Best Restaurants in Houston’s Memorial Area | Eater Houston

"This storied Houston restaurant, owned by the Masraff family, may be new to the Memorial area after relocating from its longtime home on Post Oak Boulevard, but it remains timeless and elegant. The dining room is fit for special occasions; the lively bar and lounge serves as a fitting backdrop to savor something from the restaurant’s acclaimed wine list. While the space may be unfamiliar and new, guests may still recognize dishes like Masraff’s classic wild mushroom risotto." - Marcy de Luna

My dining experience at Masraff's for Houston Restaurant Weeks was truly exceptional. The elegant ambiance and impeccable service set the stage for an unforgettable meal, and the menu they offered for the event was outstanding. For my appetizer, I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Vol Au Vent. The pastry was light and flaky, and it was filled with a generous portion of delicious jumbo lump crab, served in a rich and savory mushroom and white wine sauce. It was a perfect start to the evening. The main course was the Pacific Lane Snapper. The fish was cooked to perfection—moist and flaky with a beautifully seared skin. It was served over a delectable sauce and alongside a flavorful rice and vegetable medley. The combination of textures and flavors was fantastic and showcased the chef's expertise. Dessert was the perfect ending. The Golden Delicious Apple Cobbler was a masterpiece. The crumble topping was buttery and crisp, complementing the warm, spiced apples inside. Topped with a generous scoop of what I believe was bourbon vanilla ice cream and a fresh mint leaf, it was a truly decadent and comforting treat. My wife had the Banana Bread Trifle, which was equally impressive. Served in a charming glass jar, it was a layered dessert with rich banana custard, fluffy vanilla whipped cream, and a satisfying Nilla wafer crumble. Masraff's delivered an incredible fine dining experience for a great cause. Every dish was a work of art, and the quality of the ingredients and presentation was top-notch. I highly recommend it for a special occasion or just to treat yourself to an amazing meal.

Masraff's provided catering services for our wedding at the Houston Museum of Natural Science back in April. They did an incredible job with the menu creation and quality of the food, with some issues in serving to the guests during cocktail hour. For the chef, we would give a 10/5 if we could! We asked whether we would be able to mix various Indian and Mexican dishes, and the head chef came back with a full fusion menu that we were surprised by! The tastings were incredible, and they worked with us to fine tune the menu. On our wedding day, the food itself was incredible. Our guests loved it, and we heard many glowing reviews. It tasted delicious the next day as well (when we were able to fully enjoy). We especially enjoyed the rose-infused fusion tres leches that they created. However, there were two issues with planning out cocktail hour. While we paid per guest, Masraff's did not send out enough appetizers for all of our guests to enjoy. We heard glowing reviews from the ones who were able to taste the appetizers, but a number of our guests mentioned that they were never able to try the appetizers since they were gone quickly as soon as the servers came out. In addition, Masraff's did not stock enough ingredients for one of our signature drinks, and they ran out within the first 20 minutes. Luckily, they were able to get more later in the night for dinner, but it was disappointing that we, as the bride and groom, were unable to try our own signature drink despite asking for it in the first hour of the reception. Overall, we had a great time and really appreciated Masraff's ability to create a custom menu.

Review of Masraff's Catering - I cannot recommend working with Brooke and the Masraff's team enough for your big occasion. If you want a seamless day with excellent service, delicious food (everyone told us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding), and a team that goes the extra mile for you, look no further. Masraff's provided full service catering (including set-up and tear-down), bar service, late-night snack, and cut and served our cake. The team also worked directly with our rentals vendor to ensure that our rentals (e.g., tables, bar facade, specialty plates, napkins, etc.) were perfectly placed and returned on time. Brooke, Jeffrey, and Mr. Masraff were flexible, professional, and so kind to us on the day and in the months leading up to it. From going to our venue to personally measure each space to ensure our tables would fit in a tight space, to giving us flexibility on a rain plan (down to a couple of days before!), to crafting a delicious signature mocktail--the level of dedication that we experienced was truly unmatched. Thank you to the team for making our day so wonderful--we are so, so grateful! (all photos c/o our wonderful photographer Allie Ryann Photography)

A friend and I went for lunch. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. We shared the calamari, fried green tomato’s, crab cake and Caesar salad. I got the redfish and risotto and she got a filet. Everything was cooked perfectly. We also shared the apple crisp. Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Masraff's in Houston. Everything was perfect—from the elegant and welcoming atmosphere to the outstanding service. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the young boy who looked after my sister and me was so polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was genuinely warm and down-to-earth. And the food? Absolutely amazing—easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Houston. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Masraff's is truly a gem, and I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

An excellent place to have a good, classy dinner. One can invite friends or have a romantic dinner if desired. The restaurant itself is pretty old, and you will have the owner meet and greet you. I would highly recommend this place for a dinner.

Masraff’s: A Timeless Favorite in Houston’s Foodie Scene Masraff’s has been a staple in the Houston dining scene for decades — and for good reason. The food and service are consistently exceptional, every single time. Let’s talk about the calamari. Hands down, the best in town. I devoured it so fast I didn’t even stop to take a photo (which says it all). For entrées, the Hubby ordered the cod while I went with the ribeye — both were well prepared and packed with flavor. The ribeye was a tad overcooked. I like my steaks medium rare. The steak I received was medium. But it still tasted yummy. And those Brussels sprouts? Massive and delicious! I genuinely love this place — and not just because Russell and Tony are longtime friends. They’ve created a formula that works: elevated cuisine, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that keeps you coming back. On our most recent visit, our waiter Barry was outstanding. Service is everything to me, and Barry — along with the entire Masraff’s team — gets it exactly right.

Masraff’s: A Benchmark for Fine Dining in Houston Dining at Masraff’s is a masterclass in refined hospitality and culinary excellence, setting the standard for upscale restaurants in Houston. From the moment you enter, the elegant yet welcoming ambiance envelops you, complemented by attentive staff and the personal touch of the Masraff family, who are known to greet guests and ensure every visit feels special. The Meal Our evening began with the Texas quail, a standout starter. The quail arrived perfectly deboned, making it effortless to enjoy every juicy, tender bite. The subtle sherry vinaigrette added a delicate brightness, enhancing the natural flavor of the meat—a testament to the kitchen’s attention to both preparation and presentation. Next, the ahi tuna was a revelation. Freshness is paramount at Masraff’s, and it was evident in the vibrant color and melt-in-your-mouth texture of the tuna. Each slice was expertly seared, locking in a buttery richness that paired beautifully with the accompanying garnishes. The Alaskan cod followed, showcasing the kitchen’s deft hand with seafood. The cod was flaky and moist, with a subtle sweetness that spoke to its quality and careful sourcing—Masraff’s is renowned for serving only wild-caught fish, and the difference is unmistakable. Dessert: A Showstopper The tiramisu pancetta was nothing short of extraordinary. This creative twist on a classic Italian dessert layered the familiar coffee and mascarpone flavors with a savory-sweet pancetta accent, resulting in a dessert that was both innovative and deeply satisfying. It’s rare to find a dessert that surprises and delights in equal measure, but Masraff’s tiramisu pancetta managed to do just that, providing a memorable finale to the meal. Atmosphere and Service Masraff’s delivers an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and comfortable, making it ideal for celebrations, business dinners, or a romantic night out. The staff are consistently attentive and knowledgeable, guiding diners through the menu and wine list with genuine enthusiasm. The wine program is exceptional, with an extensive, expertly curated selection that has earned accolades from Wine Spectator. Final Thoughts Masraff’s is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Each dish is crafted with precision and passion, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance strikes a perfect balance between luxury and warmth. Whether you’re a longtime Houstonian or a visitor, Masraff’s is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking the pinnacle of fine dining in the city.

Yelp
OMG incredible experience. This was my first time at Masraff's (my wife has gone countless times and always raves about it). I got the filet mignon - near perfection. The cobbler was spectacular. I also got to try the Chilean sea bass (sorry we ate it all before getting a photo). Overall the flavor and seasoning was spot on. Entrees came out hot and quite pleasant. The service was top notch as you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. And the ambiance was also quite nice and clean. I would definitely come here again and recommend everyone try it. Lastly, the owner (Mr. Masraff) came around and checked with everyone on the quality of the food and our satisfaction level with the whole experience. We of course told him all was quite well. Rock on, Masraff's! Thanks for the party in my mouth.

Yelp
Discounted fine dining - thanks HRW! A bougee vibe for my fancy people! I had a nice dinner here with a gal pal. The table settings and wine displays put you in awe once you enter the dining area. Staff was friendly and dressed to the nines to serve you. During our dining experience, the Manager/Owner (his last name was Masraff) came by to check on us. This always adds a special touch to the dinner experience. My HRW food picks: Crispy Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - A wonderful start to the meal! I really enjoyed the coulis. 6oz Cab Filet Mignon - Cooked perfectly medium rare. The lobster potato souffle was yummy, and I wanted more! Coffee Creme Brulee - I like coffee, and I like creme brulee, why not have them together?? This dessert wasn't terrible, but I didn't love it. The strawberry margarita was not to die for, unfortunately. Perhaps I should have gone with a smooth glass of wine! I would definitely return here for a special occasion or event.

Yelp
Great spot for a work dinner. Service cadence felt a little slow / off but that is the only reason I docked a star. Food was solid - jumbo shrimp cold app was great as was the quail. The clam chowder was a 7/5 rating for me - soo good on a cold day and amazing flavors. I had the Australian rack of lamb which was good, but not great to me. Drinks were solid - maple old fashioned hit the spot.

Yelp
My office had an appreciation dinner here the other night and let me tell you, EVERYTHING was amazing! Not pictured is the side of Brussels sprouts. Let me tell you, I have never tasted Brussels sprouts this delicious before. The staff were professional and quick with requests. They were also helpful with recommendations and drink orders. We all tried different items and everyone loved what they had. Valet is offered if needed. The parking garage is free and really close so walking isn't an issue. The restaurant itself was beautiful and we could hear each other at the opposite ends of the table.10/10

Yelp
I had been anticipating a try of Masraff's, it's a interesting location in a new development and they carry the promise of fresh line caught fish. I thought the interior design was upscale and a little minimalist. Normally seafood focused restaurants can't help but throw maritime decor on the wall, wasn't the case here. Our server was extremely engaging and knowledgeable about the menu. It was evident that he'd been apart of the company for a while and had insight into exactly how they operate. Excellent service is always a good sign for me. The signature garlic seared calamari we got for the table is absolutely a dish you need to try before you leave. Started us off on a really high note! I got the catch of the day, which was a King Salmon, and was happy with the presentation and technique, skin on style was done well. The fish was overcooked and under salted for my preference, though I didn't ask for a slightly medium cook on it to be fair. I had figured that it at higher end spots like I've been to before that they cook salmon to a medium temp. Two others who joined us got the red snapper and were happy with their entire plate it seemed. We also ordered the meatloaf upon suggestion from our server, we kinda chuckled at the idea of meatloaf at a seafood restaurant, but it ended up being really nice. No wonder he said people were asking for it to come back. We had a very unfortunate dish, one at our table order a fish and chips (a pretty safe order imo) that came out truly wrong. The fish (Cod) came out so overcooked that it turned into a squeaky and tough block. My buddy didn't complain as it was seemingly such an obvious mistake that we had just hoped to get through the meal without making a scene. My hope is that this was a specific to us issue and that the rest of the nice reviews at masraffs help paint the whole picture vs our 1 time visit.

Yelp
I love how conveniently located Masraff's is! Right off the feeder of i10, it is the perfect location for a nice meal. When you pull in, there is valet. At the time of our visit, valet service was $8. The door was opened for us, which was such an amazing touch, and we were welcomed by everyone. Our waiter Barry, was so friendly!! We ordered from the HRW menu. I ordered the crab cake, filet, and coffee crème brûlée. My husband ordered the wedge salad, filet, and crème brûlée as well. The appetizers were delicious! My crab cake was AMAZING!!! If I weren't in public, I would have licked the extra sauce up. Thankfully there was bread I could dip into it. The bread and butter they brought to our table was fantastic. Our steaks arrived and my husband's was not cooked enough and mine was cooked too much. Normally, I would have just switched steaks, except my husband got an 8 oz and I a 6. Once they cooked my husband's a little bit more, everything was great. The steaks were so tender and flavorful. The side potatoes were delicious with the crab added in. Very unique and so yummy. Desserts, omg. They were huge! And very delicious. Overall a fantastic experience! I'd love to return for another meal off of their regular menu.

Yelp
Had no idea that they moved location to i10/Spring Branch area! But, this new location is beautifully decorated and done. Located within a plaza and has its own parking garage (complimentary) towards the back of the restaurant. Made reservations ahead of time and was able to be seated immediately. Mainly came here for HRW, but also got a few extra things. Drinks - Ordered a Classic Margarita with Tajin on the rim and they did a great job on this with Reposado Tequila. For non-HRW menu apps, we got the Louisiana Roll (my friend that does not eat raw fish, really enjoyed this roll a lot. It had crawfish, avocado, creole shallots and a Prudhomme aioli). For the 1st HRW course, we got the Garlic Seared Calamari (I would not get this again, I just didn't like how soggy the calamari got and did not have any type of crisp to it and the sauce was a bit strange) and the Crispy Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (this was really good, quite large chunks of crab meat and the sauce that was paired went well with the crab cake itself). For the 2nd HRW course, we got the Main Lobster Risotto (the risotto was cooked well and good cheese sauce and good amount of lobster chunks) and the Panko Crusted Miso Butter Cod (not too fishy and the fish itself was very tender). Extra Side we ordered was the Crispy Brussel Sprouts (it was nicely cooked and had a delicious balsamic dressing that coated them). For the 3rd HRW dessert course, we both got the Coffee Creme Brulée (I wish the sugar was a bit crispier and less soggy but the coffee flavor profile was deff there). Very good service and Mr Masraff kept coming to our table to check on us to make sure everything was on par. Restrooms - Clean and has fancy napkins The indoors was nicely decorated and very upscale feeling. Shoutout to the complimentary bread service - Focaccia specifically was so good! One of my favorite bread services at a restaurant.

Yelp
Having not known about this place, one of my good Yelp Elite friends treated me to this amazing place, and what is there to say? Probably one of the best seafood- forward restaurants in the Memorial area, and it's in the right place for sure! The menu is straightforward that honors all palletes and might I say, all of the dishes were amazing! The presentation, the taste, the flavor, the seafood-forward goodness, all of this is amazing! If I had to brag about a dish or two, I would like to talk about the calamari and the foie gras. The calamari was tender, juicy, tasty, complemented the plate so well, and I can't look at calamari the same anywhere else I go. They have ruined it for me, but I love it! The foie gras definitely opened my eyes to see the rich fattiness of the dish. While it may be overwhelming for some, the other components of the dish make it comfortable to eat. I will say, if you are not accustomed to eat so much rich fatty foods in one sitting, this one might be the one you should choose for that choice. You won't regret it! Will I come back again? I'm sure I will, in a special occasion of course!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our dinner at Masraff's during Houston Restaurant Weeks. Masraff's offers one of the most generous HRW menus that I've seen--meaning that the HRW menu actually includes popular items, without an extra charge. I ordered the crab cake for my appetizer, the filet for my main, and the apple cobbler for my dessert, and all were great. The crab cake was perhaps a little more fried than I typically like, but it was very tasty and thoroughly enjoyed. The filet was perfectly cooked, and the apple cobbler was fantastic. Service was nice, and the restaurant ambiance was great: not stuffy but still very classy.

Yelp
What a lovely setting! A group of us went in for a nice evening and we were not disappointed!! The staff was delightful, the food was not only beautiful but also delicious!!! We had a Fantastic evening!!! i would highly recommend visiting them for a meal! Between the group we had an eclectic collection of diverse foods and everything was delicious!! service was spot on, the food was all served properly and piping hot. And this is one restaurant that you should check out the dessert menu first! Wowowowo! Their in house made donuts with dipping sauces was amazing!!! Also the quality of the food products they use is bar none fabulous Such fresh fish selections and they even had Foie gras and duck! Yummmmm And if the owner, Tony, is in the house do say hello! He is absolutely adorable!!

Yelp
We had date night at Masraff's and if you haven't been you absolutely should...we dined for Houston Restaurant Weeks and the food was delish, drinks impeccable, service on point and the owner Tony Masraff is the most dapper and sweetest 86 year old I've ever met! The lamb, quail, crab cakes, lobster risotto, tuna - it was all fabulous. Tony shared the best stories and was so personable, we will definitely be back to help support this local fave that's been in business since 1995. Picturesd here is the lobster risotto, crab cake and cheesecake mousse. Very large portions for HRW.

Yelp
Had their restaurant week menu plus a few additional. Food was great. Service was good. The apps were very small. Would need two or three per item each for a table of 6. The bread was also freshly baked and tasty. The sides were good but superrrr heavy. Desserts were ok, nothing to write home about.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would as this place is truly one of a kind! Went for a birthday dinner celebration on a Saturday night. Our reservation for 5 was at 7 pm and we were promptly seated and our server was at the table side with waters and took drink orders within moments of us arriving. None of which felt rushed, he was attentive, polite and professional. We also got a special visit by the owner who asked how we were enjoying the food and service which made for a nice personal touch to the evening. The ambiance is very, very nice. The restaurant is clean, well lit and spacious. As far as food and drinks go, our whole table was SO impressed with the dishes! For appetizers we got the salmon tartare special which came with a delicious seaweed salad and perfectly crisped wonton chips - this was very tasty, light, and refreshing. We also shared the garlic seared calamari, I think this was the true star of the show as the seared calamari was complimented by an amazing garlic sauce that almost tasted creamy, but not too heavy. The variety of mushrooms in this dish was also impressive, they were so good and again well complimented by the delicious sauce. Would highly recommend this appetizer! For entrees, two of us got the Chilean sea bass as recommended by the waiter and this did not disappoint. Fish was fresh, perfectly seared with a crispy outer layer but the inside was buttery and flaky, just scrumptious. Came with a delicious sauce, zucchini, green apple and celery and lobster grits to accompany the dish. Phenomenal, would absolutely recommend and would get this again if I returned. Other highlights were the mushroom side dish (came with fried quail eggs!), the Alaskan wild caught salmon special with wasabi mashed potatoes, halibut and the free range bison. We all enjoyed the entrees and were impressed by the large portions. The server was so kind to provide a complimentary dessert for a birthday at the table with a candle to celebrate. Overall a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this restaurant - especially for a special occasion!

Yelp
An elegant seafood restaurant with great food. Located on the first floor of some office building. Tried this place during HRW and we were happy to discover a new seafood place. Fish were so nicely cooked and service was impeccable! Gulf fish dish of my fav fish I had in Houston.

Yelp
I was greeted as I walked in and immediately seated at my table. The server came over as introduced himself. Water was served and drink orders taken. We ordered calamari straight away. They brought bread and we reviewed the menu to decide what was next. Garlic Seared Calamari- one of my favs. The flavor profile were spot one with just one difference from the last time I had the dish... green onions, I could not decide if the were necessary. The Calamari was tender and delicious. P.E.I Mussels- delicious flavor and really enjoyed the textures of the dish Fennel Pollen Dusted Diver Scallop- plump and tender. tasty and visually appealing. Seaweed and salad components were a nice complement. Lobster Grits - comfort in a bowl, flavorful grits with tender bits of lobster. Pan Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras - so rich and sweet/savory such a nice way to finish the meal... eat bit more delicious than the previous. Literally, the only criticism I have is the air conditioner was working a little too hard... it was super cold.

Yelp
A traditional upscale restaurant that I feel is a dying breed as we continue to get overpriced trendy hip places with limited real service charging people in t-shirts and jeans $50 a meal. Services was outstanding and place has a good classy vibe. The Chilean Seabass was probably one of the best seabasses I've had, the braised short rib was SUPER tender. Ordered: Braised Wagyu Butcher's Cut Meatball, Chilean Sea Bass, Braised Short Rib Would I Recommend to Try? Yes Would I Return? Solid, but wouldn't make the cut as a regular upscale visit Ambiance- 9/10 Food Taste- 8/10 Service- 10/10 Value- 7/10 Date Worthy- 9/10

Yelp
We chose the elegant Masraff's to have my low key birthday celebration. Just off the feeder of I10 in Memorial, if you're not looking, you may miss it. Our reservation was for 5:30p, just as the beautiful open dining room started to fill up. We settled in, deciding it was whiskey kinda night, although they had a wonderful selection of wines. Claudio and his team took excellent care of us. We started with the chilled Stone Crab Claws, served with a mustard aioli. Plump and slightly sweet. Soup of the day was a savory shrimp/sausage gumbo with white rice. MrM had the Chilean Seabass, served over lobster grits with zucchini, topped with a light sauce. I had the special, Three Tail Fish, served over fingerlings and green beans, topped with a cream sauce. Both seemed pan seared to perfection, crispy outside while light, flaky inside. Delicious! For dessert, we had the Down Home Blueberry Buckle. Light airy cinnamon strudel cake, blueberry drizzle, with these amazing lil pearls of lemon curd, topped with a mild coffee gelato with a thin pastry crisp. And you can't have dessert without a cappuccino! Thank you for making my birthday special without even knowing it!

Yelp
I always make sure to reserve here for Houston Restaurant Weeks but all of their food no matter what time of the year is always great. The ambience and service are wonderful and I always feel welcome and unrushed. I always get the foie gras appetizer and the garlic seared calamari. The parmesan crusted rosemary bread they bring to the table is amazing as well. Parking is available as valet, in the garage, or right in front of the restaurant. If you're searching for a nice dinner, come here!

Yelp
Promptly seated. Chair held out for me, napkin placed delicately on my lap. Everything is clean and the ambiance is classy. I felt like royalty, I imagine this is the quality of food the royals eat at Buckingham palace. They have two mocktails, one sweet strawberry hill that I absolutely loved! Fresh strawberry puree made it delicious. Another was the agave nectar more, refreshing with cucumber hints and a fresh cucumber! Both wonderful. I really enjoyed the spinach salad - the dressing blended with the Gouda and the walnuts... the textures married perfectly and all ingredients were fine and fresh! The bread was soft like a cloud - softer than a marshmallow and airy - it was warm and aromatic with fresh rosemary spices and Parmesan. I want to make this bread at home. It gave me that warm fuzzy feeling and the butter was of the perfect consistency. My water cup never ran dry. The wait staff was kindly attentive but never intrusive. They have fresh seafood flown in daily but I had heard of the fall of the bone ribs... I have no regrets I would come back and order this dish again! Every ingredient I encountered here was top notch quality, this is Fine Food! The decadent Barolo Braised Short Rib is melt in your mouth ...and the sauce - I could have licked it off the plate! Even the marinated sweet onion was simply perfection. The creamy side of smoked Yukon potato puree balanced the savory dish well. I ate all of the meat. The portions were also very generous! My photos do not do them justice. I tasted the Asian caramelized mushrooms, what an imaginative unique dish - a lighter side. The quail eggs made a surprising touch. I tasted the russet potatoe gratin, as well. It was just a tad salty... but that is far better than it being bland - it was bursting with flavor and perfectly executed with a nice cheesy melted top. For dessert we had the chocolate fondue, I could barely fit anything else in my stomach but had to get a few bites, it was a delicious end to the meal. It was cooked perfectly - the ooey chocolate insides just oozed out of the cake ! The real cherry on top of the evening was that Mr.Masraff himself came by the table to greet us and ask how our dining meal was going. What a honor - he has made such a fine establishment here. I highly recommend it, if you can get a reservation!

Yelp
One word, Exquisite! Came in and was immediately greeted with a beautiful smile. Sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Tommy. What a gem and they are lucky to have him! His attention to detail to drinks and recommendations for food were amazing! Overall great ambiance and staff! Thank you again!

Yelp
Had lunch there today and first in a long time. Shame on me. I want wait that long again. It was great. I believe that have the best clam chowder in the city. Service was great, menu was balanced. With so few good restaurants not open for lunch this would be a wonderful respite for the 77024 area. We have a lot of restaurants in this area, but not a lot of Great ones. Best yet, it's affordable. Can't miss combination. I strongly suggest you try it.

Yelp
Well I've heard of this place before I've never actually been here until today. Since I was there for an event it was a fixed menu with a salad and a chicken dish. Of course I didn't think to take a picture of the salad but it was quite refreshing and large. It had diced cucumbers in it which was really unique. And it was quite refreshing. The chicken dish I did snag a picture of because it was very unique looking. When I read the description I wasn't sure what to think, when it shut up on my plate I just thought it looked like art. The smell of rosemary was quite nice, but I was really blown away with the overall flavor. This is one of the few times I've had a chicken dish at an event and it was memorable enough to write a review about. Additionally, the service was amazing. I don't think my iced tea ever got completely empty. I was even thanked by two different people walking out the door. Since I don't know what things cost nor the names of what I ate, or a picture of one of the two things, this isn't the most useful review. However, I hope it serves to recognize the overall quality of this place!

Yelp
I had the lamb. It was very good. It did have a sauce underneath it that was overpowering and unnecessary.. minty flavor. I had the clam chowder, which was very good and gluten free. It's sharable for 2. They don't have gluten free bread. And our waiter was kind of rude about it and laughed when I asked. The desserts were also very good and gluten free. We had the stawberry meringue. The meringue was amazing even though I usually don't like meringue. And I also had the cheesecake.

Yelp
An absolutely stellar experience. By far the best food I have had in Houston. Had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and talking with Tommy. He really loves what he does and it shows. Wish I found this place sooner, will be back for sure.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Masraff's at its new location, several years later again for HRW! The menu options all looked great so I was really looking forward to this. Appetizers: Garlic seared calamari- not your average calamari, and I really loved this flavour combo and the mushrooms with it. Fried Quail- also delicious. The sauce on it brought a balancing sweetness and together with the polenta was just such a homey dish! Entree's: Braised short rib- never have I had a more tender short rib. So much flavour oozing from it. And who doesn't love a good mash. Rack of lamb- lamb itself was fine- at this point I think I was just filling up so there was no wow factor. The truffle potato gratin really came through with the truffle flavour which is a win. Desserts: the apple cobbler was the best, but be warned you will be very full by the time you get to this part.... Honorable mention- that cheesy rosemary doc is was SO delicious. I don't know how I managed to cut myself off... Parking was easy- pull up to the garage in the back, plenty of spots on a late Friday night. I l enjoyed the open layout of the restaurant and service was great- not too overbearing but helpful.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to take the wife here. We came by here on a Friday cause we are catholic and needed a place that served seafood. We really enjoyed the staff and I am assuming the owner coming by and checking on us. Drinks were good and great atmosphere It was so good that we came back and brought friends back. We had the exact same treatment as the first time we were there. Keep up the great job.

Yelp
Open 2 years ago , but we just discovered this beautiful restaurant and bar in the Memorial area.Father and son owners, Tony and Russell Masraff offer a beautiful setting with raw oyster bar & sushi, an exceptional experience of food to satisfy all the senses A recommendation from 1 of my patients brought us to their Friday happy hour 4 to 6 pm .Recognized by Wine spectator for their extensive wine collection, we had to see what all the hype was about. We choose 3 items from their happy hour menu. Braised short rib egg rolls. Pure deliciousness with spicy pickled carrot and cucumber Asian slaw cilantro and sweet chili Chinese mustard sauce . Delectible. Masraff's famous fresh tuna tacos were a blend of perfect thin crunchiness with Thai basil , soy reduction and wasabi aoli. Great balance of sweet and saltiness. The braised Wagyu meatballs with garlic and shallott confit, smoked squash ragout( love anything with squash) and Reggiano polenta was absolutely " Bonne Boche" a delicious mouthful. Wine by the glass and bottle were 1/2 off for happy hour and happy hour menu had a wide variety of choices. Great choice and thankful to have come across this wonderful restaurant that will absolutely be returning for dinner soon.

Yelp
One of the most magnificent evenings I've spent in a long time. The food was excellent. Service was impeccable. The ambience was like you were eating and someone's lovely dining room.

Yelp
Wow just wow Happy hour at Masraff's in upscale and now local favorite in the Memorial area was something we just had to try after a recommendation from one of my favorite Yelpies patients. The famous tuna tacos with Thai Basil soy reduction and wasabi aïoli. The right amount of spiciness There is a great amount of balance between The sweetness and crunchiness. The vast 30 page wine list was a wine connoisseurs dream. From NAPA Reds to Super Tuscans. There is something for everyone and great list for food pairings.

Yelp
Our party of 5 had dinner here. We selected from the HRW menu. My choices were the Crispy Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Filet Mignon, and the Cheesecake mousse. Everything was delicious. However, I would pass on the mousse next time and instead, get the Apple Cobbler for dessert. It was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant was lovely. Highly suggest making a reservation, especially if you like to dine later in the evening. Also, this is a higher end restaurant, so at a minimum dress business casual. Adam was our server and he did a fabulous job. In fact, all of the staff was warm and welcoming. Mr. Masraff even came by each table to say hello and to make sure all was well. They have valet parking which was $8.00 or you could self-park in the garage behind the building. We enjoyed everything so much we've already made another reservation to come back in a couple of weeks to celebrate our friend's birthday.

Yelp
Awesome! We went for our anniversary and birthday celebration! Service and food was great! I love how quiet this place was too, it made the meal more enjoyable!

Yelp
Visited for the first time and decided to go with the HRW menu to allow us to try some of the best items on the menu. We both order the crab cake appetizer and Lobster Risotto as an entrée. For dessert, I chose the cheesecake mousse, and my mom chose the apple crumble. We were not disappointed with our choices. The service was impeccable. We were even greeted by the owner, Tony Masraff. The restaurant is beautiful and stylish and the perfect setting for dinner.

Yelp
I came here for Houston Restaurant Week to try their 3 course dinner menu. The crispy shrimp maki roll was underwhelming, but I mainly chose it because I wanted a light appetizer. As for the filet mignon, it was cooked to my liking (medium rare) and I enjoyed it with the creole bordelaise! The carrots were cooked nicely; I wish they gave me more of them! As for the potato confit, it was cheesy and heavy as expected. I think I would've preferred roasted potatoes instead. As for the apple cobbler crisp, I loved the generous amount of graham crumble. It was a comforting dessert that took me back to my childhood! Overall, I feel that I got good value out of the HRW deal. In addition, we had the honor of Tony Masraff checking in on us at our table and asking how the food was!

Yelp
I love Masraff! This place was my first love when it came to fancy dining. Ofc I have branched out ever since but my first time here was about 10 years ago at their old location and their great service and amazing food has not changed since. From their appetizers to their steaks, nothing disappoints. This place will always be on top of my recommendation list.

Yelp
The scallop dish was yummy as can be. The place is really nice, service is really good and the garlic calamari was even better! Lots of seafood dishes I saw , lobster and crab that looked mouth watering. Higher end and worth it. When I'm town, I will be back.

I had a cocktail I forgot the name but it was basically a watermelon margarita. Food was delicious. Ambiance is nice. You may feel like you need to get super dressed up but most ppl were in jeans and a bottom up. Appetizer: pan seared calamari VERY FLAVORFUL!!! Not your average calamari Drink: watermelon margarita ( asked for extra sweet) was perfect Dinner : lamb yummmmmmmmmm Sides: creamed spinach ( it was ok) and the fancy word for mashed potatoes lol it was delicious! Dessert : cheesecake moose delicious Sticky toffee pudding DELICIOUS!

Yelp
The first time hubs and I have been to Masraff's was probably over a decade ago when it was in the Galleria area. To be around for so long speaks to itself. Oysters were perfect. They even grate the horseradish, which we thought it was cheese at first. My duck breast and foie gras were perfectly cooked. Hubs had the short rib. It was too much for him to finish. Even the bread and butter were perfect and I was really sad when they took it away from our table after our meals. Although we were full, hubs couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding on the menu... and I'm glad he ordered it! The caramel aka sticky part of the dessert was actually glazed around the plate which I enjoyed because the cake wasn't drenched in it, making it too sweet to enjoy. You can control your own sweetness factor. So it was more like a decadent brownie that you can swirl around in the caramel sauce. Service was splendid!

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary at a fine dining restaurant. According to the reviews this place sounded like the perfect place. The parking was great, with lots of places to park. We came in and were seated right next to a wall and the waiter station. The place was lit for intimate settings which was romantic. We ordered the following dinner... Apps: Calamari and Louisiana roll Salad: Heirloom tomato and Gumbo Entree: Diver Scallops and 16oz Ribeye (medium) Drinks: Cabernet, Spring Branch Blossom & Sandia The Apps were the best out of all the meal and it just went downhill from there. The Heirloom tomato salad was so sweet I could only finish 1/4 of it. It had too much balsamic vinegar and everything was sweet, there need to be something add to break that up. The Gumbo was an off menu and it only had chicken with huge pieces of peppers and the roux didn't have much depth. Also, was mostly rice. My scallops were off the menu and were peppered on the outside served with mushrooms and saffron couscous. The saffron was SO overpowering that all I had was one bite, the mushrooms were scorched so the were uneditable, and the pepper on the outside of the scallops were burnt as well. I had to scrape off the outside of them in order to eat them, which were cooked nicely. My husband ordered a medium ribeye served with a side of lobster grits and the peppercorn green sauce. The ribeye was cooked medium rare, which is disappointing since it is $56. But he said the grits and sauce was good. When it came time for dessert, we were so full and I was disappointed with just about everything, that we declined it. Well, apparently the waiter was not too happy and said I thought y'all were celebrating and walked away annoyed. I guess a $350 meal was not enough money for him. He also seemed annoyed that we didn't order a bottle of wine but instead did single serve. Since we were seated by the waiter station my husband was bummed minimum 7 times in the back. Overall for the price we expected top notch food, like Gordon Ramsay expectations. It was so disappointing and not worth the money. Also, noticed that all the waiters were male and only the hostesses were female. Not sure if it was just the night we went but found it interesting.

Yelp
The same week we were invited to a birthday dinner & the bday boy opted for this place. And you know what? It was awesome thanks to our server Kenny! What a delight he was! Very attentive with a wonderful personality! Food was delicious as on our first visit. This time I ordered the crab cakes w an Avo-Caesar's salad. Perfect h for those who want something not too filling. We shared an assortment of desserts, which were all very tasty. So this updates increases the star rating & credit goes to server of the year, Kenny.

Yelp
this is one of the best fine dining restaurants i've been to in a while! most time these days i feel all fine dining is pretty mediocre but this definitely exceeded expectations. the inside is small but there seems to be several small rooms. service was lovely and professional. the bread basket is far above any other bread i have had. i had the seabass, my father had the crab risotto, and my husband had the filet. all were great but the seabass was a standout. the russet potato gratin was like a loaded baked potato. extremely filling but very flavorful and delicious. finally, dessert was the donuts and sticky toffee pudding. i personally was a fan of the donuts over the pudding but the sticky toffee pudding was also tasty would definitely recommend and be back to try more!!!

Yelp
Houston's best keep secret! Staff and ownership are very hospitable. The sticky toffee desert was amazing. A nice bottle of cake bread completed our meal. Definitely at the top of our list for Houston. You must try it.

Yelp
By far the best restaurant I've been to in awhile. Everything on the menu was delicious. I will be back forsure and tell others. Atmosphere is upscale and the waiter Aaron was great and knowledgeable. The owner even greeted us at the table. Service was amazing. My husband had lamb I had seabass. Now the best appetizer was the garlic seared calamari. This place should get 10 across the board.
