"Matok is a bakery in South Austin that only takes online orders. The large menu includes standard baked goods like classic sourdough and scones, but it also has some exciting carb-based treats, including halvah chocolate chip cookies, knafe croissants, and babka cakes." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

OMG! I ordered 8 of the bundles of 6 for my office to celebrate "National Croissant Day". Wow! First of all - they're art just by looking at them - we didn't want to cut into them they were so beautiful; Secondly, every one of them was a hit - amazing flavor - and some of my coworkers had their favorites, but overall they exceeded our expectations!! We hope to see Chef Michaeli open a brick/mortar bakery, but until then we will order more through her online store!!! A+ 100 out of 10!

Best pastries in town and possibly Texas! Can’t say enough great things about this baker, they are amazing and create unique pastries that don’t just taste amazing but you couldn’t find anywhere else in town. We did the 6 piece taster to try out the different pastries and each were amazing! Especially the raspberry rose pastry. Was super flaky on top by a soft almost sponge cake in the middle. If you choose to try this spot, which you should, you’ll need to order online and then matok will text to coordinate your pickup order. Since they run out of their home. I’d recommend placing orders a couple days before you need them, just to give them time to get things ready and make sure you get the best pastry possible.

The level of talent and artistry in these pastries is insane. I got the box of six. It was all amazing.

This was by far the best local find for us in south ATX - the cake was so beautiful and so unique and so freaking delicious - never had anything like it from a commercial bakery. I can’t wait to try other things off her menu but if you’re looking for high end baking skills being so delicious , pls give this one a try ! we got the pistachio mousse cake and man was it out of the world 😍😍😍

I can't thank Michal enough for her kindness. My friend and I drove over two hours from Houston to Austin after seeing her pastries on Instagram, only to realize when we arrived that orders had to be placed a day in advance. I called, t9 let her know we are outside her door and she patiently explained that she is in the processof opening a bakery and works from home for now. I was already having a horrible week, and was about to break down in tears. however, since we had driven so far, Michal offered us a few samples she had made, and that small kind gesture truly turned my day around. The pastries were absolutely delicious, but more than that, her kindness meant everything to me that day. Thank you so much for going out of your way, and I will make sure to visit again once you open your bakery or just in call in advance next time ! :)

In my mind, there’s only two worthy pastry bakeries to mention in Austin. Austin has been lacking on the artisanal French style pastries and bakery. Enter Motak. Yes it’s run at a house (for now) but man every pastry and bread here is phenomenal. The flavors are delicate yet complex and they only use very high quality ingredients. It’s great because they don’t use a lot of sugar but maybe a lot of butter which is necessary. That and time. Everything is good here. I don’t have a favorite because it’s all good. Just try them all. They have some unique flavors too. It’s about 15-20 mins outside of downtown Austin. Sometimes I wish they were closer but I’m also happy they aren’t because I’d eat them all the time! The other bakery is Comadre.

Great communication about order pick up. I ordered a lot for Mother’s Day and it was all tasty and impressive. Amazing baker!!

This was some of the BEST baked items we’ve had in Austin. The Olive Zaatar sourdough was 🤤🤤 and the fougasse was unreal. The desserts were eaten in about 3 minutes. Can’t wait to order from here again!
