the creamy spicy ricotta. And the foi gras ravioli was amazing. And for two people with drinks it was really pretty a good deal for the quality if the food, service and location. We will be back!

Yelp
We absolutely loved our dining experience at Marta! The atmosphere was warm and inviting--super cozy & comfortable. I had heard others mention that it could be crowded, but that wasn't our experience at all. We were seated right away. Food: We loved everything that we tried! The highlight was probably the beef tartare. So yummy! Also loved the oysters, tagliatelle tartufo with truffle, & the campanelle zafferano. Phenomenal meal & service! Can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu! Highly recommend!

Yelp
A wonderful birthday celebration! My cousin and I came here for dinner with a reservation at 7:30. We weren't sat until about 7:50 but didn't mind. They gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne for the wait. We got oysters, Campanelle Zafferano, ossobucco milanese, and Pennsylvania lamb. The Milanese was the most incredible, tender piece of veal I've ever had. I loved the ambiance and the drinks! I had 2 of the fig and fable, what a savory drink! I can't wait to come back and try some new things out! Thank you Marta's for a great birthday dinner

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences in Baltimore (maybe anywhere)? We had a reservation for a Saturday night and arrived a bit early. They were able to seat us right away if we wanted to sit outside, which we did because the night was screaming for it. Ambiance was lovely outside, so I would recommend if the weather calls for it. Marta really knows how to play the flavor game. Everything is drizzled, garnished, and plated to perfection. It is all style and all substance and I freaking loved it. Here are the things you need to get (in no ranking order): 1. Bread and Butter - Yes, it is $8. Yes, it is worth it. Just try it and you'll understand. The house cultured butter, basil oil, and sea salt elevate this from just a standard bread basket to something you gotta have. 2. Beef Tartare - Best I've ever had. No notes. 3. Beet Carpaccio - Favorite dish of the night. The gooseberries added this amazing pop of citrus. The goat cheese, the hazelnuts, the fennel. OMG. Even if you think you don't like beets, please try. 4. Ziti alla Bolognese - One of the best pasta dishes I've had. We ordered it to split and they plated it in separate bowls for us, which I think is such a nice touch!! I know the tuna cannoli gets a ton of love and it IS good but I thought the other starters were just...better. We also got a slice of opera cake on the house. Wasn't crazy about it but the gesture was nice. I usually like opera cake, this one just seemed a bit on the dry side. Service was outstanding! Wine list was great. Cocktails were good. We loved it!!!!!

Yelp
I use to frequent Salt, now Marta has taken over this space and did not disappoint! Our group of 4 sat at a wonderful corner table by the window since we were celebrating (my) birthday. They unfortunately didn't have the wine we ordered in stock, but recommended a similar one that was OK. We had to get the bread service since it was highly recommended through reading other reviews- in my opinion it was good, not great or worth $8. We did, on the other hand, enjoy the sheep's milk ricotta and tuna cannoli. The menu has several items that looked delicious so our group had a difficult time deciding. I opted for the Osso bucco which was delicious but a very small portion (twice the price of other dishes and half the size). The branzino was the fave of the table- skin was crispy and fish was flaky! The bistecca skirt steak was also yummy and a good portion. And lastly, the Campanella was a miss for me- though there were good chunks of lobster, there was no taste of uni or leeks. And of course, we had to have dessert since we were celebrating! We got the bombolini- 4 mini donuts. We loved them! Though I was a bit disappointed that ours didn't come with a candle (since birthday was noted on our reservation) but the table next to us were also celebrating a birthday and their dessert did. When it came time to pay, we were shocked by the 3% additional credit card fee. We realize restaurants are beginning to this, but it was not mentioned prior on the website or on the menu. We only had credit cards.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Marta after hearing such good things. The food was very good and honestly probably would have been a 4 or even 5 star if it was just that. But unfortunately the place was so loud that we had to shout to hear each other, it got very hot inside, and for some odd reason our waitress got very short with us out of nowhere. Once I said "could we get some more water when you get a chance" and she snapped "you're gonna have to give me some time!" As if I had demanded water that instant. I'm sure she must have been stressed about something else but when you're paying those prices the service should at least be kind. The hits of the food were the whipped ricotta which was absolutely stellar, the beef tartare, and the squash pasta. The apple pie dessert was also excellent. I honestly don't know if I'd go back given the noise, heat and poor service.

Yelp
Marta is worth a visit! I had it bookmarked after seeing some fellow Yelpers talk about it. Believe the hype! Put this place on your list. I would describe the vibe as "casual elegant." You can come in a nice outfit but not over the top. It's not a "cheap date." Parking isn't the easiest - found a spot a few blocks up though. We had reservations for dinner. On a Tuesday night the place was packed - including the bar. Our server, Matthew was amazing. I had wanted to try "ultraviolet," a cabernet from Napa but they were out, and he provided some great alternatives. All the staff here was friendly and engaging! Thank you!! They make their own butter in house - it was so good with the bread. It's not complimentary but still order it. For my entree, I did the "Tagliatelle Tartufo" and OMG, it was good! *Chef's kiss! My dinner date did the "Pennsylvania Lamb," and he loved it! I'm not typically big on desserts but get one here. We got the "tiramisu affogato" and it was delicious. The presentation itself is great! I'm already planning my next visit - perhaps for brunch!

Yelp
Came here last minute with a friend at 5:30 on a Friday night without a reservation so we were just hoping to just score a bar seat. We were pleasantly surprised they had a two top available! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the ambiance was lovely. Not too loud. Service was also excellent. We decided to order two pasta dishes and a salad to share. They split the salad into two plates without us having to ask- lovely! The truffle pasta was rich and creamy but I really couldn't taste the truffle which was a bit disappointing. The ziti was also good but didn't blow me away. We ordered a side of crushed red pepper to spice it up a bit and it helped. We ordered the mini bomboloni for dessert and they were excellent! They were warm, fresh, and the fillings were to die for. Don't skip this! Overall, we had a great experience. I would definitely come back to try some of their entrees!

Yelp
MARTA MARTA MARTA! What a wonderful experience I had at my company dinner at Marta Fine Food and Spirits. This is a spot that was on my list for a while and I'm glad that my company hosted us to try out some drinks crudos entrees and dessert. This is an elegant restaurant not far from Patterson park it's semi intimate but has a great rustic vibe mixed with class. When I walked in I was greeted by a hostess and directed to my party I started off the night with a cocktail; Smokey the pear. It was a mezcal drink that was sweet and smoky It blended really well. The bartenders know what they are doing. Afterwards when more of my coworkers came we ordered some appetizers. We had the tuna cannoli, sheep milk risotto, arugula salad, beet carpaccio, and cacio e pepe meatballs. My favorite was the sheep milk risotto this is a must have! The sheep risotto was smooth and have a nice sweetness to It from the honey It was fresh and rich. The beet carpaccio was okay if you're under the impression that It will be the same as beef or seafood then no you're wrong. It still taste like veggies but the olive oil, FRESH! The tuna cannoli was good too but if It was more raw I think I would've liked It more After that I ordered another cocktail, the cocoa noir old fashioned. As a fan of old fashioned this was good and strong. I'm telling you these bartenders are mixologist!!! Now let's talk about the entrees. I ordered the scallops because why not. Although the waitress mentioned that the scallop were light I wanted to try It and I'm glad I did. The scallops were seared to perfection in brown butter and It was mad addicting. There was no fishy smell or taste and the scallops had a great mouth feel. My coworker across from me ordered the lamb and he said It was bussing was well. I ended my night with the tiramisu affogato which came with a table side presentation. This is a shareable dessert and rich too. If you do not like coffee this might not be the one for you. But my coffee lovers would enjoy this. I'm thankful for this experience and I'm glad I came. My waitress Greeta was nice friendly and well knowledgeable about the menu.

Yelp
Had an amazing meal here a few weekends ago! Reservations were online and easy to make. The food was perfection- the best pasta dishes I've had in awhile. The drinks were also creative and a lot of fun to try. Portions were not particularly large but they were big enough to feel satisfied at the end of the meal. Dessert did not disappoint either. We felt the price was very good compared to the quality of the meal- we have paid more for far worse food. I would definitely recommend if you love pasta and you're looking for a nice dinner out!

Yelp
After countless fabulous dinners at Marta, my friends and I decided to try our luck at brunch! We arrived and, as always, were greeted and seated promptly. Our table near the bar was perfect! Our server/bartender had our mimosas flowing in no time! One friend ordered a Smokey the Pear cocktail and said it was PEAR-fectly AMAZING! We started with Cacio e Pepe meatballs and Arancini--just enough to get the brunch vibe rolling. The asparagus soup? GET IT. Don't stop, don't think about it--JUST do it! It's soup-erb! For mains, we indulged in: - **Spaghetti alla Chitarra Carbonara**: If you like crab, cheese, and homemade pasta, this is the catch of the day! - **"DA" Burger**: You won't be saying "where's the beef" with this one. It's beef-licious! - **Eggs in Purgatory**: So divine, they made all my sins worth it! And the drinks! The Caprese Martini was MAGNIFICENT, and the Pistachio Martini for dessert? To die for! I need these cocktails all day, every day. They really raised the bar! Service was spot on, as always! Needless to say, Marta didn't play with this brunch--they slayed!

Yelp
Spent around $65-$80 per person- this is if you want a starter, drink, entree and dessert. The bread is a good shareable. Not good value, as it's $8, but when in Rome.. 6/10 The butter seemed to be a little earthy and might've even had some cheese mixed into the spread? Not sure, but it was tasty and not too overpowering This was the BEST Caesar salad that I've ever had, in life. Perfect rations of cheese, dressing. Good consistency of greens. The crouton sheet was fun.10/10 The bolognese is a great flavor. When having red sauce, you think in your mind that the toast won't be super interesting, but it was really good. 8/10 The steak (Prepared M or MR) was tender, juicy, seasoned and delicious. That whole dish was the star of the show 9/10 I asked to create my own mocktail, and my waiter obliged me. Shoutout to him for answering my questions with confidence and being attentive. I mixed strawberry with lime juice and pear syrup, with a hint of agave and club soda. $13 7/10 The tagliatelle truffle pasta was so good. Not too creamy, either. The flavors are mild enough to not be irritating. 9/10 The tiramisu was delicious- I ate every bite and I'm not even an "order dessert in the restaurant " type of guy.. 10/10 The ambiance was date night dinner vibes.. a little loud, but manageable. You're close to the party at the table next to you. All of the staff was nice, though

Yelp
Great food and service. Had my birthday dinner here and it was wonderful. Loved the options for a non-seafood person too. Ambiance is high end, but I didn't feel out of place in just jeans and a sweater.

Yelp
Last night my son and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at Marta. Not only was the food impeccable but the service was spectacular. Lane and Alisdair endeavored to make our dinner a memorable occasion. I particularly enjoyed the Goat Cheese appetizer! Thanks to the staff for my birthday treat at the end of the meal!

Yelp
Amazing! Exceptional! Fantastic! So many positive things to say about Marta that I will start from the cocktails and move through one of the best dining experiences we have enjoyed in a long while, ending with dessert! The cocktails enjoyed were the last herb, a crimson & clover Negroni, and a grey fog. Each one stood out on its own merits, showcasing a superbly executed cocktail program. Our choices of the tuna cannoli and sheep's milk ricotta served the four of us perfectly. The sesame garlic crust on the cannolis was such a great contrast to the freshness of the yellowfin tuna. All of us agreed that the grilled ciabatta bread allowed the truffle honey drizzled across the sheep's milk ricotta & toasted pistachios to shine. Two of our party couldn't fathom sharing their dish of spaghetti alla chitarra carbonara & they were not disappointed. The blue crab is a treat of an addition to an already perfectly balanced dish. My husband chose the grilled branzino and I must admit, I was thrilled knowing I would have an opportunity to snag some of the cannellini beans. They were prepared exquisitely-firm yet moist. The overall presentation is impressive on this dish and the flavors matched the look. I opted for the duck and foie gras panzotti. Oh my! The most unctuous meal I have had the pleasure of eating in years! The ravioli is stuffed with duck & foie gras. The sauce highlighted saba marinated cherries & sunchoke chips. I felt like I had hit the lottery as I shared bites with my husband. All through this dining experience Sandra (formerly on the check receipt as Alessandra) was excellent. Right there with an offer to refill water, check on food quality, and replenish wine. Her suggestions of the strawberry panna cotta and the apple crostada for dessert made for the perfect end to an amazing dinner with family. Then my husband added on the Amaro tasting! Fabulous! I felt transported back to Italy!

Yelp
Went over the weekend for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was great and their presentation is everything. I have mixed opinions on the food. Their bread and butter was absolutely delicious ($8 - not complimentary) and presented beautifully. Our large party also shared the sheep's milk ricotta. I did not enjoy it at all. It was a very sweet tasting cheese not savory. Half our party of 9 enjoyed it and the other half did not. One person ordered the oysters and she did not enjoy them. Our entrees however, were all delicious. 4 of us, including myself, got the lemon ricotta pancake souflee which was so fluffy and delicious! One person got the chicken Milanese, another the eggs in purgatory, someone else the bodega sandwhich, another the eggs benedict, and one person got the duck and foie gras panzotti. The menu is definitely unique so if you are a picky eater you may not find something that you enjoy - but i do recommend giving Marta's a try! We also enjoyed various cocktails all were good except one. We had pineapple mimosas, cranberry mimosas, strawberry mimosas, the nutty professor, an apple spritz, a negroni, the fig and fable (did not like), and the lemon cake drink.

Yelp
With many accolades as one of the city's best new restaurants, I walked in on a Tuesday evening around 8:30 p.m. without a reservation and got a spot at the bar. Here's my experience. 1) Food: For dinner, I got the meatballs and the Caesar salad. Both were great, especially the meatballs. The cheese sauce it comes with is divine and the grilled bread helped me swipe it all up from the bowl. The salad was good, especially with the parmesan chip on top, but I was hoping it would be a bit unique. It's not- just a standard Caesar salad. 2) Drinks: The menu is large with house cocktails for $15, beer, and even an amaro tasting. Enjoying sweet drinks, I got he In The Fif of Thyme, but it was way too sweet and had an odd taste. 3) Service: The bartender was kind and attentive. My food came out within ten minutes of ordering. 4) Space: It's small, but beautiful with two dining rooms and a bar. There are several restrooms. 5) Parking: It took me awhile to find an open spot, but I found a few free spots along Patterson Park.

Yelp
I've dined at Marta's 3x - twice for dinner, once for brunch. Brunch: lemon ricotta pancake soufflé was lackluster, the smoked salmon rosti was delightful and star of what we ordered, the bread and butter was not only beautiful but delicious, pasta was good but not showstopping. Brunch cocktails were delicious. Service: attentive and friendly at each visit Vibe: super cute, small and intimate space, every dish and drink very aesthetically pleasing

Yelp
Overall the food was pretty good. Ricotta with bread- amazing, loved the truffled honey Did not enjoy the yellowtail crudo too much The pasta dishes were pretty standard.

Yelp
Around 3.5 stars for me. We've heard good things about this place and finally made reservations to try it for lunch on a Sunday morning. We were the second group in the restaurant, getting there a little after it opened. We got seated in the bar area. We decided to stick with water and fill up on food over drinks. We decided to get the carbonara, the eggs in purgatory, DA burger, and the lemon ricotta pancake souffle. Our waiter was awesome, switching occasionally with the bartender. The food took a long time, even with the restaurant not too busy. The pasta came first as our appetizer. It was our favorite dish of the meal. The pasta is handmade and really good. I think this is the only thing I'd get again. The eggs in purgatory was fine. It came with one piece of bread, I wish there was more. The burger was okay. It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it'd be with foie Gras in it. There wasn't that fatty flavor - you could barely taste it. The pancake took a very long time to get to us. It was suppose to be like a dessert, but it honestly took way too long to come out to us. Some of the edges were a little burnt. I want to come back to try the other pasta and dinner dishes. Brunch was a little lackluster. The food took a long time and it was fine. The restaurant itself is very pretty and trendy.

Yelp
This is one of the best meals you'll have in Baltimore! We have been to Marta 4 times now, and every time we are blown away. For starters, the bread and butter and cacio pepe meatballs are musts, but we have also enjoyed the yellowtail, tuna cannoli, lobster salad and arancini. All of the pasta amazing, you cannot go wrong! Some highlights from the entrees are the bistecca and the Dover sole. I cannot say enough good things about Marta. This is our go to place when taking friends and family out!

Yelp
Marta is a cute fine seafood restaurant nestled in between Fells Point and Canton near Patterson Park that is among the elite restaurants in Baltimore. We have been to Marta twice, and each time we were greeted with a friendly staff, variety of food options, and an outstanding dining experience. I personally would recommend the tuna cannoli and foie gras terrine as appetizers. From there, you can't go wrong with the Spaghetti alla Chitarra Carbonara or the Campanelle Zafferano (pictured). If you find yourself searching for new places to go for date night, a family dinner, or an al fresco meal to catch up with an old friend, Marta is your answer. This is a must try for all foodies in the area! 5/5

Yelp
I had dinner with my husband and some friends at Marta a few weeks ago and I liked it but didn't love it. The menu was larger than a lot of restaurants nowadays, which actually made us really struggle to order (and I say that as a person that often struggles to choose what to eat). Too many options is a thing for me, and Marta's menu has a lot on it (4 raw starters, 9 antipasti/appetizers, 8 pastas, and 8 entrees). We shared the: tuna cannoli (okay), oysters (loved the pink peppercorn granita), Caesar salad (good version), Sheep's Milk Ricotta (pretty good), spaghetti alla chitarra carbonara (pretty good), campanelle zafferano (not our favorite), and agnolotti dal plin (pasta winner at our table - very good). I can't remember if we got a dessert or not. We had some wine and some cocktails, which I remember all being good. Parking in the area can be tough, but we found street parking a few blocks away - could have been worse. The restaurant is understated but comfortable - we had a corner table with booth on one side near the bar. The service was really good - very attentive and friendly. Overall, definitely not a bad meal - just one that didn't stand out to me among restaurants I've been to in Baltimore. Definitely had a nice neighborhood vibe to it and worth visiting if you live in or are in the area.

Hands down, Marta is one of the best restaurants in the city! My husband and I went recently went for dinner and were blown away by the ambiance, service, and delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend for a date night and/or special occasion!

Yelp
I absolutely loved our experience at Marta and I cannot wait to come back! The inside is decorated so chic and elegant yet cool. The bar is pretty large and there is scattered table seating throughout. The service was incredible, everyone was so friendly and attentive! The food was incredible. The beef tartare appetizer was perfect, so fresh and tender. The Filet Rossini was more than I expected, it has a 3 oz foie gras on top, plus a biscuit on the bottom. The perfect bite with all the elements combined is divine! My fiancée ordered the agnolotti del plin and loved it. The sauce was flavorful, the pasta was amazing, and the veggies were fresh. We can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

Yelp
This is currently my favorite restaurant in Baltimore, and I would even venture to say it beats my old favorites in Philadelphia where I recently moved from. This place is 100% worth the splurge. The food is just exceptional, and it was a meal that I won't forget. The dishes are elegant and creative, and yet somehow unpretentious. Maybe just because this is Baltimore, the restaurant lacked the snooty ambience that one might expect these dishes would draw. Service was excellent. There were many surprising bites - unexpected bits of tart, or creamy. I am looking forward to my next meal at Marta's.

Yelp
Decided to book a last minute rezzie at Marta for a date night, we were so lucky to snag one so quickly. The place was PACKED, a little hard to hear conversation but service was pretty efficient. But it makes me happy to see a small business thriving on a Sunday night. Our waiter was very nice and amicable but forgot our appetizer :/ But it's ok, they didn't add it to the bill so I appreciate not having to battle that. The Smokey Pear drink was fabulous- not too smoky or sweet, the perfect mezcal drink! The dishes we got were good. I got the garganelli pesto. Not my favorite pesto in the city but the fresh pasta was quite good. We also got the campanelle which was good but could've used a little more seasoning. The dessert menu looked amazing but we were very full from our meal and were very satisfied with the portions. I would like to come back again and give it another try, perhaps for brunch or drinks & dessert!

Yelp
Marta is a gem in Baltimore. Intimate restaurant with a rotating menu and phenomenal drinks. Last time I went we shared everything and I'm so thankful we did since I got to try so many things! Our server was very enthusiastic and helpful with recommendations. I would also recommend getting a bunch of plates to share and definitely try multiple pastas! The beets dish has been on the menu for a bit and is phenomenal. Super flavorful and savory! The sea bass I had was amazing and the mushroom ravioli was so good and buttery!

Yelp
First impression was "parking is a nightmare" lol, but I was on a mission to try this restaurant as I e heard so many great things. Once I found parking I was lucky enough to find a sit at the bar. The ambience is nice, chill but pretty if that makes sense. My bartender was Zach and his service was good, he also gave me some good suggestions. The food was so good. I had the meatballs, the duck and foie gras and for dessert I tried the strawberry panna cotta, tbey were all amazing. For drinks I tried the southern tea and I wanted to try the Strawberry Basil cocktail but the bartenders never made it when I requested it. All in all it was a cool experience and I would definitely go back.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint! It has a very cozy, but romantic vibe. A very nice date spot. Visited on 3/24z We had a reservation, but we got there earlier and they seated us right away! The drinks were delicious. We had the Apple cider mimosa, the afternoon delight, and the grey fog. All were strong and delicious. The apps were delicious. We had the yellowtail and steak tartare. Both were presented very luxuriously! For entrees, we had the truffle tagliatelle and the spaghetti carbonara. 10/10 for both. The portions look small but are VERY filling. The tiramisu was the star of the show I had to film it. The fresh espresso complimented the flavored of the tiramisu! I highly recommend this place and will definitely return!

Yelp
I was so excited when Marta opened up in the old Salt location on Baltimore and Collington. If you were sad to see Salt go, then you will love Marta. It has a mildly eclectic menu, for instance, sashimi style appetizers, but pasta mains. We tried raw yellowtail that was served on tiny apple discs. At the table, the waiter poured on a hibiscus sauce to finish it off. It was light, refreshing, and delicious. The meatball appetizer came covered in some sort of ricotta sauce that I almost licked out of the bowl. This is definitely the kind of place you'll want to go to with a person who will share their dish with you. Everything we tried was better than expected. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and helpful, and when we had questions about drinks, she got the bar manager to give us very detailed answers. The only downside to this experience was the terrible, very bad, no good chairs. They are the type of wooden chairs with no padding and no back support that were popular in Italian restaurants in the 80s. We skipped dessert because we just couldn't stand to sit in them any longer.

Yelp
I have been to Marta twice now and here is my experience. The service here is amazing. Both times our waiters were super helpful. You could tell that both of them knew the menu and gave helpful suggestions on what to get. The space is really small. You need to reserve a seat ahead of time. First time we came here they were able to squeeze us in at the bar but it looked like most people had reservations. The food is great! Their butter is homemade so I recommend trying the bread and butter. Bread was a little hard but butter was delicious! So far I have liked all the pastas I have gotten, with the bolognese being my favorite!

Yelp
We were big fans of Salt and didn't even realize this was the same location. Everything was really nice except for the food...which was freaking spectacular! It's a little loud, a little small, whatever...we had 5 things and we'd order them all again. Dubious start with the foie gras which looked pallid at best, but was some of the best I've had in years. This is exactly the local place we're happy to drive from Annapolis for...and if you're even closer, you have zero excuses not to try this little gem.

Yelp
TL;DR this is my new favorite restaurant in Baltimore. I've heard nothing but good things about Marta for the past year or so and it's been on my list. My man surprised me with dinner reservations here for my birthday and I was so happy he did! I might be biased because the menu happened to have every single one of my favorite dishes - whipped ricotta, lobster ravioli, and donuts. Everything we had was top tier but I was so impressed by the menu that I will likely try new dishes the next time we go. Which would usually feel risky and make me anxious, but I trust that every dish here is good. DRINKS- I ordered the ""Mela Frizzante"" and didn't realize it had cinnamon in it. The waiter took it back with no hesitation and brought over the ""Long Winter"" instead. This was pretty good, but I'd probably try a different drink next time! APPETIZER- Sheep's Milk Ricotta 10/10 - amazing! I thought the bread portion was a bit small...ratio of crostinis to whipped ricotta seemed off. Comes with 3 crostini pieces. We were ready to order some additional bread but the waiter caught on and before we could, offered to bring us some more crostini to finish off our whipped ricotta. and the crostini came out so warm!! Absolutely delicious. Loved the truffle honey too! ENTREE- Lobster Raviolo 10/10 - this was almost too beautiful to eat. but I'm glad I decided to eat it anyway. lobster ravioli is my go-to dish so I've had it many times, but this was my first time having it as raviolo (one big pasta noodle). It was a fun take on the dish and I would definitely order again. this was a chef's special so not sure how long they will be offering this dish! Honey Glazed Seabass 10/10 - delicious! It came with this beautiful lobster caviar sauce. My husband's dish so I just had a little taste. But it was yummy!" DESSERT- Bombolini 10/10 - Love donuts so I HAD to order these. Loved how they each came with a different filling. I am not a fan of lemon-flavored dessert so I replaced the lemon filling one with another hazelnut. I was stuffed by the time the donuts came out but they were so good that I ate them all!! SERVICE The service was amazing! Waiter was friendly and attentive. I ended up meeting the head chef on the way out who was very kind!

Yelp
I'm so glad Marta has established itself in Upper Fells because it is a gem of a place! I have been here several times now and I cannot race enough about the food. While the entire menu is delightful, the star of the show is the tuna cannoli. Do yourself a favor and try it! The entrees are generously portioned, so sharing multiple items is possible. The cocktail and wine menus are extensive. My favorite cocktails have been the spritzes, but you really cannot go wrong. To top it all off the service is fast and every server and bartender I've interacted with have been so friendly and helpful. Get yourself over to this cute and cozy corner of Upper Fells ASAP!

Yelp
Marta was an amazing experience! The Bronzino was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I love that they used beans instead of your typical mashed potato. The tuna cannoli had the perfect crunch on the outside and the yellowfin was fresh. I'm sure this is a favorite. The restaurant is dim and quiet, but they also have a bar which seems perfect for a nice cocktail with friends. This is the perfect date night spot.

Yelp
This place was great! The food was great, service was awesome too but the Dover sole took a long time to cook. Was a chic simple restaurant. Ambiance was nice. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Marta Marta Marta! It was on our list for date night and we finally made it. Go at night y'all. It's so cute inside and definitely has a date night vibe to it. We sat in the back of the restaurant but were treated well. Our server was patient and made great recommendations. My pasta was delicious. I wouldn't get crazy and call it the best in the city, but not bad for a place with ambiance too. In some places you have to choose and this was not one of them. I was not too crazy about my drink but I'm picky about my bartenders so nothing to complain about. Just switched to drinking straight vs a cocktail and all was well. Parking was tough so we had to park and walk. Now my wife and I don't mind but if your not down for a good walk, you may want to come during less busy hours. Overall it was a great experience and I would certainly go back. 5 stars based on service and ambiance alone.

Yelp
This was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had in baltimore! The portions aren't huge, but the food is beyond amazing. We started with the yellowtail and the lobster salad (with onions and dressing on the side). The yellowtail comes in five bite size pieces - each was full of flavor- a little salty, a hint of scallion, and smooth yellowtail. This was my favorite dish. The lobster salad had a combo of basil, crunch of jicama, creamy ricotta (which I don't even normally like), amazing lobster and combined with the acidity of the tomato. We didn't even add the dressing because it was just beyond amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the artichokes almost tasted like potatoes, there was a cream on the plate that made the perfect dip-- and the dish was flavored nicely without being overly so. My husband got the pasta uni and said it was good but he would try something else next time (uni can be a weird flavor). And for dessert, we got the mango cheesecake which was out of this world. I don't usually fruit desserts, but this place crushed it! I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Yelp Loveeys?!?!??!?! What y'all doin? Listen.... SWYD & head over to Marta!!!!!!!! It's national "drink wine day" and where better to go indulge, than over at Marta? We stopped in for after dinner cocktails, which turned into a great time with the amazing staff including bartender extraordinaire, Ian and stunningly gorgeous Holly that also crafted me an awesome cocktail. If wine isn't really your thing, they make an "express lane" signature martini here that I think it's safe to crown Baltimore's BEST espresso martini. It was so good and goes well with the opera cake. We also loooooved the yellowfin tuna canoli small plate and would not hesitate to get the Tuscan fried chicken wings again with that yummy garlic aioli they come with. These aren't your sports bar style wings... They're like wings for grown ups lol, which by the way... I also adoooored about Marta... the atmosphere wasn't kid-friendly and more suited for an adults' night on the town or romantic date night, or ladies night to get dressed up and enjoy without the babies in tow. 'Twas such an awesome vibe and didn't feel stuffy or pretentious at all... The old school soul music playing was like the cherry on top to a pretty stellar experience in a beautiful space with outstanding food and drinks and Marta's very cool staff whose hospitality will make us return again and again. If you haven't made Valentine's weekend reservations yet, I'd suggest trying to get in here. The space is intimate with limited tables and seating.

Yelp
Not a long review here because it's all been said. Honestly this is one of the best restaurants in Baltimore. I highly recommend this place. What an enjoyable dinner.

Yelp
A wonderful new neighborhood restaurant & bar in my neighborhood! It's such a cute place and definitely much needed in our neighborhood! The food is deliciosos, we are vegetarian and got the vegetarian pastas-- the squash was my favorite! The bread was also incredible-- the oil has some delicious pesto in it and I couldn't stop eating it! They have delicious drinks as well and great cocktails! We got the opera cake for dessert and I would highly recommend that! The service was great and they were accommodating of our reservation (we called but you can also make it online!) Parking in the neighborhood can sometimes be difficult depending on the day, but usually you can park within a block or two with no problem!

Yelp
When the beau sent me the link to Marta for our upcoming visit to Baltimore I was immediately impressed with the menu. Upon arriving, Paul made us feel very welcome and special. The place was abuzz on a Friday night so we felt like we were part of something cool and hip. We ordered cocktails, the Last Herb and Mela Frizzante, and were told that they would be sending out something special for us. The beef tartare arrived (something neither of us would normally order) and while the beau enjoyed it more than I, we were both very grateful for the special treat. Our server was a delight, able to answer our questions and steer us into ordering just the right things. We enjoyed the beet carpaccio which in my eyes now sets the standard for every beet salad. Next we split the Campanelle Zafferano and the Honey Glazed Sea Bass. Both dishes were superb and so light that we had room for dessert. May I recommend you finish your stunning meal with the Strawberry Panna Cotta. The beau officially declared this the best dish of the evening. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The hype is real!

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite Italian restaurants ever. Every dish was fantastic, I can't recommend this place enough. You will not be disappointed. The pesto was like changing

Yelp
Went for a birthday dinner and it was such an amazing experience! Our server was phenomenal! The food was delicious. We ordered the sheep's milk ricotta and the meatballs to start- both were amazing! I got the Campanella zaffaron pasta which was delicious- but if I were to go back I would order the carbonara. Very cute interior as well. Love the exposed brick.

Yelp
Marta is a swanky new spot in Butchers Hill and it's a tight squeeze in a former rowhouse so hopefully you have good neighbors. I liked the decor and vibe immediately. Unfortunately our server was not the nicest. It seemed like we were bothering him by being there and he never really seemed to warm to us for whatever reason. He forgot my husband's drink and we just saw him flirting with the hostess most of the time we were there. But, we were there for the meal. First we started with some appetizers and were excited about the tuna cannoli but they were out of it, which was really disappointing. It's your signature dish, how can you be out?! So we got the arancini, meatballs and bread and butter. Bread and butter - delish, you can't go wrong there. The arancini was the weakest and the meatballs were good but they paired them in a cheese sauce which was odd. I actually thought arancini would've been better in the cheese sauce and meatballs in the marinara. Or put that cheese sauce on some pasta because it was delicious but not with a traditional meatball. For my entree I got the campenelle zafferano con uni which was just okay - very heavy on the saffron flavor and uni isn't as successful served in a zabaglione sauce like that. My husband liked his mafalde though he said it was a little greasy on the bottom of the plate. For dessert we split the bomboloni which were very tasty, though a little dense. Definitely a good portion to split. The hazelnut and blackberry ones were the best. Not sure we're in a rush to go back, but maybe being so new they'll work out the kinks!

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about Marta. The service in incredible, from opening the door to welcome us in, to taking our photos with a positive attitude, to our awesome waiter giving us perfect recommendations, we loved the wait staff! The food was truly impeccable, we couldn't even decide what was our favorite because everything had such intricate flavor profiles that paired perfectly together and everything was so unique and different we couldn't choose a favorite! We had an amazing date night and can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
This place opened in the old Salt restaurant space last month and it is an amazing addition to the neighborhood. The service is kind and thoughtful. They have a nice cocktail menu and specialize in multiple types of negronis. The food is new Italian and complex. I enjoyed the tuna cannoli, the meatballs and the bread service. Our first roll came out a bit burned but was replaced immediately once I called it to their attention. I enjoyed both the camapanelle and the agnolotti ( butternut squash?). Definitely date night vibes with lighting that fits the ambiance. A bit spendy, but everything is these days. Worth checking out!

Yelp
Fine Dining. What does it truly mean? Is it a pompous means of throwing high quality ingredients onto a plate? Or perhaps an artistic expression of the chef's intention manifested in flavor? Idk about any of that but this food güd Marta is the culmination of what the future of fine dining should be, an unpretentious gastronomic experience that is approachable and unostentatious. Situated at the borderline between Upper Fells and Butcher's, Marta draws from the casual ambiance of the neighborhood and invites curious food enthusiasts in. The white-tiled modern architecture breathes a blank slate of creativity waiting to be experienced by patrons. One nitpick is that the inside tables to be particular clumped, leaving no extra space and maximizing guest attendance - something easily overlooked. Upon arrival, you'll find service to snappy - the FOH members are practiced and respectful, handling all members kindly. Once our food arrived, we immediately began digging in. The food was as delicious as it looked. The bistecca con salsa verde is a true example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. All parts of this dish (and the Meatballs Cacio e Pepe) were identifiable and lifted to another level due to another ingredient. It's all a fantastic showmanship of the culinary arts. There's so much to praise and go on about - but words aren't as effective as actually going. So if you're ever in the area and have the time to enjoy a well-crafted dish in all of its fullness, try out Marta Fine Food and Spirits.
