I’ve come several times to this location to enjoy a bowl of ramen and each time this place never fails to deliver a yummy bowl of ramen. I stopped by today for a lunch date and everything was delicious. I do want to point out that the service was exceptional today. The service is always great but Kennedy was patient with us looking at the menu options and was attentive the entire time. Overall, I strongly recommend this place.

I really enjoyed the Hakata Tonkotsu DX at Marafuku Ramen! It’s a true Hakata-style ramen with an incredibly rich and flavorful pork broth. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings were generous and delicious. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic ramen with deep flavor!

I really enjoyed the ramen here—it's a reliable, satisfying bowl that comes absolutely loaded with toppings. I had the hakata tonkatsu dx bowl of ramen that features a light, flavorful broth with hints of pork and corn that feels comforting without being too heavy. I also tried the gyoza, which were just okay, but the super refreshing side salad made up for it. The sweet soy dressing was something I'd come back to have again. The atmosphere is lively and fun, making it a spot I’d happily return to.

We stumbled into here late afternoon after our intended kitchen had already closed for dinner prep, and boy were we glad that we did. This is a hidden gem (I was surprised to learn it is a franchise) that has it all - fantastic Japanese-styled service, attractive pricing, and solid ramen. We had the Spicy Tantan ramen which was delicious and the right amount of heat - very much present but not overwhelming. The broth was delicious and took them up on the additional order of noodles. Menu is simple and straightforward. Their gyoza had me reminiscing about my long overdue Trader Joe’s shopping trip, but at $3 for 6 pieces during happy hour, I wasn’t disappointed. The main dining was populated by a good number of families - both visiting and locals alike. The entrance had a wonderful bar that looks into the kitchen and feels like a perfect spot if you were looking to dine alone and many were. If you are looking for a salve for a colder night or winter day that won’t break the bank, this checks all the boxes.

This is my go to ramen spot in the city, I love it so much and I enjoy going to the toy Tokyo store across the street to get a blind box. The sake selection is amazing and has just what I need. I always order the takoyaki balls everytime. Perfect small appetizer to start

I really enjoyed my experience here! As a vegetarian, it's always tough to find good ramen spots that have flavorful broths. I was pleasantly surprised by the Vegetable Ramen here! The broth was very tasty and I loved that the boiled egg was also vegetarian! I ordered a side of extra tofu as well - I found the tofu very well flavored - it was marinated in a great sauce!! The chili sauce on the side added a good flavor to the broth as well! My friends ordered the Hakada Tonkotsu and Spicy Tantan ramens and also enjoyed them! My only wish were that there were vegetarian options in the appetizers, unfortunately didn't find anything that I could eat. The service was pretty standard overall. The restaurant itself is well decorated and much bigger once you walk inside! My experience was great here overall

Very large portion of ramen. They also give you an entire egg which is nicely soft-boiled. Buta kakuni was very thick and had great marinated flavor with a nice slight sweetness. Char siu was good but average, not bad but not as memorable to me. Broth was creamy and decently flavored - nice for a cold winter day. I also liked the chicken karaage - juicy meat with a nice crisp, and the sauce was a nice complement. The back room is very open with a lot of space and is brighter compared to the narrower bar seating upon entry. It was not busy when we arrived at 6pm on a weekday, but seats started to fill up about an hour later. Staff was pretty friendly, but also they were ready to immediately take away trash and empty plates as soon as they appeared on our table, which was a little awkward because it felt kind of like we couldn't sit and relax. Overall nice experience though and pricing is pretty good for the portion size.

The ambiance was cozy but a bit cramped--tables were very close together, making it a challenge to get in and out of the booth seats. As for the food, I preferred the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen over the Chicken Paitan. While the chicken in the Paitan was bland and flavorless, the soup base itself was rich and flavorful. The Spicy Tan Tan was the highlight of the meal. Service-wise, there were long waits between server visits, which wasn't ideal. However, once we placed our order, the food arrived quickly, which was a positive. One notable downside was the bathroom cleanliness. The garbage was overflowing with tissues, and there were tissues near the sink and on the floor. I would strongly recommend more frequent cleaning or at least emptying the garbage to maintain hygiene. Overall, it's a decent spot if you're in the mood for a warm bowl of ramen.

Holy moly! This is probably my new favorite ramen spot. The place is bigger than it looks with lots of nice mood lighting and seating options whether you want to eat solo at the bar or at a booth/table with friends. The broth was DELICIOUS and had so much flavor, the noodles were the best I had and came with a generous serving. The DX version of both the chicken and pork tonkotsu were worth it. The extra pork belly and the chicken leg were insanely tasty and the dishes were very filling. The waitress was very knowledgeable on the sake and helped us. We loved it! Ours had a sweet but mineral taste with hints of goat milk. Happy I tried this spot - it is SO worth it.

Fantastic ramen spot in the East Village- this place specializes in the milky broths (tonkotsu and paitan), which are sure to fill you with thick, soupy joy! We went in on a Sunday evening with no reservation- we luckily were able to get two counter seats with a view of the kitchen. Later on I saw that the front entrance was PACKED, so make sure you make a reservation, you might not be as lucky as I was! You can adjust the level of spiciness which is nice- I also asked for firm noodles for my tonkotsu ramen (mild spiciness). My husband got the deluxe version (which comes with kakuni- a thick slab of braised pork belly and nori) with medium spiciness. The ramen was AMAZING- the broth was thick and creamy but surprisingly not overwhelming. It felt really balanced, and I loved the freshness the red ginger gave to the soup. Noodles could've been a little firmer so next time I will ask for extra firm. Thin noodles just soak up the soup faster I guess so need to put that into account! The medium boiled egg went amazingly with the ramen too- the jammy center was just perfect. I was curious to why they didn't cut the egg in half (it's a little hard to cut open an egg when it's bobbing in soup!) but realize now that it is their 'thing' so I'm not going to mess with that ^^;; Really cannot wait to go back to try the paitan chicken broth ramen

So after many months, I decided to take advantage of the free drink promise for my very disappointing first experience many moons ago and was curious to see what it was like. I went for the yuzu spritzer, and Maki identified herself and was ever so apologetic and accommodating, and gave me another! They have veggie ramen now, so my partner got it when we stopped by together again recently, and loved it--she was gravitating toward one of the meat-based ramen but I steered her toward this and she didn't miss the animal meat. I got the in-store salad which was super fresh and light, a great compliment to the ika karrage which reminded me of Japan. There was a white guy two seats away from us who ordered entirely in Japanese: That was super nice to experience. So yeah, Marufuku might be our go-to J place now. Super easy for me to get to after work on the F.

Had reservations for 12. When you walk in you wouldn't think there's a larger seating area but there is when you walk all the way down. We got seated fairly quickly since we had reservations. Service went pretty well considering our large party. Didn't wait too long for the food. Ordered the chashu bowl and it was tasty. Also tried the chicken kaarage bowl and the tonkatsu. The noodles had good texture and the broth was yummy and savory.

A perfectly fine ramen spot that you'll be guaranteed to find a seat on a given evening you are having a crave for ramen or just dinner in the neighborhood. The Chicken Paitan DX (limited to 15 a day) is a fun attraction for the menu and worth trying. While the texture is great, the chicken leg is a bit too sweet for my palate. The white meat in the ramen was actually more enjoyable overall. I can't say the appetizers or the ramen experience overall stood out, but for a beautiful space, decent food at good prices, and friendly staff - you can do a lot worse.

5/5 loved the broth which is how I judge ramen. It was so flavorful and creamy and delicious. Both the tonkotsu and chicken paitan were both really great broths. I got the tonkotsu which the meat was average, noodles were thin, but again the broth was the star and I got it no spicy because I didn't want anything messing with that flavor. Partner got the chicken paitan dx which means it came with that sizzling chicken leg. The chicken broth he got med spicy and it added a bit of a punch. But again really good base regardless. He liked the noodles but the broth was average to him but it's cuz he doesn't usually go for the creamy style rich broths. The chicken leg was pretty nice, a sticky sweet soy sauce on it on a bed of bean sprouts. It was good but parts of the edges were a bit overcooked/glazed which some people do like. Oh side note the egg was meh. A bit over cooked and not as runny as I'd like and not marinated.

Wow. With every bite I took, that word just kept coming outta my mouth. First off all, great ambiance, loved the view into the kitchen as we ate at the bar area. Second, excellent service, really warm greeting and quick seating. Third, and most importantly.. the food.. is... SMACKING. Started with the Pirikara Chicken Bites and these pack a PUNCH.. each bite is so flavorful and leaves a nice heat on the tongue. I ordered the Spicy TanTan Men, absolutely delicious, used the lemon to cut through the richness of the broth and it was the perfect heat to keep me coming back for more bites. I also had the Pearly Yuzu which was a pear liqueur with Prosecco and yes it's as scrumptious as it sounds. Will I be back? Abso-f*cking-lutely.

Came here for a late lunch around 2pm on the weekend for two people. No line or wait for a table. Quick service - was in and out in an hour. The front looks small with counter seating that overlooks the kitchen, but if you walk in further there's a larger dining area with plenty of tables. Initially was concerned because I was the only Asian customer (hah!) but I was pleasantly surprised. If you're craving ramen, I think this is a great spot. Got the Hakata Tonkotsu. Really enjoyed the broth - not watery at all, perfectly salty and nice amount of richness. Noodles weren't soggy. Plenty of toppings, though the meat portion is quite small. Also got the Takoyaki. Octopus was a bit chewy, but overall I enjoyed this. Tastes like your standard takoyaki!

I ordered delivery ramen from here and the food made me feel so heavy and sick after for two full days from the thick and oily broth. I saw a few other reviews mention this but I just wanted to highlight it that this place is not for those with sensitive stomachs. I ordered the classic tonkotsu ramen and it gave me the days long stomach issues. It tasted fine, nothing to write home about. I'm just frustrated I had an upset stomach for days after as well as headaches from all of the sodium / additives / msg used

This place is still so good, and this time I went for a happy hour + outdoor seating. They are super dog friendly and have a few tables in front of the restaurant where you can sit at and I still love the flavor of everything I get here. I got the chicken paitan and my partner got the tantanmen with ground chicken. That one is spicy vs the chicken paitain is reputably known for their buttery flavor in the broth. The happy hour is so good because every dish of gyoza is only $3 and the beer is only $5 for a tall glass! We were so extremely stuffed but very happy after all of our food and will definitely take advantage of their Gyoza happy hour again! They even were amazing at providing us an extra chair for the dogs and had efficient and quick service! I will definitely be back, and at this rate I've been back almost every season!

My group was seated fast and presented with menus. I was a little worried since it was dead on a busy day in NYC at around 6 pm, but we were pleasantly surprised with the edamame (cooked to perfection, not too soft or hard, lightly salted), the gyoza, the sake (very good hot sake), and our main dishes. All ramen options we ordered had more than enough food in them for the price. The vegetable ramen looked great and had delicious tofu in it. The chicken and pork options also did not disappoint. The bathrooms were nice and very clean. The service could have been a lot friendlier. I would come back again for some hot ramen on a cold, rainy day.

One of my favorites places for ramen on a cold winter day. The broth is rich and creamy. Traditionally ramen bases are on the saltier side, but I didn't feel like Marufuku was overly salty. When I come here I always snag a ramen and their limited chicken legs. I think they only make like 15 a day. Definitely worth the money as the leg is tender and nicely glazed. One thing is which was that the cha siu was more charred for more texture. Overall, I enjoy this go-to spot with friends for good. The ambience and service are great.

Not bad. One of the good ones in the city. We had the Chicken Paitan, Hakata Tonkotsu DX, and Tokoyaki. Chicken Paitan: It's very flavorful compared to most chicken ramen I had. Hakata Tonkotsu DX: I really like the chashu pork. It has a subtle herb flavor which makes it very tasty. Takoyaki is just takoyaki (in a good way). I always crave for it once in a while.

5 stars for some of the tastiest ramen you will ever experience. They have multiple dishes which are all good but the Tonkatsu DX is as pretty close to perfection as you will get. Savory and just the right level of spice. Tender noodles, delicious pork, fresh veggies. Kudos on the Chicken Paitan as well. Very flavorful. Very accommodating to Vegans as well. Lots of options and you can easily sub Tofu for many of the dishes. The Tofu Karange was very good. Service was friendly and fast.

Bowl of Ramen sounded good and this was the closest place to where I was. They have gluten free noodle for their ramen but the broth still has a little wheat so not completely GF. The ramen was THE BEST I've ever had. Also have rice bowls and appetizers. Lots of saki to choose from. One white wine and one red wine. Google said wait time was 75 minutes but the restaurant was almost empty at 6:45 on a Thursday night. Friendly staff and great service. Basic clean restaurant and you can look into kitchen from bar. I'll be back!

We got seated immediately as there was no wait. I was super excited to try this place but ended up being a bit disappointed. 3 different servers helped us and all of them were great except one girl. Her tone of voice came off extremely rude. Aside from service, the food was mediocre. My party ordered 2 haka tonkatsu ($16.50/each), 1 chicken paitan dx ($22), chicken karrage ($9), and the ikka karrage ($11.50). The appetizers were not bad but a bit on the oily side. Ramen was okay.

This is some of the best ramen I've ever had. Definitely the best I've had in a while. I ordered the chicken paitan and the gyoza. The broth was perfectly seasoned and the dumplings were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The waitstaff was extremely friendly, and I loved the vibes of the restaurant. They have bar seating overlooking the kitchen, heated outdoor seating, and a large back room with plenty of tables. Although they don't accept reservations, they do have a waitlist every night. I recommend adding yourself to the waitlist online before showing up. Keep in mind that the wait times aren't always accurate. When I went, the wait time was an hour but we were seated within 20 minutes. Overall, this is a great spot and I will 100% be going back!

I have never had ramen like this before! I went here on a Sunday afternoon and was the only patron. The waitress was extremely attentive, making sure my water was never empty and that I got my check quickly. My ramen came out with a few minutes of ordering. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu DX. It comes with two meats, chashu and BRAISED PORK BELLY. When I say the pork belly is amazing, I mean it. How have I never had this before?? Pork belly is one of God's greatest gifts and combining it with ramen was a heaven like no other. The chashu was good too but it was completely outshined by the pork belly. The broth was also good. It was rich in flavor but didn't feel too overbeating. All the other toppings and the noodles were good but did not stand out when compared to other ramen spots. My mind was just infatuated with that pork belly!! You need to try this place, and you need to try the Hakata Tonkotsu!! I hope other places catch on to this because by God was it amazing.

I was looking for new ramen spots have a group dinner and found Marufuku on an Eater list. They don't have reservations, so we just walked in around 5:45pm on a random Thursday. We were seated in a table in the back almost immediately. The ramen was really good. I had the tonkatsu DX, which comes with braised pork belly in addition to the chashu. The broth was flavorful, noodles were cooked perfectly, and the egg was perfect. The gooey yolk on the inside was so good. Service was very good and attentive. We had a great time and will 100% return.

Wow! This place is extremely underrated and more people need to know about it! It's one of the best ramens I've had recently. I ordered a tonkotsu broth ramen while my friends ordered a chicken ramen and Tan Tan style ramen. We were all very happy with our decisions. The broth was rich and silky while the cha-siu is tender. I also got to sample the Tan Tan and I am definitely going to try that next, the spicy peanut broth was addictive. Gyozas were a hit too, I am 100% returning here for my ramen fix. Bonus: ample and spacious seating with good AC, a must for the hot summer days

I'm torn. I was expecting more based on the rave reviews but beyond the tonkotsu broth (which was rich and fantastic) and the thick pork belly (which was tender and very umami), the rest of the meal fell flat. Between my roommate and me, we had had gyoza, chicken Karaage, the Hakata Tonkutsu DX, and the chicken paitan. The gyoza was very bland. I've had better from the grocery store freezer. The karaage was tender but lacked flavor. They're separate dishes but in the photo I combined them since I only remembered to take the photo halfway ‍ The ramen broth was great but the dish itself didn't do it for me. If the broth was a 5/5 the noodles were more like a 3/5. I don't know how to put it but it just didn't leave a satisfying bite.

Top Notch! i was feeling really picky tonight for some reason. Everything and yet nothing sounded good. Ramen suddenly came to thought. I did some quick research on Yelp and Came across this place. very flavorful broth, perfect amount of accoutrement to go into the ramen. I also, got an order of the fried chicken. Definitely worth a visit! I'll start with the food - I got the Hakata Tonkotsu ramen (medium spicy) and everything tasted fresh. The broth was creamy and didn't sit heavy and there was a generous portion. Something I feel sets this apart from other ramen places are the noodles! They were the perfect noodles. I feel like most places focus on the broth and just dump mediocre noodles in, but this place makes excellent noodles and broth. Knowing nothing about Marufuku, I was surprised they had other locations! They definitely didn't compromise anything as they expanded. The decor was nice and simple. Looking in from the outside though, you would assume this place would be in the quieter side, but they have a huge room in the back where they seat most patrons and it was quite loud once we reached area. Some of the tables were a little close together so depending on how busy it is when you get there, you may be doing an awkward shuffle into your seat. Lastly, the staff were all friendly and helpful. I also appreciated how simple the menu was. We'll definitely be back!

I ordered the chicken paitan ramen and the Japanese ginger housemade soda. Devineeeeeee. The broth was super flavorful and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The ginger soda was extremely refreshing and I could really feel that ginger. A tad bit too much ice in the drink, I wish I had more to sip! The only downside was the wait time. We waited nearly 20 minutes to have our orders taken and another 20 to be served. Otherwise, great food and service!

The ramen here is very good, so I can understand why this is an established crowd pleaser in SF. The pork was tender, fall-apart perfection, the egg yoke was as runny as I could hope for, and the broth was savory + delicious without being too thick or rich. My friend who's vegetarian also loves their veggie ramen. Came here on a Saturday night close to close. We tried to use the Yelp waitlist but I'm not sure how much it helped since we still had to wait once we arrived. I guess the waitlist just determines the queue for when you get there? The server we spoke to upon arriving was sweet and communicative. We weren't sure if we would get a table before the kitchen closed but she kept us in the loop about whether or not someone was close to leaving. Asked for medium spicy for my broth but personally I felt it was quite mild. Everyone at my table ended up using the powdered spice they give you at the table. We all felt it layered well. Got the takoyaki to start and also really enjoyed this. Solid, standard takoyaki. All in all it was a delicious experience. Will definitely come back.

Definitely one of the best chicken ramen I've had by far. Their chicken bites are also very good and worth a shot. No complaints about the service, and the ambiance is cute for a date or hang with some friends. You could sit at bar, tables or high tables. I love trying new spots and this place definitely made the list of places I'd come back to!

Wow, this joint is a hidden gem in the city. We came here on Sunday at 2PM with no reservations and were seated quickly. The place is spacious, relaxing and clean. Ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu DX ramen and it was one of the BEST ramens I've had in the city. The broth was incredible, according to the sign in the front it's a 10 hour process so not surprised it was that good. The ribs melted in my mouth. I actually got sad when I finished the bowl. We also ordered the hot sake and a pear sake which was perfect. TLDR; one the most underrated and one of the best ramens in the city.

Came here for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant was completely empty. Kind of surprising since I heard there are always long wait times at their SF branch. The restaurant is divided into two sections: bar seating in the front and table seating in the back. Our waitress was awesome! Very kind, attentive and thorough without being overly intrusive. We ordered: Chicken karaage- Solid appetizer. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy and the mayo sauce that came with it was good. Hakata tonkotsu DX- Same as the non-DX version except it come with an extra thick cut pork belly, corn and seaweed. The broth was absolutely delicious and flavorful and the noodles had just the right texture. It only comes with two thin slices of chashu pork though but I think that's how authentic ramen chashu is supposed to be prepared. The extra thick cut pork belly was YUMM! All of the other ingredients added a delicious flavor profile to the dish. Chicken paitan DX- Comes with a huge sizzling chicken leg on the side...I mean go big or go home right?? And the fact that they only limit 15 servings of this per day gave me intense FOMO if I didn't order it haha. I don't usually order chicken ramen but the broth in this one was so flavorful and delicious! Definitely completely changed my mind about chicken ramen. The white meat chicken was pretty good as well. The chicken leg on the side was juicy and flavored perfectly with soy sauce. I would say this is one of the better ramen places in NYC. The food was better than average and service was excellent. Prices aren't bad either. Just be careful not to overorder, especially if you get the DX ramen because it is a lot of food. We were completely stuffed by the time we left. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever craving a good bowl of ramen!

We ordered the chicken paitan , veggie ramen, and chicken karage. The chicken ramen: broth perfectly thick and creamy with strong umami flavor; very filling, great portion; great ramen overall. Chicken karage was standard. Veggie ramen--excellent broth. Ample seating and cozy environment overall; solid service. No complaints and would return.

Ambiance (5/5): The restaurant has so much seating! There's a covered outdoor dining area that connects to the front of the inside, which has a bar area to order/wait. Then there's a long hallway that overlooks the kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your meal. Deeper inside the restaurant, the dining area. The decorations feel modern and sleek. They do not take reservations but when we came in at 8pm on a Friday, the establishment was only 30% full. Service (5/5): The staff was polite and friendly. I felt like I was checked on often. Pear Yuzu Cocktail ($9): It was delicious!! I definitely could see myself downing like several of these. Hakata Tonkotsu (4/5): The broth was extremely savory but on the salty side. There was a full seasoned egg, cooked with a superbly running yolk. There were 2 thin pieces of charsiu pork (it almost felt as thin as a slice of bacon!) The spicy heat level was appropriate but could've been spicier! I liked the ramen but at the same time wasn't blown away.

Great Ramen restaurant around St. Marks in NYC. We came here based on recommendations from my friend, and the experience didn't disappoint. The karage was decent, not the best external batter, but the inside was nice and tender, and the sauce was a good addition. I got the Premium Chashu which came with 7 large slices of pork. They were very generous with the amount of meat and ingredients. I also really liked the broth and the flavor, though I have to say that I couldn't drink all the broth because it was pretty heavy. The cost was pretty standard, but I think you actually get more food than with other ramen shops. The restaurant's decor is nice and has a classic type of appeal. The servers were nice and attentive. Solid place to go for ramen!

Came here with 3 of my friends last night and really enjoyed everything up until the end of our meal. I asked the server for the check when we were almost done and while I was busy looking at the Toast tablet to make sure everything was correct, the server took it upon herself to clear everything off the table even though we were halfway through our ramen. By the time I looked up from the Toast tablet she had already cleared my ramen which I intended to finish after I paid the bill. I was thoroughly enjoying everything up until that point but I'm still very upset that I didn't even get to finish my ramen because the server decided to clear the table without asking if it was OK to clear first. I'm a server/bartender as well and know better than to clear a table without asking if everyone is done. Just because someone asks for the check doesn't mean that they are DONE. Not only did this happen to me but to my other friend that was looking over the bill with me. This was a really sour ending to what was a good meal. Very upsetting...

Food is average quality. There are many other places with better and more authentic ramen. The service is ok. The kitchen uses this high pitch alarm for the cooking devices, and the sound is unbearable and it beeps constantly. If you sit at the counter, it can get very annoying. Do not recommend this place.

I LOVE YOU MARUFUKU. So I came here at 11:30am right when they opened. Hungry. Tired. Cold. Just really craving a big bowl of ramen. But thing is I did not have Apple Pay nor my credit card with me and with embarrassment, I pleaded to pay with Venmo or Zelle. Guess, the two sweetest and kindest Maki and the short-haired server still took me in! The bar area is a perfect for solo dining. Chicken Paitan DX 1000/10 oh my god the first sip gave my soul the biggest hug with its ultra spicy, deep umami, rich, perfect amount of salt creamy chicken broth (spicy chili powder on the table for extra kick!) thin al dente noodles soaking up all the goodness with a generous whooping of scallions, kikurage, corn, bean sprouts and on top lays two beautiful slices of chicken and a runny soft-boiled egg. if perfection was a bowl, this would be it. not to mention, the DX comes with a side of a huge roasted/grilled chicken leg laying on top of a bed of bean sprouts that comes out piping hot on a sizzling plate. the skin is crispy, charred and caramelized with a sweet/bbq sauce--sooo tender and flavorful. From hospitality to food, im writing this with full disclosure that this is perhaps my best ramen in NYC. I truly hope Marufuku gets all the love it deserves.
