Where To Drink With Your Out-Of-Town Friends In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Your brother from Tampa’s version of karaoke is singing loudly in a Buffalo Wild Wings until he gets thrown out. Show him the real deal and get him to Max Karaoke in Little Tokyo. Located inside a gigantic indoor mall, Max is everything you want in private room karaoke, but we’d be lying if we said it wasn’t known for one thing - BYOB. Roll in with a 30-rack of cheap beer or whatever your drink of choice is and employees will graciously turn their backs. Just don’t get him kicked out before the night even starts." - brant cox, brett keating

On the Grid : Max Karaoke Studio

"Private room karaoke. VIP Rooms for those in-the-know and a BYOB and food (and helium tanks) policy. Boasting a massive selection (frequently accompanied by suitably cringe-worthy DIY video clips), Max’s also uses a downloadable app for its regulars, making browsing the catalogue more user-friendly. It’s open till 3am (4am on the weekends) and reservations are advised." - Sandwich Video

11 LA Spots Where It’s OK To Get Kind Of Drunk Right Now

"Remember karaoke bars? While places from Sawtelle to Ktown have reopened their doors, if you’re looking to get truly weird with your friends, go to Max Karaoke. The iconic bar inside the Little Tokyo Galleria mall is offering private rooms for three to twenty-five people, plus one of the most thorough song books in the city. What makes Max so special, though, is their BYOB policy. You’re allowed to bring unlimited wine and beer (and obviously, hard seltzer), making your night not just a wild one, but one where you aren’t continuously spending money on drinks." - brant cox

Where To BYOB in LA

"Disclaimer: Max Karaoke is zero parts restaurant and all parts karaoke joint. But the fact that you can roll in with a 30-rack of beer and the waitstaff will simply smile is reason enough to believe magic still exists. Located in a mall in Little Tokyo, Max Karaoke gets wild fast, but this is private room karaoke, so at least the only people judging you will be your friends." - brant cox

We absolutely love love LOVE this place, whenever we need to let loose and sing our feelings out my best friend and I come here. We LOVE the service, they are very friendly make sure we are doing good :) they have great snacks but allow you to bring food/other snacks in as well! (Copied and pasted from my Yelp review:)

Impossible to not have a good time here! They’ve changed some of the rules up. Now they carry beer and wine, so there is no more BYOB. If you bring food, there’s a fee per person. If you bring alcohol and they catch you, it’s $20/can they find. Must be 21+, IDs are required. There are some interesting signs and rules posted around the club that make you wonder about what happened here in the past 😅 I went with a party of 8. We booked a mid-size private room for 3 hours with 2 mics. They charge per person. The more people, the less per person. We got 3 pitchers of beers and a couple bottles of Prosecco. It was around a $550 tab when we paid at the end of the night. Download the Healsonic app for free to easily line up and manage songs on screen.

This business is known to charge a hidden gratuity fee. Recently has charged charge those double on top of the hidden fee. We also charge those double for the drinks. A bill that should have been around 700 was actually over 1400. Max karaoke is currently violating California law SB478. Since they're gratuity fee is a hidden fee not even listed anywhere until you get the bill. I will never go back to this business again and the saddens me cuz I used to come here pre-Covid all the time with my friends. I have also filled a complaint with the state of California attorney general.

I made a reservation here for a private room for 2 hours. Before making the reservation, I called and spoke to a staff member to find out if I could book for a smaller window since we only needed the room for one hour. I was told that 2 hours was the minimum, but we were welcome to come and use it during whatever part of the booking we wanted. So imagine my dismay when we arrived an hour into the booking only to rudely be told by the front desk employee that our reservation had been cancelled because we were late. I tried explaining about the conversation I’d had before booking, but he told me I should’ve read the email, and it was my fault for not showing up on time. We asked if we could still have the room for the remainder of the booked window. He said we could, but he would still charge us the cancellation fee on top of the room rate. I told him I would dispute the charge if he charged me for both the cancellation and the booking (I would’ve been happy to pay the full 2-hour booking rate that I’d agreed to, but I saw absolutely no reason to pay an additional $50 for using the room for less than our allotted time). He then he called me rude and said he would no longer let us have the room, so we left. I’m very disappointed as I was looking forward to a fun karaoke sesh with my friend, and I would never book here again for fear of another night being ruined by a rude employee on a power trip.

It is fun place a bit old though, it has lots of room that you can book and sound quality is not bad

Best spot for karaoke. Solid systems, good drinks, and the staff is great.

WARNING AVOID :: Security will harass you even while just using the massage chairs outside. I used to visit this place pretty often. It was always a little rough but to be harassed by the security guard for just using the massage chairs outside was unnecessary. 1) the chairs aren't part of Max karaoke. 2) A kid was just sitting on the arm rest, why the aggression? The guard is likely racist. I won’t be coming to this place again. XLanes on the 3rd floor was more welcoming. They even have nicer karaoke rooms! Les falta ser mas respetosos con los clientes!

Google
Max Karaoke Studio has been my go to karaoke lounge because of their affordable prices and convenience. Parking in LA is always difficult, but if you sing your heart out here, they will validate your ticket for 3 hours! I admit they aren’t the most high end Karaoke lounge out there, and the rooms are very basic. But with prices under $10 a person (tax not included) with no drink minimum, I think it’s a great location for those looking to have a fun night out with a couple, or a lot of friends. They have the regular rooms that are more affordable but also a bit more grungy, with beat up cushions. Or the VIP Rooms, which come with a strobe light and nicer furniture. They don’t have the option to link your phone to the internet and stream YouTube videos, but you can download the healsonic app to connect to their system and get an idea of what songs they have available. You can even set up your playlist ahead of time so that you can get right to singing! Nice to see that they survived the rona!

Yelp
I came here for my bday and reserved a larger room! The staff was very accommodating, though the security guard was a bit much some said (no one in my part drinks but I guess he's just used to a lot of troublemakers). I didn't mind, but a friend didn't like it. Anyway, we sung tons of songs and there's ac and fun lights. The rooms have been renovated so kind of weird (just wooden seats/ no cushion) and a big u shape around a table so a bit awkward to be talking to people, but everyone had a great time and I always appreciate the max staff. Friends bought snacks and drinks from the counter and they charged it all to the room, so end of night we just paid and then friends could pay back. Also love that they validate. Will come again

Yelp
Fun spot for a Karaoke moment. It's good if you just want to sing and don't care much about anything else. Room was a little small for 10 people and the tech left something to be desired but you get what you pay for so it was pretty good for a cheap and cheerful happy hour. It's bring your own food which is fine considering the price point and the beer and soju was good. Service was chill, nice staff no complaints. I wouldn't do a full karaoke event here but I'd go back for a happy hour where you hit up a drive through before hand and down some drinks to some loud karaoke. Not bad at all.

Yelp
What really matters to having a good time is the people you're with. My party and I did have a great time, but there were several things that felt a bit lacking. It is one of the cheaper karaoke places around, though not by much. Do note that this downtown location is not BYOD since they have their own drinks for you to buy. Pros: Despite needing to go through machine prompts to finally talk to a person to make day of reservations, the process was fairly smooth and all my questions were answered. The people working there and officer at the door were all very nice and helpful. Cons: The rooms themselves have a fairly large window where anyone walking by in the hallway could peer in. They require you to download their app to queue up songs and navigate the controls, which while nice and convenient once you have it and get going, cuts into the initial time you could be singing. Some songs were missing some of the lyrics on the screen such as the attached picture. Sound in the rooms were not very sound proof and whenever we weren't singing our hearts out, we could hear the neighbors fairly easily. This is located very close to Skid Row, probably one of the the main reasons they have a guard posted by the door. Highly recommend parking in the garage and then getting it validated. They are very strict about calculating the time. Make sure someone is keeping track if you care about the price!

Yelp
New employee / security have become insufferable. Checking every bag and threatening to charge $20 for a water bottle from outside. We downed it to follow the rules. They also pat down our pockets as if we were going through airport security. Really over the top. Are you looking for weapons or little bags of chips. We had a bag of leftovers from dinner, but didn't eat it knowing the extra charge. And instead ordered two pitchers of beer and soju from the front. When checking out, front desk charged us anyway for outside food. I encouraged them to check the cameras. He pushed back, "I saw you eat it." Realizing it was $1 / person more, it wasn't worth the fight and so I just let it go. Y'all really taking the fun out of karaoke especially at a once beloved location. Rules are rules and we gladly follow them. (Watch the tapes). But the energy was off putting as the staff was waiting to catch us do something to charge us. There was a period where we would go twice a month greeted with kind people who recognized us; filling frequent stamp cards. But with the new staff, it's worth it just to open YouTube at home and use the microphones from Amazon. Read the recent reviews - the new security and the dude with the long hair are going to single-handedly put this place out of business.

Vivian Z.

Yelp
Mediocre at best, maybe the song choices, audio quality and nice folks who work there and convenience for parking etc makes it worth the two stars. But otherwise bare bones in terms of aesthetics, overpriced crappy drinks and snacks for toddlers. The place like I said is not very appealing and decor minimal at best. Bathroom is dingy and the entire place just needs a facelift. If you're looking for good karaoke while in a place that is nice with some thought into decorations and atmosphere, with decent consumable drinks and food, this is not the right place for you. But come here if you're looking for a semi-budget friendly place with some friends just to sing songs and have a casual night out.
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
Chill spot. Plenty of music to choose from- music list could be updated though. You do need to download an app to be able to pick your songs. Place offers limited drinks and snacks. Please note- if you bring YOUR OWN snacks they do charge you $1.00 per person.

Yelp
Love that there is still Max Karaoke in Little Tokyo. Used to also go to the Sawtelle and Torrance locations while they were still around. Really only been here in the daytime for their cheap rates so can't say what it's like at night but even during daytime on weekends there is usually a bunch of folks in the various rooms. The folks at the front desk are usually pretty chill. Most rooms are alright in terms of sound but a lot of times you can hear bleed through from the other rooms when you are between songs. Healsonic rules the day - just pick and bookmark all your songs ahead of time on the app and you don't need to waste time flipping through books (come on, man, it's 2025). You can also do youtube karaoke if the healsonic catalog doesn't have what you want so that's an added plus. Can't speak for the drinks/snacks since I just usually get something non alcoholic to hydrate. Keep up the good work Max - I always have a good time here!

Yelp
Came for happy hour and it was a great deal! The beers were also at a great price. The sound system isn't very good but for the price, it's worth it. They have a lot of song selections and the rooms are very cute. Restroom was also clean.
google avatar

Clara C.

Yelp
This is a good karaoke spot in Little Tokyo - easy parking, BYO food for +$1 charge, and uses Healsonic for easy song choosing! A slight annoyance - the lyric cues did not go with the music. If you don't know the song well, it'll make you feel like you're not singing at the right timing. I wouldn't say their prices are dirt cheap, especially on peak hours like on the weekends. The large room for eight people was $226. Water/soda is $3 per bottle; soju is $14 per bottle. Service charge is 18%. Sales tax is 9.5%. If you park in the structure, you can bring the ticket to the karaoke counter to get it validated. You get three hours for free. The first floor is generally reserved for the market though.

J D.

Yelp
They used to have a branch in West LA Japanese town. Now they are only in downtown Little Tokyo and in Orange county. They have best prices for individuals who learn how to be singers. Some students came with sheet musics. Wish they had more range of jazz songs or classical repertoires. They have musicals as well under Musicals as the artists. Their mic is comfortable, heart shape so it still captures your voice when you move a bit from it. Best in price, however now that they serve beers, they don't allow youngsters to come anymore. Before I saw mom and kids come. They should just check ID when someone order alcohol because restaurants also allow kids to go in.

Yelp
We had a blast at Max Karaoke! From No Doubt to One Piece to Baka Mitai (Yakuza), we had a blast belting out songs and watching the most random background videos - New Orleans, anyone? Service was good too - he let us know when we had five minutes left, and even got us set up with another hour when we asked for it. They don't have a huge selection, but what is here will make you plenty happy.
google avatar

Lan Anh V.

Yelp
This place is a dump. My friends and I booked a room for a bachelorette party. None of the tech was working. They make you download an app on your phone to load music onto the machine, but because the wi-fi was down for the whole place, we wasted the first 30 minutes of our reservation. Another group in a nearby room knocked on our door to ask us if we were having the same issues. They ended up giving us an iPad that barely functioned. Even once the wi-fi was back up, the app was glitchy and took forever to load a song. Whatever program they use is janky. The lyrics are inaccurate and don't sync up to the music. The microphones screeched feedback frequently. They don't let you bring your own bottled water. The bathroom is filthy. There's mold on the wall and a pool of urine that doesn't drain from the urinal. You would think that LA would have better options for karaoke.
google avatar

Taylor C.

Yelp
There was an entire group of about 16 of us. Were called before hand and they told us to come in to make their last hour. We literally all show up and they don't let us in? Wasted Uber money, unprofessional, it's literally two groups of us just standing here confused.. why tell us to come?

Olof G.

Yelp
I've been here at least a few times and unfortunately the newer staff doesn't know the first thing about hospitality or how to treat paying customers. This is one of the cheaper, no frills karaoke spots. They have a limited beer, wine, and soju selection. If you just want to belt out some hits with your friends and keep up with the many rules, nickel and dime upcharges, and attitude, this is your place. I entered with a sore throat, carrying a half-empty bottle of water to keep my voice hydrated. I was told by both the security guard and the front desk that I needed to throw away my bottle of Dasani and buy one of their $3 waters, because, "those are the rules," like I am a child. That was the beginning. I arrived 12 minutes early to get situated and wait for my friends to arrive for an 8:30 reservation. I started the check in process and proceeded to wait 15 minutes to finally buy wine. By the time I gained access to the room, it was 8:37, due to how understaffed and disorganized they are. Less than three hours later, before the end of our reservation, we get a 5 minute warning. I proceeded to argue that we hadn't been granted access until about 20 minutes later than they recorded, and was rudely told they didn't believe me and would check the cameras. I asked for another hour, which I was granted. Just 7 minutes later, midway through one of our songs, the guy with the long hair and glasses walks into our room and proceeds to argue with me, saying he'd checked the cameras and he was right. He spent about 10 minutes causing a scene, killing the vibe, and wasting our time. The situation clearly could have been handled at the end of our extended reservation, but the guy is a putz. At one point, he asked us to leave, simply for disagreeing with him in a calm and collected way. We were able to stay and finish our extra 40 minutes, but the damage was done. Long haired guy doesn't know the first thing about hospitality. He should be making cogs in a sweat shop, not running a karaoke establishment. I will be taking my business elsewhere after being a loyal customer for years.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
They are all private rooms so it's a great spot for anyone who gets a bit of stage fright singing in front of strangers. The rooms are always clean, the staff is friendly, and their equipment is well maintained. Pro-tips: download the Healsonic app before you go. And then, if they don't have the song you want, use the YouTube connectivity through the app to pull it up! You can bring your own snacks and soft drinks. But plan to buy your booze from them - they charge a LOT if you try to sneak booze in now that they have their liquor license. A great place to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions.
google avatar

Kathryn C.

Yelp
I just had my best birthday party ever at Max Karaoke Studio! Even the people who swore they wouldn't sing were on the floor singing and dancing long before the end of our three hours. We had a "large" room, thank goodness. It's not that big, and the tables barely held the food and cake we brought. There were about 15 people in our room at any one time, and that was about as much as it could comfortably handle, since that allowed each person to sit down at the same time or everyone to be on the dance floor. The Max Karaoke staff was very kind and helpful. They got us set up and answered questions quickly. The room was very clean when we arrived. I'd give them a 5, but for what we paid the room was a bit small. Also, not the most attractive. But I'd still be happy to return!!
google avatar

Arely Z.

Yelp
Easy parking, champagne was good, prices are ok (they let you bring in food) and karaoke system was good. Only docked a star because there were NO Spanish songs- nothing! So that was a bummer!
google avatar

Jimmy R.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the last decade or so and probably won't again due to the new staff. Security guard and front desk staff were unnecessarily rude and was adamant of charging $20 for anything that you bring in, including a bottle of water. Also accused us of eating food when we didn't, and charged us $9. It became a hostile environment when it shouldn't, and I'll be filing a consumer complaint.
google avatar

Lemon Boy Z.

Yelp
Great sound system - the JoySound system at Max also has YouTube streaming so I highly recommend leaving a playlist of your go-to instrumental tracks that aren't on the catalog!
google avatar

Johnny J.

Yelp
A very fun time once you get used to using the app to pick songs (not hard at all). And while the rental price is maybe a bit be on the high side, it's at least balanced by super affordable alcohol. The folks who work here are welcoming and chill, and treated our group well. So, it's definitely a good place for a not-too-big birthday party or other celebration (even if it being upstairs in a small mall is a little odd. Or charming? Let's go with charming.)

Spencer D.

Yelp
I thought I understood charging for bringing in outside food to a location but charging $20 so I can bring in my tea is just not cool. They do have some drinks for purchase inside and I guess food is ok to bring in which is funny but cool. Idk, mixed bag ‍

Silvia P.

Yelp
I unfortunately didn't have the time to take a picture of this place. However I really like this place and would visit again. Yesterday was my birthday and I booked a room for me and my friends for the maximum hours (5) and it was super fun. For context, The room rate isn't bad before 7pm. It does go up after 7pm but that's because more guests arrive and want to sing. And it's pretty reasonable priced for what they offer!! Overall great recommendation!!
google avatar

Lina V.

Yelp
I have been here twice with friends and the price is very affordable, especially during happy hour. We were all satisfied with our experiences and the selections of songs that they have (super fun, but which karaoke isn't?). I would only like to say that I docked one star because some of the song lyrics on screen weren't in sync with the actual song. Service is what it is, you check in and you pay when you leave. Bathroom was decently clean.
google avatar

Joy P.

Yelp
We pre-booked a party room for about 13 people and truly enjoyed ourselves. The staff are wonderful - super nice, helpful, organized, and accommodating. The room was fantastic - clean, well kept, easy to use equipment and everything worked perfectly. I chose this place because we could bring in food for a small charge, which was a game changer. There's validated parking and the entrance to the mall is super convenient to Max. I recommend placing a reservation as they get booked up. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Lizzy S.

Yelp
Well I went there on Saturday night made a reservation ahead of time because I was going to have a party of 20-25 people. The place is nice and the room that I got was pretty big. Great music selection from English oldies and newbies to Spanish music. We all had so much fun. Got the room right on time as I was told. Some of the down parts is the fact that they don't provide ice or cups (so bring ur own because they charge $1 for 5 foam cups) and the AC really doesn't cool down the whole room, but that didn't ruin the night at all. Another downer also was the fact that the VIP rooms were the only room with disco-tech lights bummer :/ but u can deem the lights on the regular rooms so it was still fun. It is $1 per person (one time charge)for bringing food and drinks (BYOB).They do get very busy through the night so I recommend to reserve a room. FYI if you reserve a large room u must have a minimum of 15 ppl and hope they stay the whole hours you reserve it for because even if you have 10 people towards the end they still charge you as 15 people are there ( $90/hr/person). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The person that was on the front desk was nice and not rude at all. I like the fact that they do tell you when you have 5 mins left until is time to end it. They do keep one credit card and ID card with them until is time to leave. They do inform you that you need to let them know if people from you party are leaving so the cost can be reduced. They do validate your parking so bring it with you and plus the guy at the gate leaves at 3 a.m. so FREE PARKING ... this is a great place to be with friends and have a fun time. Have the time of you life if you haven't gone there you should definitely go you won't regret it.
google avatar

Kaitlyn L.

Yelp
This was such a cool karaoke place to go with friends or family! You have to connect to their wifi and app in order to work the karaoke. They only have drinks and chips there so it can be a fun night out with friends and grab some soju! It is a 21+ location only. There was only one person working on a Friday night and not busy at all. You can't bring in outside food or they will charge you. It is $7 per person before 7 PM but $28 per person after 7 PM. Come sing your heart out with your friends because the app has a ton of old and new song selections!

Christian S.

Yelp
Worst spot ever don't recommend to Anyone If u could give negative stars I would give negative 1000' Service horrible they tried charging me more for rooms for large party when smaller rooms were available Charged me Extra for so Many unnecessary things without telling me Horrible waste of my time that I could never get back Just check the other reviews on it and you'll know
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
This was a very fun place! We came on a holiday and parked at the structure next to the strip mall that housed this lively gem. Food and drinks are allowed, so we were able to purchase a couple drinks at a nearby market; however, there is a limit to the alcohol percentage you can bring in so double check that before making any purchases. The app they use is a common one for karaoke joints so that was fairly simple to use. Also, the songbook had a vast selection. We were having so much fun that we ended up extending our stay and it was all worth it. Another plus was that there was parking validation as well!
google avatar

Shirley Wing L.

Yelp
Location is in a plaza and has a parking garage that has validation, just remember to ask at the karaoke desk before you leave.. value is definitely there. My friend and I called in and was able to get in right away. Even though we had a small room it was super spacious. Song selection was pretty decent, wish you could enable background vocals but can't expect much esp when you're only paying a little during Happy hour. It's pretty nice. I don't think the rooms are soundproof lol so be prepared to hear your neighbors.
google avatar

Mai V.

Yelp
Max Karaoke Studio is located on the top floor in a strip mall. There's lots of street parking around as well as paid parking lots. Went here with a big group for a birthday celebration. It's a pretty bare bones place and the management is pretty low-key. The room we rented out had a technical malfunction so they were very accommodating and upgraded us to their large party room, and we made full use of it! You're allowed to bring outside food and drinks. They also sell a few party snacks and drinks at the front desk, so we bought a couple bags of chips to stay energized in between the power ballads, soulful songs, and pop hits. Had an awesome time with friends singing and dancing.
google avatar

Natasha Y.

Yelp
I've been coming here for about 10 years now and every time it gets a little worse but this is truly the last time I will go. First of all they say bring your own drinks and food BUT they tried to charge me 20$ each SODA i brang (no alcohol) total was 80$ for 4 sodas. Needless to say I had to abandon my drinks. The rooms sound system is HORRIBLE there is a loud high frequency sound that plays when a song isnt on which will drive you insane! When the music is playing the mics feedback, Sound system goes in and out and is so bad it makes the whole experience terrible (especially because we already sing like crap) They make you download an questionable app that's poorly designed and connect to a unsecured WIFI network to use. All in all I've made some great memories here in the past but due to the poor quality of... everything I'll have to find a new home
google avatar

Chio M.

Yelp
Nice placed had fun. The service is good. The only 2 things I didn't like is the they did not have food/snacks so you have to bring your own, if you want any and the play list are about outdated.

Ana Q.

Yelp
Went here for a family cousins day and it was so much fun! Party of 10 and room was perfect size. Receptionist was really cool dude, super accommodating and brought our pitchers to the room, super helpful! They offer snacks and adding a dollar per person on the tab wasn't so bad. Definitely would go again!

Jessica C.

Yelp
I came here a few years ago with friends and had a good time. So when my family wanted to do karaoke I immediately suggested this place. We made a reservation & as soon as we get there the security guard starts saying they charge $20 per drink we take in. And when you think a case of beer he said 20 per beer bottle. A joke. (Mind you we asked on the phone and were not told about this "rule"). They are better off not allowing drinks. That security should be fired. He's turning away all business, a complete scammer just to pocket money on the side. Beware. Complete waste of time to reserve and be hit with "fees". When I came, that security wasn't here and it went more than fine. Seeing as most bad reviews are about him, I hope the owner sees this for his/her own sake.

Yelp
Max Karaoke Studio has been my go to karaoke lounge because of their affordable prices and convenience. Parking in LA is always difficult, but if you sing your heart out here, they will validate your ticket for 3 hours! I admit they aren't the most high end Karaoke lounge out there, and the rooms are very basic. But with prices under $10 a person (tax not included) with no drink minimum, I think it's a great location for those looking to have a fun night out with a couple, or a lot of friends. They have the regular rooms that are more affordable but also a bit more grungy, with beat up cushions. Or the VIP Rooms, which come with a strobe light and nicer furniture. They don't have the option to link your phone to the internet and stream YouTube videos, but you can download the healsonic app to connect to their system and get an idea of what songs they have available. You can even set up your playlist ahead of time so that you can get right to singing! Nice to see that they survived the rona!

Yelp
Honestly one of the worst customer experience I have ever had. From security to the workers. The place and experience are amazing though but the people there are so rude, demanding, snotty and have no sense of how to talk to people.

Yelp
PLEASE DONT GO HERE They genuinely overcharged me. I looked at their price list and calculated what our actual fee should have been, when I brought this up the manager they argued against it without providing any evidence and overcharged by 300 DOLLARS. Absolutely not worth it. Place was dirty and grimy and underwhelming, and definitely not worth over paying.

Yelp
I only gave it 4 stars because it's not your traditional "bar karaoke" where you stand up in front of everyone. If you are shy, this is a great place! The song selection was great and I had a wonderful time! I would definitely go back! Parking isn't great but you can find a spot.

Yelp
This is a good place to go if you're on a karaoke budget but otherwise I'd recommend literally anywhere else lol. Positives: they allow outside food in, cost effective for a large group, & easy to reserve rooms. Negatives: there is a VERY aggressive security guard who harassed you if you're just existing in the space outside the studio, 21+ only if you forgot your ID forget it you aren't getting in there, & rooms are outdated and it shows. Front desk staff is uninterested in their jobs but i can't blame them at least they're nice.

Yelp
My best friend and I used to frequent this place for happy hour daily. Love their song selections and especially loved the opportunity to select any song on Youtube. Happy hour prices were great! Beto and the rest of the staff were super cool, awesome, very accommodating, and professional. Josh, the security guy, was also super awesome! Really miss going to this place mainly for the staff.

Yelp
This place is so shitty now. The security guard harassed me and kept accusing me of being under 21 when I'm almost 30 and wouldn't let me bring my water in and made me dump it in the trash can. This place is also very disgusting- every room has sticky seats and the hallways and bathroom smell like urine. This place WAS tolerable when it was a BYOB model where you could just rent the room for cheap and bring your own stuff. It was the only thing that made it worth going. Now since they have a keg and serve beer.... they don't let anyone under 21 go in and they also do not let you in at all if you have your own drink. If that's the case- then go to any other karaoke place that has better rooms and no urine smells.

Yelp
The workers never seem too welcoming, just here to run their business. Still, karaoke doesn't involve the workers too much so you're free to have a fun time. This place uses the healsonic app which makes queuing songs easy for the whole group. Their selection seems pretty basic but it can be a little hard to find a vibe if you don't know what you wanna sing. The place isn't bougie but it's clean and well kept and everything's dark so you don't see it anyways. They have a stamp card system and the price is cheaper Mon-Thurs, based on how many people you have.

Yelp
I love this place!!! After drinking and partying in LA it's a fun spot to end the night with friends. Definitely make a reservation in advance but try your luck at the end of the night. We came around 10 or 11p and begged to karaoke. The manager was nice enough to give us a 30 minute block of time and it was SO WORTH IT!

Yelp
WARNING AVOID :: Security will harrass you even while just using the massage chairs outside I used to visit this place pretty often. It was always a little rough but to be harassed by the security guard for just using the massage chairs outside was unnecessary . 1) the chairs aren't part of Max karaoke. 2) A kid was just sitting on the arm rest, why the aggression? The guard is likely racist. I don't think I'll ever be coming to this place again. XLanes on the 3rd floor was more welcoming. Les falta ser mas respetosos con los clientes!

Yelp
What's up with the guy in the front in the long hair. He called security while we were waiting for the restroom.

Yelp
The rules for the place have changed as of January. Their websites haven't been updated to reflect this. They are 21+ only. After having booked an appointment I was faced with this information at the door, ruining an evening and being forced to pay an absurd amount at the nearby parking garage. The workers don't seemed to be informed on this change as I had called in and they told me that anyone can enter and that the karaoke was for all ages.

Yelp
I was leaving XLanes when the security from this establishment rushed my sisters bf, threatening to pepper spray him. He was tying my sisters shoe?! Our group still doesn't understand what the perceived problem was. I went back and asked for his name and company but he threatened to pepper spray me too. I thought he worked for the mall but was informed by mall security that he works for this establishment directly. We called Max Karaoke and now they're denying he works for them. BS. Please hire adequate mentally stable staff. The security himself said nothing will happen to him because he's been working for them since 2009.

Yelp
I don't karaoke much but when I do i go to Max's. They have a huge song selection and the best part is that they have happy hour. Their happy hour is $6 per hour per person which is super cheap. Also if you decide to bring in food like I do then you have to pay $1 more which isn't bad. The guy is super friendly and helpful. You're able to make reservations through the phone. They provide validation for 3 hours for free.
