Maya Taqueria of East Village

Easily the best burritos in EV. When I dream of a burrito their Cali carne asada is what I dream of. A little pricey but honestly worth it and they are not stingy. A lot of steak options are the same shitty, gristly, overly chopped bits. Theirs is, dare I say, sumptuous. Salsas are diverse, free, and delicious. Also, rare to have an horchata that’s this good: not from a powder but also not wildly thick, syrupy, or over-sweet. Can’t really speak to anything else that isn’t a carne asada cali burrito or horchata. Normally I feel bad ordering the same thing over and over but I can’t help myself here because it’s so damn good and reliable and scratches that itch I have for a *real* burrito. If they had lengua it would be a 6

I was so impressed with Maya’s catering options for my party of 15! Food was great and was delivered promptly, and it was so thoughtful that they delivered my churros later in the evening so they stayed warm. Thanks again for a great experience!

FINALLY, good Mission style burritos in Manhattan! I think I just found my new favorite burrito joint and I really love Mexican food. I ordered a wet super burrito and it was absolutely fantastic. I’m excited to try more from Maya!

Seriously some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! Their burritos are delicious especially the breakfast burrito and the birria tacos also are also good. Super filling left overs will be had! Great price!

Was running around the park today when I saw this new Mexican spot. Was weighing whether to get take out and run home with it or skip. Hunger and curiosity got the better of me. Maya is qualitatively better than burrito spots near by on First Ave hands down. It does get expensive if you add options but price is comparable with similar places. Recommend the Danny Danny burrito and make sure to try all the salsas.

The people here are extremely kind and the food is fire. The tres leches cake and the tamales here are a personal favorite. Not a lot of good Mexican food around EV but this is a stand out.

Gluten free burrito wraps are amazing. Please add this to all your locations! My favorite Mexican place in the city.

I LOVE Maya taqueria. So happy they expanded to a manhattan location because its the best tamales and fajitas for a Californian in New York

Newer Mexican restaurant in the East Village - I stopped by on a busy weeknight and took a gamble on their special Thanksgiving burrito, featuring pulled turkey that was supposed to be in some sort of cranberry honey sauce. Burrito was just okay, it tasted just like a regular pulled chicken burrito - maybe it was, who knows! Their salsa options are really great, but the cups are minuscule and the serving bar is a bit of a mess. I did appreciate the option for a whole wheat tortilla. Giving extra points for free chips as well as the service - despite being slammed with takeout orders, the staff was kind and fast. The place is very small with maybe 4 tables or so but seems to do a ton of delivery.

I was so excited for this place to open but then so disappointed when I ordered food. - delivery arrived completely cold, which is weird because I live close - they didn't follow any item instructions (sauce on the side, no onions, no Guac. Etc) - not sure what's up with the quesadillas... they're legit huge in a bad way - but the serious offense here is the salsa. The salsa is BAD. The red is hot with no flavor. The green is literally water. It's green water. Onion and cilantro flavored water. End of the day - you can't trust a place that can't make a semi-decent salsa.

Once again Maya does not miss! Just moved to the east village and I was so excited to hear Maya expanding right in my neighborhood. This location is just as fantastic as the other ones. The place looked amazing, service was awesome, and that cali burrito was delicious !

Service was very friendly!! I got the carne asada quesadilla and it was delicious. Great portion and flavor. I was pleasantly surprised to see chips included. Salsa bar is cool. Definitely will be going back!

Excellent burritos, nice staff, but salsa cups are wayyy too small (you need 3 for a single burrito) so multiple burritos gets very tedious.
