I ALWAYS stop here when I am in the area on business. This is a classic little burger spot. Service is always great. Everyone I've encountered here is friendly and professional. The combo burger is what I prefer. It comes with a split and fried hotdog on top. The chili is excellent and the tater tots come done just right. If you are craving a burger and are anywhere near here, please stop and try them out. Let's all keep this place in business! Lots of seating put back, along with parking by the way!

Every time I am this side of town, this is the go-to place for breakfast and lunch. The hotdogs are off the chain. However, you want it, you got it. I knew Marty, the owner, who was not their but it looks, tastes, and feels like the place is in good hands. Congratulations for being here for many, many years.

First timer. Highly suggest goin' with a double as the burger patty was rather slim and unfilling if you're going with just a burger. It wasn't the tastiest meat in comparison to the competitors nearby. The bun was warmed but didn't catch my fancy, probably won't return for the burger. The chili cheese fries however hit the spot. Very yummy and didn't leave a crumb for the trash bin. They do have a wonderful open seated balcony with plenty of shade Be sure to bring cash as it's cash only!

Coming from the OC was in LA for the day. Felt like a good burger at an old school joint. Found Marty's on line and decided to drive a few miles to try it out. Like another famous hamburger stand which servers burgers out of a shack Marty's did not disappoint. Got the Combo chili/cheese and onion rings. Got the order pretty quick and sat in the back on the benches provided. Street parking was rather open being on a Sunday, but since there is a fire station next door, there was minimal nearby parking spots. The staff was very friendly and appreciated the business which was refreshing. Definitely a place to try out.

Delicious, classic burger stand! Double burger with Pastrami was a meaty monster. The burger was awesome and reminded me of cookouts at my Grandma's, and the onion rings were so crispy!

Marty's is a local hamburger joint on Pico Blvd. I drive by it on my way to work every day but have not made an effort to stop. Had a little extra time today to taste what they offer. The chili cheese burger was ok. The bread needs to be grilled, the patty was small but the cheese and chili were tasty. I ordered 50/50 Fries and Onion rings. The onion rings were tasty, but you get only two. The fries were string fries and lacked any flavor. Total for both was $12.25. I won't be returning, better choices for chili burgers elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a good chili cheese dog on the quickness in the LA area look further. It’s the best chili cheese dog I’ve ever had to grab a fire dog. That’s just ridiculously amazing as well.

Marty’s is a great burger stand. Beef Pattie’s are delicious.Jerry is very friendly. The back outdoor dining is clean and had a cool atmosphere.

Food was amazing got a double cheeseburger with everything and man it had everything I'd want in an old school classic burger and I don't know where to begin from when it comes to the Chile cheese fries, crispy, savory, crunchy. And perfectly seasoned

What I Ordered: -The Combo $9.25 -Chili Cheese Dog $7.25 -Chili Cheese Fries $5.50 I love going to these burger stands, especially when they have been around as long as Marty's. When a place has been in business as long as Marty's, it must do something right to exist today. This is your typical no-frills type of joint. This is the kind of place that I really enjoy. The Combo was pretty good. I would like to order it again but with chili. I'd like to see how that would enhance the flavor for me. The chili cheese fries were pretty good. They were solid! The Chili Cheese Dog was also pretty good. It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't the worst. Their Chili Cheese Dog is much better than the one I had at The Hat, but not as good as Chroni's or Carney's. The guy running the place is very personable and knows many regulars. I like a place that knows its customers and is eager to converse with the patrons. They shoot the breeze with you as if they have known you for a while. I will be back!

Pro-tip: cash only Not half-bad. One of the few true burger stands left in Los Angeles. A relic and a gem of yesterdays past, Marty's is known for their 'combo' burger. Home of the combo, it's essentially a burger and grilled burger fused together to form a more beefy union. The burger is grilled, and the hot dog is known as butterfly style. Marty's chose this route; so the dog doesn't awkwardly protrude out of the bun. Instead, the dog fits nicely on top and sinking your teeth in becomes less of a chore .

I dont know why its called ORIGINAL - there is 0 originality to it - I got a cheeseburger. The patty was barely warm, buns had that nasty flour flavor and were barely toasted. The guy who made a burger didn't wash his hands and didn't use gloves. He just threw one ingredient on top of another and boom its ready. They accept only cash and the parking situation is not the best. The road "ambience" XD. You are sitting basically next to the busy street and absorb all the sounds and road "aroma". I ended up throwing half of my burger into the trash can. Not recommended

I was feeling nostalgic and wanted a piece of Americana that is being stomped out by every Green restaurant. I've driven by this joint a hundred times and never stopped but often wondered? My boys and I were pleasantly surprised by this tiny hot dog & hamburger stand. Fast & friendly service and the combo hotdog & cheeseburger was exactly as it should be! Tasty home styled food from a grill. The orange bang was awesome and reminded me of my youth. The French fries and chili were on point but maybe no more chili because my 60 year old digestive track revolted later needing a lot of Tums, lol. Marty's son does a good job keeping to the age old tradition that was so common place a few decades ago. Now smash is in and old fashioned not so much.... Except it's great and cheaper! Give Marty's a chance if you're hungry and in RANCHO Park area on Pico. Even the customers were talkative and offered friendly banter.

4++ Small no-frills hamburger stand located on the west side that's been here for a very, very, very long time. The guys here have always been super friendly every time I've been here. Has an old-school feel to it, like places you find on the East Coast. In addition to hamburgers, they have some other comfort, food classics like hotdogs and other types of sandwiches etc. I started coming here because it was pretty close to one of the places I worked at in Century City. On my last trip, I got a fire dog, which was delicious. The way they grill up the hotdog and bring out some more of the flavor with all the toppings is great. I also really love their tater tots. Fresh and crispy. i've always been able to find parking close by on the street or around the corner closer to the neighborhood homes.

A solid old-fashioned, no non-sense burger stand. Their burgers and hotdogs, although nothing fancy, always seem to hit the spot with me. They can get quite greasy though so remember to get extra napkins. The staff are nice and quick, and the stand brings back a nice nostalgia of days past. They have seating in the back and also some bar seating in front. There is also a small parking lot behind the stand. Remember to bring cash because this place is cash only!

Got two burgers and two fries and the guy charged me over 30 dollars. Didn't even get drinks. Just sad. Either ripping people off or they've more than doubled their prices. Either way, stay away, not worth it. Your stomach and wallet will not feel so great after eating here.

Hidden small gem! Amazing comfort food and the staff is so personable, hard working, and pleasant. I will definitely come back every time I'm in the area. Combo chili cheese burger was phenomenal with chili cheese fries! Cash only place. Definitely recommend all of their menu. They have orange bang which complimented the food perfectly.

Get the combo. Chili cheeseburger with a hot dog fileted in the middle. Good hangover meal too.

Who knew? A hamburger combo with a burger and a hotdog all in one bun can bring you such joy in your mouth! As you bite into the thin but soft bun, you also get the plump, popping, juicy Vienna sausage and the beef patty at the same time, and all of a sudden there is a party in my mouth. When the person at the counter said they are famous for the combo, although it sounded weird, I had to believe and give it a try. I am glad I did! I got some tater tots, fries, and onion rings with it, and they were crunchy and moist. No wonder this tiny little burger stand has thrived to exist and brought a surprising appetite to people in West Los Angeles since 1959.

The best. Fresh off the grill hot and smoky mouth watering goodness. Clean fresh ingredients nothing to hide here! Super friendly staff. That nostalgic sand lot type spot.

Looking for a quick bite, burger, sandwich, hot dogs, try Marty's stand. I'd give it a above average burger. Fresh toppings, chili is not over topped that you can't eat, chili tastes pretty good, burger pattie is alright. They only outdoor seating.

Took a bite of the burger before taking a photo. Good flavor nice char in the burgers chopped onion lettuce tomatoes mayo og classic burger for a great price of 6.75z Fries were decently crisped they had some nice seasoning salt. Friendly service the only gripe I have is the accepting cash with bare hands then touching the food right after. Thats a little bit of an ick for me.

Burger 100% lives up to the hype - got the double works and it was absolutely delicious and a great value for the price. Chili cheese dog was good not great but the fries were a definite NO-go for me: thin, dry, waxy and tasteless. Threw them out completely. If this place reworked their fry game Martys would be a no-brainer.

*Family & Friends Tradition* Wow where do I begin... Been coming here most my life. The tradition started after Little League games on Saturdays, right down the street from Rancho Park/Cheviot Hills. As a kid I thought it was so cool the Fire Station is right nextdoor...and often wondered if all those friendly & courageous Fireman ate at Marty's everyday. Because I certainly would ;-) During my teenage years nothing really changed other than when I turned 16 and could drive here myself or with friends. And even better when my older brother started driving first, because he loved Marty's just as much as me...and all these years he never ordered anything other than a Double Chili Cheese with Grilled Onions, without Mayo (speaking of which, Marty's had grilled onions long before In & Out) I loved Marty's so much as a kid sometimes I'd take the bus lol and lots of times if my Little League games were early in the morning, I'd hang out at the park, watch my friends games after mine, then go to Marty's together. For me, it was always a single chili burger with grilled onions...and a chili dog with grilled onions (sometimes just a plain dog with mustard) I knew about their famous "Home of the Combo" but back then, the thought of a hamburger & hot dog together on the same burger bun didn't appeal to me...yet all my friends and my bro's friends were hooked & addicted. But as I grew older (and didn't want to fill up on eating 2 buns) I tired "The Combo" and was hooked because the way Marty's cooks their fresh to order burgers & dogs, really works and it's perfection on a bun. In my adult life, I love & prefer a good burger, and rarely eat hot dogs. But Marty's does it right. Actually, it's perfection because their Footlong Hot Dogs are like none other...and they're specially made from Manning's Beef...and I've never seen or known these dogs to be sold anywhere else. The best part for me about Marty's is their burgers & dogs are cooked & charbroiled perfectly on a squeaky clean grill. The burgers are on the small & thin side so order a double. I've always liked their chili...and their fries & onion rings are good too (and so is their tuna fish) Marty's is an old school burger stand. All their prices are very reasonable ~ especially for the quality...and no matter how busy they are or difficulty finding a parking space, it's well worth the wait and effort. My favorite Marty's story: When I was in High School, I got a bunch of my buddies & baseball teammates hooked on Marty's...and since my school allowed us to go off-campus for lunch, we went to Marty's a lot. And sometimes ditched class to avoid the lunch crowds as the long lines would wrap around the block. One day I didn't feel like eating a burger or dog before lunch time and ordered an egg sandwich...and OMG it was so good...and became a new AM pre PM thing for me and two BF's. Well...one morning during my 3rd period ceramics class, my teacher overheard me bragging to my classmates who where unfamiliar with Marty's. The teacher overhead me and she says "I love Marty's too and go there all the time." After class she pulled me aside and said "I can't stop thinking about Marty's...so if you want to go tomorrow during class I'll excuse you if you bring something back for me" (seriously ~ my life is like a movie) so of course I said "SURE...what do want?" And she says "tell Howard you're one of my students and order me Ellen's burger." (Howard was/is the awesome original owner and used to be there everyday flipping burgers & dogs while chit-chatting with all the regulars) This leads me to my last favorite thing: most of Marty's customers are "regulars" and been coming here most their lives...and also pass down their tradition to family & friends too...and the more you go the more they get to know ya...and not only remember your name, but also your orders and special requests. The most American burger stand: sandwiched between a fire station and a gas station. Doesn't get more American than that. I will always come back to Marty's. One of LA's best. I have never been disappointed and believe truly that I will never be. A wonderful burger. Love the good vibe delivered by G, always smiling, always making some of LA's finest. A true institution. WARNING CASH ONLY! However this place has some good ole fashioned burgers and hot dogs. This burger stand has been here for years and I see why. I have been here a few times now and whether I order one of their burgers or hot dogs I'm always pretty satisfied. WARNING The guy who usually manages the burger stand can be and will be very pushy. He's probably been here just as long as the burger stand itself well over 20 years. From cooking burger and hot dogs all day I guess he's become a bit of a "salty dog" himself. Honestly it kind of adds to the charm of this place. I usually order the double cheese burger. It's a solid choice and not a bad price. I will sometimes get a hot dog. The fire do which is a hot link with mustard and onion usually hits the spot. As a pro trip I would say don't sleep on the chili cheese fries here or on the chili in general. Slap some on a burger or a dog and you're good to go. This so definitely a solid burger and hot dog stand if your looking for much more than that probably not going to be the place for you. If you're looking for burgers, dogs and fries made to order this is the spot. A great west LA staple l.

I had a cheeseburger with bacon and a side of fries and omg it was delicious. We came here starving and the food was heavenly. This is a cash only place but that's okay because the gas station right next door has an atm. The cooks are also the ones taking your order and they are very friendly and repeat back to you your order. They have some picnic tables in the back with umbrellas. A wonderful place to eat at when it's sunny. I highly recommend it if you are in the mood for a nice hot burger.

I love this place. Just be aware that the hours that is shown here on yelp may be incorrect. I drove across town on Friday to get there before 7pm just to find out they closed at 5pm. I left hungry and frustrated. I think that Marty's may not be at fault here. Yelp needs to update information.

Got here on a Saturday at 10:45a. They're supposed to be open at 9:00a. Played this place up to a co-worker, only to be disappointed on arrival. Are they out of business? 3 stars because I know the food is/was great, but why weren't they open at the posted time?

Awesome little spot serving some delicious dogs, burgers sandwiches. I ordered their signature 'combo' which was a burger and hotdog on the same bun. Absolutely delicious! Also got a chili cheese dog which was absolutely on point. Loved it.

What an amazing place the burger is super fresh and the fire dog can't. Be topped. Service with a Smile and. Can't go wrong with the tater tots . Thank you guys for a good meal . Also place is clean and well maintained good ambiance.

I've been going to Marty's for over 50 years and it's just been a big part of my life, dating back to when Marty and his wife were running it. It's almost like Saturday Night Live but better! It's totally different and original. They have the BEST chili and you really can't go wrong with the dogs or combo burgers. The orange bang is a must! Howard Marty's son has been running the show exactly like his dad true to its roots. I feel like family when I'm there. It's a must if you love amazing old school real deal meals.

The service was fast, even though there was a pretty big crowd. The burgers were excellent, as were the perfectly cooked fries, with just the right amount of crunchiness. The tables in back were clean, and where else can you eat right next door to an LAFD station? I'LL BE BACK!!!

I can't rate this place high enough!!!! I've loved this place since the 70's. Every time I visit California I make sure I eat here at least once during my visit. It's a simple little place but the people are friendly and the hamburgers etc are freshly made! It's not what I would necessarily call a romantic place -- but it's a delicious place. :-) (meaning I wouldn't come here for the ambience) (It's not letting me uncheck the "Ambience")

The food is DELICIOUS, no doubt. I loved the chili cheese fries and my double cheeseburger with bacon. 5/5 I was a little confused on how to order the cook just told me to tell him what I want and it was confusing because I wanted some burgers plain and some with added things. They didn't read back my order and I didn't notice until I sat down that they gave me an extra double cheeseburger and charged me for it. I only wanted 4 burgers. Besides that I really did like the food and parking was easy to find out front but they also have a parking lot and seats in the back. *Cash only*

I love Martys I've been going here for years you can't beat it. I get a double turkey burger, and fries. Service is friendly and quick. The ambience is utilitarian and clean. You can stand and eat at the counter or have a seat in the back.

Finally got a chance to come to this place it is amazing the hotdog has that snap to it just like I like the burger and the chili has a unique flavor it's very good I highly recommend it.

No flavor on burger or fries and I ordered two different types of burgers so it was uniform that the flavor was lacking

We found this on a list of "best hood burgers in L.A." and were excited to try it. I don't get it. We got cheeseburgers and the patty shrinks up so it only covers like 80% of the bun and the bun did not feel especially fresh. I don't understand what the big deal is. Maybe it's just the novelty of their "combo" which is a hot dog on top of the burger, and I hear it's good as a "chili cheese combo hot dog burger." But you shouldn't have to just get a place's one specialty for it to be good.

My review is solely based on my breakfast burrito... and yes, they do offer a breakfast sandwich and burrito. My fiance enjoyed his sandwich but my breakfast burrito was just ok. The thing that bothered me was the amount of shredded cheese and potatoes in the burrito. The potato chunks were huge, the smallest was the size of dice & there was a lot of it - so basically lot of fluff to make it look bigger. I'd definitely like to go back to try their burgers, hot dogs and chili cheese fries and I'll update my review at that time.

I love me some casual 'comforty burger'. Burgers are reasonably priced (just a tad bit more than In-n-out, one of my favorites fast food burger chain, but with better fries!!!). I am pretty classic with my burgers but they do have different styles such as chilli burgers/fries, including hotdogs, etc. I love 'em crispy fries which are nicely portioned too. Parking can be tricky, not too many around the stand, but I always go outside of busy hours to avoid the congestion. Staffs are friendly too!! No pics 'cos I was too hungry!!

Been coming here since 1998. Still tastes the same. They have the best fire dogs. Hamburgers and fries are also good but when I'm in the area I'm coming to get two fire dogs with onions and mustard and I'm satisfied.

food was pretty dammm good , the cooks were cool and very polite it's cash only so keep that in mind and there's seating and parking right behind it which you cannot see from the front

Martys is delicious! I drove by this morning and had no idea they were open this early. Apperantly they also make breakfast, and let me tell you!!! their breakfast options are super yummy. I had a breakfast bacon burito and my friend opted in for a plain ham sandwich. Everything is so fresh and tasty. I've had their lunch burgers and hot dogs before, but was super impressed with their breakfast. Everything is top notch and their customer service is great. There's are alway two gentlemen working, they are super friendly and welcoming. You can tell that they have really become a part of the community. Every time I stop by, at least 2- 3 people walking by, even they aren't customers at the moment waive a quick hello. If you are visiting the west side, Martys is def. a staple to visit.

Some places just feel right. Facing busy Pico, you might not even notice Marty's wedged between a Fire Station and a gas station... unless it's lunch time and you notice the line of folks waiting for their order, which is funny, because these guys are quick. Don't overthink this -- burgers, fries, hot dogs, chili on any and all of it if you want. I love the onion rings. The Vienna dogs are high quality. Jerry is a good guy. Him and Ruben will chat you up if you give them the chance. Quality people making good SoCal burger stand chow. What more do you want?

Absolutely amazing burger and I love trying the combo. Oh my gosh it was so delicious don't sleep on it and whatever you do never sleep on the Horchata, because that is so good!!!! I would have taken photos but I ate it too quick. Great vibes, great service, great food.
