13 Spots to Stock Up on Tamales in the East Bay

"A drive to Point Richmond is rewarded at Masa with 11 types of tamales including four vegetarian options and two dessert tamales (don’t miss the strawberry). The large tamales practically fall apart as they tumble out of the husk and that’s a good thing. The ratio of tender masa to filling is balanced and the price of $2 per tamale invites mixing and matching. Place Nochebuena orders as soon as possible." - Annelies Zijderveld, Dianne de Guzman, Paolo Bicchieri

This is a great hidden gem that I just found out about. If you're looking for a place to go for a date night, or with the girls, or after a long day of work, I would consider come here. It's a whole vibe and the prices are very reasonable. The food was great and the adult drinks were delicious. We got the tequila flight and it did not disappoint.

I’ve been to Masa Taqueria in Richmond and their drive-thru location a handful of times, and I keep coming back because the food is consistently delicious and satisfying. On my most recent visit, I had a shredded chicken taco, a shredded chicken tostada (accidentally got pinto beans instead of blac...oops!), a chicken in green sauce tamale, and an carnitas entrée plate. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The tamale was especially good, and moist. The asada was really flavorful , and the taco was solid, as always. In the past, I’ve also ordered their shrimp tacos, flautas, and burrito, and both have always been consistent and tasty. One small gripe: when I order a burrito with just beans and avocado (no meat), I always have to ask for more beans. It tends to come a little light otherwise, but you are paying a full price. So I usually order inside if I want a black bean and avocado burrito. Also, sometimes you have to ask for sides like salsa or carrots/radish mix, which can be a little frustrating if you’re grabbing food to go and you come home and don't have it. That said, the team is friendly and helpful once you speak up. Don’t miss their horchata, it’s one of the best I’ve had. I also really like mixing it with their strawberry jugo drink for something a little fruity with that.horchata goodness. Overall, Masa Taqueria is a solid go-to for flavorful, casual Mexican food with great drinks and mostly smooth service. Also, they make crazy cocktails. I liked it better during the pandemic but it's still really good. Now you just get a standard cocktail in a glass with an added fruit or flower. But you're going to pay a little bit of a heftier price for a pretty photographic cocktail, you just gotta ask. I'll add those pictures here.

Masa Grill offers a vibrant atmosphere with excellent indoor dining options and a charming outdoor seating area. The restaurant is adorned with lush greenery, creating a refreshing and relaxing vibe. When dining here, you place your order at the counter before seating yourself and then pick up your food once it's ready. I tried their quesadillas and loaded fries, and it was incredibly filling and delicious. They also offer unique signature drinks that are both fun to order and great for photos. While there is a parking lot available, it tends to fill up quickly on weekends.

Great tacos!! Loved them! Nice decoration and good service. Nice drinks. On the expensive side, though, for the place. Also, even if you dine in, some drinks come in plastic cups and also plastic cutlery... not very environmentally friendly.

Google
They’re in my neighborhood so I’ve gone here several times and likely won’t return. Today barely any meat in my El pastor burrito to/go order. They tied up the plastic bag so I asked if there’s napkins and some salsa in it. The said there was. We walked back home to fine neither in the bag. Small for $14 and very little meat and not particularly tasty. Also, the fish tacos are bad. Nice shiny place with a new fancy bar, lots of staff but lame execution. There’s other better places to get better Mexican food. Sad…

During my last trip, this place quickly became a staple. I ate here everyday for lunch and always had the quesabirria tacos. This place is outstanding! Cannot stress enough how good their food is. I was always on lunch so I never got to try any of their delicious looking mixed drinks, but this would be the place to come watch a game, eat some tacos, and have a few drinks.

Google
Nice place, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Alcoholic drinks available too ~ the food is good but not great, solid tacos. The Al Pastor was the standout, this place is a bit overpriced roughly $5/street taco and the steady flow of people makes service a bit slow. All in all, good spot

Google
Self ordering takes away the contact element you expec to ask questions or customize your food, instead of greetings, you interact with the screen. Food is average, the portions are getting smaller since they opened a few years ago, the ceviche has clams to juice which is not announced prior to order, I was expecting the traditional ceviche. The restaurant cut seating space to insert a big bar, restrooms are not sufficient. Average place.

Yelp
OMG I AM SO GLAD MY FROEND TOLD ME ABOUT THIS SPOT!!! I already love Point Richmond but this spot has made me start visiting the area weekly!! Food: so good, seasoned and fresh!! I eat there all the time and it comes out popping hot! I tried the Ramen noodles and I'm hooked!! The tacos are a taco Tuesday staple in our order!!! Their horchata and hibiscus ((mix them for a nice treat)) is really good!! Staff: they are super nice!! Always speak when you come in! Pricing: it's about average of authentic Spanish food. It does add up quick though! I don't like that you have to pay for chips and salsa when you dine in. I think that should be complementary. Ambiance: it's a very nice place. A little chilly inside but always clean when we go and not full of people but they are always busy. Get the ramen, the tacos and I'm trying the pazole next time!!!

Yelp
Super cute spot in Point Richmond! The atmosphere is fun, music playing, you order at the counter and find your spot, then you buss your own table. So it's not fancy, but it's clean, and really nice inside. There is plenty of room, lots of tables inside, also a small bar area with counter seating, as well as a small outdoor patio. They have a very small parking lot, you will probably have to park on the street. Depending on the time of day, that can be tricky. They have delicious aguas frescas in lots of flavors to choose from. I got a cucumber melon flavor. Yum! Ok now for the food!!! I have had the birria tacos which are popular and delicious. But this last time I went I got a super shrimp wet burrito with red sauce. Omg so good and it's huge! My husband got the mole enchiladas. He really liked and cleaned his plate. Come and try and I guarantee you will come back.

Yelp
Basically take out and eat in. I like it though. A bar feel with good food. You have to go up and order to the left . A wide variety of Mexican food. Love the fish tacos. Then you sit at big long family style takes and go to the bar on the other side to get your drinks. It's all about the happiness. Parking is difficult but available. It's worth a visit

Yelp
My classmates and I came here after school and it's our #1 place to go to destress and hang out. The food is so good and the serving size is perfect. They also have a bar that has fun and unique named drinks!

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious, and the aguas frescas are just as amazing--fresh, flavorful, and refreshing. This spot has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes it perfect for bringing your family or meeting up with friends. The portions are generous and ideal for sharing, so you can try a bit of everything. The tamales were hands-down the highlight--perfectly seasoned, soft, and full of flavor. If you're in the area and craving authentic, comforting food in a friendly atmosphere, this is definitely the place to go. Great service, great food, and a place you'll want to come back to again and again.

Yelp
We've been coming to Masa Tamales & Taqueria in Richmond for quite some time. It's always an easy go-to with quick and efficient service, fresh and quality ingredients, and really friendly people. We love taking a stroll in Point Richmond and really enjoy how large and spacious this restaurant is, especially for a stroller :) It's been a while since our last moment at the Richmond location (there is now a secondary location in El Cerrito with a drive-thru). This locale seems to always be bustling, and during our visit we noticed a bit of interior construction for an upcoming bar scene - looks super cool and the makings of elevating this spot to the next level! I like to order the burrito bowls, while my husband tried the torta (love that it comes on Dutch Crunch). Also tried a jalapeño marg that was delicious. All in all, Masa is a solid choice for us but this day we felt the portion to price ratio a bit off. Still yummy and filling, nonetheless. Can't wait to see how they transform the bar area towards the back of the restaurant area soon ~ outdoor dining available too.

Yelp
I came here last year and most recently in May. Their quesobirria tacos are bomb. However, most recently I tried the ceviche and I was shocked to see how little ceviche there is for the price (first pic). There was mostly chips. Their agua fresca drinks are good. I would recommend you order at the cashier instead of the kiosk. We waited for so long for one last plate in our order. When we went up to ask, they said that it was not on their screen as part of the order. They said that orders have been getting messed up when you order from the kiosk. If that is the case, they shouldn't be using the kiosks or they should try to fix the kiosks so that doesn't happen. The place itself looks very cute and cultural. Would love to try other food and drinks they have. Since it's getting more known, it can get pretty busy during peak business hours. There is also designated parking but it can get full.

Yelp
We ordered ceviche, fish tacos, and a burrito. The ceviche was good, but it was missing something. The burrito was too mushy, but the birria inside was good. Counter service was fast and friendly. It's nice inside but I regret not checking out the patio. We probably should have ordered tamales since that's in the name. I'm willing to give it another chance.

Yelp
First time visiting Masa after a walk in Point Pinole. This area of Richmond is a very pretty downtown area that I had no idea existed. We ordered a total of 6 tamales which we split between the two of us and two agua frescas. The tamales seem very uniform in shape and were all the exact same size. For ~$4 each I was hoping for a little more tamale but the fillings were delicious and the masa was moist and flavorful. I also very much enjoyed the cucumber pineapple and horchata agua frescas but again, at ~$4 each I was a little disappointed as they did seem to be refillable. The interior is decorated well and clean but there are different menus in several different places so it can get a little confusing when you walk in. They also have a fairly small dedicated parking lot just for the restaurant.

Yelp
(This review is from when we dined in March of 2024.) Nicely decorated Mexican eatery with a wide selection of tamales. Flavors are on point, though portions are on the smaller side. Masa was fairly empty on a Wednesday at 2 PM. There's a small (maybe 5 spots?) parking lot in the front of the restaurant. You place your order at the register and then take your number to any seat you choose. The staff call out your number when they're ready to assemble your food, and you return to the counter to choose your rice, beans, etc. I knew I wanted to go hard on the tamales because that's what sets this place apart. I got the 2-tamale combination plate and chose the chicken with mole sauce and the jalapeno with cheese. I also added the strawberry tamale for dessert. My friends got the burrito and the quesabirria tacos. Tamales were all decent sizes, but the dine-in portions of rice and beans felt a little skimpy. They also gave tiny containers of salsa, but I could have used more. I chose the cilantro rice instead of the usual orange rice, which was delicious. The tamales all had great flavor. The strawberry tamale was novel to me, I thought it might have a fruit filling, but instead the strawberries are mixed into the masa itself. It was a fun way to end our meal. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Bad serviced by cashier the agua fresca had no flavor at all and they refused to change it even tho the pineapple and cucumber just tested like plane water disgusting serviced by the cashier wouldn't recommend coming here just go somewhere else where your serviced is more apreciate

Yelp
Absolutely recommend this spot. Tomales were fire and the Baja fish tacos were amazing. I love that it has a drive thru! Very fast service and really affordable. I will definitely go back to try more of their menu. The outdoor seating area looked really cute too.

Yelp
After a photo walk in Point Richmond, the group met here for lunch. On my 1st visit, I wasn't as hungry as I was when I returned for a 2nd time. My friends had a torta, chips and a cocktail. I only ordered Esquite. This delicious Mexican street food is corn topped with queso cotija, chili powder, and their homemade mayo dressing. I like it so much that I wanted to go back and have it again. It was my turn to pick a restaurant for a monthly lunch with Toni and Lori. This was my chance to go again and share this spot with friends. Lori was not able to attend. I met Toni at the restaurant. You can enter the building by the stairs or a ramp. There is a covered patio for outside dining on the side of the building. Parking in sleepy Point Richmond can be difficult; Masa does have a small parking lot. On my 2nd visit, I had ceviche with a mix of shrimp and fish. Toni and I share an order of Esquite and a cookie. We did not finish the corn, I took it home. I felt a bit guilty not splitting the leftovers but not guilty enough to say no. We also share an alfajores cookie. The ceviche was tasty. I liked it because it wasn't too citrusy. Both times I had I had a tamarind soda in a bottle. When I saw the torta, chips, and cocktail on my first visit, and then the Quesabirra on my second visit, I will be back again to try them.

Yelp
This place is Amazing . The best Mexican Food and service in the East Bay Hands Down Fresh and consistent. These people really know how to do it right . If you eat there you will be amazed how nice the place looks super clean with a great look . Yelp
I always come by for take out and have enjoyed their tamales. They used to say made with chicken stock but now specifically mark the vegetarian ones! I really enjoy these tamales and will always come back for more.

Yelp
I've gone to Mass Tamales & Taqueria a few times now and every time the food and service have been amazing! The restaurant itself is also beautiful and mindfully decorated. A few of the items I've tried off the menu have been the goat and asada quesabirria with consommé, taco loaded fries, chips and guacamole, house flan and alfajores. A few friends have tried and really enjoyed the baja tacos and black bean and cheese tamales. Masa never misses and I plan on visiting the restaurant many more times!

Yelp
Great flautas and drinks. Loved the Spanish language indie rock on the speakers. Very nice staff.
google avatar

Stuart L.

Yelp
Please note that this review is not for tamales, which are Masa's specialty. I was feeling more like a burrito the day I went. Burrito was very large, but flavorless. Service from the cashier was very good, not so much for the woman who made my burrito - she was unpleasant, and pretended not to hear my preferences, even though I am fluent in Spanish! I will come back for take-out tamales, if they're as they're purported to be, but that remains to be seen...

Yelp
Food was delicious. I ordered the ceviche & I HAD to have a Tamal, I mean cmon, go to Masa tamales & taqueria and not try their tamales? I had the beef in red salsa- preparado (prepared with the fixings of sour cream, cheese, and a red salsa) Soooo good! The tamal was so tender. The ceviche was also good! ** Also! Save room for dessert. I tried their Tres leches cake and OMG so moist, delicious, the perfect amount of sweetness. Loved it!!! Service: the staff was friendly. We really only dealt with them when ordering. You order your food, pay, then pick up your food at the end. You also order alcoholic bebeverages separately. Ambiance was great. They were playing good tunes at a decent sound level. Beautiful decor. The cocktails were served well, and looked presentable. Would definitely go again if I'm in Richmond.

Yelp
A nice Mexican lace where you order your food and drinks, pay and then go sit down. When they call your number you go up and pick your ingredients like type of beans, salsa, type of meat and etc. They've got many drinks to choose from both non alcohol and boozy drinks alike. They've got some crazy titled boozy drinks that are truly unique and yummy. My fav is the "bad bunny". It's pretty much self service once you get your food but the place has a nice vibe! They sell candies and cake and the like as we..

Yelp
Needed a place to meet a friend that was 1/2 way between us, we settled on Masa. This was my first time here. The restaurant is bright and open, it is one where you order at the counter and pick up your food. I ordered the ceviche (combo of fish and shrimp) and the esquite. The ceviche came with chips. My friend had a burrito and chips and guac. My ceviche was fresh and had good balance with a nice kick of spice. The esquite was creamy with lots of cheese, so good! My friend enjoyed his burrito as well, but no picture. When you get a burrito, you get to pick your topping (a bit like Chipotle). Grabbed some Tamales to take home for a friend, no word yet on her opinion. The place was clean and everyone was very friendly. They have lots of munchies you can pick up as well. There is a small parking lot and street parking available.

Yelp
Yesterday Terry and I met here for lunch. It was Terry's choice. Lori was under the weather and was unable to join us. Decades ago this building housed Point Orient, an upscale Chinese restaurant. I can't remember when it closed, but I haven't been here since. There is a parking lot but I was unable to find a space in it. Fortunately I found a space on the street not too far away. The restaurant can be entered either by stairs or a ramp. I walked up the stairs and into the restaurant. I looked around for Terry and didn't see her so took a seat on the bench facing the door, next to a beautifully decorated skeleton. Sadly I didn't think to take its picture. Maybe someone else has or will. A little while later Terry, who had been taking a walk, joined me. She took a bottled drink from the cooler and we went to the counter to order. The young woman behind the counter was sweet and accommodating. Terry wanted ceviche and a starter of corn, Esquite. We agreed to split the corn. I had had the carnitas torta at the El Cerrito location but wanted something different. I decided on an order of quesabirria tacos w/ carnitas, adding onions, cilantro and mild salsa. Terry saw the alfajores cookies and commented on them so I bought one to share. I ordered tamarindo to drink. They have several aguas frescas. She told us our order numbers and we took a table w/ chairs w/ arms. The chairs were a bit on the low side in relation to the beautiful wood slab table, but the arms made them easier to get up from. When our numbers were called Terry went to pick up the food. The corn was delicious, topped with queso cotija, chili powder, and their homemade mayo dressing; she took the leftovers home. The tacos were excellent, not greasy and tasty enough that I didn't even use the salsa. There was a large sliced radish on the tray w/ the tacos, which I enjoyed. I loved the tamarindo, which I had requested w/ light ice. I thought the cookie was OK, a bit on the sweet side for my taste. My only complaint is the amount of plastic generated, between straws, to-go containers for drinks, corn and the ceviche, and plastic utensils. It would be so much better to use compostable or recyclable materials. The single gender neutral bathroom, while clean and functional, was oddly configured ergonomically, the toilet angled out from a corner w/ the grab bars behind it rather than beside it. It was in the back behind a zippered plastic curtain that was held open w/ sashes and past the bar. It looks as i they're in the midst of a construction project, hence the curtain. When we finished our lunch the curtain had been zipped closed. Terry and I had a great conversation and we never felt rushed. I thought what I had was very tasty and would order it again. I could bring my own drink container and use less plastic.

Yelp
Happy hour starts at 3pm with $1 off drinks. All our drinks were soo good and refreshing. My party also ordered baja tacos, tamales, tostadas, quesadillas, pizole and burritos. EVERYTHING tastes so good from here!

Yelp
I love this place because they have everything - all of the agua frescas, all of the Mexican candies and chips, and that bar! It's wonderful. There is also room here and various zones to eat. The downstairs is open too. I only have the tamales here, because why not? And the bar is on point. They have smaller tables for 3-4 and the longer tables that can seat many more people. The only thing is that if you order in there, it can take a long time for your order to be ready. Something I didn't expect because the tamales are already made. I know they have burritos and tacos and some other things. They also have a long line, but this place is a fun place to be in. I really love their decor for the holidays too. It gives me a fun distraction during the long wait for my food. But for really good tamales, filling, great flavor, and a drink, beyond the margarita, this is your spot!

Yelp
My friends and I decided to check out Point Richmond area and then have lunch at Masa since we heard they had delicious homemade tamales. They have a parking lot for about 10 cars but there was street parking too. Arriving at 11:30, the restaurant tables were about half occupied. Their menu consists of tamales and tacos, burritos, quesabirria, tostadas, tortas, quesadillas, bowls and flautas. You order at the counter and find a table to sit. When your number is called, you pick up at the pickup area of the counter. They had four agua frescas, melon, pineapple, Jamaica and horchata. I got a pineapple and it was not too sweet and was very good. There's a station where you can get cups of water. In about 10 minutes, my number was called and went to get my food. They asked if I wanted mild or hot salsa and they put two containers on my tray. I got three tamales, Beef in red sauce tamale, Chicken in mole sauce tamale and a Pineapple tamale. For the two savory tamales, they were both delicious. The beef in red sauce was more flavorful than the chicken one, which I wish had more mole. Never had a sweet tamale, but the pineapple one was a nice finish with its sweet, but not overly sweet pineapple paste filling. I liked the ambiance and the counter staff was friendly. A nice gem in Pt Richmond and I'll be back to try other tamales and the quesabirria, which looks delish too.

Yelp
I had to try this place after a couple of friends suggested that I try the tacos. I ordered the "baja shrimp tacos." Everything was fresh and delicious.

Yelp
I have came here a couple times and really enjoyed Masa. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. There's small tables and bigger tables. It is good for groups. The menu has many choices, you can get pretty much anything Mexican. One of my coworkers is vegetarian and she commented that she like that there were 3 different veggie Tomales. I have tried the quesabirria, ceviche, and Baja fish taco. I've also tried their horchata and mango aqua Fresca. Everything has been delicious. Pricing is very reasonable. I will definitely come back here.
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
Really like the vibes of the place. You order food at one counter and alcoholic drinks at another. Once you place your order they will give you a pager to pick up your food once it is ready. There are inside and outside seating areas. I got the quesabirria and it was delicious the tamales on the combo was also very good. The street taco was a little on the dry side for my taste. Overall everything was really good.

Yelp
I had never visited Point Richmond but was staying in the neighborhood for a school accreditation visit. I'm a tamale enthusiast so this caught my eye during my initial Yelp review of the area surrounding my hotel. I was happy my colleague enjoys Mexican food so we headed down the block for dinner. The spot is bright, hip(but not annoyingly so), with fun Latine music playing(Bad Bunny and banda). Orders are placed at the front counter where you can watch your order be prepared or wait until your number is called. I enjoyed an agua fresca with my combo plate of two chicken tamales with green sauce. I was craving an esquite so now I'll need to come back.

Yelp
Walked in looking for a delicious bite to eat. The ambiance was festive and a full house of customers. I ordered steak tacos and a henchata that was highly suggested. Absolutely delicious

Chira E.

Yelp
I had an appointment in the area and decided to give Masa a try. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the floors were clean and the tables were cleared. The ordering process is a bit different. After placing my order and paying, I was told to come back after my number was called and then I could let them know what I wanted on my bowl. I wasn't given anything with my number on it, so I committed my number to memory and walked over to the adjacent counter to order my drink. The secondary counter had alcoholic drinks and another cashier to pay for the drinks separately. My number was called fairly quickly and I went back to the counter to customize my bowl. They have a variety of toppings including both Spanish rice and poblano rice. The bowl was really good and I will definitely return.

Yelp
Tamales and tacos were great! However the ceviche was very disappointing: where was the fish and shrimp? it was 99% tomato and onions. Teeny tiny bits of fish and...maybe shrimp? my fault for not returning the food. restaurant was nice and clean. the service friendly.

Yelp
Looking for a quick bite my friend and I stumbled upon a little treasure in Richmond. The food was soo good! Flavorful with many options. You place your order and then they call your number to decide what you want as far as toppings. I also had a cucumber, kiwi and pineapple juice that was nice and refreshing. They offer catering and have an area downstairs for large groups. They advertise a happy hour and I think we will be back to check that out next.

Yelp
This place is a great hangout spot. Great food great bar service and prices are reasonable. We love meeting friends here. Local spot and good food

Yelp
Had Memorial Day brunch here about noon. There is not table service. You walk in and order and they give you a little buzzer, once the food is already they buzz you to go pick up. Michalada was good and tasty. Fish tacos was good, the fish is fried and nice soft with a tasty aioli sauce and slaws. The house ceviche was very fresh mix with shrimp and fish. Quesabirria with consomé was good, the beef was very tender and flavorful, the consomé was perfect. Birria Ramen was good with the consomé. They have serval different agua fresca.

Yelp
My family and I tried this place after helping my sister move out from her apartment. I love their drinks, it's all super good and colorful! I tried the chicken bowl and it was good. I would love to also point the great ambiance of the place, all the color on the ceilings and the different cool snacks they sell as well by the door. Unfortunately this place does not really have a sit down service as you have to pay and order first. Which worked great for us since we were just doing a quick stop. But definitely have to keep note if you want a more sit down service place! Other than that, I would definitely come back for the drinks and cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Masa is a nice little restaurant in Point Richmond that has good food and large cocktails. We ordered a bunch of different stuff and liked everything! The drinks were good, but fair warning, they are expensive. For a double shot margarita and one other cocktail, I paid almost $50!! So if that's what you want to do, then by all means... YOLO! Service was good, but they are the type of place to charge you extra if you want more chips maybe it's because of the area but the real deal authentic places usually offer you more chips without charge as a gesture of their hospitality and culture--just sayin'! Especially after spending $50 on drinks, I think a little side of chips to finish our ceviche could have been "on the house." Anyway, if you like that Baja-style Mexican food, this is the place to go. If you want authentic, bang for your buck Mexican food, go to 23rd! Adios!

Yelp
Masa has such a cool vibe and space in Richmond. We've been here twice and love their food. Their system is similar to Chipotle. You order and pay at the register and then wait for them to buzz you up to the counter. You then go down the line filling up your tacos, bowls with your pick of beans, rice, salsa, etc. Their bowls are really filling and their fish taco is delicious with the coleslaw. Ask for extra coleslaw. And always say yes to the spicy sauce. Thank me later. They also have epic alcoholic drinks at one end of the counter. Haven't tried any of them, but it looks like it's a thing on Fridays and weekends. The only item lacking for us was the fish ceviche. It was just too sour without another flavor to combat it. But we're coming back for more, for sure.

Yelp
Masa has became a neighborhood favorite. Prices have gone up with inflation(ie. $2 tamales are now $3), but I think they are still reasonable given the high quality of the foods. On our recent visit we ordered two asada tacos, ramen birria with chivo(goat), quesabirria with chivo, al pastor burrito, pozole and chile relleno plate, plus guava and cucumber with pineapple aqua frescas. I liked that they use fresh ingredients and you can customize each order (spanish rice or cilantro rice, types of beans, sour cream, guac, cheese, types of salsa, etc). Portions were fair, and everything was delicious. The only hiccup during this visit was that they forgot our burrito, but when I went back to the counter to point that out, initially they questioned it, but when I showed the receipt, they quickly made the burrito for me. I am glad that Masa has survived the pandemic and looks like they are thriving.

Yelp
Masa is great! We've pretty much tried everything on the menu and have always enjoyed it. We first came here for their tamales, since there were limited restaurants that sold them. We kept coming back for more and eventually ordered other items on the menu. The quesabirria is pretty good and they come as 3 tacos and consome on the side. They are smaller than other places I've been to, but they do fill you up. Not greasy either. The tortilla for the tacos are homemade, so it's not doubled like what you would get at the taco trucks. That being said, they sometimes would rip due to all the toppings and juices. The steak fries are really good and you can ask to substitute the meat! Portions are great for the price. Watermelon agua fresca is a fave! Items we usually order: - tamales, quesabirria, steak fries, burritos, watermelon agua fresca

Yelp
Birria pizza was so tasty and finger licking good! You order at the register and then they call out your # when the food is ready for pickup. You find your own place to sit and there's a good amount of seating. Their cucumber aquas Fresca needs more tang to it. The homemade tamales were dry and not to be desired in the future.

Yelp
The food is decent but the service is not great and seems to be getting worse. They've recently added a banner-sized announcement that they effectively won't be customizing any orders -- despite being a fast casual dining establishment. The restaurant is increasingly less inviting and will definitely impact how much I frequent the place.

Yelp
I give the bartender a 5 star, I told him I wanted my drink strong. I got my food, there was hardly no meat or cheese, I asked for some extra cheese and she said more charge. The food is decent. Mexican food is known for big portions and they stingy here with food. My daughter said she wouldn't eat here again because of the potions. I like the bartender, because he did everything to make us happy.

Yelp
Toxic cleaning odors!!! When I eat I like to smell food, NOT the cleaning supply isle in Home Depot. This place has good food but the overwhelming wall of stench ruins it. I've never been to any restaurant that uses such strongly fragranced cleaning supplies. There's no escape, even outside on the decks. Also, the downstairs has a serious mold problem. Bathrooms smell of mold, mildew, rot. I would give 5 stars if the odors had not ruined the experience.

Yelp
Counter-service Mexican spot with really good food. The menu is pretty large. My mother in law and I shared a few things: chicken quesadilla, shrimp ceviche, a green chicken tamale, and a red beef tamale. My picky toddler also got a fruit cup and a slice of lemon cake lol. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. My only complaint is that the ceviche comes with one tostada, and it's a HUGE serving which calls for at least a few tostada's or a whole bunch of chips. Will come back!

Yelp
Have come here a couple times for a quick bite. The place is spacious and food open to many adjustments. They have a vegan tamale which was very tasty, especially with their salsas on it. Service is friendly and decently fast for the large crowds that are here. A good spot for some fast, simple, tasty tamales.

Yelp
Good food, good portion sizes and quick service! You walk in and place your order. Lots of options and drinks to choose from. Plenty of seating inside and out. Definitely recommend stopping by here. It's a nice little gem in Point Richmond when you get your Mexican food cravings.
