"Danny Meyer’s pizzeria Martina will shutter at the end of March after an unsteady year and a half in the East Village. The Union Square Hospitality Group restaurant opened in August 2017 as a fast-casual offshoot of its popular, full-service Nomad restaurant Marta. But the restaurant’s reception wasn’t so hot, with Eater critic Ryan Sutton writing that the pizza, especially the margherita, 'needs some work.' The Times’ Pete Wells did award it one star, saying 'they can be very good,' but agreeing that 'the simple margherita is a bore.' Meyer and Anderer made the decision in December to pivot to a full-service restaurant." - Stefanie Tuder

Overrated and disappointing after eating at Marta! The thin crust pizza doesn't make good use of the very good tasting ingredients. The pizza at Marta is typical of a pizza one gets in Napoli. If this place were able to provide the same quality of pizza that they produce at Marta, it would be a better place.

Came at their busiest period (8:15pm), which led to a long wait before any food arrived. The salad while tasty, looked a little disheveled. The pizza came at almost room temperature; this was a slight disappointment but fortunately it did not affect the flavor. Aside that, the almost paper-thin crust was nicely crisp and provided just enough support to hold the toppings. Kudos that gratuity is not required. 4 stars for the benefit of the doubt...

Good pizza place that does a great job of elevating Marta. Edit: I’ve gone back multiple times and this place continues to impress. The service, the food, it is well worth coming back again and again. They keep changing the menu, adding and subtracting things which makes it more interesting every time i come back. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

This place is legit. Though I have not tried the pizza yet the pizzas that came out of the stove looked and smelled delicious. However I did get the Meatball Parmesan hero and it was insanely good. From the crispy bread, to the soft and flavorful meatballs that just fall apart, to the super fresh sauce and crispy cheese the hero was great. Prices are reasonable, staff is great and the restaurant is very open and bright.

I like the neighborhood vibe of the restaurant. It's casual and very relaxed. You feel like you are at a friend's kitchen. The crust is pretty thin but still thick enough to hold the toppings. I like how there are both white and red pizzas available. The chicken meatballs were swimming in just enough tangy tomato sauce. Service is warm and ready to answer questions.

This place has fast service and great pizza. You order at the counter and they bribg the food to you. If you like very thin crust pizza, you will like this place. They do not accept cash. Credit only.

Pizza was good but not amazing. Decent pricing. But for me, its too expesive for the size of the pizza ($12 for a personal size) even though they do have high quality ingredients. The gem of this place would be their soft serve with salt & olive oil as toppings!
