마테르 (MATER)

My husband and I came here for dinner on a Thursday evening in May. We had an amazing dining experience with Chef Kim and his team, who put together a scrumptious menu that was thoughtfully crafted from beginning to end. The ingredients were incredibly fresh and the dessert course had a special touch as they added a 'Happy Birthday' sign for me to celebrate my birthday. Throughout the dinner, either Chef Kim or his front-of-house staff would patiently explain the idea/ vision behind the course that was being served, which added so much depth to every mouthful. We enjoyed all the courses, and highly recommend Mater. My favourite was the abalone course, something that I will never forget - it was brilliant! When in Seoul in the future, we would revisit again without a doubt. I look forward to other genius creations that Mater will birth.

Interesting menu, it was well presented and the wine pairing was good with it. Waiters were friendly and the chef was engaging. Unfortunately I think its too ‘artistic’ and not enough food. I still felt hungry after the 12 or so courses.

It’s a Michelin Guide restaurant, and first of all, every dish is delicious. The chef kindly and thoroughly explains each dish. The atmosphere can feel a bit awkward since the music is quite low, but it’s a great spot for a date and offers great value for money. I’d love to visit every time the menu changes. Highly recommended!

I loved every dish—each one was full of creativity and amazing flavors. It was clear that a lot of thought went into the menu. I also really appreciated the small birthday treat they prepared for me; it was such a thoughtful and touching gesture.

Wow this was such an amazing experience some of the best food I've tasted with a huge pallet of flavours and delicate creations throughout all of the dishes. Super welcoming stuff and such a awasome addition of the chef bringing dishes to your table. Highly recommend. Will certainly visit again

Truly a 5 star restaurant- out of my recent fine dining experiences in Seoul this would definitely count as top 3. Dishes are well balanced, creative, and really interesting. So worth the price and can not recommend enough! ( burdock ice cream.. so good😋 )

This restaurant is truely phenomenal! We flew to Seoul all the way from New Zealand. The chef and staff all looked after us really well and the food was truely art on a plate. The flavours and textures all worked perfectly together and each course was meticulously thought of and put together. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Delightful meal from start to finish. Thoughtful and creative use of Korean ingredients with Asian and Nordic influences. My favourite dishes were the mussels (with edible shell), the shrimp dumpling, and the burdock ice-cream.
