Minimalist coffee shop serving acclaimed matcha & espresso drinks
"An Arts District café that has removed the 'cream top' add-on from its coffee menu as part of a broader resistance to overly sweet, creamy floats in order to preserve barista-crafted coffee drinks." - Matthew Kang
"Maru Coffee’s Arts District location has excellent matcha and pour-over coffees, but know you’re walking into a scene. The people-watching here is elite: influencers and people who want to be influencers come dressed in cashmere and whatever clothing brand is sponsoring this morning’s latte. And you can take all of it in from a spacious communal table that’s great for in-person meetings. Wifi and free street parking are available if you want to spend the workday here, but skip the pastries and check out our neighborhood guide for lunch options in the area." - brant cox, sylvio martins, cathy park
"Maru's Arts District location is the preferred neighborhood caffeine station for DJs, music producers, and overworked stylists. This minimalist cafe isn't particularly chatty or lively, but it is aesthetically pleasing, just like its clientele’s monochromatic outfits. Beige Kith sweaters act as camouflage in this muted space, but the crowd definitely wants you to notice their style choices. They’re probably scanning your outfit, too, except you can never tell because everyone has their sunglasses on. The matcha is very good" - sylvio martins
"The family-operated, LA-based coffee shop announced it will be donating 30 percent of its in-person sales from Thursday, January 16 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and World Central Kitchen’s SoCal Relief Team, and 100 percent of its online coffee sales from Sunday, January 19 to those organizations as well." - Francky Knapp
