Inventive cocktails & refined light bites in a stylish carriage house

"Martiny’s appears through Takuma Watanabe on the Japanese‑American panel, signaling that the bar is part of a group of New York spots with their own rigorous Martini traditions and stylistic approach." - Amanda Schuster
"The lauded New York Japanese cocktail bar is collaborating with the Modern’s Bar Room on a one-night pop-up serving special drinks on Wednesday, September 10, from 5 to 9 p.m., available to walk-ins in the bar and lounge spaces." - Nadia Chaudhury
"A triple-floored Lower Manhattan bar that channels Tokyo’s meticulous cocktail culture under founder and beverage director Takuma Watanabe, emphasizing exacting technique and elevated ingredients. Signature creations include the Tea Ceremony—combining coconut water, whisked matcha, and whisky—and the Caprese, an olive-oil-and-basil-dressed Martini made with tomato-infused vodka; the program also champions refined, haute highballs." - Brad Japhe
"This Japanese bar and lounge is from an Angel’s Share alum, and the drinks live up to the pedigree. But we also come here to live out some very specific real estate fantasies. Martiny’s is in a historic, three-level carriage house in Gramercy, and the best place to sip your Bourbon Tea Ceremony is in the lounge on the top floor. Outfitted with antique furniture and rugs, it looks like a professor’s house, if your professor happened to moonlight as a mixologist. For a ittle more action, reserve one of the red leather stools at the bar downstairs—and check out sister bars L’Americana and Midnight Blue." - bryan kim, neha talreja, sonal shah, willa moore, will hartman
"“My favorite cocktail bar is Martiny’s. I love a good mixologist, and this guy literally won best cocktail awards a couple of times. He’s phenomenal—you want to sit at the cocktail bar to watch him work. It’s in an old carriage house. The upstairs is cool, but if you can get seats at the bar it’s such an experience. You don’t even have to like whiskey, and you can fall in love with whiskey and be like, ‘I’ve never had drinks like this in my life.’ They have a Caprese Martini that tastes just like a caprese salad. It sounds weird, but it’s delicious. They also have a Michelin-starred chef making their snack menu. It’s a great date night spot, and if you also want to impress an out-of-towner, that’s where you take them.”" - gabe bergado
