"To explore Japanese cuisine, the chef left his native Catalonia for Japan, where he opened a restaurant in Ginza to spread Catalan food culture in this country. His own roots, the Spanish soil and Japanese ingredients are the three keys to his fare. With the theme of ‘sea and mountain’, his prix fixe meals begin with tapas and proceed to arroz, the indispensable rice cuisine. Catalan home cooking gets a facelift with modern techniques." - Michelin Inspector

The staff was warm, attentive, and accommodating — we were seated at the counter to watch the kitchen at work, which was a highlight. I was hesitant about the wine pairing, but the recommendation met me halfway and ended up being beautifully matched to each dish. We chose the largest chef’s tasting menu (probably too ambitious!) and while we had to skip a dish from being too full, everything we tried was thoughtfully plated and showcased clean, balanced flavors with a strong Catalan influence. Desserts were stunning and delicious. Perfect spot for a quiet, elevated night out with a focus on clean, ingredient-driven food.

Visited this charming restaurant with my partner for our wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed. Located above a Loft department store just a few floors below it, we were surprised at how they managed to set up such a beautiful and mesmerizing space within the confines of a generic shopping building. The cozy atmosphere coupled with the spectacular night view of the city was an interesting experience and made us excited for what’s to come. For our visit this time, we went with their 14,500 yen course, which is the cheaper option next to their most comprehensive course (which costs 19,000 yen). Firstly, the tapas were phenomenal and creative. Rustic flavors yet modern in presentation. Every new bite was a fun adventure on its own. Everything in between afterwards - the entrées and main dishes - were all solid and nothing missed a beat. I was served a venison due to dietary restrictions (you’d get a super tasty-looking pork otherwise), and it was the softest venison I’ve ever had so far - incredible mouth-feel and taste. Lastly, the desserts and the sweets at the end was an amazing send-off from our 3-hour long meal. We wanted more of the pineapple jelly cubes that we had. It was probably the highlight of that final section. As part of our anniversary, they also gifted us with a congratulatory card presented on a candle-holding contraption, which was so sweet and unexpected, and a gesture we highly appreciate (was expecting a message written on a plate like how most restaurants usually do it, but we liked this better as it allowed us to bring the card home). I cannot praise enough the quality of the service as well - our servers were professional, thorough, equipped with great attitude, and the waiter that served us, Masahara-san (sorry if I got your name wrong!), spoke fluent English, which I think most foreign visitors would appreciate. As we left, we were greeted out by the head chef, Chef Mateu, who gifted us small packets of their (homemade?) candy - it was a treat and we’re so grateful for this level of hospitality. Overall, this was one of the best upscale, fine-dining restaurants we’ve been to in Tokyo in terms of both quality and value, and we would definitely come back again just to experience it all over again. Thank you Masia team for making our first wedding anniversary dinner one that we won’t soon forget!

Masia serves modern yet authentic Catalán cuisine. There isn't a dish that I don't like, and I especially enjoy the Catalán white beans, the fish and the rice. The beans dish has a subtile taste of savory and Umami. The fish is cooked to perfection, tender yet flavorful. I asked the chef how they cooked it and he revealed all the steps and tips, saying there is no secret in his kitchen, which I truly appreciate. The rice is not a typical or even stereotypical paella, but cooked in a traditional Catalán way, which turned out to be a flavor bomb that has layers of textures and flavors. The service is as great as the dishes. All the staff including the chef are friendly, attentive, and always introduce the dishes and ingredients with a smile and a sense of pride. Overall it is an enjoyable experience that exceeds my high expectations.

I did not expect to visit Tokyo and have the most amazing Catalan meal I’ve ever had. We made a reservation for 4 on a Friday night and sat at the bar. We were greeted personally by Chef Mateu and he explained in great detail all of the courses from the “Mar y Montanya” tasting menu. Each one was a perfect balance of flavor and size. I am so glad we dined here and we will be coming back the next time we are in Tokyo!

All dishes are more than perfect!!! Beautiful decoration, taste, harmony… spectacular!! The chef had leaned cooking from his grandmother. His passion is there! So makes such a warm tasting. Also his creation was really detailed and heart full. It totally changed our Spanish cuisine image!

My friend and I truly enjoyed our dining experience here. From start to finish, everything was nothing short of exceptional. Each plate was elegantly presented like a work of art. Literally every dish was cooked to perfection and every bite revealed layers of complex flavors that danced on our palate. They also have a great selection of Spanish wines and I highly recommend the wine pairing on their menu. Chef Mateu’s hands-on approach and warm hospitality, paired with the exquisite Catalan dishes, made for a truly memorable dining experience. I cannot wait to return and savor more of their culinary delights.
