Seattle Restaurants With the Best Views | Eater Seattle

"Maximilien has long been a reliable spot for downtown French dining, and a go-to for date night. This restaurant impresses with a menu of satisfying entrees, such as Hudson Valley duck leg confit and steak frites, best enjoyed on a sweet Pike Place Market patio with views of Elliott Bay. In the rainy months, enjoy the same outdoor views in a cozy, covered dome via Maximillen’s Le Igloo experience." - Meg van Huygen

Seattle’s Best Rooftops for Spring and Summer Dining | Eater Seattle

"Come for the French fare, and stay to enjoy spectacular views at Maximilien’s rooftop seating area. Enjoy attentive service, escargot, seafood platters, steak frites, and other specialties. During winter months, Maximilien brings out its Le Igloo experience — clear, dome-shaped pods that shelter small parties on the rooftop. It looks pretty weird to be honest, but it’s a smart idea." - Brianna Gunter

This is definitely the "must-visit" if you're in the area and looking for a great place to eat. (We've tried other spots nearby that were disappointing.) The service was excellent, the drinks were spot on, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. My husband even said it was one of the best foie gras dishes he’s ever had at a restaurant – and that’s really saying something!

We arrived a little after six on a Monday evening without a reservation. We were able to be promptly seated at an outdoor table with a beautiful view. We were a party of four. We had some French martinis that were delicious! We ordered some bread for the table with butter, which did not disappoint. My husband and I split the scallops and a salad and had plenty to eat. Fantastic views! Very enjoyable.

June 2025 update Arrived at 12noon well before our 145pm reservation on a Saturday in June but we were greeted at the front desk and promptly seated at a table next to the windows with a great view of the waterfront. Service was very friendly and good. Salade Verte au Roquefort was fresh and tasty. Moules Mariniere were served hot and were tasty. French fries were quite disappointing as they were not served hot and were limp and not crispy. Pan-seared Alaskan Halibut was served hot in a beurre blanc sauce with potatoes and mushrooms and was quite tasty and delicious. French baguette was good but unfortunately unsalted butter was not offered. Overall, with the exception of the limp french fries, we were quite satisfied with our lunch at Maximilien but be prepared because it is quite pricey. Previous review: Arrived on time for our 1130am reservation on the last Saturday in June. Once doors opened at 11:30am, we were greeted at the front desk and promptly seated at a table next to the windows with a great view of the waterfront. Service was very good, delivered by an experienced server from Paris. Seared foie gras frais was served hot and was tasty. The escargot in butter sauce were quite tasty without too much garlic. Halibut a la Francaise was also tender and quite delicious. Also ordered the Confit de Canard which was well cooked and tasty. French baguette was good but unfortunately unsalted butter was not offered. For desert, really enjoyed the basque style burnt-cheesecake. Overall, we were quite satisfied with our lunch at Maximillien but be prepared because it is quite pricey.

I recently had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday at Maximilien and it was a wonderful experience. With reservations on a Monday evening it ensured we were promptly seated by the window, offering stunning views of the sound. The ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a celebration. We started with cocktails that were expertly crafted, setting the stage for what turned out to be an exceptional dining experience our favorites were the Spritz and the Mule. The lamb and ahi tuna dishes were absolute standouts, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Need to call out the butter that was served with the bread it was a 10/10. To make the celebration special a surprise profiterole arrived at our table, a delightful surprise that we couldn't resist ordering more of. Parking was easy as it was a week night and the market had closed. We felt fortunate to have chosen a weekday evening for our visit, avoiding the usual crowds and making our experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving exceptional cuisine, I would highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

Decided to give this place a try while on vacation! First impression was lovely, was greeted warmly and the host was able to accommodate us even though we arrived 20 minutes prior to our reservation. A ton of people were out on the patio but we chose to be seated inside and it was like we had our own private space! Very lovely view of the bay. Our server was super sweet too with each interaction. The baguette was nice and fresh, and I wish I could buy the sea salt butter they had by the pound! For my main course I ordered King Salmon and in all honesty I was a bit disappointed as it was pretty dry. The potato’s and veg that were served with it however was really flavorful though especially with the sauce that was plated with it. Dessert was also ok, but aside from the pretty plating it wasn’t anything to write home about really. I’d be interested in coming again, but would definitely need to order something different I feel.

We had such a lovely time, like stepping in to another world! When we arrived for our 4:30 dinner reservation we had the place mostly to ourselves, which was perfect because my elderly mother is hard of hearing, and we could enjoy each other’s company and the beautiful atmosphere and view. I was embarrassed when our waiter welcomed me in French, and I gave the wrong response, but he kept a straight face and carried on as though it was perfect. He gave us excellent service, and although I had a little trouble understanding his French accent, even that added to the feeling that we had been transported to France. The food was wonderful, and the whole experience was really more than a meal, it was like a mini holiday.

Google
DISTURBING to see that your restaurant has added another tax onto customers bill. I always pay 20-25% tip, but you are forcing me to pay 15% tip. SERVICE CHARGE is the tip expected by the SERVERS, for their service. The restaurant already makes money off of some food but mostly alcohol sales. Squeezing more money from customers is rude and a disservice to your employees. 🤬🤬🤬 ****UPDATE: I wrote this review after I left the restaurant and within minutes, the French owner/manager/host CALLED ME ON THE PHONE to berate me and he charged me a cancellation fee of $105 and told me "never return, or I will call the police to arrest you for trespassing"....!! UNREAL! I have reviewed tons of reviews here, many wonderful reviews but a ton of negative reviews about the 5% "tax" that is kept by the restaurant and not given to the servers. This guy/restaurant seems to enjoy making extra money by charging cancellation fees in addition to the 5% charge!!

We wanted to try something new. They have outside seating and we were able to enjoy the cool air off the water. My wife and I both had a salad. I had the soup of the day which was chowder and she had french fries. Everything was phenomenal. The only thing that I would change was that the salad had thick blue cheese crumbles, which was a little too much. We also had to ask for another side of dressing. But nothing that would not make us go there again. I highly recommend. The server was phenomenal as well.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night to celebrate my father's birthday. For appetizers, we got the escargot (not pictured) and fresh baguette for the leftover pools of butter, and also the perfectly seared foie gras with apricot-pear chutney. I wish both dishes had some more tartness to balance out the richer components (butter and foie gras, respectively), but I overall found myself expecting more complexity in the flavors throughout the meal so perhaps thats typical for the cuisine. For mains, we got the steak and Alaskan halibut entrees and the seafood platter to share. The fresh oysters were the absolute star of the evening. They brought out a sort of profiterole-looking birthday dessert as well. Service was attentive, but the waiter spoke a bit quickly for my parents, for whom English is a second language, and wasn't too proactive about clarifying. The atmosphere feels classy but not too out of reach, as there were diners wearing pretty casual clothing. Overall, would recommend for straightforward, reliable French fare, nothing particularly mind blowing.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The best mussels I've ever had. Fantastic halibut- sauce and vegetables were so perfect.

Yelp
Absolutely lovely restaurant. Small and charming with unique French decor. The service was excellent. The food of course was impeccable. We had the soup of the day- the seafood chowder - and it was delicious, warm and flavorful and full of big chunks of seafood. I had the duck, and loved the crispy garlic mashed potatoes. It was like eating little fried pieces of garlic. The desserts I loved the profiteroles and the crème brûlée, i was less thrilled about the burnt cheesecake. But I haven't had it before so maybe that's how it supposed to taste. Panoramic view and we enjoyed the sunset on a lovely evening. We left the restaurant and came running back to use the restroom, and the waiter was gracious enough to let us back in after closing. We would absolutely come back here again.

Yelp
Great date night spot with a view. Perfect time to come is sunset. Perfect view. Amazing service. So attentive and welcome. Good was great too. The main are amazing

Yelp
We had a dinner for 5 in one of the igloos to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was a great experience. It was definitely a splurge so keep that in mind, but the service was excellent, food was good, and the igloo was really cozy in the rain and nice to have privacy. Get the french onion soup!! I would recommend for a special occasion, the inside of the restaurant looked nice as well.

Yelp
I've wanted to come here for the last 5 years or so. It was always busy and booked. For once it was not, so we were able to get reservations for 7pm on a Friday. Glad I finally got this place out of my system BUT it was not all that. Basic food for a higher price because of the view. View was nice for a Seattle Summer night. BuT eat at the Pink door instead, food is better, view is comparable and you won't walk away thinking "well that was high priced basic food. Ya know the kind where I paid $5 for a baby diet coke :(" Nice enough service

H A.

Yelp
The food was incredible, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely. We were lucky enough to get a view of the water from the second floor, and the staff was warm and welcoming. We celebrated New Year's Eve here with the Rouge menu through Resy--absolutely amazing! It's not inexpensive, but every dollar was worth it. While it might not become a regular spot for me, I'll definitely return for special occasions.

Yelp
Came for a date with my husband and enjoyed a cozy rainy night in an intimate setting. We had a wonderful time! Location: We made reservations for a Sunday night at 6pm online. Located in Pike Place we were seated indoors upstairs side by side where we had a nice view of the ferris wheel at night. Service: We had a very kind gentleman who provided excellent service and was so friendly. Food: - French onion soup - very delicious and great portions. My husband and I shared everything - fois gras - this was our favorite item of the night! So good! - half baguette with butter - very tasty bread - pork tomahawk - we ordered this because it seemed to be highly recommended. It was tasty but overhyped... we've had better at other restaurants. We felt it lacked some elevated flavor but it was nicely cooked and juicy. Potatoes and veggies were a nice addition. - filet mignon steak with blue cheese- the steak was also perfectly cooked. Very tasty and really enjoyed the salad - the fries were ok. - creme brulee - standard dessert but nicely done. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here!

Yelp
A magical night. Was a special birthday dinner, and the Maximilien team took account of that with one of the best tables in house, with full view of the Puget Sound and The Seattle Great Wheel. The experience was that of being teleported to Paris for the moment, from it's romantic setting, evening lighting, the properly set dinner tables, down to the French accents of the service staff. We each had the Champagne Flight, followed by Les Huitres Fraiche (Fresh Oysters) along with Escargots à la Bourguignonne. The main courses was a seared 16oz Cote de Porc Tomahawk Chop, the other a Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail special. That fine meal in the most charming environment will be prompting us to watch Disney's Ratatouille again as soon as we return home!

Yelp
Beautiful view of the water and lots of seating for this French restaurant in pike place! I gave them a 4 stars since the food was pricey for what it is. Escargot could have been more flavourful, but these ones were quite oily and earthy. The duck confit was cooked nicely and charcuterie was also decent. Service was not the fastest so definitely come here to enjoy the views.

Yelp
My man surprised me with online reservations for my birthday dinner! When arriving we were greeted by the host, then told to wait a moment while they check our reservation and table. While waiting we did notice a young man who was a busser that seemed to be having a bad day and did not hide it..The host came back and grabbed the menus and quickly showed us to our table. Amazing view of the water, ferries, boats, Seattle wheel, and sunset! Our server was an extremely professional kind woman who had amazing service and communication! She was very respectful and great at her job! We chose to both enjoy the Seattle restaurant week menu and chose the onion soup for starter and did choose the option with red wine. Food was delicious. The lamb in the entree was perfect. We also did have the oysters but forgot to photograph lol! So yummy they were devoured quickly! We brought our leftovers home and enjoyed the entree the next morning just as much as that night. Would recommend for a special occasion. After we left we walked downstairs to take photos at the nearby famous Seattle gum wall. Enjoyed the food very much and our overall experience!! Thank you Maximilien for the birthday dessert and card :)

Yelp
Spectacular view, especially at sunset. Appetizers with masterfully made cocktails. Attentive, professional server.

Yelp
I love, love, love the space. So well designed and lovely. This afternoon graced a friend's 80th bday in a corner window table on the main floor. I miss the Happy Hour on the deck. Please bring it back? One star off for a rather pricey lunch menu. If it were a bit more reasonable I'd come here more regularly, not just for special occasions.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
A small restaurant hidden in Pike Place. The best French cuisine I've had. Definitely the best French onion soup I've ever had. Try to come in time to enjoy the sunset too. I don't think the duck needed that much lentils but it was still delicious. Cream puffs were amazing and filet was a little bigger than expected which was nice. Also that liver was the best I've had too

Yelp
BE CAREFUL OF WILD TIPPING!!!! CUSTOM TIPS NOT ALLOWED! Dined in at Maximilien the subtotal was 769.37, already including the 5% surcharge. When paying for the final bill, our server Christian said we had to pay for at least 18% tips on top of the surcharge to cover the wage of the bartenders, other workers, etc. He said custom tips were not allowed since paying less than 18% meant he would have to pay out of pocket. Ended up tipping $100+. Food was good tho.

Joshua D.

Yelp
The food is always amazing here. The entire restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Unfortunately service is hit or miss. And this time was a big miss. It started with our server Michael R. being dismissive and inattentive on a day where 9 of the 20 tables on the patio are empty and sharing the 9 tables with 2 other servers. The reason for the review however is the croissants. Firstly they are fantastic. You get 3 for $17, of course we ordered 2! Sadly they only had 5 available but offered a discount. We agreed and loved the croissants! However we only got a $1 discount on our order. Broken down it should've been a little more than $5. It felt not like an insult than a generosity for the inconvenience.

Yelp
Loved the out of the way location hidden within the depths of Pike's Pkace along Alaskan Way. It's a French eatery and bar and a welcome respite from the busy busy crowded Pike's Place. The menu looks great. Nit cheap but worth it. I had some oysters on the half shell and a local brew. Beautiful views. And the bartender Joe...he's the man !
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to connect with my husband over escargot, foi gras, and a French 75. We will be coming back
google avatar

Erin J.

Yelp
My husband and I made a reservation here to enjoy a nice dinner before taking the monorail to Climate Pledge arena for a Saturday concert. We were sat promptly, right along the windows, and the timing of our dinner was perfect for the evening. The service was great, not overbearing but attentive. We ordered onion soup, oysters on the half shell, duck confit, flat iron steak and frites, and the basque cheese cake. We also started with a couple of cocktails before moving onto wine. Everything was great!
google avatar

Concetta C.

Yelp
This restaurant has a magical view! Very old and quaint building. The good and services is top shelf! Side note: Not a great place to bring someone with ADA requirements. Bathroom in the restaurant, but upstairs.

Deborah E.

Yelp
Exquisite food and drinks! Excellent service also! We had drinks before dinner in the bar with our favorite bartender, Spencer. Try the Jungle Cat! We enjoyed escargot and some sourdough bread before going into the dining room for dinner. I ordered the sea scallops and my husband ordered the grilled halibut. The scallops melted in my mouth and the halibut was excellent also! For dessert we had the profiteroles; omg! It was one of the best desserts we've ever had! Thank you Thierry for the wonderful service! We also enjoyed a bottle of Pouilly-Fuisse! What a wonderful dinner and experience!

Yelp
Date night @maximilienrestaurant in Seattle with Duck confit, oysters, escargots and some wine to end our night off. Great place if you want a more upscale date night with your loved one, or any occasion really. You have the option of choosing whether you'd like to sit outdoors (for the view) or indoors (to be cozy). I would highly recommend outdoor seating as you fed an amazing view of the the great wheel! The service was there-- not great, not horrible--but I wasn't quite sure whether it was genuine or not. They were definitely trained on how to properly treat their customers, but to me, it felt a bit forced. It's an old school establishment tucked away in Pike Place and can easily be overlooked if you didn't know about it beforehand. The outside does look a little sketch, but as soon as you walk in, it gives you a completely different vibe. The duck confit was a little on the saltier side, but all the appetizers were delectable. The oysters were fresh and juicy. Overall, had a lovely time at the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
The scallops were perfect. Halibut sauce was so flavorful. Escargot, loved that it was already taken out of the shell. Bread, on point

Yelp
Went for dinner on a Monday night and it was lovely!! I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, it has lots of seating and a beautiful patio. We sat inside by the window and it was a gorgeous view. Their pork was so flavorful and delicious. My partner loved his duck confit. Service was great as well, we would happily come back!!
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
delicious, good service, buried in Pike Place Market came here to celebrate a birthday! The escargot was solid 4/5 stars but drenched in an extreme amount of butter (very little garlic flavor) The pork was decent, solid, if a little dry the scallops were good, solid as well, but not a super unique flavor overall, loved the view, but not positive I'd return when I'm back in Seattle
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
I came here around 5PM after checking out some museums to hang out on the patio area and got the St. Germain Spritz and the Belgium Frites. The waitstaff were very friendly! The place was very confusing to find but it was near the Tea house/fish market at the Pike Place Market! The prices seemed a little high but the location was nice and breezy on a warm sunny Seattle Day. They had plenty of umbrellas up to his you from the shade
google avatar

Yelp
I lived 8 years in the XIIIth in Paris and when I miss "Brasserie food" this is my spot. A real French cook, owner and basics. The splendid and romantic panoramic view paired with the red lighting watching the harbor gets in the way of the food. This place is where locals propose and cruise takers relax. Personally I find the simplicity refreshing. The great French wine is $55/bottle even in the Bordeaux. If you are French - come here. If you are not, leave the wine to me.

Yelp
I know I'm a Francophile, but there comes a point that it just becomes excessive. My best friend had the idea of us having linner (that's lunch and dinner all rolled up into one) at Maxmilien. He's been before and adores the place. Me? Been there once and uncertain if I would return. Bluntly speaking, I wasn't left impressed. Here's the why. Yes, the ambiance is to die for, especially if you sit in their top floor like we did. We managed to see the water, the pier, and all the loveliness of Seattle. The restaurant, too, is ample and spacious. It kind of felt like being in a fancy cruise ship, similar to old school Titanic. Our waitress was friendly and full of recommendations. We never wanted for anything. The service was fantastic. The food? Eh, this is where I have my complaints. We started off with some wine. No issues there. Bread followed, as well as our entrees. Bread was warm and fluffy. Butter was imported from France. The entrees themselves, the beef Bourguignon he ordered and my own mussels with fries, looked superb. Cannot comment on the beef Bourguignon as I didn't try it, but the mussels were unlike anything I've ever seen before. Bluntly speaking, the mussels were larger than average. You'd think this would please me, but I feel that while they tasted fine, they weren't the type I'd devour easily. The fries, too, were overdone. At least they were seasoned well. Overall, my impression was just that it was okay. If anything, I may be rating higher than need be, considering later that evening I didn't feel well at all. Maybe a case of bad mussels? Really have no idea.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! The food was delicious and the affordable the views were beautiful and the server was one of the nicest I've experienced in Seattle. We ordered tons of food the pork chop was amazing and the potatoes and massive brussel sprouts were the perfect accompaniment. The steak was cook medium rare as we asked and the frites were crispy. I loved the bread and butter since their butter is from France it's soo good. We also ordered the mussels and there was so many in there I was fairly surprised! This place was 10/10 and I would definitely come again!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place. It's in a corner and you see the signs from outside in the front. French restaurant, small dining area on the 1st floor. The food was amazing. Loved what I got!

Yelp
My recent visit to Maximilien, a French restaurant with a breathtaking view of the bay, was a truly memorable experience. The restaurant is located in the depths of Seattle's Pike Market Place, and the ambiance was cozy and inviting. The food was exceptional, starting with the Salade Verte - a fresh and vibrant green salad with a perfectly balanced vinaigrette. The Tarte Flambee was a highlight of the meal, with a crispy thin crust and a delicious combination of bacon, onions, and crème fraîche. The Belgian Fries were cooked to perfection and served with a tangy aioli dipping sauce. The French Onion Soup was a comforting and delicious dish, with a rich and flavorful broth, tender caramelized onions, and perfectly melted gruyere cheese on top. It was the perfect dish to warm us up on a chilly day. The real star of the meal, however, was the view. Maximilien's location offers a breathtaking view of the bay, and it was an incredible backdrop for our brunch. We felt like we were dining in the heart of Paris, with the added bonus of a stunning view. Overall, our experience at Maximilien was exceptional. The food was delicious, the ambiance was cozy, and the view was simply breathtaking. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Seattle.

Yelp
I was nervous because of the lower star rating they have... I should have paid closer attention to the reviews. First, the food was fantastic- I gave an additional star for that. Pork chops, escargot, French onion soup and a rabbit special. But the service? Awful. Slow. Uncommunicative. Attitude. The server was in the middle of training someone (I think?) that was never addressed (it should be). Maybe she was training her replacement? That would be satisfactory - the trainee had a much better demeanor. Apart from the negative facial expressions, lack of communication i.e. disappearing while our food wait times ticked longer and longer - never asking how the food was - never offering to box the food - never checking in while we were being blasted by sunlight as the clock ticked longer and the afternoon sun shifted. - their tip was adjusted to a more than fair amount to account for the lacking service quality. Still never asked if we needed a box. I had to walk to them and ask. Then it was brushed off and insisted that they box it for me. I did not trust her to handle my food behind closed doors. And then to top it off, I specifically asked the trainee? to bring me a box because I did not want them to do it for me. That should be respected. I was respectful with how I asked. The actual server came over and grabbed the plates, asked which needed a box. Only mine. She grabbed my plate and balanced the BOTTOM of my friends plate on my FOOD while she positioned the plates "properly" - it was still not proper and was offensive. I left without my food. Coming from a food service background in fine dining this is unacceptable. Every guest should be treated the same as the next, so on and so forth. I could add more but the plate balancing and touching my food with the plate bottom was my final straw Gorgeous view though and pork chop was fantastic, even with what little I ate! Would be nice to have for later :)

Yelp
I took a high school friend from England here. Now,I would have preferred one of the best salmon sandwiches ever at https://www.pikeplacemarket.org/vendor/market-grill/.nbut she wanted a view and wine. So Maximilien was our choice. First, entering the restaurant the service was welcoming and happy to see us. I believe the owner waited on us. A old time rustic feel to this restaurant, transforms you from Seattle to Paris in just a few steps. My friend is delighted by the views and atmosphere right away. So we overspend for lunch. We order a wonderful French wine that my tipsy brain cannot remember the name of. But it was recommended by the waiter and was great. French onion soup with bread as an appetizer. Rally nice onion flavor, with creamy cheese. Lovely escargots next. We both had the salmon savage king. This as wonderful and cooked just right. The service, views and food were outstanding. Did I pay dearly for this experience? Yes. But to wow a special person, Maximilien was a great choice.

Yelp
Last night we had an exquisite dinner here. The view of the setting sun sky added to the magic. The service was impeccable. I had the monk fish special and my niece the filet mignon. Both amazing.

Yelp
I will start by saying this restaurant is difficult to find as Google Maps and Maps and businesses on Western Ave were not helpful. Luckily my husband went up the stairs into Pike Place Market and was guided by at least 3 people. BTW it is in Pike Place Market. If lost use the pig at the entrance and look for their neon sign. We had a birthday dinner for my daughter at this restaurant as her choice. The food was nicely prepared included French onion soup, tomato soup, filet of beef, rack of lamb and scallops. The waiter was attentive. It was very busy on an early Sunday evening and was quite noisy. We were a table of 6 and it was difficult to hear each other in conversation. One pet peeve is that sodas were expensive and did not include refills. The first glass was small and filled with ice not leaving much room for the soda purchased. Great view over building on Western ave.

Jen B.

Yelp
Food and service was atrocious. It's very much a tourist trap. Supposedly owned by a French man but it is a sad excuse for a brassarie

Roslyn C.

Yelp
Not worth the price! No flexibility on any substitutions such as vegetables (even though they are on the menu). Also there is a mandatory gratuity as a service fee then i was expected to add a 20 percent tip on top! Would not go back!

Yelp
Appetizers: 5/5 Entrees: 3/5 Dessert: 4/5 Very nice place near Pike. The ambiance is calm and fitting with red fluorescent. Views are nice overviewing the pier. The appetizers were great! Our group got the duck and halibut, it was a little on the dry side and we had to get a different cocktail (hurricane was 3/5). The potatoes were kinda on the hard side. Nonetheless, it's a nice spot with friends, family, or date.

Yelp
Super hidden gem! This place is hard to find but once you find it you won't be disappointed. The pork chop is amazing and service is amazing too. I will be back to try more food :)

Yelp
I have been raving about Maximilien since my visit for lunch! I would like to share the details on the food first: For my party of three, we ordered: Les moules mariniere (steamed mussels in butter, wine, shallots and herbs), cote de porc (seared pork tomahawk), the steak frites, Alaska halibut, and a cheese soufflé to share. The steamed mussels ($23) were absolutely delicious! They are served in a pot with a lid flipped over to dispose of the shells in after you're done. The wine, butter, shallots, and herbs unified very well that my cousin was practically drinking it like soup at the end. The mussels were plumped and NOT over cooked. I ordered the Alaskan halibut ($36) that was accompanied with purple cauliflower, baby carrots, asparagus, and a port wine cream sauce. The sear and seasoning on the fish was to perfection. The veggies were not over done, and the sauce was second in fame aside from the halibut. Each bite was enticing until the end. My cousin had the pork tomahawk ($34). His pork was thick, flavorful, and was juicy, NOT dry. The Brussel sprouts were large and tender with many flavors from the demi-glace. The steak frites ($29/ $39) was also a star. You have the choice of a flat iron or filet mignon steak that comes with demi-glace, fries, and greens. My cousin chose the filet mignon. The steak was cooked to her liking and was melting in her mouth. No complaints about the fries or greens. Finally, the soufflé ($14)... A MUST HAVE after you eat! It's a good portion for two if you just want a couple of bites, or go all out and get one for each person! To find this place, you must locate the Pike Place Market sign outside if you want a landmark location. They're on the that end of the market not too far from the fish market that is famous for throwing their fish when they have purchases. There's a hallway to the left of them. You'll see their neon signs above and down the hall. There will be a host who will greet you and take you to your table. They have an indoor and outdoor seating option. Their outdoor seating has a view of the pier. There are also large umbrellas for shade. We had an amazing server. His name was Thierry. He even offered a blanket if we got too cold outside. Thierry was very knowledgeable of the menu, told us the specials of the day, he was very attentive, patient, and had a smile on his face. He even cracked a few jokes with us! The prices are very reasonable here for what you will consume. Everything looked and tasted as it was carefully prepared with the chef's passion for food. Maximilien takes both walk ins and reservations. I do recommend a reservation if it's a beautiful Seattle day, especially if you'd like to dine outside. Reservations can be made on their site through Resy. Do note that you can cancel within 24hrs of your reservations. If you do not, you will be charged on the card you have on file for the reservation. We had a beautiful experience with delectable dishes, and a delightful server. Maximilien comes highly recommended from me and my family. Their food will exceed your expectations and wanting more!

Yelp
Wow! Such a breath of fresh air, so tasteful, great view, and unexpected. We were looking for a place for lunch and stumbled around the corner on this gem in Pike Place Market. The view is stunning of the harbor. It was required to have your vaccination card and ID to be seated. The server was so attentive. I got the mussels with Pom frites and a Moscow mule. Every thing was so delicious. The restroom is located upstairs with a view and feeling of a small partisan cafe, perfect. I will definitely be back to this gem when I come back to town.

Yelp
Excellent service and quiet but very quaint ambiance. The food is delicious and from what the staff shared, authentically French. A great spot for a romantic night out.

Yelp
I used to love Maximilien. I've celebrated many special occasions here back in the day, as I love French food, which is hard to come by in the Seattle area. But I don't know if I love it anymore. I still like it and all. But something seems to be off from what it once was. In my most recent dining experience here, my friend made reservations for her birthday here, for us to all sit out on the deck. Yes, the deck is the best seat in the house, as it has views of the water, Seattle Wheel and everything else that'll catch your eye, reminding you you're in the heart of Seattle. I give them that. On a summer evening, there was live music, which was nice and everyone seemed to be having a fun time. It's certainly a very romantic restaurant, as many couples dressed up were dining here. Plus, since it's located in Pike Place Market, the location is unbeatable for that special occasion dinner. All of the food we ordered was delicious. We started with the foie gras, frites, bread and for my entree, I had the salmon dish with potato gratin, broccolini, smothered in a tarragon sauce. I enjoyed it, as it was a solid meal, not heavy yet filling. The only complaint with the food was the creme brulee, as it didn't have that crackling sound or texture once you punctured your spoon in this dish, which is essential to creme brulee. It seemed that the creme brulee was pre-made, so wasn't the best dessert. Since there were five of us, gratuity was already included in our bill; however, our server didn't show us a receipt and just had a portable credit card machine to take our payments. So we all ended up tipping in addition to the set gratuity, and realized this afterwards. No one questioned anything since it was my friend's birthday and we didn't want her paying for anything. It's stuff like that which makes me not love Maximilien. I still enjoy my time here; but like I said before, it's not love.

Yelp
C'est bon! Cozy little French restaurant tucked into Pike Place Market. Cool spot to escape the crowds, bask in the warm glow of red lights, and enjoy a great view of Puget Sound and West Seattle. The Boudreaux and confit de canard (duck) were delicious. Les plats all look delicious - I'll be back.

Yelp
We made reservations through Amex paid $35 to insure we got a table. We had seen on line they had these dome like eating area that looked really cool, but when we got there they said due to summer they didn't have them up. Only winter time. So we ended up inside. What's nice about making our reservations through Amex they ask if there's any special accommodation that is needed. Of course since I have food allergies it comes in handy and we write in what I am allergic to. The restaurant is vibe was a twist on French cuisine, bite small and a little louder than expected, but following the theme of a French atmosphere, it was understandable. The view was nice from where we sat was a nice view. We were placed in middle of dining room so I was able to see everything outside the windows over looking the back part of Pikes Market Place towards the waterfront where the Big Ferris Wheel was going around and around. We had a super nice waiter, very friendly and good looking I have to say. We went in for a late lunch early dinner. The menu is simple and not overly complicated one page with starters and main course and desserts. I was immediately drawn to the Corte de Porc Seared 16oz pork tomahawk, garlic butter, demi-glacé, mash potatoes and Brussels sprouts with thick cut bacon ends and caramelized onions. I was most drawn to this dish since there were no mushrooms in the dish. The other dishes had mushrooms and the night before I had a steak else where so didn't want to repeat the whole steak meal again. For a beverage I ordered iced tea, since I don't drink alcohol or soda. From the time the order was placed to when it arrived at table 10-15 mins. I found it to be fast, which was great since I was very hungry. Visually the dish was a beautiful, a culinary work of art. My first words were thumbs up to the chef. Before I could dive in to eat, I noticed mushrooms on my plate. I thought I was seeing things, but having allergies especially one that is a death sentence, I said nope can't eat it and called the waiter over. At first look the waiter said it wasn't mushrooms but I insured him they were in deed mushrooms naming the mushroom type and moving them aside. I told the waiter, I noted it the reservation I was allergies to mushrooms, I told him there was no mention of mushrooms on the menu for the dish. The waiter immediately took it away and apologized for the food mix up. "Side note I always feel so bad when the waiter's or waitress have to apologize for the cooks/chef's mistakes". The waiter came back and apologized again, said I was correct and was correct about the dish not mentioning mushrooms, apparently the chef took it upon himself to do something different just right there and then. I was told they like re-fire and whole new dishes for me. "Side note, usually when that happens I usually cut the into the protein so that I don't get the same one or most of the time I don't get the same thing I usually just wait until whom ever I am with to finish and I eat elsewhere". Remember I went in for a late lunch early dinner so I was hungry so I let them re-fire new dish. Upon waiting the manager came to express his concerns about the mix up and apologized for that. The waiter finally brought the re-fired dish out, it was a totally different dish altogether. I wasn't going to complain they left out the garlic butter or that the pork was completely smaller than the first one. Upon tasting the meal after waiting all that time. All I have to say is it was worth it, garlic butter who care they left it off, smaller portion of pork tomahawk who cares. The first bite sent me off to a place of the food heavens. It was like butter, it melted in my mouth, I had to stop chewing just to take in every flavor combination that was taking place in my mouth. The pork was cooked to a perfect temperature, the demi-glacé was amazing, the Brussels sprouts and mash potatoes spot on with flavor, and the bacon ends were unbelievable almost stealing the spotlight. This dish has landed in my top 10 dishes of all times. Rating #5 for me. From the first bite to the last I didn't stop to talk or drink, I felt like a was a kid racing to finish my meal to head off to play video games, trust me that big for me. Since video games is part of my life. Despite the whole mix up with the chef adding his own little twist on the meal when I ordered it. I have to say it was and is most delicious dish I have had this year. So if you are in the Pikes Places Market area, find Maximilien restaurant and try the Cote de Porc it will be the best delicious choice you will make have made.

Yelp
Nothing special here. This restaurant seems to have a bit of an identity crisis - trying to be way fancier than what they actually are. The oysters were decent, but the cheese plate was sub par and i couldn't believe that you actually have to pay extra for bread/crackers with the cheese plate. Like what? It already costs $16 why am I paying for bread? Anyway, service was nice but overall just a meh experience, nothing special.
