I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Maya's was genuinely disappointing.
I made a reservation for 4pm for two people. When we arrived, the restaurant was not busy and the bar was completely empty. We asked if we could sit at the bar to watch the football game on TV. The waitress looked confused, then said yes, but insisted we sit in a specific corner spot with our backs to the TV. We really wanted to face the TV, but we complied anyway.
From that moment on, the attitude felt off.
We sat at the bar for about 15 minutes without being acknowledged by the bartender, despite him clearly seeing us and not being busy. We eventually had to ask if we could order drinks. No greeting, no smile...just annoyance. We ordered a margarita and a beer. Only one drink came.
The waitress took our food order, walked away, then came back and asked for it again, as if she'd forgotten it entirely.
When the food arrived, the missing beer still hadn't come. I had to raise my voice to get the bartender's attention and asked about it. We ordered a Tona, and he brought a Corona instead. When we explained the mistake and asked for the correct beer, he made an extremely unpleasant face and acted inconvenienced. When my boyfriend spoke louder to clarify (thinking maybe he hadn't heard us), the bartender snapped, "You don't have to yell."
At that point, he continued with visible attitude, muttering under his breath. We asked for to-go boxes and the check and left without finishing.
The level of hostility and unprofessionalism from both the bartender and waitress was shocking, especially considering the restaurant was slow. We were polite the entire time and simply wanted drinks, food, and to watch the game. Instead, we felt like a burden.
Unfortunately, service like this overshadows everything else. We won't be returning.
