Had a wonderful experience!! Cesar was absolutely amazing and a wondering server. The calamari, crab-cake, asparagus and mash potatoes were so tasty and fresh. Coming back for the fish and chips!! Thank you Cesar, you made our date night fabulous.

Everything was great! Delicious pizza, cocktails, and awesome ribs! Edgardo, our server, was attentive and very hospitable. It's definitely a place worth trying, and a spot I will for sure be coming back to!

Pizza was fantastic! Nice crispy thin crust. Also had the apple pear salad that was delicious. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend if your looking for good pizza.

The atmosphere was cozy, inviting, and charming. The manager spoke to us personally and was extremely put together and kind. The food was amazing! I had the pepperoni and hot honey pizza and I couldn’t have been more pleased with how it tasted. Overall, ten out of ten.

My experience at Matchbox was absolutely fantastic, and much of that was thanks to Edgaro, our amazing server. From the moment we were seated, Edgaro made us feel welcome and taken care of with his warm and attentive service. He knew the menu inside and out, offering thoughtful recommendations that turned out to be spot on. The food was exceptional—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared—but it was Edgaro’s professionalism and friendly demeanor that truly made the evening special. He ensured everything was perfect, and his attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. I’ll definitely be back to Matchbox for the incredible food and the top-tier service! My bartender Areg, is the best. I also love Tequila, (the drink and the bartender). I feel at home here. Also, I can't forget it's the best pizza ever!

Just stopped in for a beverage before dinner nearby, took a few minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. Not a good sign as there were only 5 others at this decent sized bar.

We often enjoy our meal at the bar. The drinks are classic with a tasty twist. We have never had a bad dish! The butternut salad I had (pictured) quite literally had 5 pieces of butternut squash, but I just opened my mouth about it and low-and-behold I had more. The servers are attentive enough that we don't have to track them down. We have never experienced a crazy crowd so it's a fairly relaxing environment.

Nice little spot in Bethesda for a quick business dinner. It's a very nice location, with plenty of seating, and an open kitchen where the pizzas are prepared. We enjoyed three different pizzas, side Caesar salads, and a couple of beers on tap. The service was a little slow, but they were very understaffed, so I will not take a star off for that. Our server was super sweet, and she was also taking care of the entire bar top. The food was great and came quickly. Our server Edgardo was attentive and did a great job explaining the menu! Will 100% be coming back!

We have had 2 visits to this location and both have been great. In both cases we had the kids and out of town guests. The restaurant is designed really nicely and feels like a place that you want to hang out and have a good time as it has a bar in the middle with lots of lots of TV. The staff there was friendly, helpful and attentive on both visits. Our daughters (11 and 9) got the hamburger and chicken tenders from the kid's menu which they both enjoyed. On my first visit I had the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad which was great and for my s2nd visit I had a Caesar Salad with grilled Salmon which was great also. For both dishes the fish was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. From the drink menu I had the Matchbox Mule on our last visit which was really good. Overall we have had two great experiences here and will definitely be back.

Okay soo I ended up coming to this location because I initially wanted to go to Planta but there bar was full which was extremely disappointing to me. I ordered the Cute cosmo and the Crab artichoke dip. It tasted so freaking good yall lol. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the dip tasted: I also liked the presentation of the appetizer. Keeping it short, cute, and simple because my night is just getting started and I might yelp more tonight.

Matchbox Bethesda is great for brunch and evening faire! We stop here a lot because it's close in the neighborhood for us, but every staff member is always welcoming and the service is great. Diego knows our favorites and always high fives our little. We love it!! Try the Chicken and Waffles!

We got the fire and smoke pizza and the Caesar salad, both were just ok. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. It was also expensive for what it was.

Solid pizza spot Great ratio of sauce to cheese and dough wasn't salty like some pizza spots I've been to. Cesar salad was perfection...inhaled it Forgot to take a before pic so you're gonna have to deal with me in the process of going through it It was a slow Saturday afternoon but their service was quick. I asked for their hot honey on the side because I wasn't sure how it would taste on a whole pizza and I used it as a dip and it was freaking delicious Left full and just the perfect order. Def recommend and I will be going back.

The brunch was delicious! The Fried chicken sandwich was amazing--the bun was super buttery and the egg had a runny yolk. The service was good as well. The restaurant was dead though.

We used to frequent the Matchbox in Rockville many years ago, and were very disappointed with the location in Bethesda. Service was lovely and we love the location right in downtown Bethesda, but the food left a lot to be desired and we wouldn't reorder any of it: APPETIZERS - Spicy Tuna Tartare Tacos ($15): Tiny - White Wine Mussels ($17): Sauce was unexpectedly creamy and the mussels tiny - Crispy Calamari ($17): Not memorable - Crab and Avocado Tower ($18): Not much of a tower happening... more of a small mound with lots of nacho chips ENTREES - Cremini Mushroom Pizza ($15) - Fig & Prosciutto Pizza ($15) - Crab Cakes ($39): Previously nice and lumpy, this time it was small and also a lot of mealy breading and not as much lumps of crab beyond the layer at the top. The only thing that wowed us was the Fire and Ice Dragon Fruit Mojito ($15), though it didn't taste alcoholic at all but like a delicious lemonade.

I came here with a friend after a long day. It was late night but the service was not slacking; everyone was friendly and provided helpful suggestions about the menu. The food was great as well. I had the crispy half chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus and a drink called "the love boat". Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The ambiance outside was desirable and very relaxing. Will definitely be back soon and highly recommend!

Had a nice dinner here- I got the crispy chicken Cobb salad- portion is huge and chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy- we got both the old bay and buffalo wings for happy hour and they were good and hit the spot although one of the wings was red on the inside-also tried the avo crab appetizer which was good but did not blow me away- the pig and pineapple pizza got thumbs up as well as Nashville hot sandwich- rib eye was good but was a little over cooked (ordered as medium and was more well done) -the matchbox meat pizza also got thumbs up but I thought was a little salty . Service was acceptable but waiter was slightly slow and had no personality but no complaints - the restaurant is cleans and spacious - gets very loud when crowded- we could not hear each other at all - you can't go for much conversation but all in all had a nice dependable dinner!

Chicken pesto pizza was fire. Apple pear salad was fire. The place itself was really clean and modern on the inside. I love the location, there are a lot of cute shops and restaurants around.

The recipe of the chicken pesto pizza that I love changed and now I have to request it the original way. I get it because there is no tomato sauce and they decided to add diced tomatoes to a perfect pizza

Just came from this place. Average pizza, but more notable was the sour puss on the "hostess". Acted like she didn't want to be there, was of less than zero help, and just plain unpleasant. Do yourselves a favor and get rid of whoever was "working" the front at @1:45pm on 11/8/24. It's the kind of thing that sticks with customers

I've been to the Matchbox in Rockville several times before and I've always had good experiences. The only thing I've noticed over the years is that their ginormous meatball has gotten smaller Their pizzas are decent and their other dishes taste exactly like you'd expect. Nothing is extraordinary, but its a nice restaurant to go to when you just want to get out of the house.

Because this is one of my favorite pizza spots I finally decided to try their other items. So my husband got the chicken and I got the crab cake sandwich and neither disappointed!!!! The crab cake sandwich has lots of lump crab meat and no breading; the MARYLAND WAY!!! I was so happy lol. The chicken and mashed potatoes were delightful as well and my husband ate every drop. As always we sat at the bar and enjoyed each others company while the bartender kept them coming. We also tried the mini burgers and they were amazing lolol. Idk why I never tried anything outside the pizza here but I'm happy I did. I love matchbox so I'll always be a regular lol.

I have to say Edgardo is top notch! He provided excellent service. My drink was a little sour and I asked for water instead. He went out his way to make sure my drink was right. Thank you Edgardo. I look forward to you serving us again.

The food was on point, and it was a lovely spot. Two things rubbed me the wrong way: 1st, the hostess dug her hand in my fries before they made it to my table; 2nd, the waiter asked if he did something wrong as I put in the amount for the tip. Note, I will tip, but I don't like to feel obligated to tip 20% just because you were friendly and came once it was time for the bill; plenty of things could've been better should be common knowledge as a waiter, such as refills, or asking if everything came out okay(especially if u did not bring the food out yourself). Overall, I enjoyed the food but am unsure if I will return.

If i could give a 0, I would. The Caesar salad had a ladybug in it and the staff, at best, didn't seem to care. The waitstaff stared at me and my son after we sent the dish back and it was super awkward. And the staff never came back to apologize, let alone clear the table. I apologize for not taking a picture of the ladybug, but it was gross. I can only imagine the kitchen is filthy. I have been to many Matchbox restaurants and this one is the absolute worst. I will never return.

So I had the Miso Salmon (pictured) and my date had the crab cake sandwich! I think this restaurant is a solid reliable restaurant for casual eats and a good time! My salmon was delicious and a good portion of food. My date said his crab cake sandwich was delicious as well. I would definitely come back. The place is spacious with a huge bar area with lots of seating. I've here before and enjoyed the tuna poke bowl as well! So far the quality of food is consistent and haven't had one bad experience. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick bite or lunch out on the town at fair prices with many options!

Wow. It was pretty dreadful. Fish & chips were greasy (the uncleaned brown oil sort) and flavorless and generally nasty. The coleslaw was withered and limp. The kid ordered chicken strips from the kids menu that were dry and nasty too. Why oh why did we choose this place as our lunch date? I cannot believe I paid $41 for this. The staff was nice and attentive. But it is a restaurant after all and the food was inedible. This place has to shut down. Two hours later I still feel not-right from eating the little bit of that meal. Save yourself and the people you love, don't go.

This location of Matchbox is one of the many restaurants on Bethesda Row, but they do a great job of making an attempt to stand out in terms of their food quality and service. We made a reservation on a Saturday afternoon but there were still a lot of seating options that could have been available for a walk-in. Our bartender was very friendly and polite, and gave some recommendations when asked. We got the Monte Cristo sandwich from the brunch menu, which was delicious, with a mix of sweet and savory--French toast with strawberry jam, bacon, eggs, cheese, and smoked turkey in between it. Lots of calories but it was really tasty. We also tried the Crispy Half Chicken--24-hour brined chicken that's fried in broth, onions, garbanzo beans, coucous. It was really well seasoned and the coucous came in a light sauce that complemented the tender chicken. The service was great, and the restaurant was clean with a nice, subtle ambiance. Would love to stop by again!

This was a nice find near our hotel in Bethesda. We ordered a pizza and did not expect how fantastic it was. Their wood fired pizza has a unique sauce that we could not get enough of. We made a 2nd visit and ordered the ribs and again, WOW! Great service and great food!

Food was good. Cesar salad with chicken very good. Lightly dressed and chicken was tender. Veggie burger very good. Value good. Service very good.

Stopped in for a pizza. Service was excellent. Pizza pretty good. I liked the thin crust. My friend got the vegetarian with vegan cheese. Atmosphere was good. The booths are very roomy.

The service was slow and disengaged. The food was subpar and too small in quantity-- which is saying something as I usually say the opposite. We saw people receive undercooked(!) pizza. Pass!

This place deserves a 5 star review came to the bar with my friends for a few drinks . Let me tell you the bartender Tequila makes one great martini and that's all we drink her selections on appetizers were amazing she gave us the feeling of family being here . And I want to thank her for all she has done because my week wasn't going so well but because of her she made my night . Thank you again and I will be back.

Matchbox is not what it was 10-15 years ago. They used to have my favorite pizza's in the area. I would frequent the original Chinatown location weekly. I think they've gone through new ownership and maybe expanded too fast. The place is a shell of its former self. Slow and forgetful service. The pizza is meh. Pretty sure some of the recipes have been tweaked and not for the better. Specifically the chicken pesto pizza. I just don't look forward to going to Matchbox like I used to. It's sad. No wonder the 14th St location closed. The Bethesda Matchbox needs new management. The staff all seemed undertrained.

I came here for some dinner with my grand daughter food here is amazing they have a lot of great choices to choose from . my server Tequila ( I think she said that's her name ) was amazing on helping us choose food selections . I will be return soon with my family for a bigger dinner .

My daughter and I are around the corner getting ice cream. But I guess my husband wasn't in the mood for the same thing. So he grabbed a table on the patio at this place and ordered himself a drink and some dessert. The atmosphere was perfect and I did browse the menu since we recently had a friend mention loving their pizzas. My husband ordered a drink from the bar and said it was one of the better ones he's had in quite a while. He also ordered himself the carrot cake. It was absolutely huge! Perfect proportions of cake versus icing (lots of icing). It also was chock-full of large pieces of walnut. My husband was absolutely in love with it! I have to say that for me it just wasn't sweet enough. But that might be to your liking!

My excitement was two-fold, one to support a Black-Owned Business & the other to have a Vegan Beyond Sausage pizza to contribute to Yelp's June Luck Club. I missed the mark with the date, yet still got to delight in my pizza. Before being delighted, I had to call twice to get assistance with my online delivery order so I could apply my Reward. Brian, who took both of my calls was uber helpful & happy to assist. He also took it upon himself to make sure the crust was Vegan friendly. I tried to push my luck with the Onion Strings, yet he was quick to say they are good, yet unfortunately not Vegan friendly. Matchbox doesn't offer Vegan cheese (wishful yet) however, Brian said he tried the Beyond Sausage Pizza before & it was pretty good even without the cheese. He was right, as the sauce & toppings blended just right & I consumed four of the hearty eight slices. I did drizzle a little bit of Vegan Cheese on a few slices just to experiment, yet overall my pie was darn good. I'm a raging (tremendous) reward user & their free program offers an immediate reward upon sign up to use on your next visit. Earn when you spend - $1=1 point, 125 points = $10 reward, with a free birthday pizza. While dining in the app's check-in process provides another way to earn points. Aside from carryout/delivery, there is limited patio seating & they are open 7 days a week, times vary. Although a day late for the YLC, it was right on time for a wood-fired Vegan Pie. At the minimum, you're going to spend $21 for a 14" pizza. A quick shout out to Cecil for assisting Brian in assisting me.

I usually go to the Silver Spring location, but had some time before my nail appointment so I stopped in planning to get snacks off the HH menu. Turns out it's Restaurant Week (RW) in the DMV, so I sat at the bar and ordered a dragonfruit mojito while checking out their "social hour" menu. The cocktail was a bit too sweet for my taste, tasted ok but I likely wouldn't order it again. I decided to order the RW 3 course menu for dinner: apple & pear salad, miso salmon and brownie with salted caramel & ice cream for dessert. The salad was a large portion and pretty good, but leaned sweet for me. It could have used some red onion or more blue cheese to balance it out. Overall I enjoyed it and had leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The highlight of the meal was the miso sauce that came with the salmon. OMG I wanted to ask for a side to take home, it was sooooo good. I've had miso on Chilean sea bass before and enjoyed it, but this sauce was next level good!!! I had to get my dessert to go, so I wasn't late for my appointment, so not sure how well it will travel but I enjoyed my meal and will definitely return for that salmon dish. I also wanted to say a special thank you for the great service from the bartender Areg H (according to the receipt). He was working alone but managed to take care of everyone at the bar, was personable and nice enough to quickly close out my check and pack my food to go when I realized I was running late for my appointment.
