An updated it review on April 12th 2025. I can genuinely say i loved this place, Quick answer if you are reading reviews to see if you should come, do so, come in and enjoy, it's great. There are "bad" things to mention so stick around, The "bad-not so good- the ok" : ●The tables are very bad, very wobbly, they should seek a solution to that. ●The shrimp, chicken tempura are okey, they are not super tasty, which I think the chicken could be way better if they seasoned the chicken prior doing all the cooking, shrimp maybe too, but yeah there's that. ●Gyozas are okey, not super tasty either. Adding the gyoza sauce to the tempuras and gyozas does help tho, but it could get lot better I'm sure. Now, the GREAT" ●The "tamago/egg" tempura, OMG, it was extremely delicious, I loved it, you must must get it. ●Squid, this is also I must try, I was very good. ●the Udon was great too, I am very pleased with the flavor. ●the ambient is great, staff is slavery friendly, energy felt good at the kitchen. What got my by surprised: The way they serve, is like a dinning facility where you get a tray and get served, that was fun, more efficient I felt. At the end, we spend little over $45 dlls. I will be back for sure, my favorite Udon restaurant for sure 👏

We’re very familiar with Marugame Udon—it’s actually one of my favorite ramen spots. I lived in Japan for four years, where it’s known as Marugame Seimen, and we used to go often since there was a location near our house. We’ve also visited the two locations in Hawaii a few times. So I was really excited to see one finally open nearby. This was our first time at this specific location, and it did not disappoint. Thankfully, there wasn’t a crazy long line like the one in Waikiki, which was a nice surprise. If you’ve never been, the experience is kind of a build-your-own setup. You pick your style of udon and then add your choice of tempura and sides at the end. It’s also really cool to watch them making the noodles fresh right in front of you—it adds to the authenticity and vibe. The food was great as always, and I really appreciated the artwork on the walls at this location. It gave the place a modern, welcoming feel. I'm super happy to have one closer to home now—we’ll definitely be back!

Google
Worth checking out if you’re into udon! I’ve been to the one in Waikiki and this is very similar, except with air conditioning and less lines. The large bowls are enormous and a lot of food so choose wisely. Tempura is hit or miss, some soggier than others but the broths and noodle quality were great. Staff is great, and there is a tray return, so tables stayed pretty clean. Nice outdoor heaters that are very effective!

My boyfriend and I are visiting Seattle and picked this place to eat. It was so good! The portion sizes were awesome for the piece point and they didn’t skimp on noodles or meat. We both ordered the Nikutama. Sweet and savory and delicious. I added fireball into mine because I love spice and it was great. The art work in the building is also awesome. The cashier was very lovely, sweet and helpful. 10/10 will come again

If you have toddlers and love udon, I’d highly recommend this place! The udon noodles are freshly made, and you can really taste the difference—super flavorful and satisfying. Food comes out quickly, and the self-service setup for water and utensils makes things so much easier when you’re dining with little ones. The only downside was the egg—it looked runny and soft in the photo, but what we got was more fully cooked and not as appealing. Still, overall a great spot for a quick and tasty family meal.

Google
The udon noodles have a great texture with a satisfying chew, and the curry sauce, while a bit on the thinner side, still brings a decent flavor. Side items like the katsu chicken and shrimp tempura were nicely prepared—crispy and tender—but could’ve been hotter, especially for a weekday lunch. Prices on the sides felt a bit high compared to the noodle bowl, but the clean and well-maintained dining area made for a pleasant overall experience.

Google
Good to know Marugame expanded to Washington! Two of us ordered: large tonkotsu udon $13.95 large nikutama udon $13.95 calamansi $3.50 chicken tempura $2.85 hawaiian passionfruit punch $3.50 No line when we went Friday afternoon for a late lunch. Food was a bit slow to make. Not sure if staff was still training. Definitely can have some trouble with parking due to mall.

Google
I couldn't decide what to get between sweet beef and pork belly, so I got both. I tried both the Tonkotsu noodle and the Gyudon rice. Even the regular sized Tonkotsu was enough to satiate my appetite, but like a true American I over ate and finished both dishes. The Gyudon had something that made me want to keep eating more. The sweet beef was divine, and the Tonkotsu was prepared to perfection. The made fresh Udon noodles were tender and soaked up the flavor nicely. Absolutely worth a visit!

Yelp
Marugame Udon offers freshly made Japanese udon and tempura, and I've tried it in both Hawaii and Tukwila, Washington. Both locations are excellent, delivering consistently delicious food. The udon noodles are the highlight--super soft, chewy, and freshly made. The broth is minimal but provides just enough flavor to coat the noodles perfectly. The beef is tender and flavorful, and I love the crunchy toppings they add on top, which give it an extra layer of texture. The tempura is decent, not amazing, but it pairs well with the noodles. What makes the experience even better is the theater kitchen setup, where you can watch your udon and tempura being prepared fresh. It's definitely worth the drive. If you're craving authentic and delicious Japanese udon, Marugame Udon is a must-try!

Yihua Z.

Yelp
Curry Noodles are Too salty The beef and pork in the noodle is not very fresh. The shrimp in the tempura not very fresh.

Maria L.

Yelp
Okay, so I had take out from Marugame. My daughter had given me the Nikutama Udon. Which they did provide a good amount of udon noodles. For it being a take out order, they did a great job of having everything separate. For instance the sauce, noodles, tempura, and herbs all on individual containers. But the sweet beef and egg were together. They also gave you instructions on how you're supposed to reheat this, as well! For the meal itself, I ate almost half of it and I couldn't finish it. Lots more noodles left. I can't say that I would try this again, because everything just got much more sweeter than I would like. Maybe, dining in and ordering something other than Nikutama udon would be better. Next time, I will try dining in.

Justine S.

Yelp
Came here to warm up with a bowl of udon and it was amazing! You go in and order what you want and they make it right then and there. We got the one with curry sauce, beef, and egg. The noodles are thick and chewy and the sauce is flavorful. You can upgrade to a larger bowl for like $1 and you will get so much! It's definitely comfort food especially if you're looking for something on a cold day. It's quick and easy to get in, get your food, and get seated. We also tried some of their tempuras. Staff is super nice, and the place is pretty clean and well kept. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
We arrived around 4:30 PM on a Sunday. There was no line, and we quickly found a table to sit down. We ordered the Nikutama, Tamagoyaki, and Green Bean Tempura. The Tamagoyaki was incredibly delicious, especially with the sauce provided. However, we found the udon lacked sufficient soup, and the soft-boiled egg was slightly undercooked. The staff was friendly and promptly cleared our dishes after we finished eating. The restaurant was crowded and seemed more suited for a quick eat-and-go experience. Overall, it was a good experience, and we joined their rewards program. I just wish they had a location north of Seattle as well.

Bo P.

Yelp
Been here twice so far. I've had the basic sweet beef udon and I've had the teriyaki chicken katsu. I really enjoyed the sweet beef udon and I would absolutely order that again but I would likely not order the teriyaki chicken katsu for two reasons: 1) they drench it with sauce, 2) the chicken's texture was odd. I'm from Hawaii and grew up on chicken katsu; we even make it from scratch at home. The texture of this chicken seemed borderline fake. It was just odd or unusual. The color was pure white (like bleach white) and it was airy. I really don't know how else to explain it. I'd definitely be back for the udon and tempuras but nothing else. Other than that, service is quick and efficient and the workers are often cleaning off the tables so the turnover of tables move at a good speed.

Sophia T.

Yelp
The service here is pretty fast if you are eating there. When you order to go there is a separate monitor on the right side where you can order and then you wait for your food to be displayed on the shelf near the condiments/utensil station. Plenty of parking since it is at southcenter mall. My friends love going here to eat whenever they are craving udon. Would rate this place a 3.5/5. There was plenty of seating when we went there and in the summer when the weather is nicer they have seating outside. I got the tonkatsu udon and thought that for the service and price it was not a bad deal. I just wished there was more tonkatsu chashu pork slices. The Hawaiian fruit punch was so good and refreshing here.

Vincent C.

Yelp
I came into Marugame Udon for dinner. The place was packed, but the service was lightning fast. Unlike most noodle places, Marugame Udon is set up like a build-your-own fast food restaurant, allowing you to quickly place and customize an order. As for the quality of the food, it was pretty good for the price. The broth was savory, and the toppings were plentiful. The only thing I would improve on is the amount of broth in the soup. They barely gave me enough broth to cover my noodles. Overall, Marugame Udon is a solid choice if you're looking for a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Didn't really meet the hype that I've been hearing about. Coming here with a part of 3 on a Saturday night, we actually didn't have an issue finding a spot to sit and line wasn't too long. It's a cafeteria style where you order your udon dish at the beginning of the line and you serve yourself the different times of tempura you'd like to purchase. I got the curry nikutama udon which I thought was alright. It had a creamy feel to it and thought the beef was kind of tough and I can see myself trying the regular curry udon next time. The tonkotsu ramen was light, but a little on the bland side. But it does hit the spot on a cold Seattle night. Tempura is a must get add on though. The potato and the tamago tempura were really solid.

Yelp
Nice to have this in the Pacific NW.. for WA state, this is probably the best udon.. I looked forward to trying this place since it is my favorite udon in Honolulu Unfortunately, it trails that as the broth is sweeter and doesn't have spam musubi available at this location They definitely got a lot of workers here and great service Clean restrooms too Crowded just like Hawaii Best thing was the juicy Chicken Katsu.. Potato Croquette was good as well.. melt in your mouth potato

Yelp
I've never met a noodle I didn't like and these are no exception. Having spent time in Japan I'm pretty picky and these are absolutely as good as any I had there. The last time we tried to eat at this place there was a huge line. This time we went about 1:00 and it was pretty empty and very fast. It's a cafeteria type, a menu on the wall and you order the freshly made noodles with whatever you choose and the next server asks if you want a couple of toppings. Then you move down the line and there are items, tempura potato and shrimp, green beans and some other things. All of course are added to your cost. They have a large selection of bottled and canned drinks. Seating is a large open area with a lot of mural type cartoons on the walls. Its a little loud if there are lots of people but everyone seems cheerful and I for one can't wait to go have more delicious noodles

Samantha O.

Yelp
Tldr; udon is good, affordable, and lots of seating! Environment: it's very casual here the place is filled with cute cartoon drawings. Lots of tables, kinda tight sometimes but I don't mind. Service: service is so swift so even when there was a long line, I never starved before I got to my food. But I also came in late the last few times and there wasn't any line recently. And yes, You do bus your own tables. Food: My friend was asking if his choice of udon was pretty basic, and I replied "the whole menu is basic (in terms of udon flavor)." BUT THAT'S ALL YOU EVER NEED. they have the basics down, and that's what makes it great. There's nothing too fancy about the flavors. Choose ur base, add-ons, tempura, ur good to go! I think I've tried the dashi and the beef(?) flavor at this point. I go for dashi if I want more simple and milder flavors and beef for a big bang of stronger umami flavors. I also love the calamansi drink BTW, you should try it if ur curious. Theres lots of tempura options as well. And don't forget the sauce next to the water. All in all 10/10.

Yelp
I came here with my girlfriend for lunch on Friday. Marugame Udon is hard to find from the mall. From the mall, head towards where Mr Dim Sum and Gen Korean BBQ are located. The restaurant is outside, so you can't see it from the mall. It was lunchtime on the weekend, and there were a few people in line. It stopped at the old couple in front of me. I wondered what was going on, and it turned out they had run out of udon and were in the middle of making it. The waiter didn't explain to the customers, and we were made to wait. It was an unthinkable situation at Marugame Udon in Japan. The staff need improvement. My friend, who didn't know how to order, asked me for a recommendation. For first timers, I recommend Kake Udon, traditional Japanese fish broth, and adding complimentary green onions and tempura flakes. The menu board says 'most loved', but I recommend trying the Kake Udon first. The service was so slow, self-service water was so slow, the paper napkins were out, and I didn't know where the chili peppers were. I came here to excited to eat Marugame udon in Seattle, but I was surprised at the lack of preparation. Next time, I'd like to try something else without any hassle.

April J.

Yelp
Marugame Udon is a really delicious chain Japanese Udon spot that I only had the chance to eat at in Hawaii and Vancouver BC in the past. Me and my friends were so happy they opened one here in the Seattle area! It's located at the mall so parking is really easy, but on a Friday night we had to park far away and there was a pretty long line! It moves decently though, because it's a food court type situation where you pickup and bus your own food. I've also come on a weekday afternoon and there was no wait. The staff are very quick and you order your noodle selection first. I've had the classic as well as the curry, both are great. They have tempura and other fried options that you choose to add on as a side as you go down the line. From what I remember, a bowl is typically $12-15 depending on what you get. There is normal and large sizes. This is one of my favorite places to eat and will be back! Only knocking it down one star for the seating arrangements that feel very tight and close to other tables.

Calvi N.

Yelp
Food - Great food quality with lots of options for udon. They even have a tonkatsu flavor. Just a heads up for those unfamiliar, if you order a soft boiled egg it's literally a raw egg that you drop into your udon broth, it is not like a ramen tea egg. Also many deep fried sides available to add to your meal. Service - Fast service, you pick up a tray and order down the line. Ambiance - Open seating with fairly loud music. Can be overstimulating with all the kids and families there. Since this shop is next to the mall it's usually packed.

Yelp
I finally tried Marugame Udon after hearing about it since it opened. Having been to their Hawaii location, I came in with pretty high expectations. Overall, everything was solid! I ordered the Nikutama along with a few tempura side items. The broth was a bit sweet for my taste, but it still had good flavor. If you're looking to amp up the flavor or add some heat, I recommend trying the Fireball or Spicy Togarashi sauce/paste. Just a head up, grabbing side items is fun, but the total can add up quickly haha When I visited, there wasn't a line, but even if there is, I imagine the wait wouldn't be too long. People seem to be in and out pretty fast.

Hoang N.

Yelp
I think this place is a little better than U:Don because of the noodles but I had gotten to try the tonkatsu and nikutama, I think I had liked the tonkatsu more because nikutama was too salty in my opinion. I thought the fresh tempura was ok for the price it was like $2 a tempura which I thought was kinda high. Service was standard and there's a lot of seating inside. But I can see a long line happening here.

Kady S.

Yelp
First time trying this spot after hearing everyone talk about it for years! When I came it wasn't too busy as in no line out the door which was nice. (The second time I came there was a huge line). The experience reminded me of chipotle and how there is a line you order, add your mix ins, then pay at the end. It's nice because you may sit anywhere you like and they will buss your table. The pork udon was delicious. The udon noodles were cooked to perfection and it's very fresh! This place will have you coming back for more (Because I sure did)

Timothy L.

Yelp
I enjoyed Marugame Udon when I first tried it at their outpost in Hawaii and I was excited to see them open a spot in Southcenter Mall. I tried their nikutama udon and it had the nice mix of sweet and savory. There was a line but it moved pretty fast so wait was not too long to order.

Naliyah L.

Yelp
After failing to try in Hawaii and SF, I was so happy to hear Marugame Udon was coming to Washington! My friend and I visited maybe a week after opening and it was busy, but we didn't have to wait too long. The wait went by fairly quickly, although ordering was similar to being in a lunch line as a heads up. Once you're done ordering and have received your food, you'll have to find a dining table but beware it is tight in space. I ordered the nikutama with some shrimp tempura! The nikutama was good at first, but eventually got too sweet and not so savory for me as I continued to eat more. The shrimp tempura on the other hand was pretty good. Freshly fried and crispy!

Cat P.

Yelp
Had a good meal! Haven't been to any other locations so can't compare but would say while not the best udon I've had, would come back because I left full and food was quick. The menu and ordering process were easy to follow. Ordered the curry nikutama and because it was sauce based, expected a little more flavor/salt. I added both spicy add-ons at checkout which did help enhance the flavor a lot. Would recommend the fireball for adding to soup since it was more like a paste while the spicy togarashi sauce was more like a dipping sauce. Added the sweet potato and egg tempura add ons and LOVED the egg. Could have eaten 3x probably. The sweet potato however, was super dry. Was able to order straightaway at 6:45pm on a Monday night. A line formed shortly after but moved quickly. Service was prompt and helpful. Tables were cleared quickly too so new guests could sit.

Debra W.

Yelp
Went on grand opening and was super impressed by the quality and organization of the staff. The line flowed seamlessly. When I reached the tempura station, some of it was out but they were steadily refilling them. There is plenty of seating inside and out. A self service station for utensils and to go containers if needed. Also their tempura sauce on pump. I've only had Marugame udon a couple of times and that was in Hawaii. So needless to say, I was super excited to be able to eat it again. The noodles were just as decadent as I remembered. Soft but with a nice chew. The broth was delicious and savory yet still light. The beef is tender and tasty as well. Overall it's a great and satisfying bowl of fresh udon soup.

Quin N.

Yelp
Mid to be honest. But affordable. The best part about this place were the sides they offered. The noodles were extremely soft and good, but everything was just a bit lacking to my personal preference. I like a stronger flavors and theirs is a bit weak. The tonkotsu was the best one in my opinion. The others are more built for summer with their subtle sweetness. My friend ended up leaving her beef bowl half full. It's not a favorite, but I dont hate it. Overall, I think its up to everybody's personal preferences to see if they like it or not :)

Kayla P.

Yelp
THE BEST UDON. There's always most likely a line but it goes by fast since the ordering process is fast paced. You get to watch them make your udon right in front of you! Your bowl is placed on a tray and given to you then you get to get your own tempura. We ordered a large beef udon ($12.95), large curry nikutama ($15.95), grabbed a shrimp tempura ($2.25) and tamagoyaki ($2.25) then ordered calamansi ($3.35) hawaiian passion fruit punch ($3.50). Everything is a reasonable price and definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

Anne Marie A.

Yelp
So happy this place made its way to Southcenter! We usually visit this place in Oahu whenever we are there. Same thing as there- long line but it goes by fast. Since opening, I think we've been there four times already and it hits the spot. Every. Single. Time. Big perks that with Washington's cold weather, there are heaters outside (which covers outdoor seating) and the line too when it gets busy! My fiancé isn't a big noodle fan and is very picky! He opted to get the chicken teriyaki katsu and he liked it so much, he craves it. I order the tan tan, and I'm glad it's vegetarian and that they offer soy meat. Whenever we dine in, it's pretty packed but they buss your tables for you and the fresh noodles can't be beat.

Harry S.

Yelp
We are avid fans of the amazing Marugame Udon in Waikiki in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the lines are always long with other fellow fans of the chain. When our friends told us that Marugame Udon is coming to Washington, I almost did not believe them because it was too good to be true. I was elated to learn that it was finally here and we decided to make the trip down to Tukwila. We went during a weekday and arrived around 11:30 AM and there was no line. There were many empty tables. Perhaps, the hype died down a little? Perhaps, it was because it's just a Thursday? Either way, we were happy to be able to order right away. We went with the classic Kake Udon and flashy-looking Tantan noodles. We asked for extra green onions on both of the udon bowls. We also picked up a croquette and a chicken tempura on the side. Total came out to about $28 + tip. The front door was propped open and it was cold while dining inside. I was glad I was eating a hot bowl of udon and soup. I think the inside temperature could be a bit higher and better maintained, especially when Seattle temperatures declining rapidly at this time of the year. We were OK with overall food quality. I think I like the Waikiki location better in food quality, ambiance, and service. On a side note, my wife got super sleepy after having lunch here and for us, that usually happens when there's a lot of MSG in the food she ate. We can't know for sure but our suspicion is that MSG is used in their soup, which is not a negative comment at all. I am just stating a fact that happens to her with MSG. So, I will just leave it at that. But I do want to come back to try other items.

Jjay S.

Yelp
I was really excited to hear that Maragume was opening in Seattle! I've heard really great things about the other locations, and was certainly looking forward to this meal. For those familiar with the Seattle area, this place has very similar vibes to U:Don near UW! There was a line that went out the door when I came on a weekend afternoon, but the line itself moves really fast! The restaurant is highly efficient, most of the tables are full when you arrive but the turnaround time is super fast so there shouldn't be a worry about getting seated. In terms of the food, I ordered a large nikutama and some tempura on the side to share with family. For the price of $14, the udon was huge -- it was incredibly filling. I loved the broth, it was flavorful, umami, and seasoned well. The noodles were chewy and had great texture, and everything paired together with the meat and onions that were included. I also really enjoyed the calamansi lemonade. It was bright and refreshing, not overly sweet or artificial! Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the tempura. It was fairly expensive for items I thought were a bit mediocre. The tempura shrimp wasn't anything special, and I was disappointed with the sweet potato as well -- it was cut fairly thick so I found it seemed undercooked. The croquette filling was mostly potato, I was hoping it would include more carrot or corn or anything else, and it tasted bland to me. I would definitely come back for the udon, but I'll likely pass on the tempura next time.

Yelp
Marugame has finally made its way to Washington. I first had Marugame in Hawaii, so it's personally been a long time for me. This location is inside of Southcenter Mall in Tukwila. Even after a few months of opening, there still can be a wait for dine-in depending on what day of the week and what time you decide to go. The wait isn't too bad and staff help speed up the process by wiping down and moving tables to accomodate groups. I went around 5pm on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. While in line, staff brought samples of their calamansi lemonade for people to try, which was effective marketing because I did end up ordering it. If you are planning to do takeout, you can skip the line by going directly inside and ordering from a kiosk tucked inconspicuously next to the drink fountain. You can also order online in advance: https://marugame.thanx.com/marugameudon I've previously tried the Kitsune (not pictured), which has tofu. But this time, I ordered the Nikutama, which has sweet beef and a soft boiled egg. You can order additional toppings or sides, which range from $0.75-$5.65 depending on the item. Marugame is famously known for their udon, but they do have rice bowls if that's your thing. To accompany your noodles or rice, you can also order various tempura and deep fried items like potato croquette, which is my favorite. The Calamansi Lemonade was delicious and refreshing, which I would come to order on its own if I wasn't hungry. In comparison to other udon places in Seattle like U:Don, I don't know if Marugame tastes any better. It's about the same to me.

Hanh N.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday for Lunch & it was not as busy as Grand Opening! The service for ordering went by very quick & there is a self serve utensil/drink/sauce area! Plenty of seating within the restaurant to choose from! I got the Nikutama Udon & a few pieces of Tempura snacks! Great stop for good soup!

Shigeki T.

Yelp
Friend and I had curry nikutama udon there this week. The store is clean and specious. Big space accommodate the customers. The menu is simple and easy to choose from. A few people in front of us but no wait in line when we arrived 11am. I like the ordering process, quick and efficient. You simply get in line and follow the person ahead of you. Udon was great which reminded me of Japan. Soft, nice fat and mochy but not tough chewy or slimy, if that makes sense. The meat/onion juice from the nikutama and the egg yoke went well with the soup

Yelp
For how much hype was around Marugame Udon, I was really excited to try it. The first few bites I thought were good, but I do think this place is overrated/comparable to U:Don on the Ave. It was packed/cafeteria style, so the place was very lively and the process of ordering/getting your food went by quickly. However, I would not go out of my way to come here.

Yelp
I was so excited for Marugame Udon to come to Tukwila! I first tried it in Hawaii, and I loved it so much that I went twice during my week-long trip. Unfortunately, this location does not live up to the standards that I was expecting. I ordered the Kitsune udon. While the broth was fine, I thought the udon was slightly overcooked because they were slightly soggy on the outside and were not as chewy/bouncy as I would have liked. I also got the sweet potato tempura which was extremely dry. While the service is fast, this location does not have nearly as many topping options. Lastly, the seating is very cramped and the inside of the restaurant is very loud due to the volume of people. While it's great to have Marugame Udon as an option, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back because it was not as memorable as I would have liked.

Yelp
Marugame Udon keeps me up at night, thinking about how good the udon is. My friend recommended that we try after they visited the Hawaii location. Our first visit here was a few weeks after the restaurant's grand opening. While there was a good amount of people waiting in line, we made it through the line pretty quickly (15-20 min wait). I ordered the large nikutama bowl for $14, and considering how much broth and udon was in there, I was very happy with the price and portion size. Once we were seated, we quickly went to work. The udon was on point, soft but still had a little bit of a bounce. The broth was light and flavorful. I was happy with the toppings and add-ins, as it paired well with the broth and noodles. The beef was tender, and the egg was cooked to perfection. Overall, super happy with this place and can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
Not too long of a wait to order food. The line moves pretty quick. The main problem is looking for a table after you pay. There is a chance you're holding your food without a table and have to stand around to fight for a table We ordered the beef udon and plain udon, both large. Large bowl is enough to split between a kid and an adult. Even the large beef was enough for one person. I highly recommend just to get regular size and get one or two tempura. Tempura we got: Green beans: it's good but I don't think it's worth the price considering it's $2 more than chicken. Karaage(chicken): get it for the kids, they will love it. They are all the same price so pick the biggest one Shrimp: it's good, not bad but nothing super special about them Zucchini: this one was my favorite, make sure to eat it first since it can cause the outside to be mushy if you leave it until the end of your meal. Service: there is no table side service but they had a male employee that was on the floor helping customer clean their table or find table. He might be the manager, he did a great job making sure the place was turning over quickly. Suggestion, it was pretty hot outside so maybe turn down the ac just a bit. I don't imagine eating here during the summer.

Yelp
My friend got food poisoning from the tempura batter in the egg tempura not being cooked all the way. There were visible lumps of raw flour still in there and that was 3+ hours of pain later in the day :( Food poisoning aside, I love the taste of the dashi broth and the beef is tender, the onions are sweet, and the noodles are chewy. The chicken katsu curry has small chicken pieces, but the taste is good overall! The green bean tempura is my favorite ...no poisoning there, but wish I spoke up to tell the staff that the tempura piece we got was badly cooked instead of just eating it to see what happens :)

Yelp
Went here at 6pm on a Tuesday and there was no line and plenty of open seats available. I wish they structured the inside of restaurant a little better if you're indecisive there's not too much room in between the entrance, menu and where you start your order lol. For the food we got the most popular bowls, the tonkotsu and the nikutama and definitely would recommend both!! The tonkotsu has surprisingly a light creamy porky broth that's not too salty-- which i usually don't like getting because at most places it's too heavy. The nikutama has a good light soy bonito sweet flavor as well. The noodles are nicely dense and have a good chewy fresh texture. I would say a regular bowl would be able to satiate most people if you're getting sides too and you could even share the large size for two. Out the four tempura we got we would recommend the squid and the tamago! The tamago was the star here for sure and was light airy and sweet. The sweet potato was a little too thicc and the shrimp tempura was nice and crispy. We also bought a togarashi mayo to dip the tempura in which was also a great choice. To finish it off we had the calamansi lemonade which was fragrant, tart and not to sweet :) Overall we spent about $41 total with 2 entrees, sides, and a drink so i would say it's pretty good pricing for all of it. This is my second time having Marugame (first time in SF) and I enjoyed it here more for sure. We'll be back for sure whenever we crave udon!!

Yelp
The udon noodles were so soft and thick! The broth was delicious. The employees are so kind and very helpful! Don't worry you'll get a seat! Once you pay for your noodles an employee will find a seat for your party! Parking was easy. It's located on the outside of Southcenter mall.

Yelp
I really liked Marugame in Honolulu so I was very excited that they have opened in the Seattle area! We waited for a couple weeks after opening to avoid crazy lines. We came around 11:30 am on a Saturday and there was a small line but it wasn't bad! We got our food in about 15 minutes in the line. The flavors are perhaps not quite as good as the Hawaii locations but still better than any other udon in the area. I tried the tonkotsu which I don't think the Hawaii locations have and it was pretty good, but I might try something else next time.

Yelp
Been to the one in Hawaii and this is as delicious, but with even more options and more comfortable dining experience. Roomy, colorfully decorated, straightforward dining experience, and smooth service. Oh and the udon and tempuras were satisfyingly good. Must go!

Yelp
Nice udon restaurant to eat at if you're craving it. We got their tonkatsu and nikutama. We got a large. There was A LOT of udon. It was well prepared and good to eat. I definitely recommend getting a regular size. They only gave two pieces of pork for the tonkatsu meal, which I wasn't happy about. For the Nikutama, there was a decent amount of beef. The ambiance of the restaurant was cool. There's a lot of seating and there were cool paintings across the walls. The service here was good. Although the restaurant was packed and we had to wait outside to order our food, it only took about 20 mins and we were able to get a table for ourselves.

Yelp
I was excited to try out this spot since it opened a while back. My first time trying this spot was at Waikiki, the line was long and the food was tasty. This location, it wasn't that busy when I went there. The food were decent. I got the curry udon and couple of the tempura items to pair it with. Overall, I will be back when I'm craving for some tempura and udon!

Yelp
I'm so happy that they brought Marugame to the PNW!! Had it in Oahu, and I've been thinking about it since. I got the Nikutama (Beef Udon) which is the popular one people typically go for. The amounts of beef were plenty, and the broth was light. Noodles were bouncy, and you can't go wrong with their tempura shrimp.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I decided to stop by around 4:30pm after playing some games at Round 1. There was a small line even then, but it went by quickly. I got a regular size Nikutama with a shrimp tempura add-on, gekikara fireball (to make my broth spicy), and a iced calamansi-ade. Overall, I was pleased with pretty much everything about my udon. The noodles were chewy, the broth was warm and flavorful (and tasted even better with the gekikara fireball spice added in), and the beef was delicious. My only complaint would be that I wish I got a little more broth, but maybe that would be a reason for me to get the large instead of the regular next time. The iced calamansi-ade was also completely worth it. I didn't really know what to expect since I don't think I've really had anything calamansi flavored before, but it tasted a lot like yuzu if you've ever had that before. It was very refreshing to drink alongside the hot udon broth. I can see the fast food nature of this restaurant and its long lines turning people off. My recommendation there would just be to come during off-peak hours and to expect a more fast-casual experience rather than a formal sit-down meal. While Marguama doesn't do anything incredibly unique with udon, I would say they get the basics right with how delicious their broth, meat, and noodles are. My girlfriend and I will certainly be back in the future whenever we are in the area.

Yelp
The udon here is really solid! The portions are large and yummy! I like how the udon is freshly made. The prices are extremely reasonable as well. The first time I've had Marukame was in Hawaii and I feel like the Marukame here in Seattle is pretty similar in that both have great and fast service and delicious food! I would say that the wall art brings a fun and hip vibe to this udon shop. I would recommend it to all my friends and would come back again for another delicious bowl of udon!

Yelp
If you're looking for a streamlined udon restaurant come to Marugame Udon. They offer a variety of udon dishes, rice plates and even vegetarian options. Their tempura is wonderful as well; crispy and light, with options like shrimp, egg and veggies that perfectly complement the noodles. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, the staff are friendly, im def coming here again!

Yelp
Perfect umami comes to Seattle! We've had the pleasure of dining at all of Marugame's locations with both in Hawaii, Vancouver BC, and now in Seattle... and their Udon and Tempura always hits the spot! The space is nice and clean and next to the new food joints in south center such as Mr. Dim Sum & Gen KBBQ. We went on a weekday during midday, which had no wait at all! One point down as the broth in the udon was poured a little lower than what we're accustomed to and the price point seemed a bit more expensive than usual.

Yelp
What a surprise that we finally have Marugame here in Washington! The line is long but it goes fast. You can see them making the noodles fresh too. Once you get to the front of the line, make sure you know what you want! I ordered 3 bowls of udon and some tempura. They have a good variety of tempura - calamari, beans, shrimp, squash, zucchini. You pay by the piece too. All in all, it was over $60 for 3 bowls and some tempura. It's a nice little treat but I don't want to be doing this all the time. They place was clean. Kind of hard to find seating. Ended up sitting outside but it has its pros/cons like getting whiffs of gasoline vapors from trucks. It was loud inside though. You can skip the line if you're doing a to-go on their kiosk.

Yelp
The food here was good and the service was fantastic. I had a group of 5 with a child and the server helped us find a table since it was super busy. Everyone was pretty friendly despite it being hectic. I do have a vocal disability and the workers at where you pick your noodles couldn't hear me at all so if you're like me I recommend those to probably bring someone who can speak loudly or find some way to get them to understand you. The restaurant is pretty loud so I wouldn't say it is a calming place. I got the curry nikutama and it was tasty. The meat however was kinda chewy though the udon noodles itself were fantastic. I enjoyed the tempura they served. They were good enough. I do wish it was crispier. I enjoyed the tamago, shrimp, and the green bean best. The chicken was juicy but needed salt. I do still think the Honolulu location is still better but I am happy this location opened up. Hawaii has access to much better Japanese products than Washington I think so this place is satisfactory.

Yelp
I first had Marugame in Tokyo then in Oahu so I was excited to learn that we now have a location in Tukwila! The new location is at the mall by Macys. We were hungry so we got the BK Sauce Nikutama, Tonkotsu, Gyudon, chicken tempura, and Passion Fruit Punch. Everything was delicious but the Nikutama was my favorite! I was surprised by the chicken tempura; it was moist on the inside but sufficiently crunchy on the outside. In terms of the wait time, we got there at 830pm on a weekday and got through the line within 10 minutes! The line moves pretty quickly so don't be scared if you see a line. We'll def be back soon!
