The most insane chicken yakitori, HIGHLY recommend, Chang said it was one of the best meals of his life

We had one of our favourite meals in Japan in here. The atmosphere inside is buzzing and exactly what you want from an izakaya, and the food is exceptional. We had the chicken omakase, the egg rice and a bunch of sides, and everything was delicious. Will definitely return.

This restaurant was featured in the Netflix Ugly Delicious series by Dave Chang. In the episode BBQ, Yakitori Masakichi (5-2-8, Megurohoncho, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, 3-3792-5216): Chef Masahiko Kodama grills Niigata-sourced chicken seasoned with Niigata salt over Japanese binchotan charcoal. "This is the best yakitori I've ever had," Chang says in an emotional moment. We arrived at 9:30pm and they managed to accommodate us as last order is 10:15pm. We had the chicken omekase set of 5 variety (¥1480), chicken Breast, neck, liver, meatball and chicken wing which was the best. We also ordered the chicken tail and skin. The quality of the grilled food was done perfectly and the service was prompt. Totally enjoyable experience and recommend a visit.

Great Yakitori place made even more famous when David Chang cried after eating their food on Ugly Delicious. I can say that those tears were real because this was the best Yakitori I have ever had. The photos don’t do them justice , you have to try it for yourself. The chicken was absolutely tender and delicious without the need for any extra seasonings as well. Shout out for their excellent sake collection. Too bad juyondai was sold out

Yummy! Not many locals, but the food was delish. We got 2 of each kind, shared between 3 people and that was perfect. I really really liked the whipped eggs on rice!

Google
The place lives up to the hype in my opinion. I recommend doing Omakase followed by ordering few more pieces as needed. Chicken butt and neck meats were my favorite. The ramen is delicious too.

Google
This place gives you a mind-blown experience with food tasting. The fact that David Chang recommended it is one thing, but then if you get to try their food, you won’t be able to forget the taste. Now they tend not to accept a reservation from tourists, because there were too many “no-shows” which is a shame. So ppl please don’t do that.

Little yakitori in a local neighbourhood. Beautifully cooked yakitori with a really good selection of 🍶. The grand finale ending of ramen was absolutely moreish! Definitely a need to go back for more place.

Yelp
Have you seen the episode of Ugly Delicious and the Yakitori that made David Chang weep? This is the exact spot and I finally got to try. Although it didn't make me weep, the experience was just what I expected - outstanding! It's a bit of walk from the nearest station, Musashi Koyama but not too far as it takes you there within 10min on foot. It's tucked in quasi residential area, it was not a loudy or rowdy Izakaya kind. I admit that I'm no expert of Yakitori but the juiciness and bigger-that-usual alone can definitely stand out from the rest. It definitely gives you the sense of premium. I ordered "Omakase"(The chef's choice) and it had * Tebasaki(wings) * Seseri(chicken neck) * Furisode(the part between the wing and the breast) * Negima(thigh and leek) * Bonjiri(buttocks) Some of them may sound grotesque but believe me, ignorance is bliss. Their texture is pretty "normal" as thigh or breast. And they are so flavorful(especially Seseri) Regrettably, I came here under the state of emergency, no alcohol was allowed to serve.(yes, Japan is back in Al Copne time...) I can't wait to come back here once it's lifted. Omakase was ¥1300 if I remember correctly. Single skewer is ¥150-300 range. It may sound expensive if you've been to McYakitoti like Torikizoku. This pricing has a good reason - bigger portion and quality. Which totally justifies it. My bill came out ¥7000 for two(with no alcohol). I think this is good deal. Come 'n check it out!

Yelp
This is definitely the best yakitori establishment I've never been to in my life. I would say that David Chang did not disappoint when he filmed here in Ugly Delicious. The reservations were really hard to secure. The hotel concierge had to make the reservation because the credit card could not access - local only. Reservations were only allowed so many weeks in advance also. This restaurant is kind of off the beaten path in Tokyo and in a more residential neighborhood. Use google maps to navigate yourself. We checked in, and it seemed like they were confused about the reservation. It was super full. They told us to wait outside. We waited outside for about 30 minute. Mind you I had observed a sole lonely table in the back that I think it was for us. After a 30-40 minute wait, which I believe was a test, we were permitted in. We were initially told it was "omakase" only and a one drink minimum per person. Side note, has anyone else noticed the highballs are way more affordable in Japan than anything else? The omakase came with chefs choice of 5 sticks per person. After that we could order anything else off the menu. Must order items: CHICKEN WINGS. They were the best chicken wings EVER! The wing was fillet opened in half, and grilled on a stick. GIZZARD. LIVER. I've never had chicken liver that legitimately tasted like foie gras. My mom tells us that is what fresh chicken liver tastes like. Wow. Mind was completely blown. CHICKEN CARTILAGE - like eating chips. Get the Chicken Skins. Finish your meal with a small bowl of soba, which was the best bowl of soba of the entire trip - even outside of all the ramen shops we went to. Also ordered the Kake tamago, which is basically a raw egg mixed with rice. We would have ordered more, but we were told "no more." I think they were worried we would eat them empty for the remainder of the night. $200 USD for 5 people. Amazing deal, even better food. BTW in case anyone is wondering, it's only CHICKEN.

Yelp
The legendary Masakichi, not just legendary because David Chang in Ugly Delicious says so but also this Yakitori chef's peers. It wasn't easy to secure a reservation, but after three attempts and through two different concierge teams finally managed to score a dinner seating. Good: Price point (for around 30-40 Cad you'd easily fill yourself up): friendly service Not so great: Cramped; hot during the heat wave (mostly because the A/C doesn't work great); found the food salty

Yelp
Arguably the best meal I had during my two week stay in Japan. Reserved and prepaid ahead of time via a concierge service for about $45 per person. My pictures don't do the omakase justice. I was taken on a food journey that used every part of the chicken - down to the bones for the ramen broth. To my delight the chicken heart skewer was the star of the show. Would recommend for meat and chicken lovers everywhere!

Yelp
A must go for all chicken/yakitori lovers in Japan. They definitely deserve the Michelin Star that was given to them. We had reservations for five and we did their group skewers, the chefs picked out five skewers for us with the option to add additional items. The pricing is very reasonable and the atmosphere is great. The chicken liver spread is probably the best thing I ate in Japan during our trip. The location was a little hard to find but it was worth running through a full on downpour.

Yelp
Incredible experience. Went here after a day of being a tourist, food and service were amazing. Thank you!

Yelp
Unfortunately they scammed us on our bill. Otherwise it could have been a pleasant experience, even though you can easily find better and more reasonably priced barbecue in Tokyo.
