Maxine's on Shine is a charming Orlando eatery offering eclectic comfort food, live music, and a lively brunch scene in a cozy atmosphere.
"In operation for more than a decade, Maxine and Kirt Earhart's Colonialtown charmer is everyone's favorite neighborhood hangout. Crowds spill out in front during the weekend for brunch, thanks to a host of comforting dishes that soothe and satisfy. Think plates of fried green tomatoes, flaky crab cakes and of course, chicken and waffles. Dinner follows suit with such familiar yet flavorful dishes as a half-pound burger, or skillet lasagna, which is available with roasted vegetables instead of beef. There are good vibes all round. The décor is eclectic and bears a whimsical slant by way of bold colors, lots of artwork, a dark, sultry bar, as well as tightly packed tables. Interior accommodations are supplemented by ample outdoor seating." - Michelin Inspector
"A neighborhood restaurant in every sense, Maxine’s has been entertaining guests since 2012 thanks to the antics of owner/slam poet Kirt Earhart and his animal-print-loving chanteuse of a wife, Maxine. Both gleefully work the room (which looks more like a boudoir), making sure each and every one of their guests is having as much fun as they are. The menu is about as eclectic as the clientele, with everything from escargots en croute to cioppino to skillet lasagna. The parking lot has been converted to an outdoor seating area featuring private covered cabanas with fans, plants, and mosquito netting. The parking lot is now a permanently covered outdoor dining pavilion (with heaters for those chilly winter months)." - Faiyaz Kara

"This spot specializes in aa mix of comfort food and bistro classics—think fried green tomatoes, Key West crab cakes, pork chops with Bavarian sausage, lobster ravioli, burgers. Not really a place for dining light, but it's a very popular place for weekend brunch with a great little outdoor patio, too." - Terry Ward
"The city’s most boho of boîtes pairs its Southern-leaning brunch menu with dishes like fried chicken biscuit bowl, stout braised brisket omelet, seafood creole served over polenta, with plenty of live music and entertainment to keep the mood cheery and undeniably quirky. A visit from proprietors Kirt and Maxine Earhart is as likely as a refill (or two) of the mason jar mimosa. The “Rejuicination Brunch” is offered Friday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Faiyaz Kara
