Mashti Malone's Ice Cream

Staff is super sweet, the store is clean, i like the ready to go options. the icecream is rich, thick, creamy, and almost like a “chewy” texture? it’s super incredible! I’d recommend the vegan pomegranate and Madagascar vanilla! 10/10 worth a try :)

One of the best ice cream shops in LA if not the best. Vegan flavors are also available, If you like Persian ice cream but you are vegan don’t worry they also have vegan Persian ice cream. Very tasty and creamy. Wonderful customer service.

As an avid sugar enthusiast a friend of mine recommended I try Persian ice cream and I was not disappointed! To my surprise the post covid era has not stopped them from allowing taste tests of the many flavors! After trying all of them (most given my nut allergy) I settled on “Creamy Rosewater” and “Rosewater sorbet” though “French Lavender” and “Persian Cucumber” came in a very close second and third! I wanted a traditional Persian ice cream experience as possible since I wasn’t able to try the iconic saffron ice cream! The flavor profiles of these ice creams were very different, the sweet was subtle rather than traditional americano ice cream that has super sugar upfront. There was literally no one inside the place, granted it’s January and 50 degrees outside, but doesn’t everyone crave ice cream in winter? It’s decorated pretty trendy and cute, exposed wood and light blue walls. It has inside and outside seating (patios open air area still attached to the building). Overall I definitely recommend it if you’re into sweets and want to try something different!

Amazing classically made ice-cream! I love exotic flavors and this place has many! I tried their cucumber, saffron-pistachio, and Turkish coffee flavors. All are delicious and the texture is amazingly soft and creamy. They also have the traditional flavors such as cholate, vanilla, and strawberry. I also had their pastries as seen in the photos. My apologies that I don't know what they are called but they were very sweet and yummy! Try their waffle cones and waffle cups! They have a unique flavor that reminds you cinnamon toast cereal!

Mango, coconut pineapple,pumpkin without the pie spice so the pumpkin flavor shines. Their star flavor is saffron rosewater pistachio and to me 3 bites.would overwhelm my tastebuds but the aroma is lovely. Orange water flavor is delicate. Well worth the 1/4 mile hike down the hill from our street parking. Highly reccomend!

Unique high-quality flavored ice cream. I was skeptical about the Saffron Rose Water ice cream but I was certainly impressed. The flavor reminds me of an ice cream I had long ago when visiting a Syrian market place. It also strangely reminded me of rice pudding that has a hint of rose water (one of my favorite desserts). The mint chocolate chip ice cream actually tasted like mint and not artificial. I will be going back to try more flavors. All in all, this spot is a MUST!

We heard all good things about this place, but were totally disappointed ! Faloudeh was a total disaster , dark creamy color as opposed to white , wired taste , we had to trash it ! Saffron ice cream too was a total failure, no where near what a traditional Persian Saffron ice cream should taste like ! neither the taste nor the texture were right, dumped into trash and never will we ever go back here !

It's an amazing place to try exotic kinds of ice creams. Mashti Malone's is my favorite place to have some desert with its amazing ice creams and extraordinary hospitality. The staff are very dedicated and are willing to help the customers find their favorite flavors. The mus-try flavors are definitely saffron-rosewater and falloodeh.

Persian food is great. Persian ice cream is also really good. This shop is located just south of Westwood, along with many other Persian restaurants in the area. Street parking is the ticket here. Yes, they have flavors like chocolate here but, for the love of ancient Persia, try something different and exotic if you come here . They have flavors that incorporate pistachio, ginger, rose water, almond, and other flavors that you don't normally find in your usual ice cream shop. The ice cream here is rich and creamy. You can also sample before you buy. Highly recommended.

After eating breakfast we made our way to Mashti Malone's in Los Angeles. This place is all about indulging your taste buds with delicious Persian inspired ice cream. So, I tried their iconic Mashti with saffron rosewater ice cream. Now, if you're looking for something traditional, this might not be the way to go. But if you're open to new flavors and experiences, then this ice cream sandwich is a must try! What makes it so special? The saffron and rosewater combo will take your taste buds on a journey like no other. The flavor is definitely exotic! Of course, it's not for everyone. If you're not a fan of strong spices or floral notes, this might not be your cup of tea or in this case, your scoop of ice cream. But if you're up for an adventure in flavor town then Mashti Malone's is the place to be!

What I Ordered: -The Malone $8.95 I heard about Mashti Malone's on Youtube. Mashti Malone has been in business for over 40 years. Mashti Malone's is classic American success story. Mashti Sirvani immigrated to the USA from Iran during the Iran Revolution in 1979. He eventually bought a pre-existing ice cream business called Mugsy Malone's in an effort to save money on buying a new sign. Mugsy was replaced with Mashti and Mashti Malone's was born. Mashti Malone's has three locations in LA. I recently went to the Westwood location as I'm never in the area of the original location. I decided to order one of the house specials. The Malone is a special where the ice cream is on top of a crispy round honey and rosewater zoolbia pastry with the scoop of ice cream of your choice. I was told the zoolbia pastry is similar to a funnel cake. I asked for some popular choices of ice cream and was told that the saffron flavor was very popular. I was allowed to sample three flavors. I liked the saffron and Turkish coffee flavored ice cream the most. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They allowed me to do two half scoops of saffron and Turkish ice cream. Those are some healthy sized scoops. I'm very satisfied with portion despite the price. The honey and rosewater zoolbia was a large pastry to eat especially after devouring so much ice cream. It was a very sweet pastry. I really didn't want to finish the pastry as it was that sweet. I don't like wasting food. The ice cream was very good. I'm glad that I ordered The Malone special because I got to try a Persian pastry that I've never had before along with some different flavored ice cream. I wouldn't order The Malone again now that I've tried it already. I'm looking forward to trying The Mashti rolled in pistachios and the Baklava Special. I will definitely be back to try some different flavored ice cream. FYI, they charge a 4% service charge. I was a bit disappointed by this, but the ice cream was so delicious. I forgot all about it!

I stopped in one afternoon with some coworkers for a sweet treat. This spot has been on my to-try list for a while and I'm so glad it lived up to the hype! The ice cream was so creamy and flavorful. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors! The small seating area in the space was really nice and it was completely open for my friends and I to enjoy our ice cream after getting it. I liked how the story for the restaurant was noted on the wall too; it felt like a really cute touch.

Was so excited to try this place after seeing the saffron ice cream sandwich on a YouTube video, but the one we got here didn't look much like the video. Seemingly different wafer cookies and no pistachios around the edges. Ice cream was fine enough, but can't get over how different this was from what we expected. Maybe the original location would have been better. Edit: the owner replied saying to get the pistachios you had to ask I just assumed that was the way the sandwich was made to order! Changing to 4/5, but would've been nice had the employee scooping for us or the menu offered that more clearly as an add-on.

Mashti Malone's ice cream will really put you on cloud nine! There's a variety of exotic flavors; the most notable were rosewater, orange blossom, and Persian cucumber. The service was excellent! I ordered a scoop of creamy rosewater ice cream. It's a generous scoop with lovely floral notes and frozen bits of rosewater. The ice cream shop is clean and cool. Overall, it's a great place to visit for extraordinary ice cream.

Fantastic ice cream here! Located in a great neighborhood and Persian owned. Bunch of food places around this area...so this place is just great for a dessert right after your meal!! If it's your first time going here, TRY THE SAFFRON ICE CREAM! It is tasty and will just take you to heaven ! Prices are reasonable and staff are nice. Five star.

I've been here a bunch of times and I just love the Persian flavors here! I also came here after seeing it on one of Bobby Flay's Food Network shows and he raved about it. I've had the ginger rosewater, which was good, but my favorite is the rosewater sorbet and the herbal snow sorbet. Really delicious! Street parking is available and the service is super quick. And there's lots of seating so you can enjoy your sweet treat right away.

Been here a few times now. But first time reviewing. Good ice cream. On the very sweet side. Tasty flavors. I like the almond and pistachio flavor. They give generous scoops and let you taste different flavors. There is inside seating. Line moves quick.

the flavors at this shop is so diverse! the persian cucumber was very refreshing & wasn't too sweet. i wanted to try the baklava but was disappointed. it wasn't crispy & tasted a bit stale. either than that, everything was good :)

I finally tried Mashti Malone's after waiting for many months while they had their store with signs of "Coming soon!" that I had forgotten about it. Many many flavors to choose from! Fridge filled with pints of their most famous flavors, tables ready to be sat on to enjoy some ice cream, limited parking behind the shop but metered parking in front and some residential parking but be sure to read the parking signs! I went with the two scoops, a little less than $8. Green tea and Safron. Subtle flavors, nothing too strong even in the safron ice cream. I enjoyed it and would like to come back and try other flavors. They also have plenty of cone, wafers rolled in toppings for an extra buck, and also some with baklava on top! Unique variations of ice creams.

I love the ice cream here! My favorites are the French Lavender, Saffron Rose, and Alphanso Mango. The guy that works there was nice and let me try a few flavors.

Was excited for this spot as I had heard great reviews about their ice cream. I got the pistachio almond ice cream. The flavors were there, but it tasted a bit artificial and not as creamy as I thought it would be.

Mashti Malone's scoops uncommon ice cream flavors which perhaps weren't my cuppa tea. Persian flavors with strong floral notes like Creamy Rosewater & Saffron Rosewater had a sticky, gummy consistency but melted quickly. We were also underwhelmed by the less-unique Butter Pecan. Not a fan of the tastes & texture of Mashti Malone's ice cream.

SERVICE FEE ALERT - Things that should not have a service fee - Ice cream! You want to raise the prices, raise the prices, but don't gouge all your customers with a fee they likely won't notice that DEFINITELY IS NOT REQUIRED. They had already raised the price of the beloved kid's scoop 33% 3 months ago. Been coming to this location for years since it opened, but now never coming back due to this deceptive and dishonest business practice. BOYCOTT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!

Saw this place in a YouTube video a couple years ago, now I finally got to try it out!! One, there are so many flavors to choose from. Two, they're all so good so it was such a difficult decision. I did decide on safron rose, rose fadooleh, and a regular ol cookies n cream. The fadooleh was honestly my favorite. I don't know what the noodle-like things were inside but I loved it, and the rose flavor was sooo nice!! Someone tell me not to go again tomorrow!!

One of the best ice cream places in LA in my opinion! The creamy rosewater is a classic. A "double scoop" is actually 4 scoops. You couldn't get samples during COVID but now you can sample flavors. The store has a good amount of seating with a couple of tables.

Delicious Persian ice cream. Definitely try the classic Faloudeh Shirazi with cherry sauce.

Been coming here weekly for a couple of years now. Usually we see the same revolving team of friendly faces but last visit the employees had changed. When we ordered sprinkles for $1 we got a tiny little side that didn't come close to filling the container. The ice cream is already on the pricey side so you would think they wouldn't be stingy with the toppings. Whoever was training the new employees was not very helpful either. Hoping these new changes aren't permanent.

I've been to the Silver lake and Westwood location(both awesome).They have amazing flavors and offer samples (highly suggest you try). Loved the Orange blossom and French lavender. Also, the rose saffron is good!!! The cucumber was so good. You won't be disappointed :)

I really enjoyed the Orange blossom ice cream. It is really interesting to have a delicate floral flavor in a rich and creamy dessert. There are so many other exotic flavors to choose from, but the workers are very generous with the samples to help narrow down your decision. I have not had Persian ice cream before, and really enjoyed the unique texture. It is chewier and a little bit stretchy. Some of the flavors have chopped up rice noodles in it as well. There is a graphic on the wall that says Mashti Malone is the favorite ice cream of American Airlines and Louis Vuitton. I don't know if that is true, but it definitely is my new favorite.

What can I say about Mashti Malone's? Their ice cream creations are such a delight! I am a first timer to Persian Ice Cream flavors. They are very similar to Indian flavors, especially the Falooda and the Pistachio Saffron flavors. The Falooda ice cream tastes exactly like an Indian Falooda drink. You get rose water and the milky cardamom taste. The vermicelli noodles makes the ice cream complete. I don't know if chia seeds are a thing in Persian falooda, but it would be nice to see them in this ice cream. The Pistachio Saffron tastes exactly like a pistachio kulfi (ice cream made in india.) It's very rich, creamy, sweet, and you also get saffron, rose water, and cardamom notes. Not many people like lots of pistachios in their ice cream but I am one that loves a lot of pistachios in mines and this ice cream overloads it with them and it's like tasting heaven in my mouth! I took samples of other flavors and liked quite a few. There was a cucumber one and a Turkish coffee one I tried and all were delicious. I am glad there's a location closer to me now. Commuting to West Hollywood for ice cream was a struggle in itself. Westwood location is so much closer to me and can enjoy anytime I wish! :)

Mashti Malone's has been serving up Persian ice cream for 40+ years. Their ice cream has no preservatives, no corn syrup, and no artificial flavors/colors. I was having lunch across the street when I saw that this 2nd location of theirs opened up in the Westwood area. They have 30+ flavors to choose from, including some really unique flavors like: French lavender, Persian cucumber, alfonso mango, orange rosewater, pomegranate, and saffron rosewater with pistachio. After sampling a few flavors I settled on 3 scoops. (3 scoops - $8 /2 scoops - $7 / 1 scoop - $5) - I went with pistachio & almond, Turkish coffee, and saffron rosewater with pistachio (their most popular flavor). All of the flavors that I tried were so rich and cream and tasted amazing! The Turkish coffee has a bold and slightly bitter flavor just like freshly brewed Turkish coffee and really impressed me. I loved the nutty flavor of the pistachio and almond ice cream, definitely one of the better ones out there. The saffron rosewater with pistachio was extremely creamy and I can see why this unique flavor is a favorite here. Overall I was really impressed with the ice cream at Mashti Malone's. It definitely lived up to the hype. The unique flavors and creamy ice cream easily make this one of the best ice cream shops out there and I definitely would visit this spot again if I was in the area and wanted some ice cream.

A Persian owned ice cream paradise! A Persian treat is to have the Faloodeh with lemon syrup and cherry syrup on top.... And let me tell you it doesn't disappoint. The faloodeh ice cream has this thin type of noodle in it and the texture compliments the ice cream very well. The syrups add the perfect sweet/tart/sour flavor to each bite. Definitely branch out and try this instead of your typical vanilla choice. I can't wait to go back for more. I'm only rating it 4 stars because they were out of many flavors and I really wanted to try the rosewater flavor. The wait was also a bit long because they only had one employee working during a busy time.

I was buying Mashti Malone's ice cream at Tehran Supermarket before I finally had the chance to go in the store. I was so surprised by all the flavors they had. My favorites being faloodeh and bastani (saffron, rose and pistachio) I had to get the OGs. Both were amazing and to this day I'm still thinking about it. They have all natural ingredients in their ice cream and it's not that bad for you while still tasting amazing!

This place has the best ice cream, way better than saffron and rose. The 1 star is for the kids that work here. When you walk in they look confused to be there, if you ask them a question about their product they seem even more confused.

love this place! The flavors are very fragrant and unique. I got the cucumber flavored ice cream and it was subtle, refreshing, and sweet. The service is great and they give samples and generous portions. They also have a small parking lot, highly recommend coming here and trying the ice cream :)

Stumbled upon this creamery by a mistake. I was in search for another building and didn't find it. Passed the time by visiting the parlor. The establishment has it's doors wide open which aids in ushering in new patrons. Not crowded. Ordered the mint chocolate chip milkshake. Decent customer service.

Much better than their competitor which shall not be named, haha. I've had authentic Persian ice cream in Iran before, and this is about as close as you're going to get from an ice cream shop in Los Angeles. Friendly employees, tasty ice cream. The music was a bit too loud for my taste, but that's my own preference so it's fine. I'll definitely be going back.

I had a terrible experience. The young boy that was working today during the evening was rude and unhelpful, and rolling his eyes when ordering. I had a free scoop voucher, however the staff was dismissive and did not honor the voucher. The owner should reconsider providing training with customer service and better work ethics. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will not be returning.

I was craving both baklava and ice cream one night so we set out to find a magical place that serves both. This location in Hollywood seemed to fit the bill. It's a small shop in a center with a decent amount of parking. There's no seating inside and a few tables outside. Immediately I noticed a strong smell of what I believe was saffron although an employee told another customer that it was the smell of the cones cooking. Either way, it might have been overwhelming to sit inside with it anyway. We sampled a couple of flavors and I was able to baklava with my date ice cream. The service wasn't very friendly though. We did seem to be an inconvenience to the employee waiting on us so it kind of ruined my foodie joy. But, we enjoyed our ice cream at the tables outside and the unique flavor selection would be enough to get me back in again.

The positive about this Persian ice cream store is it has convenient parking. Consistently, even on a Saturday evening, it has a very small line. I think the reason is while Mashti Malone was the first Persian ice cream in LA, it was in Hollywood, it's not as good as Saffron and Rose Persian ice cream north on Westwood Blvd. The Mashti ice cream doesn't have as many exotic flavors and the texture of the ice cream is not as creamy as Saffron and Rose.

The vegan mango ice cream was slimy as if it hadn't been scooped in a while hence it tasted like freeze burn. What a shame for a so called reputable ice cream shop to serve stale, old ice cream and what an easy way to lose customers over greed. When I went back to tell the server about their odd tasting ice cream, suggesting not to sell it to others, his response was "oh" !

I wish I had a Persian ice cream place close to me, as this stuff is so addicting! This place is similar to saffron and rose but I would say their ice cream is even creamier and they have more flavors! It's lesser known but honestly just as good, If not better for some flavors. For example, I like saffron and rose's cucumber ice cream because it is more icy and refreshing, but this place locks down the staple flavors such as dulce de leche and the banana nut with the creaminess! Can't wait to Come back!

This place really brings me back to Asia and the Asian Icecram flavors you can't find anywhere else in the world. Ice cream flavors like pistachio, rose water, and kulfi are ones that are so unique to South Asia and the Middle East it's a shame we don't see them there this often. This place gives us south Asians a fix of the ice cream we have always wanted. The wafer and the jalebi is amazing and crispy. For those who have never experienced the flavors of South Asia, this place is a must come!

The service was terrible. The young girl working at 12:20pm on 03/17/2024 was busy talking to someone on the phone through an ear bud and acted really put out that we were even here. Regardless of the product, I will not be back to support this business. I would highly recommend Handels as they are always quick and pleasant

I got the coffee flavor! Love that for only $5 you get a pretty big serving, it was like 2 scoops so it seemed like one BIGGGG scoop. I wish they had more outdoor seating as it was filled when I was there. They let you sample flavors too. Will be back if in area. Had been to their Hollywood location decades ago and liked it too!

I decided to try Mashtin Malone's instead of my usual ice cream haunt in Westwood, and I was happy with my experience. I went early during a weekday afternoon, and the shop was not busy at all. I appreciated the attentive and fast service, and there was a wide variety of flavors to try. I ended up selecting orange blossom and saffron pistachio after sampling a few flavors, and the flavors and creamy texture were great! Given my positive experience, I would not hesitate to visit again when I'm in the area!

Absolutely fantastic and unique ice cream options that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. My son was under the weather and wanted "special" ice cream. We found Mashri Malone's and he was not disappointed. Loved their fresh artisanal ice creams.

Came here after celebrating my fiancée's bday dinner which was conveniently across the street. My fiancé got the saffron rose water ice cream with baklava and it was creamy, floral, nutty and the sweetness of the baklava paired well with his ice cream. Unfortunately I liked his better than mine. I got the date ice cream with the Malone. The date ice cream was delicious, sweet and had the perfect amount of chopped dates. However paired with the Malone it was overwhelming rich, drenched in honey and hard to slice with just my spoon. I just didn't anticipate it to be that sweet. If I go back I would definitely go for the baklava or the mashti.

I feel bad posting this, but I just did not like the ice cream we got. Maybe I have to try another flavor. It felt not creamy at all and flavorless. Owner responded right away to my complaint and for that I want to up a star. I will have to try this place again.

This new Persian ice cream place opened up near me recently, and I was excited to try given all the Persian ice cream competition in the area. Here was my experience: Pros: - parking in the back, which was convenient and always appreciated, especially in West LA - service was friendly and prompt - good amount of flavor selection Cons - too sweet - absolutely too sweet - flavor was nothing special. Underwhelming. Bleh. AND TOO SWEET! - flavors are fairly standard, not super unique except for the cucumber one (and I did not like it at all) Honestly, with so many ice cream shops in the area, you really have to have some special OOMPH to stand out. Saffron and Rose is just plain delicious with well-balanced flavors. They have interesting flavors that actually taste good and leave you wanting more. Bloomfield creamery has awesome edible cookie dough and also yummy ice cream. This place has mediocre tasting ice cream and a cool concept of a waffle-ice cream sandwich, but it didn't taste good (waffle tasted cheap, like those cake cones you get at Rite Aid). I will not be returning.

I really learned the meaning of self-control when Mashti Malone's opened within walking distance. It's a struggle not to just pop in regularly for a treat! Unfortunately, there's no easy way to see the flavors until you get to the front of the line, where there's a sign listing them all, at which point you may feel pressure to quickly make a decision. They have a lot of flavors, from the traditional chocolate to Persian flavors like Saffron Rosewater with Pistachio. A single scoop, which can be split into two different flavors, is $5. For the same price, you can also get the Mashti Special, which is a single scoop between two wafers. I've tried the Alfonso Mango, Coconut Pineapple, Date and Banana Walnut. I like that the ice cream isn't too sweet, so the natural flavors can shine through. There's a small parking lot in back and street parking in the residential area.

I live in the neighborhood so I came to see why this place is always busy and am happy I did. The cherry faloodeh is a must try! The other flavors I tried have all been good as well and the service is always excellent. I've already come back twice!

I grew up eating Mashti Malone's ice cream, visited recently and ordered the ginger rose water- so amazing!! The service was fantastic as well, they let me try several flavors before purchasing. Prices are higher than Saffron and Rose down the street, but I appreciated that they had a junior scoop, which was the perfect amount of ice cream.
