Best Restaurants in London Marginal Seat Harrow East | Eater London

"Bigger and busier than Mazar, Masa is usually only at a third capacity until it opens up for huge Afghan weddings. Mantoo here are decent versions of the never-spelled-the-same-way, pan-central Asian dumplings; but better are aashak filled with chopped leeks and topped with yoghurt and chilli oil. The true test is the simple bara, a lamb kebab, which Masa passes with flying colours, interspersing well grilled lean meat with crispy parcels of fat." - Jonathan Nunn

What Are the Best Restaurants to Visit in London this Weekend? | Eater London

"A larger Afghan restaurant on Headstone Drive offering a broad, authentic menu; highlights include mantoo (pan‑Central Asian dumplings), aashak filled with chopped leeks topped with yoghurt and chilli oil, and a standout bara lamb kebab that balances well‑grilled lean meat with crisp parcels of fat. The cooking leans homely and satisfying, making it a good stop to combine with the neighbouring Afghan spot for a full‑day food crawl." - Jonathan Nunn

Visited Masa for my first experience with Afghan cuisine and was thoroughly impressed. We ordered the Challow Kabab Kobeda (lamb and chicken) and the Chicken BBQ—both were delicious. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the service was efficient throughout. Highly recommended.

The two of us ordered the Mix Kebab, Qabili Palow, and Mantoo. The highlights for me were the lamb chops from the Mix Kebab and the Mantoo. The Qabili Palow came with a generous lamb shank and a side of lentils, and the portion was quite large. Altogether, we spent just under £50, but the food was easily enough for three people. I’ll be coming back again for the Mantoo and to try the rest of the menu :D

I recently booked Masa restaurant for a party, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The customer service was exceptional—staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating to every detail of our event. The food was absolutely top-tier, with every dish prepared beautifully and packed with flavor. The atmosphere made it even better: warm, vibrant, and perfect for both celebrations and casual gatherings. Whether you’re hosting a party or simply looking for a great place to enjoy an amazing meal, I highly recommend Masa restaurant. It exceeded all expectations!

Masa Restaurant is truly a hidden gem! From the warm welcome to the incredible food, everything was top-notch. The mixed grill was packed with flavor—perfectly grilled, juicy, and tender. The jumbo prawns were an absolute standout—so fresh and full of smoky, charred goodness! Every dish I tried was amazing, from the chapli kabab to the lamb shoulder and mantu. And let’s not forget the Afghani falooda and sheeryak—the perfect sweet ending to the meal! The owner and staff were incredibly welcoming, making the experience even better. It’s no surprise this place has been around for 17 years and is award-winning! If you’re looking for authentic Afghani food in London, you HAVE to try Masa. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Masa is famous in the local Afghan community for offering the ubiquitous Afghan "kebâb-e-charbî" - the 'kebab with fat' - consumed all over Afghanistan and South Asia, but very rare elsewhere due to the lack of cultivated fat-tailed sheep ('dunba') and their delicious and soft natural fats. Therefore it is highly commendable you try this Afghan kebab experience here. The other foods - like Qabuli Pulao, Ashak, Mantoo etc are good as well. Staff are very friendly and hospitable. It's an unpretentious place, very popular on Saturdays and has an in-demand takeaway and delivery business. Sit in if you can!

Yelp
MASA located in a drab surbuban precint of Harrow is quite amazing when you first walk into it. Inside below in the basement it has a big chandelier, shiny tiled flooring, heavy wooden furniture, satellite television and a scatter cushion area for the taking of tea. The food they serve is really fabulous-almost a combination of mixed marriage between the best of the Middle-East and Pakistani cuisines. There is a large variety of Balkan salads, fluffy rice and hot breads to choose from. For an unusual and different taste go I chose the Mantoo Pasta dumplings filled with minced lamb and sweetly flavoured onions done in a Lamb and split-pea sauce; or go for a tangy dish like Bourani-e-Afghani(a tangy Moussaka like dish made from Aubergines with Tomato sauce. These were accompanied by side dishes of Chick-Peas and new Potatoes in a minty relish. To finish of the meal we had some really good coffee and desserts like ice-cream,Bakalava or Feerni( a smooth rose-water scented pudding). The service was attentive yet distant all delivered by waiters slinkly dressed in black.

Yelp
Ignore the person who posted the negative review as they are just flat out wrong! Me and my family consider this restaurant the "hidden gem" of harrow and wealdstone. The food is absolutely incredible and I can honestly say it's in my top 3 favourite places to eat ever! When we first started going in there we felt the usual customers ,and maybe even staff ,disliked us as we would bring our own alcohol ( which is allowed of course) as it's an afghan restaurant with a predominantly Muslim custom. However the food was so exceptional we just had to keep coming back and back, and now the staff know us and are all extremely friendly ,and often ask us how we are and engage in light conversation. The starters are all delicious and the mains are all cooked perfectly. I recommend this place to all my friends and have yet to hear anyone not enjoy it immensely! Bottom line EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT! !! You will not regret it ;)

Yelp
Went to Masa on the back of a review in a Timeout but I was not impressed. The location is very poor and it is difficult tp park. The Hygeine put me off the food as i saw a waiter pick his teeth and not wash his hands. The food was very fatty and I would not recommend going out of your way to visit this place. I was unwell the same night and was hardly surprised.
