Saturday was a great day for ice cream. After breakfast at Family Corner I headed to 30th Ave to try out the new soft serve ice cream parlor. There is no indoor seating as the place is very small, but there was some outdoor seating curbside. I arrived around 2.30pm and watched the last minute preparations. It seemed to take forever for them to open up as a group of very excited children started clamoring at the window only to find out that the creamery was not open yet! I sat at one of the tables and watched the owner teaching what appeared to be very young employees on how to swirl the ice cream cones, and use the cash register -you can see this in some of the photos here!
Promptly at 3pm the windows were opened and we all made a beeline to the three serving windows. Those of us who showed up first were the first to be served. I ordered a cup with two scoops of mango, strawberry and coconut sprinkles I was served in window one. A longer line began at 3pm and went down most of 37th street. The flavors were delicious, not too sweet and not too soft. I was served in window one.The flavors were delicious, not too sweet and not too soft.
Marvel's scoops come in different size cones and cups. As I was taking lots of photos, I ordered a small cup, Yes, $2.00, not bad.
Marvel's options are displayed on a chalkboard at the back of the parlor. Currently, they were offering a limited number of ice creams which included mango, strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter and vanilla. I think there was a vegan option?
