Marufuji Japanese Grocery is such a hidden gem! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I stepped into a small market in Japan. The store is clean, organized, and fully stocked with authentic Japanese snacks, rice, drinks, and specialty items. The food court area is amazing. I ordered katsu curry and it was so crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The udon with tempura was comforting and flavorful, and the karaage was fresh and crunchy. Everything tasted authentic and freshly made. Even the miso soup was warm and comforting. Don’t skip the drinks! The iced matcha latte and iced coffee were so good and refreshing. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese groceries and delicious hot meals in one place, this is definitely worth visiting. I will be back again! 🇯🇵✨

Saw an add for this so it made for a weekend adventure to check it out. So many things to look and so many decisions on what to throw in the cart to try. There is a food court in the back, a sample station in the middle and a home goods section along with all the grocery options. It’s an overload to the senses! Some things are hard to know what they are if you only read English. But the staff was super helpful! My favorite item I bought was Accuo grapefruit flavored gum. I wish I’d gotten more than one pack. Our first trip here was not long after they opened. We just stopped back in again to pick up more gum but they didn’t have it this time. Instead I opted for mimosa flavored gum which unfortunately we both found disgusting! But did grab a pack of lemon flavored and it was almost as good as the grapefruit. I like it as a palette cleanser after eating.

I already knew about the overpriced products, but I decided to try the food court. It took around 50 minutes for just a curry and katsudon to come out and when it came out, the order was completely wrong. So we brought it back and he came with with just a curry and took away everything else because "curry doesn't come with salad." not even a little bit apologetic. Fine. The food wasn't very good. The curry tastes fine but there's barely anything inside, katsudon is super bland. Plus 2 minutes into eating they statt cleaning up and putting chairs up when some people haven't even gotten their food yet, we're late eating because of YOU and you have the audacity to start spraying things everywhere and putting chairs up next to us? There's not even an inkling of customer service here, especially that Asian guy with the curly hair. The entire staff needs a retraining and a lesson on how to make food faster, no reason it should take 50 minutes. Don't go here.

Marufuji Japanese Market is honestly my favorite spot around Tysons. They don’t have as much fresh produce as some other Asian grocery stores, but they carry so many Japanese imports you can’t easily find anywhere else. The sashimi grade fish is super fresh and perfect if you want to make sushi at home, and they even sell A5 Wagyu, which is amazing. They also have ready to eat foods and a small food court inside. In today’s economy, it’s actually rare to eat out and not have to tip, so that’s a nice bonus. Keep in mind the supermarket is in the heart of the city, so everything is already a bit pricey. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, always happy to help and give recommendations. Prices are what they are some people might think it’s expensive, but for me it’s worth it. To get the same stuff cheaper, I’d have to drive much farther anyway. I’d say just keep an open mind and check it out yourself. If you like it, you’ll be back. If not, maybe it’s just a one time stop. I live nearby, so I come almost every week. The food court prices are similar to eating at a restaurant, but you don’t have to tip, which makes it feel a bit like eating in Japan. I’ll definitely be back.

This place has everything you could possibly need to make any Japanese meal you can imagine… assuming you can read Japanese (I cannot 😂). Luckily, between the pictures, vibes, and a few brave guesses based on shelf keywords, I successfully assembled all the ingredients for hotpot without accidentally buying candy or pet food. Prices were very fair, the selection of fresh vegetables and meats was excellent, and the bakery smelled incredible—even though I had absolutely no clue what any of it was. I wanted to buy one of everything just on smell alone. Bonus points for carrying real A5 Wagyu steaks and Kurobuta pork. That alone guarantees I’ll be back. Next visit I’ll bring Google Translate and a little more confidence. Highly recommend if you like great food, adventure, and mild grocery store chaos.

Pretty good Japanese market. I used to live in the Bay Area and grew up in San Francisco with Japantown. We get a lot of Onigiri and for vegetarians, kelp is my favorite. I also get kimchi, plum and plain. Surprisingly sparse on the premade sushi. Haven't tried the dining options but took some pictures because existing pics were all blurry.

I went once it calmed down (everyone wanted to go LOL) and it was such a great experience. I've been visiting it semi-frequenty since, and the food has always been fantastic. I highly recommend planning to grocery shop AFTER you eat a nice lunch or dinner, the kaarage is a favorite of mine. I love the regional specials and holiday goods they have and there is a great variety of authentic Japanese goods to try or if you miss Japan.

Wish I lived closer so I could come all the time 🥲 With stores like HMart, their products are split between Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Mexican goods - this place is completely focused on Japanese products, so there’s wayyyyy more diversity in what they carry. Aisles are a little tight cause of how wide the shelving units are, but carts are small so it’s not too bad. Their prepped food is standard, not amazing, but still good! Onigiri for $4 each. I think it could use a little more filling, since too much rice makes it taste bland.

This is a fun alternative to Super H if you're seeking Japanese-specific ingredients. They have to go food like sushi, masubi, curry chicken, etc. they've got an extensive selection of soy sauce, wasabi, and every Pocky imaginable. They also have tea samples and food samples on the weekend. It's a very fun place to visit. The service is friendly and despite the size of the store, it feels cozy.

We don't come to Tysons often, but we were in the area this weekend and decided to stop by Marufuji. First thing we did was head straight to the dining area and ordered katsu curry, curry udon, hand roll sampler, and mango matcha. Things we liked: Hand roll sampler: Specifically the shrimp tempura hand roll, which was amazingly crispy yet lightly breaded. The sampler came with a salmon and tuna hand roll as well and for 10.99 for 3 it was a pretty good deal. Mango matcha: I liked that they make the drink in front of you when your number is called. The matcha was strong and the mango syrup wasn't overly sweet. Things we didn't like as much: Curry udon: The soup was a little light and thin so it was really more like a beef stew. The beef was also slightly overdone as well as the egg which was basically a ball of egg yolk. Katsu curry: The pork definitely could have used more seasoning. I did like that there were pieces of beef in the curry so the curry had some beefy flavor to it. We had somewhere to go afterwards so we didn't spend as much time wandering around the market as we wanted, but from what we saw things were pretty expensive (ramen pack for $5?). We did leave with some onigiri (eel, spicy karaage, and spicy tuna), chutoro, poke bowl, and a Sakura mochi. Definitely would go back for the chutoro which we used to make our own nigiris at home (for $20 it was amazing!!). The onigiris were just okay as there wasn't much filling in them. Overall would give the market a 3.5, worth checking out if you're in the area!

I always stop by Marufuji whenever I crave or run out of certain snacks that are not carried in other Asian supermarkets. - Strawberry Matcha Latte -- from the Yamamotoyama pop up; good balance not too strong and not too sweet - Seasonal Strawberry Matcha -- from the cafe; tasted good and blended well together I hope they will have more pop up events and bring back their seasonal drinks although it can be pricey compared to other places. The service has always been great and their staff are friendly and helpful.

I loved here! I went through every aisle and tried so many things. I felt that the staff was very kind and helpful, and all the prices were a great value, especially the hot food and the premade sushi bar. The Gyudon was good and a very large portion.

This a a great Japanese market with a wide selection of cuisine and fresh foods! They also have a few options in the food court and stalls throughout the store. There's a section with home goods as well like toiletries, bowls, decor etc. only downside is that it was super crowded, to the point where it was hard to browse as so many people were in each aisle. Other than that it's a nice place to stop in!

Service was quick and food/drink were delicious. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

This new Japanese grocery store is a neat addition to the area. A friend recommended that I try the sushi since it's apparently flown in from one of the most famous fish markets in Japan. Both of the desserts I've ordered have come out looking super cute! The service is friendly and attentive. For a casual deli the food is decent too. I'll surely be stopping by more often if I'm a bit short on time and don't want a full sit down restaurant experience. I haven't gotten a chance to browse many other areas of the store but at a quick glance it seems clean and well organized! Lastly, it's nice that parking isn't a struggle since they have a huge parking lot.

Been hearing about this spot and finally got a chance to check it out. It's a really cool Japanese grocery store. You'll find so many things you'll want to try. I got a bunch of snacks and drinks! They also have a small food court and the food was really good! I love Japanese curry and this was one perfect! Great portion size, great flavors, all good!!

A Japanese grocery store that supports its culture and has fun little events and pop ups! I will definitely be back to support! They also have affordable culinary and ceremonial matcha for baking and drinking. $12 for 60g is pretty solid even if it isn't that typical high quality people are looking for. While they're produce is small and all your normal groceries are little more pricy than a typical grocery store - this is made up for by all the variety of prepared foods, sushi grade fish and Japanese products you can't find in your normal Asian grocery store

Amazing selection of sashimi. We typically go to the DC wharf market for seafood, but this place differentiates itself for its wide selection of sashimi at reasonable prices. Service is very friendly. It was our first time at the store and we couldn't find sticky rice or ginger. A staff member kindly helped us out. This place is noisy and jam packed on the weekends. You can wait 30 minutes to check out. Parking lot gets busy too!

Update on the cafe: it has become a routine for me to have a meal here. The food quality is exactly what you could expect from Japan. The staff works fast and is kind. You're given a number after you order. You'll then pick up your food with that number afterwards. The seats and wooden decor feel as if you're suddenly in Japan, except the crowd around you reminds you otherwise. The beef gyudons or rice bowls taste great. I love the taste combination. The beef is too sweet for my liking. However, that's how Japanese food tastes, so I get that. The curry udon's taste was so masterful, and I don't usually order udon! Most curries are thick and heavy for me, so much so that I cannot continue to eat after a few bites. The curries here are light and soupy. The udon noodles also taste just right. I usually don't have them because they are too thick and chewy. Marufuji cafe made me realize all the udon I had before was crap. I'm getting hungry as I write about their hand rolls. The avocado salmon rolls are stellar. The tuna tastes amazing as well. I was told by local matcha connoisseurs that Marufuji's matcha isn't the best in the DMV, but it tastes pretty great to me. They usually have seasonal flavors going. I tried both the strawberry and mango versions. I loved them! The only downside to this cafe for me, just like the whole store itself, is the price. It's expensive. After I order everything I wanted, like curry udon, 3 hand rolls, matcha, and a dessert, it's an easy $40. Ouch! I'm happy with what I'm getting, though. I'll gladly pay it, maybe not as often as I'd like.

First ever Japanese market in the area! They were extremely hyped during the first month of grand opening but after a while, everything is just clearly way overpriced. If you were to compare to a place like Mitsuwa in NJ, I'd say very similar, however, the prices here for many items are ridiculous! You can find same exact items in Chinese or Korean markets for a fraction of the price. Don't understand why they must overcharge here. Aside from that, they have a little food spot in the back that sells drinks and food. I really like their Katsu and matcha. Very strong in flavors. Their hand rolls are overpriced so if you'd like to, grab some of their market ready to eat items, pay and go have a seat in the eating area. The seatings are very limited but very nice corner to whine down for a bit before the chaotic shopping. Some side notes. They would price some things on sale BUT charge you full price! I've had this happen to me on multiple occasions and don't realize it until I get home. Be aware and look closely when they are scanning. Seems like a huge system issue and when contacting them through email, they just ignore you.

Love this market. Aisles are a bit tight,and stuff can be expensive, but glad something like this is in the area. Parking can be difficult during peak times, and store can be packed... But checkout line is always quick. Also the fresh food is pretty good, and it's quick for them to prepare. I'm pretty picky on sushi and this is a very affordable option for fresh raw fish. My mom loves the udon.

We were struggling to find sushi/sashimi grade fish in Arlington and this was a perfect shop for it!! Salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and fresh uni. Lots of Japanese snacks and seasonings. There is also a cafe inside.

Marufuji is great when looking for specialized Japanese ingredients. They have so much to offer and it was fun to explore. I had planned on eating there but with only a partial pass from the health department and a critical violation for not meeting the standards of parasite destruction and hot holding, it's not for me. What do you mean there is also a citation for not meeting the standard of bodily biohazard cleanup. Absolutely not. That is horrifying. The housewares section is great but the beauty section is mass market/drugstore level. Wish they had Japanese spirits. I'd skip and go somewhere clean.

This place was ok...had heard all the hype so my expectations were high...the cafe was cozy and has a limited selection of food...we ordered some tempura and matcha...it was fair the market seems to have a nice array of options straight from Japan...all seem pretty authentic and fairly priced

I have been wanting to try the onigiri from Marufuji. I heard it was good and I went to the back to find it. I picked up a warm chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura onigiri. It was delicious and I wish I had ordered more! Looked around and picked up some Japanese snacks. The line was long but it moved quickly. Bring your own bags. Definitely try the food hall/restaurant in the back. I also got the seasonal summer matcha with mango which was really good and not too sweet!

I've been seeing this market all over TikTok for their strawberry matcha and amazing food, so I had to check it out since I was already going to be in the area. I'm so glad we stopped by--it did not disappoint! The service was A+ and the food was definitely a hit. I tried the mango matcha and gave it a 5/5! The mango flavor gave me boba drink vibes, and I loved every sip. We also grabbed a few grocery items while we were there: matcha latte powder, a pear drink (so good!), miso ramen, a cute teapot, and a matcha whisk. I'm so excited about everything we picked up! What I also loved is that they have a seating area where you can enjoy your food and drinks right inside the store. I'm definitely coming back--especially since I'm often in the area!

Cutest little Japanese market! Visited on a Sunday and it was popping. I was surprised by the large variety of foods they carry. So many yummy snacks, candies, noodles, sauces, fresh produce and even a cafe with hot food. The line for the food was pretty long so we opted for the onigiris instead, which had no line. The spicy chicken ones were delicious!! My girls were obsessed with all the Sanrio toys and accessories. We each picked a snack to try, can't wait to get home and taste them all. Fun outing for sure!

I've been to this Japanese market many times since it opened. It also helps that every so often I need to be in the office and this market is nearby. It's my first time at the restaurant. During the weekday at lunch it gets very crowded but on this day I was starving after leaving Dulles and it's easy to jump on Route 7 from the tollway towards 495. Anyway, back to the restaurant review! The chicken katsu curry hit the spot. I've always enjoy Japanese curry and how it's like eating a stew even better because you get the crunch from the katsu. The portions is great and chicken was not dry. The chirashi was delicious according to my husband. We also had the seasonal iced matcha latte with mango puree and that was good too. You may want to eat before shopping or you'll drop quite a bit of money on yummy Japanese snacks, but if you don't have time to eat, grab an onigiri or two. Those are always my fave.

I'm glad to find a Japanese grocery store in Vienna! Avoid going here around rush hour...traffic is aweful, but they got plenty of parking space. Prices are definitely higher than H mart and 99 ranch but very clean and well organized. Usually I order most stuff on Weee!, but Marufuji carries the stuff other stores do not. I have never tried the food court or the sushi place but next time I will!

Overall, Marufuji Market is a great stop whether you're craving a light meal, a specialty drink, or just want to browse unique Japanese imports. Tip: The crowd has been fluctuating with the opening. There are folks constantly going in and out so just be patient with parking! Sunday afternoon was a pleasant time to visit!

I had high expectations from New Jersey location. It's not as big but it's a good small Japanese market. If you want good quality sushi grade fish this is the place to get them. The food court area tends to get crowded and busy. I don't recommend getting the packaged onigiri. It's full of rice and not enough filling. The ones in the back counter are a bit better just wished it was more flavorful. Overall it will be my go to for some sashimi to bring home to make homemade sushi.

This is your one stop shop for all things Japanese! They not only have packaged goods, they also have a counter where you can get fresh items and even stationary + kitchenware. If you're a fan of meats and/or sushi, they have the most amazing selection for you! Just be warned that the prices aren't cheap but still worth it compared to if you were getting this out somewhere! We went around 7 pm and it was pretty crowded but rightfully so and they also have a cafe towards the back of the store. The prices are reasonable and the staff are super friendly !

Checked out the Maraduji Japanese market. I really wanted to check out the food served in the back of the store. There's a fairly decent size seating area. They offer sushi as well as a few drink options. I went with the three hand rolls and they were the best hand rolls I have ever had. The freshness was top level. I ordered their strawberry matcha which was also tasty. If I am in the area I will stop by.

Have been here a few more times now and wanted to update the review! Grocery: definitely very overpriced. Can find the same or similar items online or at other Asian grocery stories for a fraction of the price! Food court: also overpriced and either a hit or a miss. Had all three of their udons, multiple rice bowls, rolls, fried chicken, gyoza, curry, and would probably only recommend the curry. The portion sizes are pretty small and the ingredients are not always fresh. Overall, there's definitely a novelty to this supermarket, with so many Japanese goods all in one place, but you can find many of these items for better quality and prices elsewhere!

From the spotless, well organized aisles to the curated range of niche Japanese products, its more than your average Asian grocery store. They carry everything from various cuts of A5 Wagyu beef to unique kitchen gadgets you'd normally have to hunt for in Japan. Prices are definitely on the higher end, but this isn't a place for bulk shopping as it's a specialty destination for foodies or anyone looking to find authentic Japanese ingredients and goods. On our visit, we picked up a few tasty onigiris (pork ramen and spicy karrage) and a crunchy rice furikake seasoning I've never seen before. Many items on the shelves brought us right back to our trip to Japan last year, so the authenticity is there. If you're into Japanese cuisine, culture, or just want to explore beyond your usual Hmart or Lotte run, Marufuji is absolutely worth checking out.

Maybe it's on me, but I was expecting this to be more of a grocery store. It doesn't have much produce, mostly packaged and prepared foods. I stopped by the cafe for lunch in the middle of the week and it was surprisingly busy (most of the seats were filled), but nothing too bad. I ordered the strawberry matcha and it was a bit disappointing. The flavor is nice, not too sweet and the strawberry syrup is strong. The matcha, however, left a powdery aftertaste/feeling in my mouth. I also got the regular handroll set (spicy tuna, ebi fry (shrimp tempura), and salmon avocado), which was great! It's a good deal ($11), the fish is fresh, and it's perfect for a light lunch. I also like the plastic that protects the seaweed from getting soggy so you don't have to rush eating.

I loved the matcha pop up, I hope they do more of these special events. I also really loved the fresh prepared food. I had salmon and tuna nigiri and beef and chicken onigiri. I would definitely come back to grab lunch.

Marufuji has a small food court/cafe in the back of the grocery store that can get crowded. I highly recommend the chirashi and sushi there as you can imagine the sushi grade ingredients really fresh. PRO TIP: Check out in front of the grocery store as it's separate from for drinks and pastries that you order. Tried the cream puff from the cafe which wasn't too sweet and really light and fluffy; paired with hojicha (tea) latte, light, delicate and not too sweet. Service especially the demo lady really good as she explained the samples given out and knew where to find some items in the store. Prices compared to other Asian grocery stores tend to be considerably higher even for the same items. However, you can get Japanese specialities not found elsewhere and a good place to get Japanese sauces, dressings and other kitchen staples. Also, their produce apparently comes from Suzuki farm in Delaware.

I wanted to beat the normal long line and crowds so I came here on a Monday morning at 11am. Thank goodness there were only a handful of people in the cafeteria. I got the iced strawberry matcha latte ($8) and 3 hand rolls: the salmon avocado ($4), the salmon roe ($8) and the fatty tuna ($8) The quality was fresh but I'm not gonna lie the prices were outrageous. I spent $30 and I was still hungry afterwards. They have heavier options but they're just as expensive. I will come back but probably just for the matcha.

Everything here tastes fresh, and I love how accessible it is. The café is money -- from the lattes and matcha to the desserts. And I'm not even a dessert person, but theirs strike the perfect balance -- flavorful without being too sweet.

Super cute Japanese market. It's like a pocket-size version of the Costco-level Japanese markets in Seattle and NJ. I came here midday during the week for lunch. I hear it's crazy on the weekends, so shoppers beware. The ready-made food was super fresh and the sushi picks looked great and had a wide variety! My friend and I ordered Gyudon Japanese beef bowl over rice. It's thinly sliced meat in a savory-sweet sauce. The meat was tender, but a little stringy. We also got a couple salmon avocado rolls to share. Yummy! Got my stamp of approval! For the pre-made rolls, you have to go back to the front of the store and make your purchase at the cashier (and not at the food counter). That part was a bit tedious to go back and forth around the store. I want to come back to purchase their fresh yellow tail, wagyu cuts and chirashi bowls. The market still seems new, so they're continuing to stock their wares. In the front of the store, they have a couple aisles for small home goods and Japanese beauty. Sunscreen galore! They are pricier than what you can get online - but it's the convenience you pay for. This place also has lovely food gifts like fine chocolates and adorably-packaged cookies. They also have some textiles and a handful of shelves for ceramics. I long for the humongous Japanese markets from the other coast - but this will do for now!!

This grocery store had a nice selection of Japanese food, snacks, beauty products, and dishware. However, most items are quite pricey for what you're getting, no doubt a result of being imported from halfway across the world. It's a fun spot to look around, though, and I would recommend if you're looking for more novel Asian snacks. They also have a small cafe in the back serving sushi, katsu, lattes, desserts, etc, that seems to be fairly busy.

For all Japanese food lovers out there, this is the place to go for the best Japanese groceries from wagyu beef from Japan to sashimi grade salmon, tuna, and mackerel and culinary grade matcha to the latest fashion using Kenyan fabrics in a hapi coat to the latest skin care products from Tokyo. Food court with sushi, Japanese cakes, shaved ice, dango and mochi. This is the real deal.

I came here this past weekend and it was super packed with tons of people but it seemed to be well managed. I started looking around and decided to order food because there was a long line. I ordered two Tonkatsu curry and was told it would take 40 minutes. Usually I'd say no, but I have just cracked the surface of things that they had at this store. I ordered and continued to browse each of the aisles. I do wish I had come on a weekday since the aisles were packed with people but less stock on the shelves. They have a huge selection of Japanese grocery and goods. A lot of brands I've only ever seen in Japan before were sold at this store. One hidden gem you have to try is any Japanese hair product! I wish I had space for more hair products in my luggage when traveling but I ended up finding the products I wanted here. Just as I wrapped up shopping, the food was ready. *note you can't dine in unless you pay for your groceries first* I felt like I was transported back to Japan with the katsu curry. That was my favorite meal and I was always looking for something similar in the States. It's still not as flavorful as the ones I've had but it was very fresh and delicious.

Woot woot! Another shoutout for Marufuji! We recently stopped by for a quick lunch, and I tried their new Ebi Furai Curry Udon--sooo good! The udon was thick, yet soft and airy, and the curry had just the right consistency--not too heavy. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for something different from the usual ramen or classic udon dishes.

I enjoy coming here for fun Japanese groceries, food, and even home goods and beauty/health products. I would say the non-food items are more pricey than online or even at Teso Life, but could be worth for convenience. Some of the groceries you can find at a different Asian grocery store for cheaper too. I've enjoyed their matcha, baked goods, and even sushi/sashimi! I def want to go back to try onigiri and fruit sandos. The restaurant in the back was not too bad, but not my favorite. I tried their katsu curry and gyudon (beef bowl) when it first opened, and wasn't too impressed. I would give it another chance now that they're more settled down and established.

Coming from SoCal with its plethora of Japanese supermarkets and authentic restaurants, I was thrilled that a full-sized Japanese market was to be set up locally here in NoVa! Opening day was way more crowded than I expected but eventually made it in and got my free tote. We took our time browsing and even got some food at their cafe, which was delicious...and that ended up being our biggest mistake because the checkout line grew exponentially to the point that we had to put all our groceries back in their respective shelves and leave because we were afraid the refrigerated/frozen items would go bad. Now it's a lot more bearable, and it looks like they're even adding more checkout counters so they're definitely working to improve. Hopefully they'll also be able to keep up with the high demand, because their shelves were pretty much emptied out after a couple of days.

Went on a Wednesday at 9am (at opening) and it was nice and chill.. Idk if i could brave here on a weekend quite yet. Seems like a lot of things have been sold out, but that's granted they just had their grand opening this past weekend. Hope to see the shelves better stocked when I come back next time! They have quite a variety of grocery/food items, beauty, and lifestyle items. It was fun to browse! We sat at the cafe and had a matcha latte & hojicha latte. They're $6 each (25c more for milk subs) but the quality is definitely very high tier- the flavor was so rich! The seating area is very spacious, and very aesthetic. Headsup that the cafe opens at 9am, but the kitchen (for food) does not open til 10am!

My boyfriend and I have visited Marufuji twice now--once when it first opened and again after the initial hype had settled. I was hesitant to write a review the first time because many items were out of stock, and we didn't get to try much of the menu. Thankfully, on our second visit, the experience was exactly what we had hoped for. When we walked in, we noticed a stand in the middle selling Wagyu burgers for $20, which piqued our interest (I wish I could've tried one, but I didn't, though the burger patties looked huge). This time around, the store was fully stocked with everything you'd expect. The meats looked fresh, and the vegetables were vibrant and green. There are a few other stands in the back offering snacks like onigiri, skewers, and strawberry sandwiches. We tried the Teriyaki, Tuna Mayo, and Eel onigiri, but we both felt that they were mostly rice with too little filling. From the restaurant, we ordered the Gyudon, which was surprisingly delicious. The beef was flavorful, and the portion size was great for the price. There's plenty of seating, and the staff is very efficient. While Marufuji offers a variety of Japanese treats and snacks, I will say that many of these items can be found online or other grocery stores for a lower price.

Marufuji has been open for about a week now. We came on a Saturday, during early afternoon hours, and the line was long, but moved fairly fast. We waited outside in line about 20 minutes. Inside the market was not very crowded, it was definitely good idea to limit the number of customers to come in. By the little sit down area also where the fresh made foods, sushi and sashimi section, there was a line. Value- for fresh made foods item, price is worth it. BUT, for most everything else is way overpriced. For instance: organic miso, ramune, fresh veggies you can get the same thing for 30% cheaper in Great Wall supermarket or H Mart. Service- polite as always, you can expect the typical top of the line customer service here. Parking- parking lot is not very big and they share with other businesses. Due to it is newly open, it was very crowded. It was good that came to check the place out, but will not be a place to do our regular shopping. Mitsuwa Market in New Jersey offers much better selection of goods and better deals.

Upon arrival the parking lot was dark. Seemed like it was the whole shopping center. The store itself was open and arrived an hour before closing time. They were pretty busy and a ton shopping. Place looked clean and simple just like Japan. A ton of authentic items from Japan. And wished we arrived earlier to try the sandwiches as it looked like a ton were already gone.

Going to this grocery store ended up being a fun side quest with my mom. They have a great prepared food section including Onigiri and sweets.

Nice to have a Japanese mkt in dmv area. I agree with other reviews that as far as grocery items, pretty much you can find them at your hmart,lotte. I mainly wanted to see what they offer for ready food section. We tried the onigiri, cod roe, the almost non existent ramen pork+1/2ramen egg, and eel. Nothing special. Tuna roll was prob the best I've ever had. We parked at the bank next door, went on Sunday early afternoon. No line, but there are still plenty of people inside the store. No crazy long cashier line either, which I was glad. We went back inside the store to get more tuna roll after we ate the first one we got, in the car. The tuna melts in your mouth. In summary, it is worth a trip to check it out, at least for once.

Visited Sunday afternoon around 3PM thinking the crowd would have died down by now, wishful thinking!! It was still crowded as heck. There were no lines out the door waiting to go in but the store inside was still packed with people, really hard to go through the aisles when there are lots of big carts being pushed and people standing there studying items everywhere. Checkout lines were also really long and the bakery had sold out of slices of cake. I wanted only a few things but since the checkouts were so long I decided to just leave without buying anything. Items look great and so much selection, the sashimi is a good deal compared to going to a sushi restaurant. But honestly I will only come back if the crowd die down significantly in the future, in the mean time I can totally order everything I need (besides the sashimi) thru Weee grocery delivery. Another thing I noticed is the great selection of packaged items (such as noodles or meals that require some prep) but a lot of them don't have instructions in English. Since I can read Kanji I can make out most of the instructions but for an average American person it would be pretty hard to decipher, without taking photos and using a good translation program.

Went on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised how close it is to a metro station! Maybe about 40% of the stuff can be found at other Asian grocery stores, but there were a lot of things worth getting here at reasonable prices. The veggies looked really fresh. Not too much of a fruit section though. The prepared food/sushi looked soooo good!! From toyosu market! I'll def have to try next time. Meat also looked very fresh - but a little expensive. Lots of fun special snacks from Hokkaido too. The aisles are a bit tight to navigate with carts so traffic builds up a bit. Use a hand basket if you can!

Checked out Marufuji Japanese Market in Tysons a week after their grand opening. The store itself has a decent selection of Japanese groceries, snacks, and specialty items--definitely some interesting finds if you're into Japanese cuisine. It's a nice addition to the area, though it still feels like they're working out the kinks. We went on a Wednesday around 11:30 AM and decided to grab lunch at the food court before the crowd rolled in. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty underwhelming. The chicken katsu we ordered was served cold, which took away from what should have been a crispy, flavorful bite. We also picked up a few onigiri with different fillings, but they were mostly just rice--about 95% of it--with the tiniest piece of shrimp tempura inside. Overall, the market itself is worth checking out, especially for groceries and Japanese pantry staples, but the food court left much to be desired. Since they're still new, I'm hoping they improve the quality of their hot food offerings over time. I'd come back to browse the store, but I'd think twice before ordering lunch again.

After hearing about the grand opening through social media we were excited to finally stop by! It was a packed Saturday with tons of new customers. The service was fast and the store was very clean. They offer a great variety of Japanese products such as any noodle you can think of fresh or dry, fresh made sushi/nigiri, and a cafe. The drink options are amazing and we will be sure to come back for the coffee.
