On a weekday evening it was easy to just get seated even for our large group. They were really chill with us. They didn't have as many sauces and dips as I expected but their meats and entrees certainly were awesome. Big portions and delicious flavors. I'd come back. This gives me very classic Persian restaurant vibes. Thanks.

Good Persian food, but prices jumped since last time I was there 6 months ago. Hard to believe a side of Shirazi salad or Mast 'o Khiar is now $10 and koobideh is $29! #thankstrump I'll continue to visit Maykadeh when I'm in San Francisco, but I still find better Persian food in southern California.

Reza Soltani

Google
They serve you bread, basil and butter instead of feta cheese! Charge $4 for glass of soda and spell out no refills in their menu, and charge more than Rumi’s Kitchen for their food for a whole in the wall vibe atmosphere. Just don’t understand how they’re still in business.

Google
The food is definitely overpriced for the ambience, or lack thereof, and the service. Food is a bit on the acidic side; definitely better Persian food elsewhere.

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.”

Delicious kebabs and authentic Persian flavors. Great service and cozy vibe, definitely worth it if you’re craving quality Middle Eastern food.

We're still searching for a good Persian Restaurant that has the original delicious taste of Kubide. We haven't found one yet. This looked promising from the pictures and to be fair, the Mast Musir and the Salade Shirazi were great, but the Kubide had absolutely had no taste whatsoever. I couldn't believe it. Not to mention that you get too small skewers (maybe 10 inches) for 29 dollars. The owner and the employees were very nice and the food came quick. They really need to fix the recipe.

We went there for my birthday! Staff were super friendly Food was amazing , and they brought me a really nice dessert for my birthday Also My favorite dish was Ghorme sabzi! Try it !

Yelp
Tardy review here as I came on NYE 2024. This is one of my all time favorite Persian restaurants. I have nothing but admiration for this establishment as they are consistently great at what they do. Food is amazing. Service is typically excellent. Finally, nothing beats white table cloth, same servers for years and dining in North Beach. Quick Summary + Lamb tongue is my all time favorite. It cannot be replicated. It's tender, creamy and bursting with flavor. There is little gaminess in that smooth texture of lengua. Add a little sumac to the yogurt sauce for a little more tart and it's delicious. I want my last meal to be this dish. It's that good! (5/5) + Koobideh meal here comes with saffron rice, tomato and 2 skewers. It has a hint of lamb flavor which I think differentiates it from others. There is a juicy char flavor to this traditional favorite. (5/5) + Ghorme Sabzee is a leg of lamb stewed in Persian spices with kidney beans. It's like Persian Hormel chili on steroids. Unfortunately it's an acquired taste as I used to find it bland but grew to love this dish over the years. (5/5) - Lunchtime service was slow this day as I felt like I waited almost 1 hour for the food. (3/5) - Parking can be difficult at night but NYE was not a problem. (3/5) I've been coming here for over 30 years. They've gone away with the Lamborghini Countach posters in the restroom. It's been renovated nicely with marble/granite. My Persian buddy that took me here as a teenager still ask me about this place. When I'm nearby, I'll order the lamb tongue for takeout. I am impressed that I've seen staff members from eons ago still around. Valet parking here is very convenient.

Yelp
I love coming to this restaurant when I'm in the city and craving for Persian food. It was busy during dinner time, but luckily we got seated in about 15 minutes. We ordered the Baba Ghanoush, a smoked roasted egg plant with tahini that's finely chopped smoothly to spread over the pita bread. Kashke Bademjan is an eggplant with garlic and mint combined smoothly. A perfect combination with the pita bread. Chelo-kabob Koobideh, a ground meat that's combined with Angus beef and lamb with Persian spices, it was perfectly grilled. Koresht Fesenjoon, a chicken thigh cooked in dry roasted walnuts and pomegranate juice. This was tender, and the sauce had a mild sweet and sour taste to it. Koresht bademjan, a lamb shank that's braised with eggplant and tomato saffron, it was really tender and savory. My favorite dessert is the homemade Baklava, a sweet phyllo crust with pistachios, a perfect way to end the meal. Great service, definitely will come back again.

Yelp
Lunch at this spot was a delightful experience--especially for my keto-loving friend who skips carbs without complaint. We arrived on a quiet weekday, and I mean really quiet--we were the only diners in the place. Our order was simple but satisfying: four kebabs, a generous helping of garlic dip, and an unusual request for extra onion as a carb-free alternative to the pile of pita (which I happily demolished). The kebabs--those long, flavorful skewers of seasoned lamb--were superbly spiced and incredibly dense, in the best way possible. I crafted little bites of pita, meat, and garlic sauce that were nothing short of heavenly. Even the roasted tomato on the plate was worth mentioning for its smoky perfection. But let's not forget the real star of the show--the dining room kitty! This little feline sat quietly behind us throughout the entire meal, the picture of politeness. It added a cozy, quirky charm that I'll remember long after the taste of garlic dip fades. Final verdict? Great food, fantastic ambiance (thanks, kitty), and an enjoyable lunch break. =^..^=

Yelp
During a business trip, my boss recommended Maykadeh in Telegraph Hill for a great Persian lunch for myself and another colleague. Overall, the experience was quite lovely. On a picture-perfect day in San Francisco, the three of us scored a great shaded outdoor table to enjoy our lunch. Prior to sitting down, we were trying to find parking, which can prove nearly impossible in this area, especially on a Friday or Saturday. I did notice that a few spaces were reserved out front (apparently for valet), but they were not marked. A gentleman approached us when we parked and didn't tell us he was valet, but instead demanded our keys and $20. When I asked if he was the valet, he wouldn't answer, instead insisting we give him the keys and $20. I again questioned him but he wasn't answering my question. Eventually, someone from the restaurant confirmed that he was the valet. I didn't want to just hand over my car keys to a stranger, so I wished he just identified himself from the start, rather than create a minor hostile experience. Once seated, the service was friendly and welcoming. The woman that took our orders was quiet, but polite, and brought our food out within 20 minutes. I went with the Poussin entree, (Baby chicken with all the bones marinated in onion, saffron, lime juice, vegetables, Basmati rice), as my boss recommended getting this version with bone-in for all of the added marinated juices. When my plate arrived, it was quite full of color and flavors. The chicken itself was outstanding. Incredibly juicy, well seasoned and delicious. The Basmati rice was also excellent. However, aside from the wonderful grilled tomato, the green vegetables were a bit underwhelming in flavor and temperature with respect to the other elements on the plate. My colleagues also enjoyed their Koobideh skewers, and a little more adventurous Lamb Tongue and Brain, if that suits your particular taste palette. The prices are also very reasonable, considering the quality and the amount of food served. San Francisco is one of those great culinary cities in America. I have had some many wonderful experiences here. A restaurant like Maykadeh is a solid option if you are in the area looking for a casual, no fuss, homemade Persian culinary treat.

Yelp
(3.5 out of 5) If the rating was just in food it would be a 2/2.5, but the ambiance in this place is amazing, I was with my friends family we walked in on New Year's Eve and got escorted to the back. The ambiance here... 6/5 it was super fun with music and people dancing. Definitely a great experience! I suggest this place just for the fun of it! Service was exceptional! When you come tell them Rothyy sent you!

Yelp
Food: 4.3/5 The meal started with warm bread, greens, sumac and good butter. Ghormeh sabzi tasted authentic. The rice for the kebab dish had an unexpected sweetness to it which I didn't necessarily enjoy. Chicken kebob was ok. My personal favorite was the lule (with ground lamb and beef). Presentation: 4.7/5 The dishes were not works of art, but the food was served in a family style which felt very traditional and made us nostalgic for home. We loved every bit of it. Service: 5/5 The staff were super friendly and prompt with our requests. Atmosphere: 4/5 A cozy but spacious family restaurant vibes. Nothing spectacular though. Value: 4/5 While not inexpensive, the value to enjoyment ratio was fair. Overall Rating: 4.7/5 My friends and I enjoyed our time there and will go back when in need for some good kebob.

Yelp
I would give a ZERO if I could!!!!!!! Today, I ordered 2 Kashke Bademjan & Baghali Polo(Sunday Only) with lamb shank from Maykadeh and it was the most disappointing food I could ever order. First of all the portions were a child's meal portion . It was only bunch of oil and smelly meat Kashkeh Bademjan and Polo was a joke . No flavor !!They gave us hardly any bread to go with Kashkeh Bademjan . The two prices of bread they gave us were awful . Couldn't even eat the food , after my second chew I had to stop . DISAPPOINTING all the way! The food was bad but the person who answered the phone was horrible. She was so unprofessional & ignorant. There is no way I would order again . They should close this restaurant. A very bad rep. for Persian cuisine!!!!

Yelp
We were a walk-in towards the end of a night with a party of 6. We were super grateful they took us in late and made sure gratuity reflected that. We were here with 2 Afghani/Persian couples and had no idea what to order. And they ordered everything for us and it was fantastic. We got the Kashke Bademjan. We really liked this one a lot. The eggplant provides a sweet bite into what is a savory green curry. The bottom of the plate is like crusted rice, like you know how if you let the rice cooker on too long, the bottom will harden and clump together. It was like that and it offered a nice crunch to the dish. The joojeh was also really good. There's this like red powder of spice I think you have to ask for but I recommend eating that with it. The baghali was amazing as well. The combination of herbs and beans gives it a fresh and savory flavor. The fallodeh is amazing too. It's a frozen treat made with thin, vermicelli-like noodles combined with a sweet syrup flavored with rose water. Sometimes, lime juice, cherry syrup, or sour cherry puree is added to enhance its flavor. The service was very attentive. I drank everything with a house red. Was a nice choice for heavy curry/meats. One of the wives from our party was being especially difficult calling out every "inconvenience" to the point where the husband was like "dude we like going here, can you not ruin it for us let alone the folks who are here with us now?" And both of the other couples including us were like... uhh chill everything's turning out great. Was funny to watch unfold - but wanted to commend the service on handling it with grace. And I hope they saw that we the only one's chillin'. I kept thinking to myself the scene in the Ryan Reynold's movie, Waiting. Don't belittle people in general but especially not the ones who make your food lmaooo. Look up that scene, I just kept joking at our table that I loved the taste of dandruff to kill the tension home gurl was making hahaha. But yeah - would definitely love to come back and want to show others who visit the Persian dishes here!

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We felt that the prices were fair given the quantity of the food and quality. The wine was simple and paired well with the food. We appreciated the fact that valet parking was available since it is challenging to find parking in North Beach, SF.

Yelp
So happy I found this place. I'm from SoCal so Persian food is one of my favorites. There's not too many in the city but this one is a gem. The food I ordered was amazing. The quality tastes so good and juicy. I ordered the Chelo Kebab Koobideh and it was perfect, just what I wanted. I also got the Kashke Bademjan since it was a popular item and I can see why. It's a great dip. The service was soo kind and fast. I came in for my lunch on a Monday, it was really slow but I got great service. The space was big and beautiful. Definitely a good spot for groups. I'll keep this place in mind for a large dinner group in the future.

Yelp
Food: - gheymeh was terrible! too salty, very little meet, tasted like tomato paste - joojeh: was okey but too much butter on it - koobideh: some parts were burned - zaboon: too salty! - desenjoon : not good, too sweet - tahdig with khoresh: no meet in khoresh - it took them 50 minutes to prepare our food - music: terrible! Very unpleasant Persian dance music! You would listen to in a party but not at a sit-down dinner at a restaurant! - bathroom: dirty

Yelp
One of my fav restaurants in the city - I started eating out less but before I would come here once a week haha I will say their vegan options are limited to none, BUT if you love grilled meats and just good persian food please come here! Standouts are the lamb tongue (don't knock it till you try it - it's filled with saffron and cream I love it, and it's so tender). I also love the chicken koobideh (the most tender chicken ever) and the beef koobideh ofcourse! Parking is a bit tough here but they have valet

Yelp
We had a late lunch here a couple weeks back. It was not too crowded. All the customers other than us seemed to be Persian. We had the lamb and yellow peas curry with rice and it was quite tasty. The service is quite rushed and not friendly - you'd expect better service in a place with white tablecloths. It was better when I first visited this place in about 2017.

Yelp
Mmmmm Maykadeh is the place! The space is awesome with a bi monthly band that is upbeat. Exceptional food with many vegetarian options. Come on in and take a needed respite from the hectic day to day. This is the ultimate hideaway from the drone of tourists in North Beach.

Yelp
Terrific lunch here, I'm obsessed with fesenjoon, the sauce sort of like the Persian version of Mexican mole, but thanks to pomegranate, much tangier, and sometimes thicker (cuz of the walnuts). Here, they make it thick and dark , a velvety sweet and sour lusciousness. The chicken things are fall off the bone tender, a hearty and generous portion with two full thighs. They use organic chicken great quality, as they do lamb, which is grass fed. We got their lamb stew as well, both served with basmati rice. Their feta cheese spread with sun-dried tomatoes as appetizer, served with pita and mounds of fresh basil leaves, butter, white onion--soooo good. The ambience is beautiful and I can imagine it at night, with the e lights dimmed, a sexy romantic old fashioned vibe. It's civilized with white tablecloths, a hint of genteel. The prices are reasonable, especially for the portions, and the customer service is awesome, e.g. parking was an absolute beast, no matter we circled several blocks and looked for garages, even on a working day in the middle of the afternoon, there was no parking. My husband dropped me off, and I mentioned ed to the woman that he was looking for parking and she told me to simply park in front of the restaurant--no charge! WTF? I. Mean. Free parking win front of a restaurant in North Beach for free! This is beyond what my imagination can conjure. Love this place!

Yelp
Maykadeh... the best of the best. Superb meal. Excellent team of servers. Gracious restaurant host. Put this at the top of your list of San Francisco restaurants.

Shervin M.

Yelp
I have been going to this place for over 40 years and the food used to be excellent. About 2 months ago I went there and the koobideh kabobs we had ordered were burnt or undercooked. The portion of rice had shrunk tremendously too. We thought that was a look so we went back tonight. My Barg kabob was not tender at all and the quality of meat was very poor. My daughter's kabob was burnt again and when we asked for a replacement, it was delivered almost immediately. We got suspicious and checked it. It was the same kabob with the burnt part scraped off. Well after nearly 50 years, no more. What a shame! This was the Persian restaurant to go, but not anymore.

Yelp
The food here is great and the staff are very nice. We came here to meet a friends and his Persian family. Coincidentally it was his mother's birthday too and we celebrated with a cute caramel pudding offered from the staff. The must try food is Chicken Koobideh, its very juicy and tenderness with the rice. The kebob is very soft and can feel the softness for every single grab of kebob. I'd highly recommend this dish. One dish is good for two people. Parking is hard during busy times, but able to find a block from the restaurant, its a hilly side place to park. The ambience is good.

Yelp
To be honest, the food was below average. The rice from the tahdig tasted old and I'm not sure why the beef koobideh was so yellow and had an odd flavor. Would not come back.

Yelp
Maykadeh was recommended by one of my clients! On a cold, rainy night, we came here to do take out of two chicken breast kabab plates. When we got home, we were shocked at how much food it was especially the meats! For $26 a plate it's not cheap but the amount of food and quality they give you, was worth it. The chicken breasts was marinated very well, lots of flavor. You get a big, juicy tomato, side of string beans, bell peppers, onions over a large bed of rice. I ate as much as I could but still had leftovers. The food also came with a box of mint salad and pita breads. I can't rave enough about Maykadeh! We really enjoyed it! Even our cat can't resist and kept sniffing around because he wanted a piece of chicken! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Priscilla C.

Yelp
The food at Maykadeh was very delicious and fresh. It took a while for the food to arrive but it was worth it. I wish they had a more casual vibe because I would probably be here soo often. I can't wait to return. And all the staff was nice!

Yelp
Maykadeh has an unparalleled reputation when it comes to the quality and consistency of menu dishes and their unique flavors. I have been a guest of Maykadeh for years, whether visiting in person with family, inviting friends to join me for dinner, or ordering online. Each and every experience has lived itself to its most fulfilled purpose. When ordering for home or inviting guests, there was no shortage of comments addressed to food and its quality, and in retrospect, a taste of home: food made with love, quality, and care. Additionally, Maykadeh staff has an utmost respect for their clients. Staff is very professional, and has appreciation for their guests, as individuals and 'gourmets' invited to try Persian food :). Thank you, Maykadeh, for your impeccable service, quality, and delivery. It is hard to find restaurants that maintain this integrity year after year. Highly recommend to visit this place; prepare to really enjoy your meal!

Bobak M.

Yelp
What an absolute joke this place has become. $50 for kabob? To begin with that's the most offensive thing. Then you have matters like - won't do half rice half salad you have to order salad as an extra item. Then to top it all off the meat as so much meat tenderizer in it you lose any of the actual flavor. I'm beyond embarrassed by this place now. How sad. And the owner has the audacity to tell someone at a table next to me that this is the way we have operated for 41 years. No hat guy, no it isn't but I'm def done coming here
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food!!! I ordered the Lamb Chops and they were cooked to perfection with the most amazing flavor. Also the Tadig was really good but my wife ate half of it . Can't wait to come back to date night with the wifey again. Salamati

Yelp
My meal was perfection. Kebabs were juicy and spiced very well. The host is a gentleman and he is the owner. Food extremely authentic and delicious. The pita was blah. A must visit. There is a jazz club in the back.

Yelp
We had a reservation at Maykadeh 12:30 pm today. I knew it was going to be a quiet lunch because it was Monday. I had been at this restaurant a few times in the past & my last visit was in 2019 so it had been a while. The outdoor dining looked nice. The dining room had the ambiance of Persian restaurant. My friend was new to this cuisine. I spoke to my friend about Dough. The server gave her 1/2 glass of Dough to taste. In the beginning she was shocked with the taste but later on she liked it. Same experience I had the first time I tasted a bottle of Dough & now I am loving it. So we ordered instead the Persian tea. We were given the Sabzi as complement but no feta cheese and walnuts. It came with butter on the side. They served with half white onion & half of the red radish. The herb was basil leaves only and missing parsley. The compliment came with warmed pita bread. The server said the owner had cut down the serving. Sorry to compare with my experiences with the other Persian restaurants. Otherwise, we ordered the complete traditional garnish & feta cheese. We focus discussing with the server the main entrees & I forgotten to order the Kashke Bademjan so my friend can taste it. I told her next time. My friend ordered Chelo-kebab Chicken Koobideh & I ordered the Maykadeh Soltani (combination of Barg & Chelo-kebab Koobideh). We told the server we are eating like a family style. So the food came on a platter with grilled tomatoes. The saffron basmati rice were served on plates separately. I had to tilt the platter to scoop some of the meat juice for the basmati rice. I learned this from my Persian husband. The rice tasted more delicious. We both enjoyed the food but we were not able to finish the kabobs & rice. So my friend asked for a box to go. For dessert we ordered Makhloot (half Faloodeh and half Bastani). They don't have this on the dessert menu but they can make it. Faloodeh is rose water noodle frosted sorbet served with fresh lime juice & Bastani is Persian gelato flavored with rose water, saffron & pistachio. My friend liked it. We had a pleasant lunch and took us about two hours at the restaurant as we were also exchanging our beautiful experiences. We were lucky we found a parking on the street near the restaurant. Food was delicious, service was good and nice ambiance. I don't mind returning & I recommend this restaurant.

Hasti A.

Yelp
The quality of the food was not good, and the koobideh tasted like kotlet, smelled like gas. The prices did not match with their website and The portion did not match other Persian restaurants. Probably won't come back. You can park in front of the restaurant, and don't pay the $30 parking fee, because we saw others did not pay, but we paid.

Yelp
After an afternoon workout, one of my best friends and I were starving! I was craving for persian food and pulled up Maykadeh. I've had it on my list for some time so we decided to check it out. It's in the North Beach area so parking can be challenging but we were able to park in the outdoor lot a block down. Service was great! We didn't make reservations but they were able to seat us right away on a Thursday night. The ambiance is beautiful and a bit romantic but I was with a friend and it was still perfect. We ordered a few dishes and an appetizer and everything tasted amazing. I will definitely return when I'm craving persian food. Loved it here.

Yelp
One of the best Persian restaurants in SF! Really authentic and a really welcoming vibe. The food is a bit pricy but you get what you pay for in terms of quality and flavor. It gets pretty busy which is a good sign but that may mean the wait is a little longer than usual. Just grab some appetizers, some wine, and enjoy the cultural experience!

Yelp
Having a wife who is Persian has opened my eyes to the fantastic Persian culture and the great flavors of the cuisine. I have been to Maykadeh quite a few times; but tonight was "exceptional." "Exceptional" in this case means exceptionally BAD. We made a reservation for 25 people, picking Maykadeh to celebrate the New year. Arriving at the restaurant and being escorted to their new "back room", we were surprised to find a long table set for 20 ppl. Did I mention our reservation was for 25? How can you confirm a reservation for 25 guests, but set a table for 20? Is it too hard to accept a reservation for 25? The answer is "YES!", it is too hard to take a large reservation. With 5 of our party standing around looking aimlessly around a near empty room, the waiter and head waitress looked at each other trying to figure out where to seat them. They grabbed a "round" cocktail table and put it off to the side and segregated the extra 5 people from the main group. How ridiculous to have our guests sit by themselves; they looked like they were being punished and put at the "kids" table. We finally told the Waiter and Head waitress to add another square table to the long table and accommodate them. Does it really have to be this hard? The answer is "YES!", it does have to be this hard to have enough chairs for 25 ppl. Can you not have planned better? Did I mention that we were assigned 2 servers to serve 25 people? You can feel it in the air that this was not going to be a great experience. FOOD: BREAD baskets were promptly set on the table first. Nice warm, soft, bread.... and nothing else. No butter. No onion. No radish. No mint. No basil. No Walnuts. See where I am going with this? We even had to "ask" for the radish side dish many times before they started bringing them out. To be fair, they did bring them out.... 15 minutes later. Is it too hard to "pre-prep" radish baskets? The answer must be "YES!", it is too hard to bring them out with the bread. DRINKS: the wait staff did not take our drink orders. They told us to go to the bar ourselves and order. REALLY? we have to get up from the table and get our OWN drinks from the bar. Is it too hard for the Servers to take our drink orders? The answer must be "YES!" it is too hard to take drink orders at the table! Main courses - we ordered a family platter of mixed meats; mostly Khoobideh beef, chicken and filet mignon (barg). How many skewers do you think the restaurant cooked per person? I would have assumed each person should get at least 2 skewers of meat at a minimum. How much food was ACTUALLY cooked? About 1/2 skewer per person. NOT 1/2 skewer of each meat, HALF a skewer of meat per person. Let's see... 25 people. Should be 50 skewers of meat at least. They didn't even provide enough roasted tomatoes. We had cut all the tomatoes in 1/2 so everyone had enough. How can you cook only 12 tomatoes for 25 people? Is there a Tomato shortage? Not enough tomatoes in the kitchen? Is it too hard to run to Safeway and purchase more tomatoes for us? The answer is "YES!" it is too hard to have enough tomatoes to cook. RICE: as you know, rice is the main starch of any good Persian meal. Usually, hot white fully rice is plated and served to each person. The rice was hot, the rice was fluffy, but did I mention they RAN OUT of Saffron to pour on top of the rice? Usually, you would pour Saffron to finish off each rice plate. OUR RICE? 6 of us had a "drop" of Saffron the size of Quarter on top of our rice plate. Maybe it was nickel size. Maybe it was dime size. You get the picture. If you STARED at your rice long enough, you can almost "imagine" there was a yellow spot in the middle of our plate. Again, is it too hard to melt butter with Saffron to flavor our rice? The answer must be "YES!" it is too hard for you to make more Saffron for our rice plate. I would normally say this might have been an "off" night, but too many mistakes were made and the combination of bad service AND bad food makes it easy for me to say "YES!", this was a bad meal for sure.

Yelp
Finally went back today. Lightning didn't quite strike twice; 2 of the 3 pieces of brain seemed a little overcooked and overseasoned, but the last and biggest piece was very good and I still enjoyed it throughout. I didn't even get palate fatigue like last time. It has a unique taste and texture, and this is really the only place in San Francisco you can get it. The tongue was perfectly tender as always but the sauce a little thicker today; didn't complement the tongue as well as it did last time. Still pretty good, though. No doubt I'll keep coming back. I ordered iced tea last time and it was very underwhelming. I didn't want alcohol or plain water though so I reluctantly ordered tea again, forgot to say iced so it came out too hot to drink, but after I gave it time to cool - I don't know what they did different but it was really really good today. Never order iced tea here, always order hot and just let it cool. Order 2 or 3 separate glasses at the start so that you don't have to wait for your second or third glass to cool down. I had a great time today and I'm glad I can call this a reliable spot. :)

Yelp
I have been coming here for years, I tried most of the food on the menu, I love their ash soup , I take it without sour cream on top . My best dish is lam shank with green sauce with beans it's delicious , meat falls of the bones. Their rice has really good flavor . From the appetizers I like lamb thong and eggplant dish . I have never been disappointed coming here for the past 20 years . Waiters stuff all of them are wonderful . Thank you guys

Yelp

Yelp
We have visited over 100 restaurants in San Francisco, but this restaurant is by far the most dishonest and unprofessional we've been to. We drove 40 miles to dine here, only to find that they were charging $20 for parking on a public street. When I questioned the fee, one of the staff members pointed to a lengthy sign reading "passenger loading." Which have nothing to do With the fees they charging. Inside, we were watched by two Asian females and the same man who informed us about the parking charge. Their behaviour toward us felt very odd. We ordered our meal and, when it was time to get the bill, we were handed a handwritten receipt with an incorrectly calculated sales tax. Additionally, a $24 service charge was added without any prior notification and was added as a tip to the final receipt without me giving them any tip. We didn't get copy of detailed receipt of what we ordered. It was stabled with the merchant receipt. The parking also only taking cash and doesn't give a receipt to show you paid them for a street parking. He told me to go the corner store to get cash, I told him I can't go there I have kids, he took my card and went inside and added as a tip again. This level of misconduct deserves the attention of the state and Tax Franchise Board. We were really racially profiled. One of the women even mugged my children few times and packed our food and handed it to us in a used plastic bag, while other customers were given new bags and paper bags. This discriminatory behaviour, along with what appears to be illegal practices, is very unacceptable. As a business owner, you are required to use a proper point-of-sale (POS) system that calculates accurate taxes and provides transparency to your customer and give them a detailed receipt for their records. You are also obligated to follow the law, particularly SB-478, the Consumers Legal Remedies Act. To the costumer, while spending hundreds of dollars on a meal, be aware of unethical practices at this Resturant. I recommend exploring other restaurants in San Francisco where you will be treated fairly and charged appropriately.

Yelp
Came here for the first time recently and it was decent. I am always on the look out for a decent persian/middle eastern spot and sometimes skeptical as I've had some top tier persian food over the years! Ive known about Makyadeh for years but never been. Overall this place is OK. We get the bread and mints /butter once we sit. The bread is regular pita bread, super toasted to the point it was hard to eat most of it. Not a fan of the bread. We Ordered the chicken & jujeh koobideh, mast oo khiar, ghormesabzi. Ghormesabzi was not the greatest, super oily. The koobidehs were cooked perfectly. Mast oo khiar was ok, i have had better, its a bit on the heavier side. Rice is cooked good. Portions are large, good for sharing size. i feel like its a hit or miss type place, but this is really the only decent real persian food in the area so i can see why people come here alot. Ambiance is nice, the inside is on the smaller side but feels very home-y which i love. Our waitress seemed nice, no issues there. Love the location of the restaurant, walking distance to china town and north beach area!

Yelp
I never thought Maykadeh would be the best Persian restaurant in the Bay Area, but after trying it again (been 20 years since last time), I must admit it is the best!!! We started with kashke bademjan, which was one of the best I have ever had, followed by chicken koobideh kabob, beef koobideh and lamb chops. They were all juicy and tasty, the basmati rice was perfect. The zereshk polo with chicken was the best I have ever tried. Could eat the rice all night long as it had a perfect chicken flavor in it. We followed the delicious dinner with Persian Bastani and blakhlava. Both delicious and perfect in taste, a must try... You can't go wrong with any of the kabobs, as we tried 3 different ones and they were all full of flavor, fully cooked and yet super juicy. I don't wait another 20 years to come back...

Yelp
It's the most disgusting place, way overrated and over price, food is not good at all.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed our food and the best Persian restaurant Ive gone to. Lamb tongue - the softest one that we've ever tried. Very rich flavor of yogurt Kashke bademjan - I got this instead of the koobideh plate so I can replace rice with this. It was so yummy and goes well with the bread and with any meats. Koobideh - I got a side of Koobideh and it was delicious. Very juicy and one of the best kebabs I had. Overall the food was amazing, but thought it was still pricey

Yelp
I haven't had great Persian food in 30 years since "shamshiri" in Westwood in LA. This place has really nice ambiance, excellent service and delicious authentic food! Wow!!! I can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
We have arrived Saturday 2pm, and they have plenty of room. They do have inside and outside sitting. We chose to sit outside since it was sunny and nice outside. I ordered fillet mignon even though it was pricy ($60). It did not disappoint though. The meat was juicy and yet cooked very well. They bring a plate half of rice and half of grilled veggies, which I loved. I had some leftover which does not happen very often. The chicken skewer was nice, cooked very nice, but it lacked the saffron and lemon flavor which we used to. Instead it had herb dressing, which was unique but quite weird. The Koobideh Skewer was ok, I have had better before. It melts in the mouth very nicely, but seems to not have enough meat. We ordered kashke bademjoon as well. I have no complaints for that one. Very very nice.

Yelp
After trying the Koobideh at Persian Nights (Oakland), a few people told me the best Koobideh and Ghrome Sabzee in SF was at Maykadeh. First things first, parking absolutely sucks, as you all know. We ended up paying $18 (cash only) to valet our car. Having valet meant we didn't have to stress about parking our car too far from us, but I noticed our car had been moved 3 times during our meal (we can hear it when it gets started). It made me anxious not understanding why they kept moving it around. For our meal, my partner and I shared the Chelo-kebab Koobideh and Ghrome Sabzee. The meat was sooo juicy and delicious. I thought Persian Nights made a tasty Koobideh, but Maykadeh's is top tier. The Ghrome Sabzee was not too sour and the meat was super tender. The rice is buttery and fluffy; pairs nicely with the meats. The service was great, quick, and friendly. Overall, the food was delicious, service was spot on, the meal was a little pricey, but excited to return.

Yelp
Great persian food and the owner Sasha really takes care of all the guests. Everything from the moment we sat down was spot on. The bread was hot and delicious and we have never had better baba ghanoush. The mixed grill was just perfect. The chicken was so well seasoned and moist but the lamb chops are the star of the show. Seasoned incredibly well and fantastic preparation. All the little details are also perfect like delicious rice and tea at the end. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Maykadeh, a renowned Persian restaurant known for its authentic flavors, provided me with a delightful dining experience. I was eager to indulge in a variety of traditional dishes. To start, I ordered the pache, an appetizer featuring lamb feet cooked in a fragrant broth infused with cinnamon and turmeric. While the flavors were nicely balanced and enticing, the texture was softer and more tendony than I prefer. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it due to this personal preference. However, for those who enjoy the distinct texture of pache, the flavors offered a delightful experience. Moving on to the lamb tongue, it was truly a standout dish. Cooked to perfection, the lamb tongue was tender and succulent, showcasing the expertise of Maykadeh's chefs. The flavors were rich, leaving me craving more of this delectable delicacy. Next, I had the pleasure of savoring the kashke bademjan, a classic Persian dish combining creamy eggplant with a flavorful blend of herbs and spices. The flavors were harmoniously balanced, and the creamy texture was truly satisfying. Each bite was a burst of taste, a testament to the culinary expertise present in the restaurant's kitchen. For the main course, I opted for the kebab, a beloved Persian dish known for its succulent grilled meat. Maykadeh's kebab did not disappoint. The meat was moist, tender, and expertly seasoned, enhancing the natural flavors. The attention to detail was evident in every bite, making this dish a true standout on the menu. Aside from the culinary experience, I must commend the restaurant for its excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Moreover, the ambience at Maykadeh was comfortable and inviting, creating a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the flavorful Persian cuisine.

Yelp
This used to be a great Persian restaurant. Granted, that was years ago... now, it's an overpriced underseasoned place. I understand prices increase but food quality should NOT decrease. Three visits in a row now (I went due to in-laws love the place) my meals lacked seasoning. The first two were lacking salt. Easily fixed by adding salt but the customer shouldn't have to do this (two different meals). The last visit (lunch on Sunday) the cook finally got the salt right...but the rest of the joojeh seasoning was so bland. So disappointing. My joojeh is far better; theirs used to be far better than mine. Tone down your expectations if you go to Maykadeh. It's nowhere near what it used to be.

Yelp
Yummmm yummmmm yummmmm. This is a favorite of mine and everything is delicious and melts in your mouth. The barg, koobideh, tahdig with gormeh Sandi, choresht gaymeh, kashk o bodamjoon. All of it is so tasty!

Yelp
First, the service was excellent. I was greeted and served by multiple friendly members of the staff. The joojeh kebab was insane. The meat was so tender and seasoned perfectly. I also tried the fab salad and it all the vegetables were fresh. This was my second visit and I was really impressed. (Again). I felt compelled to leave a review after this experience.

Yelp
This is my go to Persian restaurant. Their kabobs are always juicy and grilled to perfection. The eggplant stew is also amazing! Lamb shank as well. My kids will eat the rice without anything.
