The Maine's Favorite Restaurants In Phoenix

"“Calling all fellow breakfast buds! In my opinion, the bar for serving a good breakfast is pretty low—I feel like anybody can do it, but to send it over the top, you really have to know what you're doing. Matt's has one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the game, full stop. It's called the five-spot, and it’s basically [a BEC] but cranked up to 11 with big fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy thick-cut bacon, american cheese, you know the drill. If pancakes are your jam, they make them from scratch and you can even throw some blueberries in the mix, which I absolutely do every time. Also, if you're eating breakfast without fresh squeezed OJ you're a monster, so definitely order a nice tall glass of that sweet nectar while you're there. My advice? Get there early—the line can get wild! But it’s still worth it if you have to wait, I promise!” - Jared Monaco" - jess basser sanders

Google
Having visited a number of times previously, I was really looking for to dining here on return trip to Phoenix. The food and service didn't disappoint. I opted for a cheddar cheese omelette with accompanying home fries, sourdough toast and jam. Wow. The omelette was cooked beautifully, the potatoes were super tasty with onion & rosemary and the toast was crispy on the outside yet fluffy and soft inside. The strawberry jam was homemade and delicious, so much better than from a jar. I also opted to try the honey lemonade. Once again, there is was disappointment here! It was a BIG glass of deliciousness. 😋 Service was warm and friendly and quick & efficient. You know a place is good when 'locals' dine there...and there were lots of locals in there. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this diner. Thank you, again.

Google
I will start this by saying anytime I see a Reuben on the menu I ALWAYS order it. It's my favorite sandwich. With that said, I have had a lot of reubens in my life and this one was honestly the BEST one I have ever had. The bread was soft but still toasted and it wasn't over sauced. Normally I always get Thousand Island on the side because places always put too much but this place made it perfectly. I also had a strawberry lemonade and it was also wonderful. Service was great and the employees were nice. Thanks for being kind and serving up great food. Ill be sure to stop back in on my next trip to Phoenix.

Checked out Matt’s Big Breakfast today with some friends who were visiting from out of town, and let me tell you—it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point: simple, cozy, old-school diner charm that feels like a warm hug from your favorite aunt (the one who makes killer pancakes). Now let’s talk about the food. Delicious. No frills, no fuss—just real, quality ingredients sourced from local partners and cooked perfectly. You can seriously taste the love (and possibly a bit of butter) in every bite. Shoutout to our server—tall, gorgeous, curly blond hair, glasses… basically Thor if he traded his hammer for a coffee pot. Sir, if you’re reading this, feel free to reach out—I tip well and enjoy long breakfasts on the beach. But seriously, Matt’s is the kind of place you want to take your out-of-town friends to so you can casually brag about how good your local spots are. 10/10 would recommend. 12/10 if Thor is working.

Google
Had Matt's for the first time today. The host was nice and sat me right away. The fresh orange juice was delicious but warm. The bacon is exactly what I was craving, and the sourdough bread plus the strawberry jam is a great combination. My 3 stars for food was because the hash browns were cold in the middle and gummy from the starch not being cooked all the way.

First Time Experience at Matt's Big Breakfast My wife and I recently visited Matt's Big Breakfast for the first time, and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the smell of breakfast was irresistible and welcoming. It’s clear that a lot of people love this place, as there was a noticeable crowd, and we had to wait for a table—always a good sign! For breakfast, my wife ordered the hog and chick which consist of sausage, scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, and hash browns, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I went for the waffle and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon was thick, soft, and perfectly warm—just the way I like it. To drink, we had sodas served in unique bottles, which was a fun touch. They also offer coffee and other drinks for those who prefer a warm beverage. We had the option of eating inside or outside, and we chose to sit outside, where there were plenty of tables to choose from. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the food definitely lived up to the hype. Overall, Matt’s Big Breakfast was a delightful first visit, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty, delicious breakfast. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Random vacation stop and we struck gold here! Probably the best homemade sausage patti I’ve ever had , homemade jam on scratch sourdough toast, eggs cooked perfect and pancake was delicious and definitely homemade. Only negative would be the coffee, although locally sourced was very light and weak. Quick service even though they were busy and all the servers work together to provide consistency. Definitely give this place a try if you’re looking for a local spot that hits all the marks.

Google
Went with wife for breakfast after reading the great comments. Staff were friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately our choosen breakfast dishes took very long. I believe it was because I ordered hard boiled poached eggs for my breakfast. Staff came constantly to check on us though. When arrived it tasted very good. Toilets need a bit of an overhaul.

Google
We went with 2 toddlers and ordered The Big Papa Burrito minus meats, Griddlecakes (pancakes), and Smallshed Avocado Toast. They were all so delicious! I never eat pancakes and ended up eating at least 1/2 of kids pancake. Avocado toast was delicious. The Big Papa Burrito was really BIG - and can definitely be shared. Fresh orange juice really was fresh and refreshing. The only thing we did not like were the lemonades - kids did not like them either. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting but would recommend going early - we got there at 7:15 AM on a Sunday and had to wait 15 or so minutes to be seated. It also got super busy later.

Yelp
Best breakfast in PHX! Came in on the weekend and they were seriously packed. Makes sense... They only use fresh and local ingredients! No freezers and no microwaves in 2025? Love the quality. They don't do sections they have team service which I haven't seen much before but service was great. Not sure how they handle all these people every weekend for such a small restaurant but I love to see them thrive! Local mom & pop places are seriously gems and this place is just that! Thanks for the great food, will be back!

Yelp
Walked over for what I thought would be a good experience. I haven't been here for years. Didn't turn out as I remember. The menu is a bit more limited, which is fine. Ordered an omelette, hash browns and sourdough toast. The omelette was bland to say the least, with what I think was canned mushrooms as an add-on. Not good. The bacon add-on was sparse to say the least. The hash browns were greasy, and of an odd color. The toast and jam were great though. No offer for a refill on coffee from the waitress. Had to ask for a cup to go several minutes after she placed the bill on my table. I used to tell people I work with to make Matt's a must visit at some point. I will no longer do that. Disappointed for sure.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I order the hog and chick, with over easy eggs, extra crispy bacon and the toast. Must order the house potatoes they're amazing!!! We also ordered blueberry pancakes! The syrup is actually real syrup, love that! Got the hit tea-$3.99 is steep for the price, but it was actually really good! We were seated quickly and the food came out quickly as well! It's sort of like steral hipster farm house vibes? Idk. It's simple and it's cute!

Yelp
The hash brown holy grail discovered--that should be the headline! These hash browns were truly browned and crisped to perfection. Haven't seen anything on this level before. You get the choice between hash browns and home fries when selecting potatoes. I don't think I'd ever have the heart NOT to pick these hashbrowns again, so the home fries might as well be dead to me. Sorry home fries. I picked the 5 spot platter for my entree. Perfect choice. Bread was a buttery croissant roll, housing beautifully crisp bacon, fluffy eggs, and flavorful cheesy onions. Next to the hash browns, this platter is a strong one-two punch that will knock you into a blissful food coma. Ambience was hip-industrial. Service was attentive with all hands on deck. Come visit!

Yelp
Food: the food was good and filling. They had a specialty menu with pumpkin pancakes and they were very good. Service: the staff was very friendly. They were pretty busy so they were running around quite a bit but they were nice. It really busy so we had to wait a bit to get seated. Ambiance: it's a little small/cramped in there but it felt like a diner where everyone knows the regulars. Parking: we didn't drive but it looked as if there was limited street parking only, but i could be wrong.

Yelp
I traveled to Arizona for the Usher concert for one of my 45th birthday celebration trips. I love finding good breakfast spots when I travel and boy did I find a good one with Matt's. It was very close to my hotel so I was able to walk and it was good to have a few blocks to walk back after eating so good. I had some of the best pumpkin pancakes!! Glad I made it by before the season was over. Now the SERVICE: horrible. It's very busy, so don't look for everything to come out right the first time and the manager was a little rude as I watched him talk bad about me in my face to the cook because they thought I couldn't see nor hear them ((maybe they didn't care)) and tried to blame me for the WELL DONE steak the cook kept giving me and I asked for medium ((he had steaks sitting out and instead of making me a new steak, he plated the old one)). Once this happened I was done and ready to go. Bring your patience if it's on the weekend and bring your appetite cause it's a lot of GOOD food for the most part.

Yelp
Hadn't been in, in awhile so it was ahhmazing to taste the place still holding it down strong. Amazing service the cooks that really know what they're doing for serving up quality goodness. They make they're maple syrup and that stuff costs so know that you're not dealing with the high fructose corn syrup most people are used to. They know what they're doing for sure. Come early or try and find a sweet spot for coming here because they are always busy so be prepared to wait a bit. Average noise but clean simple spot to enjoy some really good food.

Yelp
Visiting phoenix and tried this place as it seemed highly recommended. I got the blueberry griddle pancakes with a side of chicken sausage. My partner got the Hog And Chick combo which looked good. The potatoes and toast on that combo were very tasty! My pancakes unfortunately were quite dry but extra syrup (which seemed to be high quality syrup) solved that issue. The service was decent, maybe a little slow. The ambience inside was what you'd expect. Standard brunch place vibes but nothing special. Didn't add or take away from the experience. Also quite loud in there. Overall we had a nice time visiting but probably will try other places for breakfast next time.

Yelp
You have to check out Matt's Big Breakfast at. It's a 5-star spot that's totally worth a visit. We went there and had the salami scramble and the Wednesday special, and everything was amazing. The place is known for its hearty, delicious breakfasts made with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, like fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, perfectly cooked eggs, and buttery biscuits. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with friendly staff and a lively vibe. Despite being popular, the service is super efficient and accommodating, with staff ready to give recommendations or handle any special requests. It's a beloved spot for both locals and visitors, and it has a cult following for a reason. If you're ever in Phoenix, you have to stop by for a meal at Matt's Big Breakfast.

Yelp
Checked in name, waited, waited, waited, got skipped, left, never got to experience it. Lucky great spots nearby were quick.

Yelp
I opted for the waffle with bacon. Walk, don't run here and order that as well. This was hands down the absolute best waffle I've ever had. Sweet cream butter and 100% real maple syrup along with unreal bacon. Blown away at the first bite. MUST HAVE!

Yelp
Matt's big breakfast was a solid breakfast option. I got the five spot platter, and their strawberry honey lemonade. The five spot platter consists of their breakfast sandwich, two eggs which I got poached, bacon, cheese and potatoes. The sandwich was really good. Enough food for the price. The potatoes were nicely done, well seasoned and a little on the crispy side. I normally don't have lemonade for breakfast so glad I decided to go with the lemonade special. I could really taste the freshness and honey. It wasn't overly sweet as well. Our waitress was great through the entire dining experience. We came in super early for brunch so we didn't have any wait. I wish they had latte options not just plain coffee although bottomless. I hope to be back to try other food items on the menu.

Yelp
This place is very cute and homey. They are very busy and are able to turn tables very fast! However with this fast pace atmosphere the servers weren't very patient. When we were still looking at the menu two servers came by and asked us if we were ready within 5 mins of each other. We felt rushed and ultimately chose our food at random. The pancakes were the best things that we ordered, thankfully. The rest of our food was okay... the bacon wasn't crispy, couldn't really ask our server as they were wanting to move on to the next task/customer. The best thing that I ate was the home made blueberry preserve. This was the perfect amount of sweet but not artificial.

Yelp
As it was relatively highly rated on TripAdvisor, I came here despite a friend telling me "there's nothing special about it." And I was disappointed to say that this was basically true. I ordered the cheese omelette with cheddar, hash browns, and toast. The hash browns were nice and crispy but the omelette really was nothing special, as my friend says. The waitstaff was pleasant, but, again, nothing special. Well, I gave it a try, and that was about it. I do not see myself returning in the future. But as I tell everyone... try it for yourself and see.

Yelp
Our flight out of phoenix was delayed so we popped into Matt's Big Breakfast. It's always packed at the airport and people rave about it, so it was the perfect time to try them out, early on a Wednesday morning. They were busy but not quite a full house. We were seated right away. The service was spotty. Our server took our order and didn't come back to check on us for the rest of the meal. We ordered the basic breakfast and a blueberry pancake. The pancake was really good and the breakfast was A-OK. The scrambled eggs had a strange texture. As others have mentioned, it's quite loud. I'm glad we tried it but we won't be rushing back.

Yelp
Nice breakfast. Good quality food. No dedicated server, everyone seems to work together. Host/lead manager was a little rude, we walked in with our lattes and weren't allowed to bring them in - no outside drinks - I dont necessarily understand this rule, you don't have a espresso machine so why can't I bring my coffee in, you guys support local and it was from a local coffee shop. We also had an issue with our card at the end of the meal and the same employee interacted with us and wasn't the greatest about it again. Nice bacon and sourdough bread. Get an espresso machine, if you want me to buy your coffee.

Yelp
I use to always see this place on yelp and I always wanted to stop by and give it a try. Let me say I will probably never stop by again. The food lacked flavor, the servers looked like they cared more about cleaning tables than assisting their tables, I had asked for the sauce on the side for my burrito and it never came out. I had to ask our waitresses a second time for the sauce and she seemed annoyed I even asked...
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
Came in for breakfast which is normally what I get but today decided to try one of their sandwiches. I got the Rueben and it was very very tasty. I liked the bread and that it wasn't toasted super crunchy. It was soft and had nice flavor. The meat was perfectly sliced and not greasy which I always appreciate. The sandwich came with 1000 island dressing, cheese and I opted to not have sauerkraut on it. Also came with a yummy pickle and home made potato chips that were crunchy until I finished the last one at dinner. Staff was helpful in my to go order. Restaurant is on the smaller side especially compared to the big new one in Gilbert but has a nice cozy charm about it. I usually sit at the counter that looks outside when I dine in.

Yelp
We were here on a Sunday around 830ish AM. Parking was abundant at this time, however, it was metered parking. The ones closest to MBB took quarters and card. My friend who lives in DT PHX recommends to always have coins in case the meters don't take cards. As of 04/2024, it is $1.50 per hr to park with a 4 hr limit. I like their menu and their choices as it is varied and has a little bit of everything. FOOD: My fiancé and I enjoyed most of the food. The toast here is very thick and not what I'm used to with other breakfast or brunch style. I liked it though. Super buttery and crunchy. It tasted even better with the jam preserves. And it was blueberries when we were there; not sure if it rotates or is always blueberries. I ordered the bacon originally and wished I stuck with the bacon. The sausages has flavor, but just lacked juiciness. It was very dry and much smaller than anticipated. They told me they were small, but not this small. It's barely bigger than the width of the preserves (see picture). SERVICE: I'm not sure if the server we had was new, training, or her first day. But she took our order and it didn't come out correctly and was dropped off to another table. We also saw that other tables that came after us got their food. I'm not sure if that's the cook's fault or her fault (whether she put in other people's order first or someone else beat her to sending their orders before ours). I had ordered hash browns and not the house potatoes. Usually my fiancé and I like to get different things to try each others and leave reviews. But we both got the same potatoes. I didn't find it in me to mention it to her since she seemed very flustered and I don't like to send food back to the kitchen. We had also ordered the griddle cake and never received that. We decided to not ask for it and leave. We made sure it wasn't on the receipt they gave us. We can see this place being very busy especially during weekend brunch! They have indoor and outdoor seating. The space inside is very small and can fill up very easily during the rushes. But the vibe is great to meet up with friends or family. We'd definitely come back to this place if we're ever in the area!

Yelp
In short - NOT BIG food, however big-ly expensive. Food is good, service and ambiance were okay. Service is group serving, so you don't get one person to yourself, just 5 people asking you the same questions. The reason for the 2 stars is because we were expecting BIG breakfast because of the name - it indeed was very average size. My husband is a large eater and was so excited to order a double cheeseburger, then was so disappointed with what was given. Maybe 8-10oz of meat total. Additionally, when I saw the prices online, I figured they were steep because of how much food you get, again, not the case. Just a $70 lunch for basic sizes. We spent $25 on a double burger. Can you imagine? Even the additional pancake we got was $7. It was again average size. I have a newly 3 yr old, and he ate the ENTIRE thing. Also they don't offer a kids menu. So my son's eggs and pancake that he ate completely, was $12. Receipt for proof. If you go for big food, you will be disappointed.

Yelp
First time here, was delicious! The food was quite a lot for a great price and was amazing. Coffee was great, atmosphere was very pleasant. Service was good, great place to hang out.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday for brunch. There was a long line out the door and several people sitting around waiting for their name to be called. Half the people waiting ended up at Churchill for a grab and go breakfast instead. It was about twenty minutes till we were called. We sat by the bar since there was not much space available. I ordered the Five Spot Platter which was a breakfast sandwich on a roll with two eggs, two slices of bacon, American cheese, grilled onions, and a side of home fries. I wanted to order an iced coffee to go with my meal since it was a hot day but they didn't have it available. They only had a cold brew can available for $6.00 which is ridiculous. How hard would it be to make an iced coffee and serve it for half the price. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. For such a long line and wait I was expecting something breath taking. The food was decent but lack of iced coffee really threw me off. This is a decent place but I probably won't wait on line again.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
I was excited that there wasn't a wait because I've heard they are usually super busy. We went on a Thursday, so that is probably why. They don't have a lot of tables but it is quaint. I loved all of the pig decorations. They have a smaller menu, but it was still hard to choose what to order. I chose the iced coffee to start, which is their own brand. For breakfast, I ordered THE FIVE SPOT PLATTER. It is a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, grilled onions and cheese. I made the mistake of getting over easy eggs and it was a mess. the sandwich was very good though. The hashbrowns were amazing! They were super crispy. My husband had a short stack of pancakes, bacon and hashbrowns. We will be back and maybe try out one of their other locations.
google avatar

Amer H.

Yelp
The blandest of them all. No seasonings at all, hash browns were loaded in bread crumbs or something. Coffee tasted mid and they don't have vanilla creamer. service was ok. The only thing I liked about that dish was the jam.

Yelp
It is very hard to give a place only one star. Usually, they deserve at least two. MATT'S BIG BREAKFAST, in Terminal 4, Phoenix Airport DOES DESERVE only one. If I could give them a negative rating, I would. Let's start with the service. I have never, in all my 57 years, had a person be as rude as the woman who was at the register. She took my order, although she surely did not want to. It interrupted her gossip session. Second, the atmosphere. A young man and woman, sat at one of the empty tables, (Matt's was not busy), with Burger King food. They had a small baby with them. One of the servers came over and said this is for our customers. You have to leave. You can go stand by Burger King. While it is true the tables are for Matt's customers, empathy goes a long way. Also the way a person is talked to means alot. Finally the food. I ordered the Pig and Chic. That is two eggs, three bacon, home fries and toast. I requested my eggs over easy, and my bacon extra crispy. The photos are my thousand words. My eggs were nearly well done, my bacon limp, the toast so hard I could not eat it and the potatoes were cold and old. I returned to the checker with attitude, and she stated that is how the breakfast is done. I left my meal there and went to McDonald's. Where my food was fresh, hot, and good. Do I recommend Matt's? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Take my word for it. Go somewhere else.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
Listed as a side for many dishes, do not sleep on the potatoes. They come with most of the breakfast dishes and it is amazing. It comes with cheese, meat, rosemary, and a few other ingredients. It's very good. My daughter enjoyed the chili. (It has a slight kick to it.) My wife loved the special scramble. The "Five Spot Platter" was a delicious breakfast sandwich with the potatoes on the side. For a refreshing drink, get the bottomless iced tea. It's not sweet and unique tasting.

Yelp
a must-visit for anyone craving hearty, comforting breakfast dishes. This local favorite in downtown Phoenix has built a loyal following thanks to its simple yet flavorful menu. Whether you're in the mood for a classic breakfast like the "Two Eggs Any Style" with crispy bacon or something more indulgent like the fluffy pancakes, everything is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The cozy, no-frills vibe makes it feel like a hometown spot, and the friendly service adds to the charm. It's the perfect place to fuel up before a busy day or unwind with a relaxed meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was meh..not enough salt or flavor on most items. My order was the grains bowl and man, that was quite disappointing. Tasted like undercooked grain and beans with absolutely no flavor. And the liquid just pooled at the bottom. Resembled dog food. Even with ketchup it was bad. If I was just going off this dish, it would be 1 star. My friend's waffles with maples bacon was decent. My favorite would have to be the seasonal pumpkin Griddlecake. Make sure to spread the cinnamon butter while it's still hot. Wish they gave more of that as it paired so well with the pumpkin spice. That's probably the only thing I would consider coming back for. A few customer parking spaces behind the restaurant. This place was packed on a Monday morning.

Yelp
Great breakfast! I had the hog and chick, upgraded to the ham, with crispy hash browns. My husband had the Blueberry pancakes with bacon. All of it was delicious! Highly recommend this spot

Yelp
At least the food is better than the service but still not worth it. Maybe save your money & go somewhere else?

Yelp
Whenever I fly to Arizona, the first thing I do after leaving the PHX airport is make my way to Matt's Big Breakfast. Is it that special? No. It's just a tradition for me now, and I love it. Nothing novel, but it's home-y. It's simply an American breakfast. Located in the heart of Arizona, Matt's Big Breakfast offers a straightforward and inviting setting to enjoy a hearty breakfast. The cozy ambiance and a menu that sticks to breakfast classics make it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. - The Five Spot Platter: A comforting breakfast sandwich on a roll featuring two eggs, two slices of thick-cut bacon, American cheese, and grilled onions. It's served with a choice of potatoes, making it a satisfying meal to kickstart the day. 5/5. - The Hog & Chick: This dish gives you the classic breakfast staples with two eggs and a choice between thick-cut bacon or country sausage. It's served with toast and a choice of potatoes. There's an option to substitute the meat with off-the-bone ham for an extra charge, offering a bit of flexibility to suit your taste. It's usually my go-to order. 5/5. - Salami Scramble: A great scramble of three eggs with Molinari sopressata salami, offering a savory start to the day. It's served with toast and a choice of potatoes, providing a balanced meal to fuel your morning. I always find this too salty, so ask for less if you're health-conscious. 4/5. - The Chop & Chick: A hearty offering of two eggs paired with a skillet-seared Iowa pork rib chop, served with toast and a choice of potatoes. 4/5. - BLT: Any other BLT. You can't mess that up. Nothing too special. 3/5.

Yelp
Really fantastic portions at this place. We showed up at 9:30 AM on a Friday morning and the place was packed. However, the service moved fast and we were able to get seated within 20 minutes. We ordered the Waffle with Bacon and the Five Spot Platter (I.e. breakfast sandwich with hash browns). Both were fantastic. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and light and airy on the inside! On the breakfast sandwich, the bun felt a little dense but the flavors were all very good overall. Overall would recommend this place to anybody visiting from out of town. Guy Fieri gave this a thumbs up and we do too.

Yelp
I keep trying Matt's because of the positive reviews, but I think I'm finally giving up. I just don't get it. The only good thing is that I didn't have a long wait for a table. My table was not very clean and there was a discarded napkin next to my table that got ignored the whole time we were there. There appeared to be confusion about who was supposed to serve our table: I needed to wave someone down several times for service throughout the meal. Other tables on either side of us got their food sooner even though they were seated later. The menu is pretty limited, and I found my dish, the daily scramble, very bland in spite of the inclusion of chiles. My partner's breakfast burrito was mostly tortilla and not much filling. Coffee was just okay. Basically, I think this place is very overrated. Three times is enough with the same experience, so I'm not going to try again.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place for breakfast and it did not disappoint!! There was a slight wait but we were seated and served quickly. Our waiter took great care of us and was extremely friendly. I'd recommend Matt's and definitely go back!!

Yelp
After an hour wait, which is normal, I was sat at the counter near a plastic bin of restaurant materials and without a special menu - like the customers that sat next to me. 7 min in I got a cup of coffee from a waitress. The guy in front of me doing Togo orders virtually ignored me and my empty cup. 15 minutes I asked another waitress if I could get a refill and she asked him if he could pour me a cup because the coffee was about 10 inches away from where he was. 30 minutes and still no breakfast so I asked another waitress if she could check. I have to assume she was so in the weeds that my order was not put in. 5 minutes later I was served. Potatoes were cold to the touch. Nothing special about the omelette. The bread was very good and so was the coffee. If you're a table for 1, beware. Not all DDD places are "amazing " Food C-, service D-, Ambience C. Coffee B+

Yelp
The food was incredible! We went on a Tuesday morning and it was quite busy but once we got seated it was nice. We got our drinks right away, the orange juice we ordered was warm so that wasn't ideal. We were sat at the counter that faced the entrance so we got to people watch as we ate. Our waffles were absolutely incredible. Overall the experience was good!

Yelp
Cute breakfast spot, our wait was about 20 mins on a Friday! The service was fast and food was delicious. My favorite was their blueberry pancakes. Excited to try the other good items on the menu next time I visit.

Yelp
A little bit of a wait on a Saturday (30min) shorter if you have two people because of how the tables are set up. Nothing special about the food except portions are huge, hence the name of the place. Service was ok, felt a little rushed...seems like they are trying to turn tables as quick as possible.

Yelp
Great service! Absolutely loved that they had freshly squeezed orange juice and lemonade! Great area! Amazing food! Good vibes!

Yelp
Food is so bland and too extremely buttery so gross. I could feel it all around my tongue and mouth. Wait was too long and menu is so limited. Literally tasted exactly like food made in microwave. Even IHOP is a better choice. Server made me feel rushed. Don't fall for the good reviews, they don't have tastebuds.

Yelp
The service & food was great! Everything was delicious. I will come back next time I visit Phoenix.

Yelp
Matt's Big Breakfast Their wait list was managed great & was shorter than expected. Highlights were their staff, who were friendly and attentive. Their coffee is delicious too I'm not sure what their butcher told them was thick cut. Their bacon is regular cut and a BLT should have more than 2 slices of bacon thick cut or regular cut after all it's a Bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich. I'm told that their pancakes are amazing and my husband enjoyed their daily scramble. To be fair I'm not going to discuss their prices because i don't go out to restaurants very often let's just say I was "sticker" shocked. I was finally able to go to a Matt's big breakfast and was more than disenchanted, disappointed and lighter in my pockets than expected. And that's all I've got to say, I'm really glad i like to cook and I'm told I'm a great cook too. Cheers if you get to visit Matt's i hope you have a great experience

Yelp
With over 2.5K reviews and a 4 star rating, I had high expectations for Matt's Big Breakfast. We came during peak lunch hours and the wait for three was only ~10 minutes despite how busy the restaurant is. They definitely try to get you in/out here, though, as we felt rushed right when we sat down. Decided on the Big Papa Burrito, which lived up to its name as this burrito was pretty big. It came stuffed with scrambled eggs, chorizo, diced potatoes, pinto beans, jalapenos, and cheddar cheese, and was topped with (more) cheese and ranchero sauce. The burrito itself was just okay. I could barely taste the chorizo and it seemed to be stuffed with more eggs and potatoes than anything else. Don't think I'd get this one again if I ever came back here. My two friends enjoyed their meals, though.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot! We were in a bit of a rush so we ordered takeout and then just ate outside the restaurant on a bench. We had The Hog & Chick with scrambled eggs, country sausage, toast, and hashbrowns. We enjoyed our food but would not rush back.

Yelp
Great service, the entire staff was attestation to your needs. They have bar seating and table seating. Decent size with open area seating, it is loud with all the conversations going on. My friend and I both got griddle cakes, scrambled eggs, and a side of bacon. The griddle cakes did not come with sides so you have to order those separately. The griddle caes were fluffy and a nice size. You get 3 of them and we couldn't finish them all. The food overall was good and we would eat here again.

Yelp
Idk how it has such great reviews, food and service was meh. I live right down the street and I'll never go back.

Yelp
Matt's has the best Belgium waffle we've ever had. Every time we come to Phoenix this is our first breakfast stop, it never disappoints! Their bacon is also best I've had, as well as basically everything else!

Yelp
Delicious food! Love the fresh fruit preserves on the toast. The chop and chick is a well seasoned bone in pork chop with your choice of eggs, and gotta get the home fries which has onions and fresh rosemary. The best way to start a day is with this in your belly!
