Houston’s Best Mediterranean Restaurants | Eater Houston

"This tried-and-true family-owned restaurant is beloved for its comforting dishes made with recipes handed down over generations. Fluffy pita rounds emerge fresh from the oven and pair well with Mary’s irresistible hummus topped with chopped meat. Try its feta or ground beef pies, then indulge in a beef shawarma plate complemented with sides like French fries and baba ganoush." - Brittany Britto Garley

Mary’z – 5 Stars Mary’z is definitely the move—perfect for a chill date night or just a laid-back evening with good food and even better vibes. I came here on a date, and the atmosphere was relaxed, making it easy to focus on conversation and enjoy the night. The service struck the right balance: attentive enough to feel taken care of, but chill enough to let you vibe with your people. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, and trust me—getting a hookah is a must. The flavors were smooth, and nearly every table had one. Some folks were even on laptops, so I could totally see this doubling as a cool remote work spot during the day. Now, the food? So good. I had the chicken kabob meal, and it was juicy, seasoned right, and super filling. I left full and happy, already thinking about what I want to try next time. They offer valet parking or self-parking in the back, so you’ve got options from the moment you pull up. Start to finish, this place delivered and gave me a reason to come back. Put it on your list.

Mary’z is delicious Lebanese/Mediterranean. Each time I’ve gone recently I’ve order the Mixed Grill. The meat is tender and cooked well. The sides are fresh and appetizing. My friends and I ordered Fatoush, spicy potatoes, fries, & fried cauliflower. The meal was served with fresh pocket pita that was so good. Our servers have been kind and informative. When planning your outing, just be prepared to pay to park or valet. The lot is a reasonable amount. The managers are kind and responsive to questions, concerns, & service. You can tell that decor, cleanliness, and orderliness of the restaurant is important to the management/owners.

Beautiful place. Tranquil environment with different sections. Lots of options depending on the vibe you’re feeling for the night. The food is fresh and delicious. The outdoor patio is perfect for enjoying hookah, conversation and a delicious meal. My new fav spot. Will definitely be back! 10/10.

Came here for my boyfriend birthday dinner and it was fantastic. Service was great and very accommodating. The food was also amazing!

We visited Mary's Mediterranean Cuisine at 7 PM and called ahead to reserve a table. However, we later learned that if you're in the non-smoking section, reservations aren’t needed after 5 PM. We were seated at a table for six. Food Review: 1. Baba Ganoush – Good, smooth, and well-seasoned. 8/10 2. Marie’s Hummus – Creamy, flavorful, and one of the best hummus dishes we've had. 9/10 3. Fattoush – Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. It lacked key ingredients like pomegranate molasses and sumac, making it far from authentic. 1/10 4. Muhammara – Perfectly balanced, rich, and delicious. 9/10 5. Stuffed Grape Leaves – Fresh, well-seasoned, and flavorful. 10/10 6. Fried Cauliflower with Tahini – Absolutely delicious, crispy, and well-paired with the sauce. 10/10 7. Chicken Liver – Cooked perfectly, full of flavor. 9/10 8. Bread – Fresh, warm, and amazing. 10/10 9. Tabbouleh – Well-balanced and refreshing. 10/10 10. Arak – Decent, but nothing special. 7/10 11. Makanek (Lebanese sausages) – Well-spiced. 9/10 12. Fried Kibbeh – Crispy outside, flavorful inside. 9/10 The staff was great—friendly, smiling, and attentive, which added to the positive experience. However, the valet parking was $10 cash or 12.5 credit card, which felt excessive for no apparent reason. Most of the food was great, and we would have given it 5 stars if not for the disappointing fattoush. It really needs key ingredients to be considered an authentic version of the dish. Overall, though, the experience was great, and we’d come back!

Google
A solid 5 star. From the valet all the way to the people who brought the hookah to the waiter. The food is delicious the juices and fresh and top quality. I highly recommend this place.

Very disappointed from the start, I invited a friend to try Mary's Mediterranean Cuisine and before to enter the restaurant and guy from the valley parking ran into me after I parked in the back and wanted me to pay for the parking. I haven't been in any restaurant that requires to pay for parking to do business with. I will understand if I use the valley but I parked the car myself and walked in. Then we were sitting and the ceiling start dripping water on us. We had Shawarma wrap and its not good as it used to be.

Whao... This is a first for me, I've never been to a restaurant with good food but such horrible service that we won't be coming back Started with the foul madamas and fresh bread....to die for, seasoning was perfect. A nice blend of olive oil and lemon juice Cabbage rolls were good but slightly under seasoned for my taste. We arrive and no not see the "seat yourself" sign. We we are at the front waiting for a host and 3 employees walk by and say nothing We are seated and ready to order. The wait time was a little long for the number of patrons but not the end of the world. Waiter asks if the two ppl ...two tables down are in our party...why? How? Do we look alike? We have two wrapped half sandwiches left over as I turn to talk to the waiter the bus lady clears the table and takes out sandwiches away...so much for take home Buyer beware...tip at 15% is included...no wonder the service is the way it is...

Yelp
Mary'z is one of the best hookah spots and chill vibes to relax and have a drink in Houston but customer service needs improvement. It took over 15 minutes just to get my order and even a glass of water when they were not at full capacity and saw me sit down. You can't beat the prices for the hookah and drinks but the wait times are not ideal and need improvement.

Yelp
It has been a while I haven't been to Houston. In the past I used to go to the other Mary'z location which used to be so authentic and the closest to Lebanese food we cook at home. We were staying at the Galleria and I decided to bring friends with me and check out this location. The food is really good compared to Lebanese food I get in San Antonio... it isn't the same like it used to be in the past. Now it is more Mediterranean to cater to the American palate. Don't get me wrong the food is still good but it lost the touch of homemade. The service was prompt fast and the waitress was really friendly and helpful The ambiance became like another hookah joint. We sat inside but seems outside is dedicated for smoking hookah. I didn't go out to check it out Will I be back? Maybe! My expectations aren't high like they used to be

Yelp
Have driven by this place for many years as I live in the area(st george place) .... A friend was back in town and suggested here. Tucked away so can easily pass or miss the entrance.. 10$ valet I'm unsure if self parking is available. Beautiful luxury cars valeted from rolls Royce's to lambo's to rovers and plenty g wagons. They have indoor and outdoor seating there is a hookah allowed inside and it was a bit too smoked out for me luckily they do have a inside side that no hookah is allowed I was thankful as it was a little too warm outside for me. Was seated easily as it was about 945pm on a Monday evening. I went for the Caesar salad with grilled salmon and let me tell you that was by far the BEST tasting grilled salmon I have ever tasted !! Was juicy seasoned to perfection definitely can't wait to order that again. I will def be back ! My companion had the exact same dish and was equally impressed and gushed over the taste !! Good job chef

Yelp
I hadn't been to Mary'z in a while, so I decided to stop by for some hookah and food with friends. There's a charge whether you valet or self-park. Inside, there is some mood lighting, greenery, and some of Instagrammable spots. Along with the chill ambiance, the service was a bit slow. I ordered the flatbread trio. The cheese flatbread was warm and gooey. The zaatar flatbread had that tangy, herbal flavor you'd expect, perfectly balanced with the spices. The beef flatbread, however, didn't quite hit the mark for me; it had a slight sweetness that I wasn't a fan of. Personally, I prefer the sausage option!

Yelp
This was my second time at Mary'z but my first time at this location. I came with a friend on a Friday evening at 8:30PM. You have to valet your car as there doesn't appear to be self parking and it was $12. The ambiance is very nice. There were three separate rooms: a main dining area that seemed a tad bit more formal, a patio that was more casual and a third room that seemed like a combination of a dining room and a patio. We sat on the patio and while it was a bit humid they had a fan blowing over us so that was greatly appreciated. We ordered the beef Kebabs, lamb chops, and it came with a side of pita/ hummus and a salad. I enjoyed my lamb chops and the kebabs were okay, only problem is we ordered them to be cooked medium but then came nearly well done. I was okay with the lamb chops but we did have them remake the kebabs. I wasn't a fan of the pita bread and hummus to be honest. It didn't taste like your standard pita bread and the hummus had an unusual aftertaste to it. I also ordered a lavender drink but it did not taste like lavender lol no biggie though. I still finished it. We also ordered a love 66 hookah and it was fantastic. It pulled very smooth and lasted a while. Overall I think the service was okay, not the best but not the worst.

Yelp
Best HH spot ever! I love to come here to get my work done after hours and enjoy a nice meal with cheap/good hookah. Service is fast and friendly. Ambiance is a nice chill vibe with easy/light conversation. I love Mary'z real baddddd.

Yelp
I go here for the hookah, the hookah is very affordable , and the customer service here is also very good.

Yelp
A friend of mine mentioned Mary'z to me a couple of weeks ago. She mentioned it had a nice mid-day vibe for those who want to get some work done, chill, and do hookah. At the spur of the moment, after partaking in taco Tuesday and another spot, I decided to check out the night vibe and I truly enjoyed it. The service, atmosphere, snacks, and hookah were on point. I also noticed they have a nice patio and a second level. I will certainly return.

Yelp
This is honestly my number one favorite place for Lebanese food! It never fails to impress. I always have to get the grilled lamb chop--it's perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The deluxe mixed grill is a must-try, packed with a variety of delicious flavors. I can't get enough of the roasted potatoes and vermicelli rice; they complement the main dishes beautifully. And let's not forget the labneh--it adds such a creamy, tangy touch. The sausage here is unique, too! The service is really good, making every visit feel special. Plus, the interior is cute and inviting, creating a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a meal. If you're looking for an authentic and satisfying Lebanese experience, this is the spot to visit!

Yelp
The staff here are always nice. One of the waitresses even stopped to chat with us and ask us why we weren't with our boyfriends. Lol (I guess we're the problems ) The food is always awesome. Its not loud and you can smoke your hookah/cigars in peace. The lights at night are an added bonus for a great quiet vibe.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in a while, but my friend visited from out of town and had a dinner gathering there. As I entered the parking, a valet attendant stopped me. There was no such thing as free self parking. What? I could park on my own and pay $7, or have him park my car for $10. Excuse me? Since when did Mary'z begin charging folks who are coming to dine in their establishment to park? So each of my friends and I had to pay to park. Some of them had paid $10 to self park. The valet attendant could rarely speak English. And he was not clear why you pay $10 to self park. I paid $7. I asked to speak to a manager. Mary'z is contracting a parking service. Why? This area of town is not ritzy nor is it Downtown to be charging for parking. Unfortunately, you can't park on Richmond Ave. to avoid this fee. At least the manager said my friends who paid $10 would get a $3 refund. Now as to the food. ..I ordered a vegetarian sandwich with cauliflower. It's good. It has tahini sauce and pickled turnips. I was still hungry and ordered fava beans. They're tasty and the presentation is great. However, I find that $10 for that amount of beans is overpriced. So for a veggie sandwich, beans and parking, I paid a total of $31.63. At least our waitress, Maria N, only included a 15 percent tip on our bill. She was nice. As long as I have to pay for parking, I won't be returning.

Yelp
Not gonna elaborate...got the after dinner hookah going now, but the food was great-love the cuisine! Best to do samplers and tapas, so you can really get the full scope. We ordered: Beef Shawarma Sandwich, Cabbage Rolls, Kibbi, Mixed Grill, Roasted Eggplant, hummus with Schwartz and ground beef, flatbread with cheese and sausage (like a delicious pizza), pita pockets, house salads, cucumber and yogurt... certain I forgot something, but, you get the picture. Nice little spot for groups, for dates, families, getting some work done (with the hookah, lol), and just a chill vibe. They've got rooftop seating in both the front and back, so lots of choices. The indoor dining area reminds you a bit of a greenhouse... Will return. The Heights location is great too!
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Parking is valet only ...enter a narrow driveway before Drip car wash. $10 valet cash. Upon entering, you can smell the hookah and the delicious food wafting through the restaurant. We sat in the roomy back patio with partial roof and heaters. Service was awesome, fast and friendly. My friend had a hookah. We had our kids but we sat on the patio so it was ok. We ordered the cheese pita bread (cheese pizza) , baba ganoush, and a mixed meat platter. Everything was delicious. Definitely love the food. Especially the garlic sauce. Didn't like the only valet option.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this establishment. I can't say enough about the food. It was absolutely amazing! Will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
i absolutely love lebanese food. Every single food item i tried was amazing. ambiance was very welcoming, felt like I was at my ex girlfriend's grandmas place. The service was pretty good as well. Will definitely be back when i come to houston

Yelp
1 of the best spots to try around town! I've been a avid supporter of theirs since they first opened & just love it. The ambiance, food, music & service are always phenomenal! Since they renovated it's a lot better & more spacious. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
I am quite disappointed. I remember this place being good but it was TERRIBLE! RUN!!! It took our server 5 minutes to get to the table another 10 minutes for the drinks and another 10 minutes on top of that for the food. I only ordered a salad, grape leaves and a pickled plate. Honestly I won't even get into detail about the food because it was straight trash! The prices are outrageous, the food is mediocre and the service is horrible. How is this place still in business!!!
google avatar

Consuelo I.

Yelp
Excellent service. Delicious food. Amazing selection of cocktails. Chill vibe. Great hookah. Highly recommend. Note: you have to pay for self-parking. Valet too.
google avatar

Omer K.

Yelp
Okay place, decent food but a bit on the pricier side based on their wines and entree prices. Most annoyingly, why would you not offer a complimentary parking space and charge for even self parking on a Tuesday night? Definitely not going back just like many others. No wonder why this place had barely 2 other tables
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
I came here with my Jordanian friend on her recommendation; however, we both left disappointed in the quality of the food. My friend was especially disappointed; she used to love this place, and she said the quality's gone down. Also did I mention that parking is valet-only and $10? Hummus: 0/5, it tasted so plastic-y and artificial. Like some really bad grocery store hummus. I usually love hummus, but I didn't touch this after my initial bite. Halloumi cheese: 4/5. It's hard to mess this one up, but there was nothing special about it. Fattoush salad: 5/5. I would definitely get this again. The dressing was delicious, and the pita chips were perfectly crispy and seasoned. Beef Shawarma Plate: 4/5. The beef was fine, and I was hungry so I ate it. It was nothing special though. The best part of this dish was the rice -- that was special, it had a hint of sweetness and a great texture. Chicken Kabob plate: 2/5. The chicken was so dry and flavorless. Didn't touch this after my first bite. Overall, I would not come back here. There's plenty of Mediterranean places in Houston, you're better off going somewhere else.

Yelp
Uhhh-mazingggggg... I whole heartedly recommend this restaurant! This was a new experience for me all together. Ok so from the beginning.. parking is valet only! Let me rephrase that. Friendly cheap $7 valet only parking. Table is recommended to reserve. We reserve for 7 people outside patio seating. (Smoking is outside only/$10 hookah) Ok, now we at the table with menus... right! I never had any of this stuff but French fries lmbo. Everything was new to me. We ordered lamb chops, fries, hummus, rosemary quail and a butter herb rice. I have no complaints! Food was full of spices and it was delicious. Side note: ask for a mint lemonade!!!!! It looks like a green bean smoothie (I know gross huh) but it's goooooooooooooooooood
google avatar

Truvae D.

Yelp
Nice chill spot to grab drinks, food, and/or Hookah. I ordered a Margarita and a blueberry mint hookah. My margarita was okay, too much mix or syrup was used but it was strong! The hookah was made perfectly because a lot of times the mint can be over powering.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
My favourite hookah spot in Houston!!! Drinks are great, prices are even better!! Love their lamb chops and shawarma. Mary'z never disappoints!!!!
google avatar

Daezha B.

Yelp
Mary'z was pretty good! The food was great and tasted (mostly) authentic, and the decor was super cute which was an added bonus. I ordered the lamb chop appetizer with a side of rice. The accompanying sauce was great, however, I wish the lamb chops didn't have such a charred taste. The cocktails were on the stronger side, and cutely presented (my lemon drop came in a tin cup...very sassy). If you're into hookah, they have that as well.

Yelp
So I want to start this by saying the stars that I'm giving is based on the service. I enjoyed my food and second server. I had no issues there. So my friend and I went to eat dinner and catch up. You sit yourself and I am really sad I picked the table I did. It initially took more than 5 minutes for us to get greeted by the actual server. The lady came by and gave us water and another waiter came by to say hello and that I server would be with us. He would've waited on us but would've caused issues because we weren't in his section. AS a former server I understood and waited. After a few more minutes we were greeted by our server. I order the London mule and famous salad and kibbi. I did not like my drink-- it was too watery. I then proceeded to order my meal-- the mix grill. This is where it all goes down---- I didn't read. It was my mistake and I literally told the waiter this. I wanted the salad to be included as one of the sides and could I change it. I do not know her name but the waiter looks like she has gotten some plastic surgery to her lips. I asked her could she see if I could take it off but her whole mood was off. I did not like it and decided to cancel the meal and just take the salad as is. THIS LADY BEGAN TO GO QUESTION WHY I CANCELLED MY MEAL AND REPLACEMENT DRINK. I told her because I wanted to and then she proceeded to ask me why. Then she said I was giving her attitude when I kept telling her because I decided to. Now verbatim I told her. I chose to do what I wanted because I want to and that the discussion was over. She left never to be seen again. In all my years serving I never was confrontational with a patron. She was rude and it wasn't just us. When I was leaving another woman said the same thing. She had just parked her car and was leaving no less than 10 minutes from arriving due to the rude service of the same woman. I told the manager he needs to get her in line because she is going to cost them business. He said he had spoken to her but we all know how that goes. My fatoush and kibbi was awesome. The salad was fresh and crispy and the kibbeh was seasoned to perfection. I will probably not be back because of my experience. If I had a different server initially, I think my experience would've been totally different.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Upon arrival, valet stand greeted us and asked if we wanted to valet our car. When we declined, they proceeded to state self parking was $7. This was not how it was done in the past and for the scale of restaurant this shouldn't be a requirement. When entering the restaurant we were not greeted and there was no hostess to seat you. Not sure why we are being asked to pay for self parking with no alternatives.
google avatar

Rachael L.

Yelp
Cabbage rolls and grape leaves were our top favorites. My boys liked their chicken shawarma's. My hubbie and I got the lamb and beef shawarma and it was dry. Needed some sauce or something more for flavor. For dessert we had the ice cream baklava and that was very tasty! Will definitely come back when we are in town again!
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
Eh. This was my first time coming here. We asked for patio seating when we arrived at nearly 11p. They said we couldn't sit outside because there was a party whose time was up at 10pm. Yeah didn't make sense to me either. We sat uncomfortably inside for 15 mins and then they came back and said we could sit outside. We only had drinks and maybe that's the reason our server wasn't attentive because we didn't order hookah. He was actually rude and never came to check on the table. Lastly, forced valet. You'll have to pay $10 because there is nowhere else to park. Their hookah prices are good but I don't see myself coming back here because there's hookah on every block in Houston.
google avatar

Mauricio A.

Yelp
Bottom line up front: Overpriced, regular quality food, sub-par service, and outrageous self-parking fee ($10). Food: Overpriced, small portions, and the baklava was stale (couldn't finish) Service: Slow with little enthusiasm. Waiter and waitress argue in front of customers. Ambiance: The place looks nice but I was seated in the food court section of the restaurant (internal non-smoking) which was not as nice. Additionally, they charge $10 for parking.

Yelp
Quick recap: - Food: Really Good - Portion size: Average - Service: Table Service, Nice staff - Environment: Modern - $: Medium/High - Perks: Hookah bar too More details: Went there for a dinner. We had a lot of different meals, sides and entrees. From labneh and hummus ($6.95 each), tabboule ($7.95), cucumber and yogurt ($6.95), babaganoush ($6.95), french fries ($7.95). All the entrees were really good. For the main we had kafta kebab ($17.95) and mixed shawarma ($19.95) with a fattouch salad ($8.95). Everything was really good. The lebanese bread (very thin flat bread) was really good. Absolutely loved the food The staff was nice and it came out fast. A bit expensive, but definitely the extra dollars compared to other Lebanese restaurants in the area! :)

Yelp
Can't comment on the service because we did take-out, but I will say that the man on the phone was patient and helpful. I've had Mediterranean food dozens of times, but I think this is my first specifically Lebanese meal. Due to our own poor timing, the food was basically cold by the time we started eating, and we reheated a few items. That the food was still delicious despite not being "fresh out the kitchen" was evidence that the fare from Mary'z is well-made and packed with flavor. In terms of small plates, the Tabuli (citrusy and herbaceous salad) was crunchy and refreshing, the Hummus was thick and rich, but the Baba Ghannouj was my personal favorite with a heavily smoky taste. The little pita pockets were airy, fluffy, and perfect for dipping. Aside from those Mediterranean staples, we also tried Sujok, a kind of spiced cured sausage, and the Mary'z Sampler, which was an assortment of Falafel, stuffed grape leaves, and fried goodies. The sausage had a slightly tough texture, but the sourness and mild heat paired well with the mushy tomatoes and lemon. The sampler tray had a lot of delicious doughy pockets filled with mince meat and veggies, along with more familiar options -- not a bad deal for $14. For our larger plates, we opted for two varieties of Flat Bread and marinated chicken and lamb kebabs. All were excellent. The flat breads were like mini pizzas, but with the crunchy crust replaced by a soft and chewy pita-like dough. The Jebne, topped with Mozzarella and a salty Levantine cheese called akkawi, was a big hit. I also savored the Lahm Bel Ajeen flat bread, which was topped with minced beef that had a slightly sweet and complex flavor. The Lamb Meshwe and Shish Tawook were both super tasty and surprisingly tender, particularly the chicken. The cilantro and a splash of lemon further accentuated the charred elements. Enjoyable meal overall, and reasonably priced for the quantity!

Yelp
I arrived kind of late so the kitchen was closed but The lounge is a nice vibe kind of an upscale feel, if you drive down Richmond you probably wouldn't see if even though it's on Richmond kind of feels like a low key spot definitely would come back at an earlier time.

Kristine B.

Yelp
HORRIBLE service!! I had to sit myself. The pita bread was dry and cold. After I specifically asked for it to be fresh and hot. The hummus was tasteless. Once the waiter left my table he NEVER returned. I literally had to flag down another waiter to ask for service. I eventually just asked for my tab and left.It was not worth trying to order anything else. Clearly they do not care about their customers. I only have 1 star because I couldn't post this review otherwise

Yelp
It was good. It wasnt anything unique to make me return. The waitress was nice. For a small mom and pops place... pops didnt say a word to us. Nor did what looked like to be his kids. Wasn't a warm and friendly establishment like other Lebanese restaurants. Honestly, the food at Fadis is better...

A A.

Yelp
Food experience was terrible for me... both Shawerma is a big no, the sauce in the chicken shawarma smells like expired.. meat shawarma was dry.. falafel was crispy from outside soft inside but taste like ready mixture.. (the meat vine leaves was tasty & good), the server insisted its only 3 pcs while the menu says its6 then it was 6 as per the menu ‍ Then we asked for 1 extra tahini not sure why we had 3.. not to mention that they forgot to bring it at first till we asked again.. Moreover we got Babaganoj while we did not order it, they didn't charge us for the order but no one knows why its served Finally we ordered home made ice cream then when it was the time for serving the dessert they informed us that they do not have it anymore... On the other hand, the place is really nice not like other Arabic restaurant,, also to be mentioned there is a waitress her name I believe is Jacki she was beyond kind, she cares to the most and trying her best to make everything more than perfect

Adam M.

Yelp
I thought the food was very good. The bread was tasty and warm. I really like the the eggplant dish very good

Kadin C.

Yelp
I'm Lebanese and grew up eating Lebanese food and this is the best I've ever had hands down ‍ also the service was impeccable and all the staff is very kind it is very nice and clean inside and everything is fresh and I was served quick. I really love this place and will fly back to Houston just to eat here !!

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a glass of wine and smoke hookah. Food is delicious! They have a second floor for private events that has an amazing view. Great service! They only downfall is that there's only valet parking. Be ready to pay cash for parking.

Yelp
Off Richmond in the uptown/galleria area it's a great spot to hit up after a day of tiring shopping at the mall. On weekends (friday, saturday, sunday) it is valet only for parking. $5 when you pick up your car; not a complimentary tip only service like many other places. It's not really possible to avoid the valet; I went around back to find somewhere to park for free but you wouldn't be able to walk through to Mary'z from the back. Once you walk inside there's a hostess directly ahead and two rooms on either side; to the right is a bit darker and grungy looking (I suspect this is where you are to smoke hookah if you so wish) and to the left is a brighter area with an open kitchen and lovely modern industrial lighting. Mary'z Sampler Many of these were still frozen at the center. They are clearly frozen already cooked and then reheated afterwards. I wasn't concerned about food safety since they were cooked in advance, but it did make it a bit odd to bite into something warm but cold in the center. The seasoning and flavor, though, were absolutely amazing. Fries - I wouldn't recommend these. They come with regular ketchup and don't have any particular seasonings. McDonald's would be better honestly (well, in the sense that they would be the same but cheaper). Pies - the cheese pies are to die for. The beef are also very lovely; the spinach are bit sour and weren't really to my liking. They're rather large in size and will fill you up very easily with 2 or 3 pies. Tea Pot - a bit pricey at $8 for a pot of tea but you do get several glasses worth of tea for the pot. Cheese & Sujok Flatbread LOVELY. Just the right amount of sujok (rather small crumbles) but throughout the pizza so that every bite gets a flavor smash of the sujok. The cheese is rich and not too oily. The pizza crust is pretty thin but goes very well with the cheese and sujok combination. The makeup is actually round like a pizza and is probably ~12 inches; a great steal for just around $8. Service is sparse but friendly.

Yelp
If I could leave negative stars I would. First the mandatory valet parking and no other options for parking .This was our first time patronizing this place .Coming in we were greeted and seated with no problem. The menu was very informative and the waitress wasn't really any help. She barely checked on our table but for others they had her full attention. We had to flag her down a few times. We even had to tell her to bring the check. The most ridiculous thing was when she came back quickly with the bill and demanded we pay gratuity. I've never been to a place that made customers tip without automatically adding gratuity on the bill. That's extortion. Then we agreed to pay the tip she still came back with change. Like ma'am you just made us pay your tip and you didn't even take it . Upon leaving she literally argued why we didn't leave a tip and that's how she got paid lmaooo. Well we couldn't tell they way she ignored us the whole time. Very unprofessional. Mandatory valet and tip?! Never coming back. Good lucksShawarma

Yelp
Totally agree with the reviews regarding their valet strategy. If you're going to mandate a fee for valet (with no other parking options), please make sure your staff knows how to properly tracks car keys. We got asked multiple times which car was ours after paying and handing them our ticket. 10 minutes later after we asked where our car was, he said he couldn't locate the keys (and wasn't even apologetic) so we literally had to open and look through each of the key drawers to identify our keys. This is a borderline scam. Service during the actual time at our table was also very poor. Our waiter hadn't checked on us 40 minutes after ordering and had been waiting for our items to come. The only redeeming factor this place has is the ambiance after the renovation and good food.

Yelp
Rethink your valet strategy. It is extremely disappointing that the manager would use the excuse that we are in a dangerous area and that valet is the ONLY option. There are plenty of lebanese food/restaurant in the galleria and there are plenty more in midtown/heights Houston that doesn't force people to use valet. Look at El Tiempo Cantina which has supre valet parking and they charge ZERO dollar! They ran to get more car and got my car fast, and I would tip them. But never did they force me to pay them. What is even more shady is that they didn't even tell me upfront that there is a $5 charge neither did they give me any other option. They make me wait a long time even though there was barely any body in the restaurant. So like I say... for the sake of your restaurant, make the valet complimentary with tip optional. That's the way to do it. And please if you are going to respond with a smart comment about why the valet needs to charge $5, you can save it. How was the food? I honestly thought it was good until I got choke by the valet asking me for $5 before he would get my car. So not good enough for me to come back with this kind of service. We will just go to Cafe Layal and Fadi's instead.

Yelp
From the beautiful, classy decor to the attentive and friendly service and amazing amazing flavorful food...My fiancé is Lebanese and I'm Persian so I've been surrounded by middle eastern food all my life. We currently live in Southern California and let me tell you, I have yet to come across a Lebanese/Middle Eastern restaurant like this. Every single dish we tried was mouth watering and packed with so much flavor, I can't even tell you which dish was my favorite. All of the food is fresh and you can tell it's authentic. I could eat their fattoush every day with each of my meals or as a meal alone it's so good. We went on a weekday so there was no valet, like most people seem to comment on in the reviews. Having to pay for valet, however; has and would never deter me from delicious, authentic food. Can't wait to go back to Houston just so we can eat here again.

Yelp
First time here. The renovations are beautiful thought I don't know what it looked like before. No hostess so we were asked to seat ourselves. We ordered the potato's for an appetizer with lemon and garlic. I ordered the Beef and Lamb Shawarma Sandwich was was filled with interesting type of pickles and tomatoes. I ordered a side of fries. The table appetizer bread was delicious and I ended up opening the shawarma and eating it with that bread with the garlic sauce. Service was slow as my ice tea glass was left empty on the table and had to ask for refills, though it wasn't busy but it looked like the waiters may have served both sides of the restaurant since it was divided between hookah bar and the side we were sat. Looks like valet $7 is also required considering their small parking lot Thursday through Sunday. Seemed unnecessary since the restaurant wasn't busy at all.

Yelp
So my friend and I came here for dinner and some hookah on a Saturday night at 8 so it wasn't too packed when we arrived. I heard that this place had burnt down and then later rebuilt/revamped. It was my 1st time at Mary's and when you walk in it is very cute place.. Super trendy and the decoration is very modern. I definitely loved the vibe. In the beginning our waitress was very tentative and on top of her game. As the night went on we couldn't find her at all and could see she was overwhelmed with waiting on too many tables on different ends of the restaurant. It was very hard to get anyone over towards 11:00 p.m. I think that they need to get more people on the floor.. especially on the weekend. I ordered the mixed sharma sandwich with fries and and a vanilla iced coffee. I also ordered the new hookah flavor and I think it was called fruity gummy?? 5 stars for the sandwich. Spot on. Fries weren't the greatest, iced coffee was sooooo sweet and the hookah was not good. Very loud and overcrowded. Definitely should have sat outside maybe. The valet and parking situation was overwhelming... terrible set up. Very jammed since the exit is where the entrance is. Would come back on a week day when it's not overwhelmingly crowded.

Yelp
I love coming to this place for their good hookahs, tea, beef pies, & chill vibes. Cute spot for photos & dates. Good service too. There's no parking available just valet only. Valet is $5 I believe.

Yelp
I've been a number of times and this place is always a good time if you want to have a chill time and smoke hookah with your friends. Service - overall the service is okay. When they get busy, it does get a bit hard for the staff to keep up with their tables but they are really nice. I'm not sure if valet is a separate company or not but sometimes those men can be really reckless with peoples cars... i saw one of the employees speeding in a customers car i the parking lot - not realizing the customer was still standing outside. I just wish they would be more careful of that. Food- I don't normally come here for the food but when I do eat, it's pretty good. The last time I ate here, I had a beef shawarma with fries Drink- usually drink water when I'm there but their cocktails are pretty good and/or strong. I got their version of an old fashion once and barely could finish it (Drink-1 Kehmia-0). They did start offering a special where a bottle of house wine and hookah is $20 (maybe they've been doing that, i don't know) which is kinda nice for date night. Hookah- very smooth and the servers are really attentive to you if you need any help with the shisha or coals.

Yelp
This place apparently burnt down and has been renovated. Looks very nice and sleek now. The service though is an absolute disaster. It took awhile for the waiteress to get our food to us. We had ordered the shish tawook. Very average tasting. The blueberry mint hookah was okay. And I can understand why the prices on the menu are much higher, someone has to pay for the renovations. We waited literally for 45 mins to get our checks even after requesting our waitress for it 5 times. She seemed overwhelmed. The manager came to us asking if we needed anything, after which We reiterated that we needed our check. After 5 more minutes I walked inside to go get my check, paid and left. Never ever coming back here again.
