Where to Drink Cocktails in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Inside the Granada Hotel in Midtown, May Peel is the place to go for late-night Spanish-inspired bites, like drunken goat croquettes and a ham and Manchego cheese board. The dark, cozy bar welcomes you with throwback tracks from Destiny’s Child, Lauryn Hill, and other R&B legends. The spirits menu is just as enticing as the food, with cocktails divided into two categories: New and Neat, and Tried and True. The Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Martini is made with local Murrell’s Row gin, plus some fun additions like saffron and paprika oil. Standouts include the Suissesse (minty, creamy, refreshing, presented in a highball-style glass) and the Thinking Machine (a pucker-inducing bright green pisco and midori cocktail topped with a strawberry foam)." - Allison Ramirez

We stayed at the hotel and decided to try the bar — cool speakeasy vibe, but the drinks were just okay. What surprised us was the automatic 18% gratuity added for 2 of us. even for one quick round. For hotel guests, and with average drinks and minimal service, it felt unnecessary. Would’ve appreciated the option to tip based on service.

When I was visiting Atlanta I stumbled upon this little gem. Highlights: They have a live saxophone player on Thursdays; their staff ( Suki & Tamara) are so sweet, welcoming and really make you feel like you are at home. Upscale, calm and sexy space. Both T & S make great drinks efficiently and the bar is tidy. They really make you feel special. - Hazel

Sexy, sophisticated and great vibes! Located in the basement of Hotel Granada, reminds you of a speakeasy in old films. The dimly lit bar is illuminated by small candles on each table with cushy chairs. The menu has an array of cocktails, wines, and small bites ; like charcuterie boards and gourmet olives. (might need to use your flashlight to see it haha) The ambiance is so great, even the bathrooms are decorated nicely! Our waitress was very kind and attentive; making sure that waters were filled and everyone at the table gets their drinks in a timely manner. If you have a party of three or more, you will be presented with one check (so have your Zelle ready!)

We just dropped in for cocktails (no reservation) and were able to easily find a place at the bar on a Saturday night. The drinks were great! Loved the vibes of this place; it feels like a speak-easy. It is a little pricy, but worth a visit. Parking was pretty easy - there is a parking deck attached. You enter through the front entrance of the Grenada hotel and walk down the hallway to the left until you get to an elevator. Go down to level “P” and you’ll find it!

The vibes in this place are immaculate, the music was on point and our server Dioanna was super knowledgeable about all of the cocktails on the menu. They were able to comfortably seat 7 of us on a Friday night which is a huge plus!

Upscale yet comfortable and cozy cocktail lounge. We stumbled upon this GEM on our weekly date night and it did not disappoint! Our waitress was attentive and provided wonderful suggestions for our craft cocktails. We will be back with friends!

Tucked away like a secret Atlanta knows how to keep, The May Peel is the kind of place that makes you feel instantly cooler just by walking in. From the elevator ride down to the bottom floor, you'd never guess what you're walking into. It’s giving full-on Great Gatsby meets grown-and-sexy R&B lounge. Let’s talk vibes, because this place nails them. The lighting is low and moody in the best way—think warm golden glows, cozy corners, and just enough mystery to make every seat feel like the best one in the house. The design is rich, intimate, and intentional. Velvet touches, art-deco details, and a bar that looks like it was made for sipping whiskey and sharing secrets. And then… the playlist. Y’all. Whoever curates the R&B rotation deserves a raise, a round of applause, and a hug. It’s sultry, smooth, and nostalgic in all the right ways—think Brandy, Fantasia, Maxwell, Faith Evans, and classic Usher back to back. It sets the perfect tone: sexy, and soulful. Now for the drinks—chef’s kiss. Creative, beautifully balanced cocktails with just the right kick. Whether you’re into smoky mezcal, botanical gin, or bourbon-forward drinks, the bartenders know their stuff and will craft something that fits your mood. This isn’t your basic vodka-soda situation—every sip is an experience. The May Peel is exactly what a speakeasy should be: stylish but not stuffy, lively but not chaotic, and made for nights filled with laughter, conversation, and really, really good music. Grab your favorite people and slip inside—you’re going to want to stay a while.

Super cute space, chic and swanky. The bartenders are phenomenal. The drinks are absolutely delicious. I need to return when it’s a DJ experience. My only take away, is the valet, could staff valet better. It’s a struggle to park and get your car because it’s usually 1 person or 2 people and it gets backed up quickly. There is this drink that comes with a cookie, and that cookie is so buttery and good.
