My absolute favorite spot on the uws to grab a coffee, croissant and read my book. The staff is lovely and super friendly (and their local farm fresh milk and eggs are incredible). This place has all around good vibes (and conveniently close to central park a MoNH)

A charming coffee stop that also doubles as a healthy, organic grocery store. They have indoor seating, making it a nice place to relax. The coffee is good—I actually ordered a matcha, and it was surprisingly delicious. A great spot for a quick break or a healthy shopping trip!

I don’t appreciate the layout for when you buy coffee. The table in which you’re supposed to prepare your coffee in is too small, drinks get lost because they don’t ask for your name and baristas are just putting the drinks on a table while there’s a line to put milk/sugar/etc on your drink. We were bumping shoulder to shoulder with other customers and everyone was grabbing each others drinks because of the confusion. The coffee doesn’t meet the expectations for a coffee of that price point. Overall, if the coffee shop had a better layout I’d give them another try.

I'm only rating the coffee shop, not the place in general. The coffee was bland, and the way the baristas prepared it was odd, it wasn’t a flat white, just watery coffee with steamed milk. If you're looking for coffee, there a plenty of better spots within walking distance.

I went into this store this morning (1/3/25) with my toddler in a stroller. We had 15 minutes to kill before the nearby museum opened so I bought a hot drink and pastry. As I scanned the store I saw that all the tables had someone sat at them and there was just one high stool available against the window. I asked the barista if I could briefly use the empty table right next to the cash registers. He (young man) was polite but firm that I couldn’t as it was used for setting out fresh produce. He then asked a woman sat behind me, working on a laptop to confirm. She replied that I couldn’t use the table with no further explanation. So I accepted it without any protest and sat down at the high top stool. As I sat down, another woman with a child in a stroller walked up to the laptop lady and asked to use the spare chair at her table, which she then placed at the ‘produce’ table, that I was told mere moments before that I couldn’t use. The laptop lady saw her sit down at the produce table and said if she would prefer she could also sit down at her table. I was sat less than 3 feet from both women. This is a store that my family and I often go to, but this morning’s incident - brief though it was has left me feeling that the staff were being discriminatory. I write this review in the hope that someone from the store reads this and reflects on how even small incidents like this can make customers feel not welcome. I don’t feel comfortable returning to this store.

Me and my friend found this cafe and we love it! The coffee is great, the almond croissant was delicious and it has a variety of organic products. I really liked the service. I will definitely visit again when I'm in New York again. Thanks guys! ❤️❤️❤️

Staff is awesome, the yogurt is incredible (the one with the cows). I hope they keep it in stock forever. Coffee line can get a bit long some days, but then use all organic milks which is awesome.

We decided to visit Mast Market when we were in the UWS having a day exploring the neighbordhood. Since I used to live here lots of new businesses have opened up and this is one of them! Mast seems to be a coffee shop, home goods, and small grocery store all wrapped in one. We decided to just get coffee. I got a medium black coffee which they gave you and cup and you helped yourself at a self pour machine. All other drinks are made by the staff at this location. Overall a very modern and well kept place. I'd consider coming here and hanging out with a friend and/or working here for a day as well. They also have an outdoor area to hang during warmer weather as well!

My friends and I stopped by Mast Market to grab a cup of coffee before our trip to the the Museum of Natural History. The market is spacious and welcoming. It was fun to peruse the shelves of grocery items while waiting for our drinks. There are plenty of snacks, beverages, and household items like soaps or cookbooks. The coffee was good and the space was a nice refuge from the cold weather :)

A modern coffee shop with a rather interesting layout. The "store" (to buy items) is at the front entrance, while the open-spaced bar to order coffee is placed closer to the rear. Prices are fair and the coffee is good, albeit unspectacular. My one gripe is that while there's an abundance of space, there isn't too many places to sit (1-2 tables, and one window bar area with 4-5 stools).

I live in the neighborhood and can confidently say this is the best matcha around! I loathe to go elsewhere because it is consistently great. The produce sometimes looks a bit questionable, but the non-perishables are very fun to peruse! Love to see local NY artisans highlight their craft. Baristas are very kind as well.

Vibe: 3/10 - I know what they're going for, but it didn't feel clean. Service: 2/10 - friendly, but the coffee is self serve so expectations are low here Value: 2/10 - I came here after seeing the coffee was only $2.50, but this was the smallest non-espresso coffee I've ever seen. Coffee: 1/10 - completely self service from a coffee urn and the cashier handed me a carton of oat milk to serve myself as well. The coffee was cold, watery, and acidic. Not even worth the $2.50 Overall: 2/10 (1/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]

I love Mast Market and go almost daily. Their organic produce and even books are fantastic, their coffee, lattes and staff is friendly. My favorite staff member however, barista Jamie McDonald, is not there anymore. He brought so much to the place: warmth, great customer care and the BEST LATTES . I have heard from other customers who are regulars as well, how much they miss Jamie! Please bring Jamie back! He makes the difference, if my friends and I frequent Mast.

Came in here on a Thursday evening. The baristas were very nice and attentive. I got a matcha latte ; 4/5 stars. Their matcha latte was bitter and sifted well. That's how you know they offer real matcha and not just sweetened fake matcha. It was soft and creamy. I really enjoyed it and will be back soon! They have condiments like creamer, honey, and drip coffee on the side. Their market is pretty big, they have a variety of household supply that you can buy on the side. As for the seating, they have a few tables and seats along the window area so you can people watch and sip your coffee/tea. Overall, I will come back to try their coffees since I did come in pretty late. They offer cash & card.

I like this place! kinda feels like a place that you would find out in the Hamptons. Coffee is really good and they carry some fresh produce, snacks, and kitchen accessories as well. It is a little bit pricey for what it is sometimes but the aesthetics and coffee is good

I am 71 year old Upper West Sider. I Live around the corner from this place. This is your basic new, stark retail coffee/grocery store staffed by typical "high on life" rural GenZ's who lack any trans generational engagement or connection. A Rikers Island visiting room has more welcoming ambiance than this place. I was on my way home, in the oppressive 94 degree heat when I decided to go to Mast for an iced Chai tea. Before ordering I was told that they couldn't process credit cards, only cash, due to their system being down. The cashier added that I could sit and wait for the system to reset. I asked if I could get my chai because I was hot. He hesitated and agreed. I also explained that I'm a longtime neighbor which really didn't mean anything to him. He didn't engage. Like a wall. I sat down and finished my chai beverage . I got up and headed back to the counter where I told the guy that I was going to an ATM to pay for the chai. At this point let me note that the Upper West side businesses have usually been accommodating and kind to their neighbors when in crisis. Unfortunately, these new generation Utopians are virtueless, and lacking any common sense or discretionary outreach. In their eyes, they are the pillars of social morés because they sell farm food when, in fact, they don't assimilate to our community! Their system was down and it never occurred to any of these wizards to use discretionary thinking and accommodate me, the customer! You remember what a customer is, don't you? Apparently not! Is a $5.44 beverage worth making a disabled senior walk FOUR blocks in oppressive heat? Apparently, $5.44 is their priority! So much for empathy, and community! Real New Yorkers would use discretionary thinking and either comp me the chai (after all, it WAS their system that was broken!) or simply say " don't worry about it. You can pay it the next time you're here" But that would be kind and caring. Both virtues that these farmer zombies lack! So in 94 degree weather, I had to stagger 4 city blocks to an ATM to get the $5.44 for the priceless Chai! This is New York now, friends! We have foreign immigrants and domestic ones. The domestic ones are just as alienated to New Yorkers, and communities, as the foreign ones. When I returned to the store, I paid the $5.44 for the precious Chai! The women behind the counter ignored me. No surprise. Their arrogance was as glowing as the sun outside! This place is the farthest away from "community" than you can imagine! More like "farm girls on parade with New York attitudes!". Morgue freezers have more warmth by far! Ever wonder where the Children of the Corn wound up as adults? ....I know.

What an adorable market & cafe! The space itself if beautiful, the coffee is top notch and the baristas are so friendly and kind! I loved shopping the aisles of local produce and organic fare while waiting for what might be the best cappuccino I've had. Bar seating at the window overlooking Columbus, incredible for people watching..they also have several tables with chairs for people to chat or get some work done. Will be back for sure! I'm so glad it's in the neighborhood!

Mast Market is my wife's favorite coffee shop in the city. It's bright, clean, and has very good coffee. The baristas are helpful and supremely patient (I witnessed another customer express profound confusion when her four individually-modified matcha lattes took longer to prepare than my black drip coffee. God bless the baristas for their calm, repeated explanations as to why). The curated decor is cool. It feels a bit like stepping into a influencer's TikTok. But you can actually hang out, sip your flat white, and just vibe. Or peruse the kitchen cookware and buy something to make your own home feel just a little bit cooler. Also, I really appreciate the farm fresh produce for sale. When I visited (October 2022), Mast offered local honeycrisp apples. Fellow apple elitists, rejoice.

Mast Market is very crisp in its aesthetic. Everything is neat and minimalistic. They have cute displays of jams, honeys, cooking utensils and appliances. They also have a small assortment of food items. The coffee bar is great! I had a double shot latte with oat milk, and it was so smooth and tasty. I loved the latte. I also ended up buying a couple little kitchen items. This is a nice spot for a coffee or for a specialty food item.

Mast Market is a fantastic place for a relaxed coffee / snack. Bright and fresh inside. It hasn't been the same since the English guy, Jamie, was there though. He really created a brilliant atmosphere and is known well by all the regulars.

This place has potential, but really needs someone to come steer the ship I don't think I'll be back here to get coffee. They have some interesting books and housewares.

Decent coffee and friendly staff. I ordered a small cold brew ($4 + tax) which was decent. Complimentary almond milk yay! Apparently, the pastries are made fresh at Mount Kisco and delivered daily. Definitely will come back to try the pastries and possibly a gourmet soup (saw that they used grass fed butter).

There Hot chocolate is amazing there, there is this barista name Jamie makes the Best Hot Chocolate and the whole staff is amazing, sweet and loving. The managers Andrew and Kayla are amazing accommodating to helping out with what too purchase on the menu. Please Check this place out. You will thank me later.

I had very poor service today from a rude and unhelpful member of staff. She was unapologetic for a mistake that was hers. Paying customers should always be treated with respect.

The store is very pretty and the selection of vegetables is good. That's basically the only positive. The staff seems to like talking to each other and texting on their phones more than helping people and the coffee was pretty weak when I was in the other day. I don't know who is teaching everyone on coffee and basic service but I'm disappointed. At this point I'd rather walk a couple of blocks to get coffee when I'm out.

Only bought milk there. I had some espresso outdoors. Watching the world go by on Columbus Avenue at Sunset. Lovely setting.

Not my usual coffee spot in the area, but was drawn in by the general aesthetic to be honest. Before getting my coffee, I enjoyed browsing the selection of products and produce available. I wasn't looking to buy anything at the moment, but I did end up getting some local organic pasta that just looked too good to pass up. The prices definitely lived up to my expensive expectations, but everything did seem like nice quality. Coffee was nothing remarkable, but it was a nice place to grab a stool by the window and people watch while I finished it.

Nice coffee Market New & Neat！ It is like muji combined with offee. The coffee bean just cost $12 per bag. The equipment sells expensive， u could also order latti or cappuccino on-site.

Perfect destination post Central Park stroll. The location is pretty much unbeatable near the Museum of Natural History and the café offers a unique combination of coffee shop, locally sourced organic produce and highly curated housewares and cook books, in a design focused minimalist space. Yes, the entire concept feels elitist and pretentious, and I first wondered how they could maintain their business in such a bare space, but I've surprised myself coming back to this café several times a month since it opened, purchasing selected farm fresh produce or home goods just for fun, on top of a cappuccino to stay or to go. Get lured in just like I was and enjoy the discoveries.

Worst cappuccino of my life. This is more niche market place than a coffee shop. 2 stars for having non alcoholic champagne on the shelves.

All these good reviews must be from white people. If you're minority, take caution because the person behind the counter was pretty rude. I guess US is still white people's country.

I parked nearby and just needed a healthy bite. I saw some seats outside two restaurants and fortuitously chose to walk into Mast Market. The two gentlemen who were working there welcomed to the store, helped me with my choice of food and coffee

I prepared myself for anything when I visited last week, and I have to give MM 6 stars. The matcha latte was the best I have had, no bitter aftertaste, but a buttery smooth finish. Cara, the barista was exceptionsl, as were Chase and Tyler. I am 75, and am learning all about matcha. All three took such an interest in me and when I ordered a second one, they were truly tickled. Whoever does the hiring, knows what they are doing. They all were engaging, accommodating and kind. Heading over there now.

Lovely shop of high end gourmet kitchen accoutrements. Very Hamptons vibe but excellent quality, fresh take away items like great dairy; the produce is always great and sometimes they have baked goods. The coffee is always excellent. Still a secret on the UWS.

Organic produce and coffee shop with all your basic grocery needs sourced sustainably. Amazing location right next to the Sunday market and Central Park! This will quickly become a local favorite and the best spot by far in the area for better produce, milk, eggs, cheese, and more!

I've never loved a market so much. I had the pleasure of working here for a few months but sadly had to move and I often think about their produce, chocolate, and coffee. There is a big heart at Mast Market. You feel it when you walk in the doors. It's not a turn and burn coffee shop like some of the chains out there. It is a unique place that all people should experience. Order your coffee, try the chocolate bars, grab an organic fruit and take a deep breath. Take a moment to slow down from your busy life at Mast Market.

Wonderful and aesthetically pleasing environment. I love the outside seating option. It creates a very resting experience with great food/drink options.

Lots of celebrity-tainted blah blah on the web site about community and sustainability, but in real life it's a big white sparsely-stocked space with a few loaves of nice bread, a few ordinary fruits, a small selection of prepared foods, a busy coffee counter which must account for most of its revenue, and a staff that would rather be elsewhere. Since my shopping cart was full of items from the wonderful nearby farmers' market, I asked for a bag for the salad I bought. A paper bag was literally thrown at me by the woman behind the counter, whose greeting was "Yes?" and who did not thank me for the generous tip I foolishly left. (The salad was below mediocre.) The neighborhood abounds in specialty food shops. I don't need to pay a premium at this place because Martha Stewart gave it a testimonial.

Decent coffee and chocolate, along with household products and tchochke's that have that tastefully bland look that everyone will recognize. It's the indifferent service that will make me think twice unless I am in a real pinch for maple sugar.... With all of the coffee and grocery options in the neighborhood it will be easy to give Mast a miss.

Priced to flatter one's well off vanity for actually sub-standard items. For example the $14.00 pound of butter that tasted totally of Chevre. The $12 pint of Ice Cream so cloyingly sweet I nuked it down the drain with hot water. Or the what you call a Cappuccino and I call dish water American coffee with some white stuff. The one decent to good thing, a small $12. bag of roasted wall nuts, well the first bag was good...the second try not so hot. I'm out, the Mast brother's have already been established as bandits and they are at it again. Google their chocolate lies.

Always the perfect stop after a Sunday Farmers Market. If you're looking for an uplifting Mocha, theirs is perfectly balanced with slight sweetness of their house chocolate and the bite of their espresso. A curated collection of other household essentials for sale give the whole place a nice vibe of calm minimalism, and is a great respite from a stressful day. If looking for souvenir gifts for people after visiting the nearby Museum of Natural History, put this place on your list of stops.
