I had eaten at the Martin's downtown, and remember it being pretty good, even though it was a long time ago. When I was in town for some meetings, I had a hankering for brisket and some delicious barbecue, and this place fit the bill.
I got the brisket, and it was delicious. The perfect amount of juicy, tender, fat, and lean. Good bark on the outside. Great smoke flavor and taste. One of the better briskets that I've had outside of Texas. The beans were surprisingly spicy, and had really good flavor. The corn hot cake, I could take it, or leave it. Not really great, not really terrible. I may have missed it at the counter, but it could've used a little bit of butter and I didn't see any.
The location is convenient, fish, with a parking lot, and it's easy to get in and out. The decor was pretty cool and overall the place had a good vibe about it.
My gripe really was the service. While the girl at the counter was friendly, she didn't really seem to care, same went for the folks who brought my food out. They drop it off and ask you if you needed anything else, I just wanted to say "I don't know yet I just got my food." Worse yet, they never checked on you... even though you've already given that tip.
