Mattina Bella Restaurant

We like this this restaurant. This second time we have visited this nice restaurant. We live 400 miles away!!! Service is great and people working there make you feel welcome. And, food is great.

Update: This is still one of my favorite restaurants. If you have never been here, I highly recommend that you try it. Additional update: A GREAT BURGER! My wife ordered a burger, and we love burgers. I didn't expect to get a great hamburger here but it was one of the best - with grilled onions, a smoky barbeque sauce, and cooked perfectly medium rare. This place continues to amaze. This is one of my highest 5 star ratings and my favorite restaurant. The service is always excellent. Almost everything we've ever had there ranks among the better or best that we've had anywhere. On this day my wife had eggs Benedict but chooses to have it on their fluffy biscuit. I had the Grilled Chicken Bella Salad. The pecans, cranberries, and apple give it a fresh taste with lots of different textures. If you come on Sunday morning for brunch, expect a wait but it's worth it.

Me and my husband just left from this restaurant that we tried for the first time. Definitely not impressed at all. Food was unseasoned, the grits needed loads of butter and salt and pepper, the potatoes needed salt and ketchup to make them taste better, the blueberry pancakes the blueberry compote was bitter and just tasted awful. The husband had gotten the atchafalaya omelet and it wasnt good either. The server we had was nice as she had removed the pancakes from our check but didn't have the nerve to tell them that all the food was terrible as there was a good bit of people in there so I didn't want to embarrass them.

Amazing! Everything we tried was so good. I had the Eggs Louisiane (pictured). Service was quick and hospitable. Was greeted with smiles by all the staff. Friendly atmosphere. My only honest complaint is that it's very loud. The whole space is filled with happy customers and people waiting to be seated, so be prepared for that, especially if you have a group. However, it is completely worth it and will definitely go back. It's just an FYI in case of sound sensitivity.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden Gem Worth the Drive I hesitate to even write this because I’d love to keep Martina Bella a secret just for my girlfriend and me—but people deserve to know how special this place really is. We visit about twice a month when she’s off on Saturdays. It's a peaceful 20–30 minute drive from Hammond to Covington, and we actually enjoy the ride. The wait to be seated is usually short, even when it’s busy. The service is always friendly and professional—clearly a team that cares. The coffee is always fresh and hot, just the way it should be. The owner often greets guests at the door herself, making sure everything flows smoothly. Her staff resets the tables immediately so no one waits too long. The food? Absolutely fantastic. I’m a big Eggs Benedict fan and have tried just about every version they offer. My new favorite is the Eggs Benedict Louisiane—shrimp, peppers, onions over two grit cakes. Incredible. My girlfriend usually gets the Western omelet, and it’s always made fresh and comes out hot. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and everything tastes like it was made with care. I would name the servers, but honestly—they’re all excellent. Martina Bella has become a regular stop for us, and we look forward to it every time.

Delicious brunch spot! The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and light, with blueberries both on top and inside. The grilled chicken bella salad was outstanding! I've had similar salads elsewhere, but there's was perfect. The grilled chicken and dressing was tasty, good mix of fruit, nuts, cheese. The service was good, and everyone was friendly. They were PACKED on a Saturday at 12, and the tables are really close together. Just a short wait time. Also there's only street parking from what we could find, so we had to walk a ways

This is a must try breakfast/brunch spot! They have people coming to eat until the last minute! We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for the appetizer. It’s likely the best dip I’ve had but definitely the best homemade chips I’ve had! The chips taste like wontons! I ordered the American Cheese Burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked to order, I ordered medium and the cook nailed it! My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and she loved it, says it’s 10/10. Our best friend ordered the special, it was BBQ shrimp and grits. She says the shrimp were seasoned perfectly, and the grits were a little greasy. Overall great experience, food, and service! I added pictures of all our plates.

Hands down best place in Covington to eat! We absolutely love this restaurant! My girlfriend and I like to sit outside always a view.

My wife and I dropped by Mattina Bella in Covington today for lunch and it was excellent. An attractive location in a vintage building adjacent to downtown, Mattina Bella has an appealing ambiance of casual elegance and features a focused menu of breakfast and brunch favorites with a great range of signature omelets and pasta dishes, along with sandwiches and salads as well. Service was friendly and efficient and our iced tea glasses (very good tea!) were never allowed to be empty. Ashley took excellent care of us this afternoon. I had the chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta. It was tender and succulent and the accompanying French bread toast was tasty. My wife had the chicken Caesar salad and it was very good, with a great dressing. Portions sizes were generous and we left full. No room for desserts today, but several appealing sounding ones were available. We look forward to to returning and trying the breakfast fare. Mattina Bella is highly recommended!

Brunch and lunch spot located in historic downtown Covington. I have been about 10 years since I have been here and the food is even better now. I started with an Irish coffee which was delicious. For my meal I had the Louisiana crab eggs Benedict. It was the best eggs Benedict I have ever had in my life. Instead of a English muffin, it was a grits cake. It was also talked with andouille and crawfish.

I've never been disappointed or unsatisfied at this restaurant. They open for breakfast and lunch only, and they do those two meals wonderfully. The food is always great! The service is good, and they make the best salad in town! I stand by that! The Grilled Chicken Bella Salad, with it's house made Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing if absolutely the most delicious salad I've eaten. And I've traveled all over the world. I've eaten several other meals from there, and not one has been a disappointment. No ha yet what you choose, you can't go wrong. The dining area itself is relatively small, but very cozy. It can be a tiny bit loud from time to time, but nothing overwhelming. It's usually a friendly crowd and laughter & chatting rolls through the room with ease. Believe me, you'll love it.

I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner because this is one of my all-time favorite breakfast places. The food is outstanding and so are the prices. While eating out these days almost requires a home equity loan, you can get a fantastic breakfast and still walk out with money in your pocket. Yesterday, my son and I went there, and he had steak and eggs with grits, and I had a lump crabmeat (a lot) Benedict for less than $40. That crab Benedict, along with the salmon Benedict and the lump crabmeat omelet, are three of my favorites. But, everything is fantastic and the service is as well. If you've never been, then now is the time.

We arrived just before closing and waitress told us to come on in and made us feel welcome. The food was incredible the red sauce was delicious (but not acidic)with a hint of sweet to it I had the meat balls and the wife veal Parmesan meals came with rosemary garlic bread. It sound weird but we shared a blueberry waffle with extra blueberries for desert. The restaurant was decorated nicely with tablecloths. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend others try this restaurant

I hate you're about two or three times a month and I used to just get the breakfast items but lately I've been eating the daily specials and they are some of the best on the North Shore. The roast beef, mashed potatoes, and vegetables I had and they have every Tuesday what is the best tasting roast beef I have ever had in my lifetime and believe me I've had a lot. Today the chicken with mushrooms and artichokes was also very good. The staff here is amazing and the owner is pretty cute to.

You can't beat a classic breakfast AND lunch in downtown Covington when it comes to Mattina Bella! It's been a bit since I've been due to my brother's restaurant opening down the street, but it still has great food! Breakfast is always a hit, be sure to get there early on the weekend as a lot of old timers tend to go to breakfast at Mattina Bella! If the restaurant is packed, it can get a little loud with conversation, but overall the general experience is great!

Just finished up another great meal at MB. This time it was lunch and I had the company of my husband. I got the Redfish salad and swapped the pepper jelly dressing for the balsamic its typically served with. Since moving to LA, I cannot get enough of pepper jelly and this dressing was excellent. It was a great compliment and contrast to the salty bleu cheese and tender/flaky/flavorful blackened redfish. My husband had a chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. Cooked at his temperature of choice, he had gouda and added onions for thanksgiving extra flavor and texture. We had mismosas and coffee with the meal. A simple touch to finish up the complexly flavored meal. As usual, service was excellent and the restaurant was filled with lively families enjoying a perfect weather Saturday!

Excellent service and excellent food. The very first time I ordered hash brown potatoes and they were hot( temperature ) on the plate excellent. Our food was excellent the staff was courteous. We will return and advertise this restaurant.

Mattina Bella is a great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot located in a historical building in the center of Old Covington. The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always above average. I've eaten there on and off for many years and have never been disappointed. I dropped by this Sunday for brunch with a guest from out of town, and they knocked it out of the park. They have a signature brunch dish, Eggs Louisiane, that is a beautiful combination of crawfish and andouille served in an eggs Benedict style on a grit cake that is absolutely exceptional. You won't find better anywhere in the New Orleans region, and that's saying a lot. They seem to get better and better every year, and that includes both the food and the hospitality. You're always treated like a welcome guest. They also take dietary restrictions very seriously and will happily accommodate special requests. Also, in this era of rapidly rising prices, they remain a great value for the money.

This a great place for brunch. It's gets a little loud at times, but not unbearable. The paneer veal is really good along with the eggplant sticks.. I have never had a bad meal here. The service is always great.

Food,service,atmosphere excellent. However the coffee is not. Even fresh brewed it had no body and tasted dirty (like dirt). Please change the brand. You are not doing yourselves any favors by falling flat on something so important as the cup of coffee.

This place is a gem. The food was out of this world and the service was right there with it. Our waitress was amazing. Super friendly. The food WOW is all I can say. We just happen to find this place while looking for another. Glad we decided to stop. I had the combo plate with bacon and my son has the blue crab eggs, Benedict and it had a lot of lump crab meat in it. We will most definitely be back. If your able to visit this place you must you will not be disappointed.

Mattina Bella is a welcoming restaurant in downtown Covington. The restaurant is warm, well kept with tons of indoor seating. The employees are friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves great pancakes, waffles, and other breakfast items along with great lunch options.

This is a great breakfast spot. The eggs Benedict with bacon (not Canadian) is delicious! The side of breakfast potatoes are yummy as well. They also offer gluten free English muffins, which is a huge draw for us. We like to come here for breakfast any time we visit Covington. Make sure to get there early on the weekend, it fills up fast.

This place is awesome. There's a reason it's packed. The food is fantastic, staff is great, the owner is there to greet each customer. I read some of the very few who were critical but I think that's a very small small small minority. The rest of the world will love this place. If you are looking for a great breakfast and wonderful atmosphere Mattina Bella's is the place for you.

My first visit was outstanding. Check out my photo of the crawfish omelet. It was delicious. Our waitress was precious and the food came out fast. My friend really liked his "low carb" breakfast with eggs over easy and a biscuit on the side. Grits were good, too.

Used to be a favorite place ... but service was horrible this time. Ordered coffee and No cream on table - took me a while to catch the attention of server to ask for some. Then my server and another disappeared in to an office behind closed door while I waited to order. Finally I had to ask the only lady working if I could order. She went and got my server from the office. My server then came to table with terrible attitude like I was disturbing her. She continued to have an attitude thru rest of meal including plopping my plate down when my food came out causing the food to slid all over the plate. Luckily another server checked on me ... mine never came back till she came with the check. Her name from the check was Ally - with red hair. Hopefully management will address her issues or encourage her to find another vocation.

I had the double blueberry waffle and it was excellent! Service was meh, my waitress seemed to be completely consumed by a 2 top that came in after us but was ordered and completely served before we were asked what we wanted. Maybe they were important people I don't know. But, the food here is excellent and the service is usually really good.

Okay, let's start with with decor. Very "old school" chairs, hard and pine colored sit immediately straight up with terrible noises as they scrape across the floor being dragged out from under the table or pushed under. The rest of the decor is mostly non committal to a certain design style and the tables are covered with white paper, made anew for each new set of customers,a feature which I like. The inside of this place is like being at a train station, so LOUD. Obnoxiously loud, if you are someone with PTSD for loud noises do not come here, or any anxiety of people sitting closely together with a lot of loud noises. I couldn't enjoy my very tasty breakfast because the atmosphere was so crazy. Next, our server was not a happy camper and forced smiles along with about half of the wait staff from what I could gander. News flash, you're customer will know if you are being genuine or not. Lastly, the food is awesome. Everything we ordered was good except the grits which were beyond bland, no flavor at all. Pancakes are probably top 3 best I've eaten in my whole life. The omelettes were cooked perfectly, no browned eggs. The biscuits were tender and flaky! The sourdough toast on point! Sausage patties are very thin, look like pre-frozen, not impressed but the bacon very very good and cooked perfectly. To the staff: perk up or at least be genuine, your customer wants you to be yourself, pretending not needed. Secondly, get some good homemade apple butter and jelly for those biscuits, the corporate company jelly/jam does them no justice whatsoever.

The food was delicious. We had the banana pancakes and steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfect and the banana pancakes were so fluffy! The service was great, we were in and out in no time.

Wow what a great place in downtown Covington, a jewel of a historic town. Want to explore more and Mattina Bella gives me a reason to come again, and again, and again. Especially for the yummy brunch: you need at least 8 visits to try the different omelettes: my group was thumbs up to the lump crab omelette. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon is another winner. Both diners loved the creamy yet not overpowering hollandaise sauce. Real hungry? Go for the waffles or pancakes: huge, fluffy, perfect. Coffee is spot on and a word about service: outstanding. A surprise because often in the small town places the service is uneven. And for the traditionalists--like me--the eggs, bacon, grits breakfast is near perfect, thick crispy bacon and grits of a perfect consistency. Go for the multigrain toast--sets off the bacon perfectly. It's all good here--can't wait to visit again.

I enjoyed my first trip to Martina Bella. My husband and I split the Eggs Sardou, the blueberry waffle and a side of bacon. Everything was vEry good. The spinach and artichoke on the eggs was like spinach and artichoke dIP, and it was delicious. The blueberry topping was not too sweet. We would definitely come back!

Just absolutely stellar. Went for Sunday brunch at a busy hour and received great service. Very friendly host. The food- was phenomenal. We had a pecan waffle, the special off the day BBQ shrimp and grits and eggs Sardou. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Truly just well-done classic New Orleans cuisine with lots of flavor and executed perfectly. Best waffle I've ever had & best shrimp & grits hands down. Such a charming place

This place is wonderful inside and out!! I love the quality of the food! The omelet was amazing, and I didn't want it to end! The server was kind and pleasant. The potatoes were fresh! Grits were perfectly buttered and salted. The omelet was freshly made and each flavor married the next! I will definitely be back! (SOON).
