HIGHLY RECOMMEND - If you’re looking for one of the best bakeries in Queens look no further! The variety in cakes and other sweets is beyond imagination. With dozens of options to choose from there’s something in Martha’s for everyone. I would recommend the chocolate mouse and carrot cake as they were rich with flavor. I also ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake but would not recommend that to anyone as it wasn’t that great. The slices are expensive but I think they are worth it because they taste phenomenal! As far as the service goes, it was good. The waitress who took my tables order was very helpful and went above and beyond to give us recommendations. The bakery is very busy especially at nights and you may have to wait for seating but even then I was able to get a table in a reasonable time and get my order quick. The atmosphere of the place is very compact. The seating is very tight and you will have no elbow space if sitting with a group. If you’re looking for spacious seating to relax and try desserts would recommend take out but if you don’t mind the crowd then I would encourage dine in. Overall, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Martha’s Country Bakery as their desserts are in a league of their own. Whether you want to dine in or not depends on your preference of seating but I would personally dine in again when I go back.

First time trying Martha’s! I had their layered chocolate cake and raisin bread pudding. The chocolate cake was delicious I loved that it was evenly layered and not overly sweet. The bread pudding was okay. I guess I expected a little more from it, but overall it was decent. I’ll definitely be back to try more items! 🍰

Called a day in advance to see if they have a cheese cake in the store for next day pick up, confirm with lady over the phone there was one and I can come next morning to get the cake. Went in the store around 10:50 and paid for the cake. When I got to the birthday party open the cake, it not a cheese cake but a berry napoleon cake…. Called the store about this issue and was told to bring back the cake to exchange for the correct cake but we were already 1 hour away from the bakery at this point. Was told they were suppose to show us the cake before sealing it which the cashier at the time did not show me the cake before sealing. Birthday boy can’t even have the cake cause his allergic to berries, what a great birthday thank you Martha’s! If your gonna order anything from here make sure you double check before they even seal the product cause you will not get any sort of compensation for their mistake.

My friends and I really lucked out coming in on a very cold evening, table seating was available, and the line was only a few people. Service was fast and friendly, the pastries and cakes lived up to its hype, and the seating area was clean. Price reflects quality, especially if you're doing table service (there is a minimum per guest at certain times.) If you are sensitive to price, then do take out. There is such a beautiful of cakes, slices, cookis and cupcakes, it is hard to choose! But the triple berry napoleon pastry was the favorite, messy, and exceptional. Enjoy!

Google
My review is only on one particular menu item: the cheese danish. For the most part, the bakery is the best at popping out cakes and pies, as that is what they’re known for. But I made the mistake of trying their morning pastries. The instant I took it out of the bag and took a look at it I knew I was in for trouble. It didn’t even look like a pasty. It was cold, hard, and it tasted like semi cooked dough. Nothing about it was soft, warm or flaky. They should either call it a biscuit or scone. I felt like I was some street rat pauper child from the scene of Les Miserables in the rainy dark dirty street eating some hard piece of … jumble of baking Ingridients that got thrown out on the street as inedible garbage. I had to ask the staff if it was baked in house? They said yes but I find it hard to believe. I would think only a machine in a factory could make such a pastry-atrocity and be able to call it a cheese danish. I was only able to eat the outside crust. Imagine throwing it off the cliff of the Grand Canyon and it being able to survive in tact. That is what this thing is, definitely a ‘cheese danish’ it is not.

Google
Great service but the line was long but for good reason. It’s has so many dessert options. You can dine in and out. Good treats . It’s expensive not going to lie but if you really craving it . It’s worth it.

Google
Went on a weekend night and it was crowded! It represents how tasty their pastries and cakes are. The very berry napoleon pastry was so good! The cappuccino was good and strong. Prices are slightly higher than some other local bakeries, but the quality and taste are worth the cost.

Google
Martha’s Country Bakery is a gem in the middle of Queens! I went with a friend late in the evening, and they were serving up an incredible selection of desserts, bakery treats, and hot chocolate. The cakes looked absolutely delicious, and the hot chocolate was perfect for a cozy, chilly evening. Despite the place being quite crowded, the vibe was spot on. We also had dessert, and it was just as delicious as it looked. Definitely a sweet spot worth visiting!

Yelp
This has to be one of my favorite bakeries on Bell. The shop is extremely quaint and I will definitely be coming back here often. Pros: + Great for date night + Wonderful gifts - highly recommend the butter cookies + Love love love the triple chocolate cakes + Fast speedy take-away options IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
Always seen Martha's Country Bakery in forest hills but never stopped by since I don't like sweets that much.. Well I was passing by this location so we finally got some cake to try. It was packed early in the evening but the line went rather quickly. Seriously there's a hostess for a bakery... I got a chocolate fudge while L had the chocolate layer cake.. more frosting. We preferred our own slices. It was good but $18 is too much for 2 slices of cake. Though I have paid more for smaller treats but it has to be more unique and creative. Again a good slice of slice... but nothing special. Also mine was not stale since I looked at what was popular. Only a few slices left. It was sweet but not ridiculously so and it was perfect with some organic milk.

Yelp
Buyer beware ! Ask for what's is fresh today! They allow stale and past due food to be sold. I have been going to this bakery for the occasional slice of cake for many years. It is very hit or miss sadly. Yesterday I spent twenty dollars for a stale scone, terrible latte ( barista skills matter !) and an at least 3 day old slice of peanut butter cheesecake. I could completely tell that the cake had been sitting for a number of days. This is really sad considering they take up a large piece of real estate on the block. Never bother with the French macarons unless your eating them there. This way you can ask for a refund when they are a week old. Another bakery ,French workshop, is 4 blocks away, it is less common to receive stale items here. I could have gone back to complain but it was a big hassle at the time. A quality bakery never sells old food. It's better to not have an item stocked.

Yelp
Ive been here every since a kid! I love this place and theres so many different options! I always get rhe chocolate fudge cake or a napolian! The slices are huge and theyre sooo good. We came around 8pm on a saturday and there was a good handful of people. The line moved super fast and the worker helped me choose which cake and what the difference was. Theres plenty of seating.

Yelp
Martha's has been a neighborhood staple and deserves to be recognized as one of the best bakeries in town. Their consistent quality, essential selection and reasonable price point make this my go to spot for a sweet treat for myself or to pick up something nice for a loved one. Seating is limited and lines are long during peak hours, so come during off peak hours if you can. The staff are busy so you really need to know what you want ahead of time. Cozy lighting and a great atmosphere for conversation.

Yelp
We have brought desserts home from here many times. Lots of great selections. This time we got an Oreo Cheesecake. Lots of flavor and very rich. Some of the employees could be a little nicer. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Yelp
Right on bell Blvd next to the LIRR. Usually busy, there are seating for those who want to stay and eat. Rustic bakery feel inside. They offer variety of coffee/espresso drinks, hot chocolate. All types of cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, loafs. Mississippi mud pie is sweet and chocolatey. Carrot cake most times have been good. Lemon poppy loaf is delicious. Cake pops are good. Because they are in a heavy traffic area, there is usually a line.

Yelp
Came here the day before Christmas and there was a line out the door. I got the berry napoleon cake and it was delicious! Not too sweet. Probably would've been crispier if I ate it the same day I got it but still was great after a day. Would definitely come back to order another cake.
google avatar

Evelyn N.

Yelp
Martha's never misses but I wish they would add signs for their items. Definitely on the pricier side for cakes but the taste never disappoints. Ordered a very berry napoleon for a friend's engagement gathering and the custard was chef's kiss.

Yelp
Neighborhood staple. I've always heard good things about the cupcakes here and seen the lines. I came at 4:30pm on a Sunday and there was no line. But it took a while for someone to help me. They have 3 items that are gluten and dairy free. They have a strawberry cake slice, a chocolate cake slice, and a carrot cake slice. I ended up opting to try to carrot cake slice. It's kind of expensive -- I paid $10 for one slice of carrot cake. I found it was good but nothing special. If I came back id try the strawberry cake slice since that seems to be more popular.

Yelp
Ah, this place has been a long time favorite. Usually packed with people in here with a line out the door. Haven't been here in a long while but with relatives in town, we brought them here to impress. The counter windows are just filled to the brim with so many delicious looking, mouthwatering pastries. Not to mention the aromas. As usual, this place bustling/ hustling with worker bees and customers sitting enjoying Italian treats and drinks. Not to mention, the long double line of customers waiting for takeout pastries, to enjoy the delights at home. The inside of this place is so packed. Not as good as I remember though. The Berry Napoleon, my favorite, was way more cream than flaky pastry. I kinda thought it should be the other way around. But I'm sure, Sweet Tooths out there would disagree. Still good though. Relatives scarfed it down, so no issues there. Berries were super fresh and sweet. Tasted a bite of the Tiramisu. Liquor flavor is pretty strong. Rainbow cookies, a childhood favorite. Never had them from here, but with kids in tow, we gotta get some. After a tasting, not my favorite rendition. The layers of jam were too thick for the tiny size of these cookies, which rendered them just way to sweet for my taste. Also the layer of chocolate could have been thicker. Still good though, since the kids scarfed them down. Tables. Tightly packed. And often, right next to people standing around waiting for takeout. Price. Expensive, so bring a big wad. Still on the hunt for the best Rainbow cookies.

Yelp
My family purchased a Tiramisu Cake from Martha's Country Bakery for my birthday. This was my first time having Tiramisu Cake since I usually go for their cheesecakes. The Tiramisu Cake has lady fingers cookies soaked in espresso and Kahlua, mascarpone cheese filling with chocolate sponge cake, decorated with chocolate shavings/cocoa powder. This cake was so light, fluffy, and moist. I usually don't like chocolate but the chocolate wasn't heavy and not dark chocolate. It was a good size for 4 people and has at least 8 servings; we couldn't finish it all.

Yelp
Always come to this staple in bayside bell blvd and as always counter staff was helpful...everthing was normal until a hispanic man today was staring at me and into my soul up and down and made me feel uncomfortable. Even the person helping me im pretty sure saw it too....He even went to the corner of the whole store to keep staring at me while i was trying to get my transaction finalized. Some men are digusting in this world, nobody should go through this in any busines. I feel very bad for and scared for the girls that have to go through this...And before i left i made sure i said a comment clearly for him to hear me and know why i said what i said. I dont feel comfortable going in there again..

Yelp
Great pastries and drinks. Excellent service. Nice and clean. Highly recommend. Never disappoint

Yelp
I arrived at Forest Hills Stadium an hour early for a show I was going to with friends. I decided to kill some time and get a cannoli from this bakery I had seen last time I was here. This place always seems like it's busy so it must be good. The cannoli itself was incredible and came out to around $6. If you're looking to grab a sweet treat around forest hills, this right here is the place to go.

Yelp
Prices are more expensive when sitting in Bakery. Takes away from country bakery feel.

Yelp
I'm beyond disappointed with Martha's! Their desserts are pretty good, but the service has become downright awful. Last time I visited, the workers were as slow as molasses, but tonight (7/12/24) was even worse. After waiting in line for 15 minutes, the female Indian cashier completely skipped over me and took the order of the person behind me. Then another employee did the same thing, skipping me again to serve the person behind. Seriously, am I invisible?! When I asked the same cashier if there was a line to place orders, she rudely said, "Right here." I told her I was waiting and she had skipped me, and she just rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever, I said next!" There are so many great bakeries in the area. I definitely won't be coming back to Martha's!

Yelp
This used to be the greatest place to go and grab some cake but we went last Friday night and it was really an underwhelming experience. We were seated pretty quickly and the server wasn't very nice. At first I ordered a slice of cherry pie with a scoop of ice cream. When it came out, it genuinely looked like someone had stepped on it. First thing you do is eat with your eyes and it did not look appealing at all. I brought the server over and had them change my pie for a slice of red velvet cake. It tasted so sweet, I couldn't take any more than two bites before calling it quits. It's tough to write this because I have so many fun memories at Martha's but my latest experience makes me now want to go back again.

The Review Guru ..

Yelp
As an Update from my last visit on the prices that went up 2 bucks, looks like the portions too got a little bigger? I hope it wasn't a fluke, but my scoop of vanilla ice cream looked a lot bigger and my CHOCOLATE FUDGE cake slice could be slightly bigger?, but I am not sure? I really hope that I wasn't just dreaming? Two thumbs up if it stays that way on a $19 dollar bill for 2 cups of coffee, scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and a chocolate fudge slice of cake. I frequent that establishment and I will check back another time and report my findings on the new portions if it wasn't a mistake? All in all I still would highly recommend Martha's continued allure to their large selection of pastries, ice cream take out and dining experience. The Review Guru Long Island NY

Yelp
Turned off by being over charged / manipulation of receipt. Been a customer for over 8 years. We always stop and get over $50 worth of pastries, same as my family either at this location or their others. And this is the first time we have had issues regarding charged purchases and what is finalized with my credit card. I've never encountered this before that a business would change my tipped amount on my receipt, especially a business I frequent. Their price tag has risen a lot (napoleon 8.50 a slice and the slices are smaller and virtually no fruit now). It's no longer worth the price tag especially with this incident. Beware and keep an eye on your receipts. I called and follow up with this issue and it was quickly rectified. However it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Luis G.

Yelp
Prices crazy high and staff is slow. ...........................................................

Yelp
If you order a cupcake and they put it a plastic cup they charge you 75 cents more and won't even tell you. That's wild.
google avatar

Cathie P.

Yelp
After a quick Chinese meal we came across the street for dessert. This is a very popular and busy bakery with lots of different options. I opted for the Berry Napoleon. The only complaint I have is that when they brought out my slice, the pastry was soggy and stale. I rarely return my food but at the prices they charge, I couldn't let it go. Especially when several fresh Berry napoleons were brought out while we were waiting for our order, Now I understand orders by the slice will not be from the most recently baked, but I would expect that it should at least taste as if it were. This slice had definitely been sitting there a while. The waiter did happily replace with a fresh slice, the pastry was crispy this time, the way it is supposed to be. I gave this place 4 stars because I genuinely like this bakery but I would hover at 3.5 stars because of the prices and the initially stale slice.

Yelp
If you want something good cake and pastries, Martha's is one of the best definitely in my top 5 list. I have been to all 3 bakeries in queens. So the one on bell blvd was last one ,it lived up to the rest of them. My first impression of the bakery was I feel like I have been here before lol. I got the good ole Martha's vibe the dem lights. The famous brick interior, gives you the Martha vibe know matter which one you go to. Good customer and good location, couldn't have choose a better location the bell blvd. One of my favorite restaurant area.

Yelp
I need to start off by saying i absolutely LOVE Martha's Bakery!!!!! Martha's has the ultimate comfort food and I can't get enough. This nutella cheesecake was the BEST thing I have had yet from the menu. It was so sweet & soft, it melted in my mouth. The hot chocolate was so rich and creamy, and I like how they added a little touch with chocolate chips. I already miss it. I'm planning to go back soon writing this review. The service is so quick too & we were seated right away.

Sal G.

Yelp
$49 for a 7" strawberry shortcake is insane. As of sept 2024. Is the cake good? Yes. Is it the best, No! Especially for that price tag. Just for comparison after I ordered the cake from this bakery and was shocked by the price increase since the last time I ordered I called up other good bakeries just for a price comparison for the same cake in a 7" size. All were in the mid 30s price range. Buttercooky bakery was $36 and I think tastes better than Martha's. Martha's glaze they put on top of the strawberries was too sweet and not good. There are way better options for people to go to and unfortunately this will be the last time I buy a cake from here. If the cake tasted amazing I could justify the price but it's nothing special
google avatar

Nitika G.

Yelp
Went on a late Saturday night. There was no wait. We ordered the fruit tart & party cupcake. Both were average, nothing unique. The bakery is large and staff are nice.

Yelp
I've been here for years but today when I tried to get a table the servers were super rude and wouldn't seat us even though it was someone in our party of 3's BIRTHDAY. They even lied about how there was "too many" people in front of us even though they said it wasn't that much 2 minutes ago. Full story: When I came in, there was a line of people waiting outside, and since it was 10:00 at night I didn't really think about getting a table since it was so late. However, since it was someone's birthday and by tradition we usually eat the cake there, we changed our minds and asked to get a table. However, the servers would not give us a table just because we got a slice for take out. We weren't planning on taking long as we just wanted to sit down to blow a candle. They didn't even care that it was someone's birthday and started to give out random excuses such as the wait was too long and that we also had to purchase more food to sit. They didn't seem to care at all and were very cold to us. After we were about to leave they started being fake nice like saying "are you sure" and stuff like that even though it was obvious that they just were saying that to seem nicer.

Yelp
Once someone brought that pastry to our office. It was napoleon cake with Berries. That cake was 5 out of 5! I will write detailed comments. 1st paste was great ! 2nd cream is light full of flavor and light, not fat. 3 rd not all berries itself was great. There were 3 berries. 1st strawberry 3/5 little bit spoiled. 2nd blueberry, 5/5 sweet and juicy. 3rd raspberry it was 5/5 great. Very delicious napoleon pastry!

Yelp
Delicious and always a fun time. If you plan to sit and be served prepare to wait minimum 30 -50 min on weekend nights. Everyone comes here for an after dinner treat

Krystal A.

Yelp
Not my first time at Martha's, but this warranted a review. The sign at the entrance says "Wait to be seated," but no one greeted us so we had to interrupt a staff member on their phone just to be acknowledged. Once seated, we were completely ignored. My friend and I were the only customers seated inside. I had to get up to ask for dessert and tea, and even then, the staff seemed visibly annoyed, speaking rudely and rolling their eyes at me multiple times. When I asked for a slice of cake to go, they took it from a fridge that had been left open the entire time we were there, which was about an hour. To top it off, when my friend got up to pay, the staff rolled their eyes at her too, just for asking for the check. The food itself was amazing as usual, but the service today was uncomfortable.

Yelp
I've heard so many wonderful things about Martha's Country Bakery so we decided to stop in to checkout all the delightful goodness ourselves. Joy was the hostess at the front door reception area and she greeted us as we walked in; she also gave us some amazing suggestions on customer faves. It was tough trying to decide what to try and what to buy, because everything looked and smelled so mouth watering good! After carful selection and deductive reasoning from their smorgasbord of cakes, cookies and delights we chose 4 things. This was a hard process because everything we tried was better than the last thing. You have to make a month of trips to try everything they offer! So much goodness under one roof! If you're ever in the Astoria Queens area stop by Martha's Country Bakery you won't regret it. I'm looking forward to my next visit and a new fresh batch of goodies.

Yelp
I went in because the outside of the bakery was so nice looking. Looking for a peanut butter cookie, ordered was told the price was 4.95. Kinda pricey but ok. At the register the harlot charged me 5.95 after just telling me the price. I didn't buy it. I guess she decided to add herself a tip and thought I would not notice. Not cool.

Yelp
Excellent cheesecake lava cake and Apple pie. Velvet cake is nice too. Coffee is nice too.

Yelp
Honestly the best Martha's by far in Queens. I used to go to another Martha's Country Bakery in Queens but after I tried the pastries from here, I couldn't go back to the others. I absolutely love Very Berry Napoleon cake and it NEVER disappoints here. It has the perfect proportion of cream and it's crispy flaky layers. I've experienced other locations with way too much cream and it just doesn't taste as good. I also like to order the red velvet, carrot cake, and the triple chocolate layered cake. It tends to get pretty crowded and there is always someone at the door directing you to the "to go" line or to seat you if you want to eat there, so it's pretty organized. I've sat down and had dessert here maybe twice now and it does tend to get pretty loud. No complaints about service; always had someone approach us to refill our water and hadn't experienced any rude staff members. Even when getting things to go, everyone's friendly and patient.

Yelp
Got: Vegan cheese cake Price: $9 BUT it was a hulking piece of cake. Easily 3 servings Value: 7/10. Can only speak for the piece of cake above Came in after a big lunch. Was allured by the smell of the bakery. Really didn't want dessert... Mom did though. She's gluten-free and vegan. The carrot cake and the vegan cheesecake were the only two options that catered to her dietary restrictions. The two ladies at the register were attentive and detailed in explaining which items didn't have gluten/animal products. I've had plenty of vegan cheese desserts but was pleasantly surprised at Martha's rendition of vegan cheesecake. Creamy and smooth. On point from a texure standpoint. Not gritty like when cashews or nuts are used as the base. If it was made from nuts (couldn't tell exactly), bravo for getting it so smooth. The taste was slightly lacking in the acidity that is characteristic of cream cheese. Granted, this was vegan cheesecake. One of the best vegan cheesecake slices I've had. Overall: Would come back to try the more traditional items. If they can do vegan items well, my assumption is that their more popular traditional items should be on point!

Yelp
well since you guys opened in Willamsburg, it's been lovely, however today I went in to buy a cheesecake 6" for my dad's 74th birthday, and the cheesecake tastes and smells like fridge. As if it's been for a bit to long, and for $58 I wish I could take it back, but after everyone for a slice after singing happy birthday its hard to put a cake back after slicing it. Such a huge disappointment. won't be buying here anymore unless it looks fresh, however really sad.

Yelp
Love the Apple cider and the Apple pie from Martha's country bakery they are so sweet and delicious I can't even begin to describe how amazing they taste the pastries will melt in your mouth and you will be coming back for more!!!

Yelp
My first time purchasing from Martha's bakery, the line was long alittle slow moving bit it was worth it. Purchase a slice of black forest cake for $8.25, it was delicious, fresh, good size slice of cake. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
Was visiting in the area and we stopped amazing that's all I have to say it's a must try. I will definitely be back when visiting again!

Yelp
A personal favorite bakery. My mother brought me here as a kid and now I take my kids for the always freshly baked confections. Parking usually sucks.

Yelp
Stopped by on a weekday evening and it was packed, with lines practically out the door. That being said, their service is reasonably paced and I didn't feel like I waited too long in line. They have huge display cases which are nice to get a preview of what you'd want to order. Very Berry Napoleon: Much lighter than I expected, which was a nice surprise. I loved the combination of the pastry with cream and the berries! It was delicious and I'd order this again. Apple Crumb Cheesecake: The cheesecake was great, very rich. It's a pretty heavy cheesecake. The apple crumb + apple filling at the bottom were a tad too sweet for me, especially since the cheesecake itself already had a bit of sweetness. I'd come back and try some other cakes/pastries off their menu, though I'd probably order for pick-up to avoid the lines.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to come here forever and when in the area I was like let's go! I would've enjoyed it a lot more but I literally started feeling sick the second we pulled up (not their fault or anything) I told my hubs grab me something chocolate and we grabbed things to go. Since I was sick I had to wait like 2 days before I could eat the chocolate I think cheesecake he got me. It was alright. I'd definitely come back here when not sick and try more things! My son of course enjoyed his cupcake. A friend years ago brought a cupcake for him years ago from here and he loved it so I wasn't surprised :P

Yelp
I went to Martha's Bakery first time .i had some family members . We spend over $200 worth of pastries and aweets .I sat down to eat enjoy my pastry and coffee in few minutes a server said ti me the line is getting long and people are waiting so you have to leave. I couldn't believe my ears that he is asking customer to while I am Finishing my cup of Coffee and waiting my rest of family members to finish the purchase Really bad service, I will not recommend any one to go to places that has such a horrible service. I wish we hadn't spent collectively $200. Hard earn money in place like this.

Yelp
Martha is the highlight of Bell Blvd, always bustling with activity. I enjoy their red velvet cake and their lattes.

Yelp
I've been a customer of Martha's for years, the cakes are good the cookies are ok and the cupcakes are NASTY! but those chocolate covered strawberries that they only sell during holidays THOSE ARE THE BEST CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! Martha's is set up like a cafe, it's cute for a quick date but it gets packed so I'm not sure how comfy that is when people are constantly passing your table. Service has always been good, the long line doesn't last long. If you take a look at my photos you will see a man standing in front of the window, as the cashier was helping us she looked uncomfortable so I asked are you ok and then looked at the man she said yes he's not allowed inside but that's a regular thing for him not sure if he's creepy, senile, lonely or what but it's a little disturbing lol.

Yelp
Been going to Martha's since I was younger and no matter how old I get their pastries always hits the spot. I love how you can take out their baked goods easily or have a nice sit down if you want to enjoy some cake with coffee with friends. The service for take out or sit down is always quick and smooth. My favorites here are their 7 layer chocolate cake, rainbow cookies, red velvet, Oreo cheesecake, and their seasonal pumpkin pie!! Street parking is kind of hard but not impossible.
