"It's worth braving the frenetic traffic along Ipanema’s narrow streets to eat at this modern but relaxed restaurant with a contemporary bistro feel and a kitchen that opens onto the dining room to savour chef Danilo Parah’s innovative and contemporary cuisine. His recipes showcase ingredients of the very highest quality, including extremely fresh seafood, in dishes such as the unforgettable creamy rice with octopus, and the mouthwatering and perfectly cooked steak served with a truffled aligot mash. Not forgetting the masterfully prepared and delicate spaghetti with beurre blanc and braised prawns. The dining experience and atmosphere are enhanced by Mäska’s array of refreshing cocktails, which are an absolute must." - Michelin Inspector

2 Days in Rio de Janeiro

"Just a few minutes from Arpoador, in the heart of Ipanema, Mäska is the perfect place for lunch. The restaurant is overseen by pre-eminent chef Danilo Parah, who conjures up cuisine that combines delightful recipes featuring his own innovative touch with hints of Asian flavors. In the kitchen, which opens onto the dining room, he and his team work tirelessly to create dishes that range from raw fish with mango & ginger jelly and a tangerine ponzu sauce to more substantial offerings such as pork ramen with soft-cooked egg, copa-lombo charcuterie, and black nori. Located at the heart of Rua Joana Angélica, the restaurant has a modern bistro-style feel and attracts a wide cross-section of customers who fill up the tables of this welcoming dining space which has become a must-visit in this neighborhood." - The MICHELIN Guide

"It's worth braving the frenetic traffic along Ipanema’s narrow streets to eat at this modern but relaxed restaurant with a contemporary bistro feel and a kitchen that opens on to the dining room in which you can savour chef Danilo Parah’s “innovative and emotional” cuisine. Here, the chef showcases Asian ingredients in contemporary dishes that are generous, colourful and pleasing on the palate. The impressively varied menu is complemented by dishes inspired by ingredients available in the market, such as the highly popular spaghetti with beurre blanc and braised prawns. The dining experience and atmosphere are enhanced by Mäska’s array of refreshing cocktails." - Michelin Inspector

Second time that we have been to Maska in 3 years, and the place still holds the most amazing attention to detail as always. They have been in the Michelin Guide for years, which is an amazing sign! We had a steak tartare which was amazing (it is an entreé but if you don't eat that much, you can easily have that as a main) (R$ 79) and a Sliced beef with triple butter gnocchi (R$ 149) which was the most delicious gnocchi I've ever had! For desert, the waiter suggested the Chocolate cakey (R$ 36) and we were speechless. The most amazing cake we've ever had. The waiters and extremely friendly and polite, food is impeccable, wine list is great, decoration is stunning... 10/10 always! It is expensive but super worth it, and they also offer a lunch menu which is an alright price. Cannot wait to go back, again...

Visited from from Toronto, Canada. This restaurant is very elegant/ chic and in a very nice area. The food menu is phenomenal and I would I highly recommend their Rib or Octopus main dish as well as their shrimp empanadas appetizer. The negative side is their service is not that great. We speak both English and Portuguese and they didn’t seem super friendly at all especially with our R$1000.00 Bill. Overall great food but friendly service can be improved.

Maska is a contemporary restaurant that features Asian and modern influences. While the food is extraordinary, the service needs improvement to match it. Our appetizers took 35 minutes to arrive, and our main courses took a little over 40 minutes. Although I appreciate the honesty of the servers in apologizing for the delay, I believe they should hire more staff in the kitchen. There are a couple of must-tries on the menu: the cauliflower and the short rib, both of which are staples. The restaurant is quite small, and there was a wait on Tuesday night. However, the atmosphere and interior design are outstanding.

Amazing Michelin starred experience in Ipanema one of my favorite meals in Rio. Lovely service. Amazing food and wine (I had the seafood gyoza, 12 hour ribs, and apple pie for dessert). Everyone loved their meals. Definitely come here for a delicious fancy but unpretentious meal!

Really good restaurant. We arrived late and our 4 years old son was super tired and starving, I told to the staff and they were amazing with us. His food arrived fast, and everything was delicious, mainly the ribs plate that my husband had ordered. We also had drinks, and they were also delicious, so we strongly recommend it.

One of my favorite places in Rio. The service is always top notch and the food is amazing. For appetizers, the cauliflower karaage is incredible, we ended up getting 3 orders of it. The burrata was fantastic - creamy and luscious, and the taste was complimented by the acidity of the roasted tomatoes. For the mains, we enjoyed the 12 hour ribs and the steak aligot. Overall, the quality of the food was great.

Food decoration is nice but apologize to say that should improve food taste will be nice. Moreover, the second waiter guy (a bit chubby) should improve his service mind and learn how to do good service. Don't throw or slide the dessert dish with fork and spoon on it! When check, he put credit card machine on the table, we paid, he checked and turn his back immediatly and gone. Never get this kind of service manner in any restuarant before. We would like to pay service charge only for the first waiter who is very humble, nice and good manner. (maybe end of his shift when we visited)

That was the best dining experience we had. The service exceeded our expectations : the waiter described the recommended dishes in details and such a way that it was watering my mouth and was constantly checking if everything was good. The gyoza and cauliflower were such a great starter, that by the time steaks came we were half full. The caipirinhas had plenty of cachaça in it and were delicious - the traditional is better than maracuja though. We couldn’t resist ordering the dessert and if you have a very sweet tooth - you’d definitely like Basque cheesecake, it was good but a little bit too sweet to our taste. The waiter said we should have ordered the tangerine dessert instead. The bill for 2 was 550 Real. I would definitely come here for a fancy dinner again.
