Masala Box

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. I’ve come here on multiple occasions because the food is so good, my favorite dish that lives rent-free in my mind is the southern Indian chicken curry. It’s creamy and flavorful, and the meat was cooked well. The duck mastak is also really delicious, both sauces on it are perfection. The restaurant is also clean and comfortable, the servers that I have encountered were kind. I also like that the restaurant has an extensive cocktail and beer menu. Definitely recommend and I’m looking forward to coming back.

This is my first time to eat at this Indian restaurant, I rarely eat Indian food, the taste of this restaurant is very good, my friends and I are very satisfied, I will try again when I have the chance

This is such a great spot for amazing Indian food. The flavor profile for each dish is on point, and they're all so delicious! I especially recommend the Fish Pakora for apps and the Chicken Tikka Masala and South Indian Chicken Curry for entrees. I loved the vibes, especially the music selection, and really appreciated how friendly and warm Karan, one of the owners, was with our party. I've been at this restaurant a few times. Today, I had a pickup order, and when I got home, I saw Naan was missing and there was a hole on the plastic ware which had the chicken tikka masala in. Never occurred before, but I understand things happen dealing with many orders and customers.

Not a typical menu. Tried the duck app & steak entree. Steak could have been more tender. Asked for substitute of lamb, / chicken Tikka masala. Lamb was tender the curry was delicious.

This was an interesting experience. The service was extravagant and the waiters were very responsive. The saag paneer was extraordinary. One thing I recommend is maintaining spice levels. The butter chicken was too sweet, and the Punjabi chole was salty. Otherwise, exquisite!

Decent Indian food in the area. Personally had dishes better suited to my tastes but the ones here are all solid. Full bar and nice atmosphere and great service 👌

My first time at Masala Box but definitely not my last, I can't believe I've never dined here before. The restaurant has a very inviting , open concept. The exterior stands out amongst the 100's of restaurants on Bell Blvd. The waiter/ bartender was awesome, very friendly and attentive. Party of 4 (2 vegetarians) we ordered a bunch of stuff to share. The mango lassi was a hit The paneer mutter was actually better than the chicken tikka masala. The aloo gobi was delicious, perfect amount of spice. Ras malai was made perfectly

We ordered the shrimp tikka which we've never seen on any other menu. The chicken biryani was good and flavorful. The garlic naan was also good. Compared to other Indian spots in queens this place is a bit on the expensive side for the portion size. The service was nothing too special, he did his job and checked up on us.

This is such a quaint and wonderful spot for Indian food that I stumbled across while in the area. I had dinner here with my mom and sister and we all loved it! We were warmly greeted by one of the owners, Karan, who was so personable and friendly and went above and beyond at making sure we enjoyed our dining experience. It was a bit quiet because it was a Tuesday night but the vibe was still great because the playlist was AMAZING! I loved the early 2000s Bollywood songs and it really added to a great dining experience. The drinks were really good - we loved all of our drinks (Sidecar, Cocktail X, and Mai Tai) and followed them with some comforting Masala Chai. The food was delicious! The apps we tried (Calamari and Fish Pakora) were so yummy and well done, especially the Fish Pakora. It could easily become my go-to whenever I visit again because of the flavor and how well it was battered. I love a good Chicken Tikka Masala and this one did not disappoint. It was creamy and had all of the flavor you expect out of Chicken Tikka Masala. My mom's Chicken Vindaloo was well made with a good spice level and paired well with the Garlic Naan. My sister ordered the South Indian Chicken Curry, which had such an amazing flavor combo. I loved the tamarind and the kick it added to the palette. We finished off with Ras Malai, which was the perfect amount of sweetness to round out a great meal. Overall, this is a solid spot for Indian food that I recommend visiting if you're in the area!

tried this place after seeing the mufasa movie with my best friend. it's a location where you will have to pay for parking really close or you can circle a few times for street parking. the samosas here are great, and a fantastic size. my best friend and i were pretty full off these alone. the mango lassi was also amazing. i've had it from a few places and this spot held it's own. for our entrees i had the chicken tikka masala and my friend got the chicken biryani. both dishes were flavorful. check this spot out!

In a sea of restaurants on Bell Boulevard in Bayside, how does Masala Box stand out? They simply provide great service, tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, and an enticing bar menu. It wasn't too hot, it wasn't too cold so they opened the huge window/doors to let in some fresh air. It was kinda dark inside but in a romantic setting. There were 8 of us so we ordered and shared "family style" and got to try a lot of different things. Of course we're basic so we went with the Chicken Tikka Masala, Samosa Chaat, Masala Shrimp, Chicken Biryani, and Baigan Bhurta. The family doesn't really eat spicy so they accommodated and made everything mild. I love spicy so I requested the Baigan Bhurta to be extra spicy but unfortunately the chef forgot to add spice so I was a bit disappointed. We were all having a good time and it wasn't a big deal but next time I come back, I'm expecting some serious spice. The owner was also very attentive which was a pleasant surprise. We were speaking amongst ourselves about not liking cilantro and he overheard. Came over to our table and explained that cilantro is a staple garnish in Indian cooking but can remake everything if we're willing to wait a little bit more. That was just super nice of him. Of course we just took it as is, no need to go that far....but again, much appreciated! Am happy to visit again soon.

I finally dined at Masala Box after having it on my radar for some time. I walked in expecting a casual ambiance with fresh spicy food and Masala Box did not disappoint. Service was friendly but there was a moment where they were making a drink I didn't confirm. Hiccups happen so I won't hold it against an otherwise great experience. This menu is cramped. There are a LOT of appetizer options and the Chicken 65 I went with was loaded with spices and flavor. It's delicious for someone but I wasn't the biggest fan, I was picturing something else when I ordered it. I'll likely try something else for appetizers next time. Moving on to mains, the popular menu items are popular for a reason, so I recommend following that guidance. I did so in getting the Paneer Saag and Chicken Tikka Masala. They don't do anything different here on main courses (taste and presentation wise) and nor should they. I appreciated the justice on standard meals. I can appreciate the flavor and freshness of everything including the naan. I'm saving the best for last. Their drink selection is truly very special. Some of these desi-spinoff options are so creative and taste amazing. If I was stuck between Masala Box and another, the drinks would easily sway me over. If you haven't tried this spot, I can guarantee you're missing out.

It's a nice spot for Indian food but it's a little bit becoming like Chinese take out for authentic Chinese cuisine. It's a tasty food but it's like a conglomerate of random cuisine that is very palatable to non south Asians. Fish pakora was delicious. The staff is a little distracted. I asked for lassi and did not say mango, still got the mango lassi. Someone's water was forgotten with all the drink orders. All the dishes looked orange.

Love love love the food. So flavorful, and it had such a wonderful vibe. I got their Punjabi chole and aloo paratha. The Punjabi chole was incredibly flavorful, and the aloo paratha was soft and so delicious. The food wasn't overly salty and had a wonderful mixture of spices. The waitress was attentive and came around occasionally to ask if we needed anything, but wasn't overbearing. Great location with wonderful food.

Went back today. Had my typical aloo gobi, obviously the best in NYC. Fresh, not mushy, spicy, and phenomenal...pro tip. With all entrees, ask for a side of raw onion and mango pickle. The pickle is homemade and awesome. Decided to also have dessert, which I tend to avoid these days. I had kulfi, CLEARLY HOMEMADE, rich with cardommom and topped with pistachios. Oof lord. So effin good

Not bad at all. I had ordered their garlic naan and paneer saag korma. I had never had this dish before so I was a little bit confused by the way it looked. I had no idea the paneer and saag were together in a shape of a ball so that was interesting. Flavor was great though, it was absolutely delicious!

Love this place. It keeps getting better. Friendly staff including the cook who came out to ask how we liked the special. I've yet to have a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy here. We've been coming here for a couple years now. Or our go to place for Indian food.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Queens. The garlic naan and shrimp masala is delicious! The space is nice and cozy. The server was so nice, friendly, and attentive. You can kind of see the kitchen and the chefs cooking which is pretty cool. Tip: get the mint chutney and mix it in your rice lol so good! Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for really good Indian food! 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back :)

Contemporary Indian food, and very smooth. Don't think this is THE most authentic Indian food if that's what you're looking for, but for our friend's birthday dinner it was a perfect place + food! Our friends who normally don't eat Indian food loved it too. I love all things paneer, but this Paneer Tikka was one of the top paneer dishes I've had before. All of the other dishes were very smooth & butterly. You can customize your spice level (mild, medium, spicy) which is convenient. If I can make one comment, I maybe would have liked more flavor in the Biryani. Our waitress was super nice and cheerful, didn't get her name but we loved her!

I order takeout from here often. The Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi are all go-to favs. You definitely get more sauce to enjoy in a to-go order (vs dine-in order). The take out rice container is tiny (about half a pint). When we dined here, we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala which was still delish but had less sauce. The Shrimp Masala was delicious but a slightly different sauce than the chicken one.

Food Memorable enough to return again and again. Samosas, Saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, chai... Service Friendly and attentive. Ambiance Comfortable.

Masala Box is the reason Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines. The staff is excellent, the drinks are spectacular, and the food is warm, comforting, and divine! Pictured here are the garlic naan, samosa chaat, paneer saag, malai kofta, and makhani dal (I couldn't help but dig in before I snapped these pics!) The entrees also each come with a side of rice. Masala Box is definitely one of the hidden gems of Bayside. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Okay, I have never written a food review for any restaurants. However this is my first one because of how bad the owner treated us. me and a couple of my friends went to this restaurant today and as soon as we walked in the owner was very rude to us telling us not to touch the paper menus and shoved a big leather menu in our hands. Secondly, after we took our seats The owner very passive aggressively told us to not eat outside food there when we were not even eating the food we had with us from before we just put it on the table. The server who served us was nice but I would never come back here because of the bad treatment. The food is okay tho. The samosas are pretty bland.

Bell Boulevard has an eclectic collection of cuisines to choose from so why shouldn't Indian be on the list? Masala Box has been around for a few years but we never got around to trying it. To remedy that, the family headed in to give it a shot. The restaurant is modern and has a trendy decor. Menu has Indian stalwarts like chicken tikka masala, naan, biryani and vindaloo as well as some new age items prepared with Indian influence. The food here is very good and hits all the right flavor notes. Chicken tikka was flavorful and the chicken was tender. Salmon tikka was cooked to medium rare perfection and spiced wonderfully. Saag paneer and aloo gobi were both very well done and are must haves to complement any meal. Lamb chops however were over cooked and very thin (not the best value). Service here is pretty good but the food comes out a tad slow for my liking (also most Indian restaurants I've eaten at get their food out insanely fast). The flavors here are really good but maybe the value's a tad lacking if you're comparing to eateries in Indian hubs like Jackson Heights and Hicksville. Still, if you're hankering for Indian fare in Bayside, this place is it.

I had Masala Box for the first time after wanting to try it for a while now! I wasn't able to get the full experience since I ordered takeout but what I tried was wonderful! I ordered the lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and samosas. The lamb biryani was very tasty but for the price, could have had more lamb in it. The pieces were fairly small but had a great taste! The garlic naan was perfectly done and paired very well with the tikka masala. I prefer a creamier masala but it was good for the price! The samosas were also very tasty! I think I definitely will be back and would love to try the food in-house!

I have tried few times this is only Indian restaurant which gives very small portions of food very pricey this is only restaurant does not have clay oven or tandoor you can't enjoy tandoori food and tandoori fresh naan I don't recommend this restaurant don't waste your money

I have gone here to dine in and enjoyed the food very much. Today I ordered takeout through Uber Eats. I spend $62 for tikka masala chicken and Tikka Masala shrimp and 2 orders of naan bread. The amount of food I received is ridiculous! 5 shrimp and a bowl full of sauce and 6 small pieces of chicken and a bowl full of sauce. Two tiny containers of rice. I ordered this to feed my family for $62 I was expecting more food. I will not be ordering take out from here again! I'm not paying for bowl full of sauce. I expect chicken and shrimp with the dishes. Very disappointed.

Really delicious! I stopped in with a friend for an early dinner... it was her first time trying Indian food and she loved it. We started with Samosas... potato & peas and lamb and shared a Punjabi Chole and Chicken Tikka Masala. Our entrees came with the rice and pooris. We also ordered a side of naan. Everything was well seasoned and had the perfect level of spiciness... we ordered our dishes "mild". Service was great! Very friendly, attentive and helpful with the menu items. I would definitely be dining here again.

My partner really enjoyed our takeout meal from Masala Box. Everything we ordered was tasty, and most of the flavors were pretty unique from your average Indian restaurant. The menu is split by tapas and entrees, so the tapas gives you a lot of opportunities to try multiple things. I would order almost everything we got again: the Chicken 65, Gobi Phataka, and Duck Mastak. The Chicken 65 was indeed spicy, and it was a nice balance of chicken and peppers. The Gobi Phataka gave us the essence of eating healthily; if all vegetables were in the sauce, I'd eat them all the time. The samosas were a notch above average ($8) - take 'em or leave 'em. The lion stout ($8/can) was a nice splurge. I look forward to trying more dishes!

Food.... not sure.... 1/5 Got chicken tikka masala Garlic naan Traditional samosa Chicken was very hard and chewy. Sauce was very watery and the rice that came with it was probably sitting in a fridge or something over night. The naan was okay....but pretty small and price is 5$ when the menu states 4$ The Traditional samosa was edible but how can someone mess up a samosa... Service got to go so cant review. The individual who picked up the phone was okay. The store was pretty dirty on a Sunday morning; however they have an A rating. I would maybe return one time just incase today was a bad day... but will be a while before i visit again

These guys has hair my in my food ans deleted my pictures three times of hair in the food. Then the owner and so called chef came to me house to argue with me ..... haha. Ok anyways yah Lets see how long it takes to get deleted

Becoming "regulars" at Masala Box, and every time we stray from our favorites, trying something different, we find another amazing dish. While the tikka masala and biryanis are really worth trying, we've found delight in lamb chops, salmon and the comforting southern Indian home style curry. If you're a fan of chicken you will enjoy, but don't miss out on long-cooked lamb and goat which are so tender, succulent and flavorful. They have a cute cocktail menu (see photo) to make your evening special and can adjust the spice level in the dishes to suit any taste. Recommend Masala Box regularly, it has become one of our staples in the area.

For our girls' night in, we knew we wanted authentic Indian fare and chose Masala Box with the intention of exploring an authentic Indian experience. First on the list was the ever-popular Chicken Tikka Masala, a rich and velvety curry embracing tender pieces of chicken that melted in our mouths. It was the perfect symphony of spices, leaving us yearning for more with every sumptuous bite. We opted for the spicy option, but you can request mild as well. The Samosas were a delightful symphony of crispy golden crusts embracing a harmonious medley of seasoned potatoes and peas with just the right amount of kick. Each bite felt like a joyous celebration of flavors, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the meal. The Naans were the real stars of the night! The Garlic Stuffed Naan dazzled us with its tantalizing aroma, boasting a heavenly fusion of garlic and soft, fluffy bread. As we indulged in its buttery goodness, it was hard to resist the temptation to savor it slowly and appreciate every nuance. Next in line was the Cheese Stuffed Naan, a scrumptious creation filled with a generous amount of gooey cheese that created an explosion of flavors in our mouths. The combination of textures and flavors was a divine experience, and we found ourselves marveling at its brilliance. Scooping up the Chicken Tikka Masala with the naan bread was the perfect combination of flavor and texture. The tender Lamb Kebabs were a bit dry for my taste, but still flavorful. The Kheema Flutes were flaky pastries filled with spiced minced chicken that was delicious and crispy. Masala Box is a local gem that radiates the heart and soul of Indian cuisine. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or new to Indian fare, Masala Box promises an unparalleled dining experience that will leave you spellbound. As far as service, when we called up with questions regarding what was best to order, the person on the phone was very helpful and guided us in the right direction on what to order to satisfy our tastebuds.

The tikki masala was flavorful. And the garlic naan....omgggg so good! I think I finally got my go to place when I'm craving indian!

I have wanted to try this spot for a while. One night, after a very intense workout, I was hungry for something healthy, vegetarian, packed with protein and delicious. I happened to be nearby at the right place and right time and went for it. If you need something wholesome and delicious, look to the Makhani Dal. Small, buttery and aromatic is this lentil dish. You can pick your level of spice-mild, medium or spicy. Even at mild, the level of spice satisfied me. If you want to repair your muscles after a workout, try the mango lassi. I recommend it!

Portion sizes are big here. Ordered chicken bryani, chicken tikki massala, garlic naan, mango lassi, and chickpea burritos. We enjoyed all the dishes. Service is good and it's clean. The ambiance is nice too.

The food was amazing. Literally some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The staff were so friendly, kind and attentive. We came in on a slower night (maybe a Tuesday?) but they definitely started to pick up while we were there. It's so cozy and bright inside -- would come back! Already planning the next date night here

One of the few Indian spots in the neighborhood. We've only gotten takeout but the interior of the restaurant looks comfortable. I always get their Paneer Saag (spinach and cheese) with naan which has a nice kick to it. Their portions are pretty generous and they have an extensive menu with vegetarian options as well as classics like curry and goat. Their samosas are decent and my husband is a fan of their chicken tikka masala. Overall a solid spot if you're craving for indian food!

Masala box is really good! The flavors are classic authentic Indian food. They have all the regulars from chicken tikka masala to chana saag and everything in between. I usually go with the classic chicken tikka masala (how can you go wrong ordering this) and it always hits the spot. It is definitely adequately portioned, the curry is rich and sweet, and it comes with rice. I always get it with a side of garlic-stuffed naan. What I like about their naan is that it's thin and has good flavor so it allows you to enjoy sopping up all the delicious curry without getting too full from the bread. Masala box is a regular for take out for me and I have dined in as well which was also delicious. They will remain a go-to for me whenever I'm craving Indian food near the Bayside/Flushing queens area.

Just moving into the area, I had to find a great Indian restaurant. After doing some research and reading many other reviews I decided to give masala box a chance. We ordered a chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo and also a shrimp masala. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo insanely spicy (wasn't as spicy to me and my brother) but then again our spice tolerance is insane. But the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken tikka and lamb were very flavorful, I also tried the shrimp masala and it was delicious as well. We also ordered a side of raita, and 3 naans. We got the onion kulcha, the garlic naan and also the chili cheese naan. All of which were delicious. Each entree came with a side of rice as well. I will definitely try some more options from this restaurant.

Pretty good Indian cuisine. Ordered the chicken tikki masala and chicken korma. Would have given 5 stars however naan was not great which is a must have to dip in sauces! Texture of the naan was way off. Too dense, very doughy. In terms of price, little higher than usual, however very good quality of chicken - all white pieces.

Had the worst experience with this place. Ordered through Uber Eats, came to pick it up, the bartender was rude and said that he didn't receive the order. I showed him a screenshot with confirmation, he rudely interrupted me and said that there was no order. I called Uber Eats, they called the restaurant and confirmed that my order was ready. I just walked over to the table with take out orders and found mine there. Their wonderful bartender didn't apologize, just shrugged his shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal. Love their food, hate customer service.

We've been to Masala Box a couple of times over the course of several years and we've always enjoyed the experiences. On occasion we would drive by and would see it not usually busy, however, this past Friday I'm happy to report it was vibrant and busy. Good for you Masala Box! I've always enjoyed the food, drinks and ambiance, so I'm glad to see that other patrons are realizing the potential. When we do Indian food, we go IN broskys. We started with the tapas dishes - lollypop chicken, samosas and seekh kebab...fantastic! My wife loves the chicken tikka masala, and my regular dish is the tandoori whole chicken. Throw in some garlic naan and basmati rice and it's a dinner to remember. The specialty drinks add some ethnic flavor to an already immersive experience. I had the Sutra and she the Temptress. Finally, the waitress Lily, was very kind, diligent and accommodating, she basically worked wonders on a busy night. I'm happy to see Masala box getting the recognition it deserves! I will continue to support it, as it consistently delivered that Friday night atmospheric vibe that I always thrive.

I usually order delivery and have always had a good experience. I ordered delivery on a Saturday evening at 6:45 and our food arrived promptly at 7:30. My go to is the lamb biryani (spice level- Regular is the perfect amount of spice for me but if you do not like spicy then opt for the mild) The chicken biryani is also amazing! You basically can't go wrong with any of the biryanis. The garlic naan is better than the plain in my opinion. (Especially if you're a huge fan of garlic) Price for about 5 entrees, 2 naans, and one appetizer- $120

Once again a great night out at Masala Box. The food is fantastic & omg the cocktails! Kuran (sorry if I misspelled his name!) is the quintessential bartender...friendly, personable, knowledgeable and makes killer cocktails. We ate at the bar and had a great time discussing everything from the food, drinks, the pandemic and vaccinations to travel plans and bucket lists with him. Cocktail favorites are the lychee martini (the best anywhere according to my hubby) and the nirvana. Instead of getting 2 entrees we had several apps & 1 entree. For apps, we has the samosas (potato & pea and mushrooms & cheese)...always a go to choice. We also had the spring rolls (crunchy & delicious) and the spicy, stir fried chicken (a new favorite, unbelievably good!) For the entree we decided to try the chicken saag, which was creamy, gingery, garlicky and amazing! If you haven't been to Masala Box...try it, if you been there before...go back again! (We sure will!)

Went with the mild. Place is nice for sit down. I got take out. Spinach and potatoes were delish. So was the fish and sweet potato fries. Well seasoned. Nan was really good. Not too gummy. Thinner and tastier than other nan breads that I've had. Shrimp masala was a great as well.

Love Indian food, glad to finally have came across some great Indian food in the area! Didn't try anything I didn't like. I would definitely Recommend you give them a try.
