Mary’s Coin Laundry is a 24/7 Miami staple serving up legendary Pan con Bistec sandwiches alongside your laundry—steak, fries, and vibes done right.
"The Dish: Pan Con Bistec There's an argument to be made that Miami's favorite sandwich isn't the cuban sandwich, but the pan con bistec. And Miami’s best example of a traditional pan con bistec is found at Mary’s Coin Laundry, which is also one of Miami’s best examples of a ventanita. The steak is juicy, the onions are lightly sauteed, and the ketchup and mayo are the literal and metaphorical glue that holds the sandwich together. Open 24 hours (and attached to an actual laundromat), you can get this magnificent pan con bistec at 3am after waking up in a cold sweat because this city is incredibly stressful. Mary’s pan con bistec will make you feel secure again. And help you wash your sheets." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino
"Pan Con Bistec Mary’s Cafe is open 24 hours a day and the building pulls double duty as a laundromat. You won’t have to worry about spilling crumbs on some poor dude’s towels though. The food portion of Mary’s takes place outside on the sidewalk, where a small crowd is usually eating one of Mary’s many sandwiches. Chances are, at least one of those people are eating the pan con bistec, because it’s great and stuffed generously with potato sticks. If you are looking for some late-night food after a long night of doing none of our business, this is what you need." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"If you’re looking for Miami’s best example of a traditional pan con bistec, this is where you should go. The steak is juicy, the onions are lightly sautéed, and the ketchup and mayo are the literal and metaphorical glue that holds the sandwich together. Open 24 hours, you can get this magnificent pan con bistec at 3am after waking up from an apocalyptic nightmare involving conscious pigeons taking over the world. Mary’s pan con bistec will make you feel secure again. And if that scary pigeon dream made you sweat through your pajamas, bring them with you. This place doubles as a laundromat. "If this guide was broken into sub-categories, Mary’s would get “Best Nocturnal Cuban Sandwich.” Do we recommend you prioritize this sandwich over a place like, say, Sanguich? No. But if it’s 2am and your stomach is getting angry, go to Mary’s. The Coral Gables ventanita is open 24/7 and is also attached to a laundromat, so you can entertain yourself with their very solid cuban sandwich while you wait for your towels to dry." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Open 24 Hours There are always people at Mary’s—both because the Cuban cafe is open 24 hours a day and it pulls double duty as a laundromat. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about spilling pastelito crumbs on some poor dude’s towels. The food portion takes place outside on the sidewalk, where a small crowd is eating one of Mary's many sandwiches, which are quite large and usually stuffed with potato sticks. The pan con bistec is a good move, and will leave you extremely ready for bed." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
