27 Thrilling Thai Restaurants in New York City

"If you want to try the food of southern Thailand’s Malay Peninsula, check out MayRee. On a darkened block, the premises is similarly subdued in its lighting scheme, and jars of spirits infused with Thai flavorings line up on a bar at the rear. Roti nam keang, a pair of flaky flatbreads served with a bowl of peanutty chicken curry, is similar to the roti canai found in area’s Malaysian restaurants." - Robert Sietsema

MayRee

"Chef/Owner Orawan Sawangphol tells us a story of southern Thai cooking at Mayree, named for a character from the Thai folktale, Twelve Sisters. The space is cozy and charming, as is the compact menu. Spice levels are far from timid, and all of the dishes, including Isan specialties, showcase great personality. Park mor plates rice crepe dumplings with a sweet chopped peanut filling topped with coconut milk and fried garlic. Kua kling is a dry, southern-style roasted curry made with ground pork that really brings the heat and displays incredible flavors. After a fiery meal, refresh your palate with coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell. Sek Saraboon runs the serious cocktail program, while all of the creative sips are named for Mayree's sisters." - Michelin Inspector

REVIEW: Mitr and MayRee Are Two New Thai Restaurants in NYC - Eater NY

"MayRee opened in mid-September on the same block of First Street as the legendary Prune in the East Village. The owner and chef, Orawan Sawangphol, grew up in Phang Nga, a province on the west side of the Malay Peninsula in Southern Thailand, distinguished by its beaches and rocky islets. The restaurant’s name is in reference to a figure from a folktale called “Twelve Sisters”; she’s one of an ogress’s 12 daughters who’s both sweet and gentle. The menu focuses on the food of the peninsula, in common with Thai Nara, a Woodside restaurant that offers the cuisine of the region’s Muslim minority." - Robert Sietsema

Google
My friend recommended this spot, and I finally got to check it out on a Thursday evening. Walked in without a reservation and got lucky with a table. The ambiance is super cozy and really captures that Thai vibe with all the beautiful decor. Our server was so friendly and helpful, even gave us some great food recommendations, and we ordered them all! We had the chicken soup, fried chicken, shrimp in fish sauce, papaya salad, crab fried rice, and minced pork with basil. Everything was delicious, but my favorites were the papaya salad and crab fried rice. We didn’t get to try the cocktails this time, but I’m definitely coming back for that on my next visit. The location is also perfect, great spot for a full meal before bar hopping in the area. Can’t wait to come back!

Mayree has been featured by the Michelin guide two years in a row, specializing in Southern Thai eats with bold flavors. They feature a fun drink menu, named after the “Twelve Sisters” folktale, along with both classics like pad Thai and curries and specialities like their roast duck or sautéed vermicelli. I was personally most impressed by how tender and juicy their duck came out, paired with a savory soup! I liked the flakiness of the roti as well. The chicken skewers were fine but not overtly impressive. Also liked the flavors of the noodles, but personally prefer larger chunks of crab meat. Everything was beautifully presented! Great for a casual date or if you’re just seeking some Thai eats in the city (located in East Village). Reservation not required.

Google
Mayree is a must-visit! This cozy, rustic spot serves up incredible Thai dishes. We loved the Lychee Thai Iced Tea, Murrakot, Roti Murtaba, and the Park Mor - Pillowy soft peanut dumplings. The Kaeng Phed Ped (roast duck curry) was the absolute highlight—rich, flavorful, and unforgettable. We also enjoyed the Pad Mee Kati (Crab meat noodles) and Mango Sticky Rice. Highly recommend, especially for that duck curry!

The food here is absolutely delicious! I especially loved the Pad Krapow and Som Tum — both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The cocktails were also a great match with the dishes, enhancing the overall dining experience. Highly recommended!

This East Village gem serves up some of the best Southern Thai food I’ve ever had! Every dish is made with so much care, and the flavors are absolutely incredible. The cocktails are just as impressive, with a great selection and fun seasonal specials. If you’re looking for truly authentic Thai cuisine, this is the place to go. Highly recommend! 🌺

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The food is absolutely delicious! We ordered Kra Praw (ground pork/chicken with rice) and Kai Pad Puu (crab meat fried rice). Both dishes were packed with flavor—the spice level was just right, and the crab meat fried rice had a buttery richness that made it extra tasty. 100% recommended! The service was also wonderful—our waitress was so kind and attentive, checking in to make sure everything was perfect. Overall, an amazing dining experience.

Google
A gem for Thai food in East Village! I was here just in time for happy hour, and the margarita was good! The food was delicious as well. We started with the Goong Chae Nam Pla (Thai-style spicy prawn sashimi) as the appetizer. It was quite unique, but I wasn’t a fan of the bitterness from the bitter melon—it didn’t quite complement the rest of the flavors. For mains, we had the Kra Prow and the Kaeng Phed Ped (roasted duck curry). Both were flavorful and well-prepared—the duck curry, in particular, had a rich and aromatic sauce that paired beautifully with rice. Overall, a fantastic spot with great food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere (probably good for first date as well). I’ll definitely be back!

Google
My dining experience at MayRee Thai Restaurant was truly exceptional. The atmosphere inside was absolutely wonderful. The food was a culinary delight, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and expertly prepared dishes. The Pad Mee Kati, Pad Pong Karee Talay were outstanding. Their cocktail menu is also impressive, with a huge variety and fun seasonal offerings. as well as a stunning presentation of fried ice cream dessert. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I found the coziest Thai Restaurant in East Village When it's cold.. I tend to opt for hot and hearty meals and that's exactly what @mayreenyc has given me. I went on a snow day and it was exactly what I needed to warm me up before braving the cold once more. This intimate spot provides delicious Thai food, tasty cocktails and amazing service. The staff was friendly and everything came out hot and fresh. My friend had the pineapple fried rice while I opted for soup which came in a huge dish that was perfect for sharing. If you're in the area you definitely have to stop by... Yelp
Came here with a party of 10 for a friend's birthday and was disappointed how tightly packed they had us all sitting together. Granted this restaurant is small but ideally, I wouldn't recommend this place especially if your planning to dine with 4 plus people. If anything, this restaurant should have rejected the reservation considering the number of people it was booked for. As for the restaurant, it was super dim. It created a dark ambiance but so dark that it was kinda hard to see my food properly and to know exactly what I was eating. I ended up ordering their lump crab coconut curry over vermicelli. When the order arrived, it was a complete disappointing. My dish was overly salted that it over powered all of the other natural flavor of the curry. The curry itself was watery too instead of having a creamy consistency. They only gave a small portion of vermicelli and the side salad was pretty much cut up cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts. The side salad reminded me of those cheap mesclun salad that I would see restaurants using as a filler for dishes to make it look more like a full meal. Overall I was disappointed with my dish and and dining experience. It left me feeling uninspired to return to the restaurant to try their other dishes or to even recommend this place to other people.

Yelp
The chicken wings were ridiculous. Wish this place was more accessible to me because I'd order them all the time. Duck curry was flavorful and a good balance of spicy and sweet. The crab fried rice and spring rolls were also delicious. Shame the bar seating wasn't the most comfortable, but my experience overall was a good one. Thanks for the food!

Yelp
The staffs were friendly. I ordered Pad Thai For Khai. The noodles were covered in an omelette and had five shrimps inside. Noodles are very flavorful. I noticed most of the items are spicy since it is a Thai restaurant. Food is delicious and the place is nicely decorated. Would recommend coming here! Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

Yelp
Dive into the vibrant flavors of Southern Thailand right in the heart of the East Village! MayRee! This cozy and charming spot is my latest culinary gem, serving up authentic dishes that transport your taste buds to the streets of Thailand. My absolute favorites? The Branzino Pla Lui Suan--a perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and savory--and the sautéed vermicelli Pad Mee Kati, which is so flavorful with the lump crab meat. Trust me, this is a must-visit for any Thai food lover! We ordered -Tom yum Goong soup -Yum Hua Plee salad -Pla Loui Suan Branzino -Pad mee Kati- sautéed vermicelli -Malai -Kesaorn -Mango sticky rice Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!

Yelp
Oh yeah. This is a great place to enjoy lunch. There were 6 of us and we chose to dine in. It was one of those incredibly hot days that we had in early August and just coming inside to some air conditioning felt good. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's situated on a small street just north of Houston. The street is quiet and the ambience both for inside and outside dining is really comfortable. This Thai restaurant serves food that is more interesting than most. We started with Edamame that was somewhat spicy. So good. We also had the Spring Rolls, they were delicious. Between the 6 of us we had a bunch of dishes, the stand out ones for me were Grilled Shrimp Mango, Curry Noodle and Kee Mao Talay. For dessert we enjoyed the the Mango Sticky rice. This was devoured in absolutely no time at all. The prices are totally reasonable, the service was wonderful and we completed our meal very satisfied and in a really good mood. Go for it!

Yelp
Cute little Thai spot, hidden away on a side street. The street itself feels more residential, I definitely did not expect to see a restaurant here. But the upside of that is the restaurant wasn't too crowded or loud! It is a relatively smaller space though, more suitable for smaller parties of 2 or 4. I got the Kaeng Phed Ped (duck curry) and it was quite delicious! The duck was actually very crispy and tender and didn't feel oily. The curry itself was also good, salty and just a little bit spicy. There were also a lot of fresh veggies (bell peppers) and fruits (lychee + pineapple) that cut through the saltiness that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back. Not giving it a 5 though because I feel like most Thai places in New York are quite good, and even though this place was also solid it didn't particularly stand out to me as exceptional.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here and I got the green curry with chicken and my roommate got the pad kee mao. We weren't ready for the spiciness levels at all! We definitely got used to it and agreed we'd try it again. I do wish that there were more chicken/veggies included with my curry as I got through them way too quickly and then there was so much curry sauce left over!

Yelp
Chill spot on the les. We went w a reservation on a sunday which i rec as it started filling up. None of the food was bad i just wasnt rlly crazy abt anything. The roti nam keaum was nice but just a tad too sweet and i wish the tofu was either fried or baked or something and just not put plain in the curry. Roti however was delish I'm a deep somtum lover but the one here was just okay - a little bit too fishy imo
google avatar

Pinhwa S.

Yelp
MayRee is a gem for authentic Thai cuisine with a modern twist. We started with crispy Hed Tod mushrooms with sweet chili sauce and the Somtum papaya salad, both bursting with fresh flavors. For mains, the Pad Thai Hor Khai, wrapped in a delicate omelet, and the rich Kaeng Phed Ped duck curry were exceptional. The cocktails were a highlight, especially the Morrakot, with sake, vodka-infused lemongrass, and coconut milk, and the indulgent Thai Tea Tikki Coco, topped with coconut flakes and edible gold leaf. Celebrating Pride Month, the 'Proud to be Pride' cocktail--a blend of gin, elderflower, and prosecco is def a must! With top-notch ambiance, service, and unforgettable dishes, MayRee is a must-visit.

Yelp
This has been added to my NYC hit list. Not a single drop of curry was left--we came, we devoured, we left. Everything is just done excellently and I shall be returning again.
google avatar

Jin Hao Y.

Yelp
The staff members of the restaurant were nice but just a tad slow as we would wait over 10 minutes before someone came by. It is a nice little spot located next to the park with most people coming in with a date. The food was good. I one of the seasonal curry dishes that didn't list as spicy but was of course spicy given it was a red curry dish. Overall the food was good and the experience was positive.
google avatar

Katelyn N.

Yelp
Pretty good. Great ambiance, food was pretty decent. Drink was whatever, probably would come back but not for drinks. Pretty basic. Nothing that stands apart but still tasty. Don't know if i would recommend bc it's just so standard. Can find cheaper spots for same value.

Yelp
Mayree, is the Thai restaurant located in the heart of New York's East Village, offers an exceptional journey into the rich flavors of delicious southern Thai cuisine. Named after a character from a beloved Thai angel folktale, this cozy restaurant delights diners with its authentic dishes, lovely warm atmosphere, and dedication to providing an unforgettable dining experience. I really recommend Hed Tod, Yum Hao Plee, Pad Mee Kati and , Jor Rang curry. It's the best delicious and good quality. The service is very friendly and welcoming. Believe me!! Mayree's menu showcases the very best of Thailand's culinary traditions. Let's Visit Mayree at 58 East 1st New York

Bing-Hsun W.

Yelp
MayRee overcharges and underdelivers. It calculates tips after tax with default options above 20%, yet the service was minimal. Dishes are overpriced, portions small, and seating cramped with uncomfortable high chairs. The krapow was overly salty, loaded with fish sauce, and lacked authentic Thai long rice. The roti curry had good flavor, but the potatoes were undercooked. Overall, it's not worth the hype or price--best to avoid.
google avatar

Chen H.

Yelp
Many recommended MayRee so we had to give it a try! Reservation is recommended as this is a quite popular place, we saw many people waiting in line while we were dining there. Thanks to reviews from Yelp and recommendation from our waiter, we picked three most popular dishes. The fried mushroom was quite crispy and chewy; fun to snack on. For the main courses, I especially liked the duck curry, because of its tender duck meat, mixing of tropical fruits (pineapple, lychee, etc), and the flavorful curry sauce! I feel this place can serve different ambiance, romantic, friends and family, all of it. A small note, wish the service was a bit faster though. But I guess it might be due to the high volume of diners, and the fact that all dishes are freshly made.
google avatar

Cam S.

Yelp
Had somtum as a starter, then the pork kua kling and pork kra praw. Spicy, no doubt. But all the fresh flavors from the basil and the spices come together so well. Straight up these all rocked the tastebuds like you wouldn't believe. Generally these Michelin recs are hit or miss. Definitely a hit. Hype is certainly warranted.
google avatar

Cyrus A.

Yelp
MayRee was a cute little restaurant for elevated Thai food. The food itself was good. We had a roti dish to start, as well as a green curry and (*gasp*) pad thai for mains. Each dish was tasty, and I think there are even more interesting, unique items to try on the menu. My biggest regret was not getting more adventurous with my table's order. Don't expect neighborhood Thai restaurant prices, however - it's a little more expensive here, around $30 per entree, give or take. Service was excellent, but I do wish they'd fix the door situation - it stays open when guests leave, and in these colder months the whole restaurant loses temperature very fast because it's not that big of a room. Quite a chilly dining experience! MayRee is a good choice for 1:1 meals, worth a visit for a different Thai food experience!

Yelp
(Overall: D) - This thai restaurant is located in east village, which comes with the flaws of the cleanliness. Unfortunately, a mosquito was present during my short visit and managed to bite me several times which added to the discomfort of the experience. I found the service to be nice, although a bit inattentive and the food/drinks to have hits and misses. (Tiki Tiki: A) - This drink is presented well -- it gives lily pad on an island vibes, when it was a kaffir lime leaf and lemon grass. I found this drink to be a very pleasant fruit juice; would recommend. (Pad Thai: C) - I ordered this Pad Thai mostly for the presentation, which was indeed quite interesting -- it would've been more practical is there was not a stick in the middle as I'm not sure if that's expected to be eaten or for the customer to grow a new plant. As for the actual contents, I love the forward flavor of the Pad Thai where you get the acidity, saline, and sweetness all hit your taste buds at once. Unfortunately though, the flavors were undermined by the textures as the shrimp was overcooked and the noodle was undersoaked. -- Food: -1 Presentation: +1 Price: E Atmosphere: -1 Service: E Menu: E Overall: -1 D IG: @amei.eats

Yelp
Tried this place on a whim. Loved the roast duck curry. Flavorful, affordable and solid Thai food with friendly service. Would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
This small but mighty southern Thai restaurant adds flavor to the East Village. The service at MayRee was extremely attentive and the items ordered were prepared quickly. The table ordered the following: Bacon Hor Nam (GF) Somtum (GF) Sweet and spicy fried fish (Branzino) Pad Thai Hor Khai My favorite dish was the sweet & spicy fried fish. The fish was fresh, thick, well seasoned, crispy, and HOT (right from the fryer). If you're a meat lover the Bacon Hor Nam might be something you enjoy. I wish the bacon was a bit crispier. The table decided on red & white wine, and we tried the Thai moonshine (strong!). I'm interested in trying more items from the menu. The restaurant itself has rich & cozy decor. A lot of thought went into the silverware, glasses, wall art, the bar area, and more. Mayree does not accept reservations and is a small space so I would advise visiting during off peak hours. I look forward to going back again. *MICHELIN star*

Yelp
pricey place but i'd say you do get what you pay for. I got the duck curry (SO YUMMMYYYYY and huge portion) and i still dream about it. with a shared appetizer between two, a drink, and a main course, it came to ~$65pp. the service was super comfortable and friendly although they were really busy. I couldn't find where to make a res online so I called and that was easy enough. the raw spicy prawns were not joking about the spice. me trying to flex by eating all the red peppers did not end well. owwww drinks were okay. we saw someone get fire in their drink so we ordered it too. taste was meh but presentation and experience 10/10!!!
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Small space centered around exposed brick and small wood tables. Haven't tried much besides green curry with chicken which was pretty good. While creamy I didn't love the sweetness. Was a touch too much sugar. Also, was expecting Thai green eggplant which was subbed for purple one. While the price of lunch vs dinner was marginal (17 vs 21) I was told the dish was smaller for lunch? Can't imagine how much smaller ..
google avatar

Casey W.

Yelp
- really loved the ambiance here - personable staff - music was such a mood - intimate - creative menu both for cocktails and food - will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu

Yelp
So good and nice atmosphere. The cocktails are great . The service are great too. Also it's stylish place with nice cocktail .

Chris C.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about this place. Interior was cute and staff were nice and friendly. The entrees were absolutely delicious, I got the crab fried rice and the spicy basil pork. Both were great dishes. The only downside was the appetizer. Got the Thai sausages and it just fell short, they were super dry.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here with my group of 4 on a Thursday night with a reservation but there was no need b/c all the tables were available. Great, speedy service but the food was pretty interesting. I don't think I had this kind of Thai food before so make sure to read the descriptions! My dish (in the photo) looked plain, but had kicks of spices. But the spice taste really gets to you with each bite, and it kind of gets hard to eat. Not because it's spicy, but it's just A LOT to take in. A bit salty too? Great drinks though!
google avatar

YingLinn C.

Yelp
Found a small Thai restaurant in East Village. It only fit around 10 tables, so if you come in a larger group be sure to make reservations or to call ahead. Service was quick and attentive, the server was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious! We ordered the fried chicken wings with sweet chili sauce and that is definitely a must get! So crispy and juicy! We also ordered the turmeric fried rice and the sautéed vermicelli and it was pretty good. Only thing was that the food was very spicy so I didn't sit well in my stomach that night.
google avatar

Tina X.

Yelp
First time here and I had a great experience. Highly recommend the summer special Stir Fried Bitter Beans, the beans are not very bitter and have a special flavor which goes so well with the ground pork. Pad Mee Kati has a lot of crab in it, really worth the price. I will return

Kate Y.

Yelp
Be careful if you have food allergies. I visited on Tuesday evening and there was one thing that really threw me off. I ordered tom yum soup and asked for no cilantro but my food came with cilantro sprinkled on top. So I asked my server before touching it, and she said "that's scallion" without even trying to look closer. It really looked like cilantro to me, but I tried it anyways and yes it was cilantro. I just really really hate cilantro to the extent I literally can't enjoy anything with it, but thankfully I am not allergic. But this is really dangerous if for example, somebody has nuts allergy and asked for no peanuts and the server didn't care to double check with the kitchen. So if you have any food allergy, be careful with this place. Also heads-up their tip is calculated AFTER tax, so you'd really be paying like 25% minimum if you don't do custom tip.

Yelp
Short review: Very good Southern Thai. Would recommend the Kua Kling/southern dry curry the most along with the Yum Hua Plee/banana blossom salad but everything was good. Perhaps would get duck elsewhere. Good cocktail selection. A bit drafty in front. I went to this newcomer Thai spot a while back (overdue review) with one of my usual groups after he had found glowing reviews and I agree with most of them. As someone who usually prefers northern Thai food, the southern stuff here is excellent. We had a mix of dishes. They have a mix of unique cocktails and I went with the Saowarat with whiskey, green tea syrup, honey syrup, lemon juice, and pineapple juice. Very nice cocktail which was strong but had a good balance from the rest of the ingredients. The rest who had drinks loved their cocktails as well. Our first dish that arrived was the Puek Tod for $13 which consisted of Taro cakes with radish, coconut, and peanut topped with fried garlic and served with house made sweet chili sauce. Nice texture for the taro cakes. Not overly fried and satisfying. Soon arriving was one of the best dishes of the night, the Yum Hua Plee for $16. This was a banana blossom salad with shrimp, ground pork, coconut milk, lime juice, fish sauce and roasted chili paste topped with fried green onion and mint. Similar to a laarb in terms of the toppings but I preferred the texture heavily from the banana blossoms. Very good stuff. The Kua (or Khua) Kling consisting of a southern style roasted curry with ground pork, kaffir lime leaf and Thai chili served with jasmine rice and fried egg for $19 was my favorite of the main dishes and this might have been the best version I have had. Terrifically spiced with a perfect amount of kaffir lime to balance out the heavy heat. Would recommend heavily. Also good was the Roti Nam Kean for $21 consisting of southern Thai style pan fried roti with massaman curry made with potato, white onion, peanut, coconut milk topped with fried shallot. We got it with chicken and it was great. The massaman wasn't as overly sweet as other spots which is quite a good thing. I would only complain that I think there should have been more of the roti. The Kra Prow (or Phat kaphrao) for $19 consisting of ground pork or ground chicken sautéed with basil, fresh chili pepper, garlic and onion in spicy basil sauce, served with jasmine fried rice and fried egg was quite good. We got ground pork and it was very nicely spiced with a good amount of basil. The fried egg had a better texture than most Thai spots and mixed in well with the rest of the ingredients. Our other main was the Kaeng Phed Ped for $27 which was a roast duck curry with pineapple, tomato, chili paste and coconut milk, served with jasmine rice. This was more on the sweet end with the pineapple almost reminding me of jackfruit which how sweet it was. Solid dish though I have preferred the duck at other Thai spots and it was probably the weakest of the dishes. Consistent excellent Thai dishes. Would prefer larger portions overall but the flavors are outstanding. My only complaint otherwise is that the front was very drafty. Mid 4.

Yelp
This review is way overdue, but is definitely needed because it doesn't seem like people are aware of just how GOOD the food is here! My partner and I visited the second or third day they opened, and honestly, we weren't expecting much. We previewed the online menu beforehand and the menu did seem interesting (and most importantly, different from the everyday Thai restaurants in NYC) so we ultimately decided to give it a go. And I'm so glad we did! We ordered two appetizers and two mains, which doesn't seem like too much for two people who eat a LOT. The appetizers we ordered were the papaya salad (somtum) and deep-fried shimeji mushrooms (hed tod). A word of caution, though, do not order the papaya salad if you canNOT handle the heat because this is authentically spiced! I was eating away at it because it was seasoned very nicely (and I still didn't come across a chili yet) and laughed at my partner because he turned steaming red from eating one. Minutes later, I ended up having a piece myself and it was NOT fun. But it was very delicious, still. The shimeji mushrooms I enjoyed a lot. My partner isn't crazy about fried foods, but even he gave it an approving nod. For mains we ordered the Pad Mee Kati and the Kao Mok Gai. Hands DOWN, our favorite was the Pad Mee Kati. We've just never had anything like it before and it blew our minds. The vermicelli noodles were SOAKED with coconut milk and gave it a deliciously ~moist~ and nutty taste. I'm drooling just thinking about it now. And the LUMPS of crab meat were fantastic. Many restaurants skimp on the amount of crab meat in their dishes, but Mayree does not shy away from it. The Kao Mok Gai was also tasty in its own way. The chicken was tender and juicy and the rice was extremely fragrant! We didn't get to try their brunch menu yet, but we're sure it would also be delicious! Can't wait to try their other dishes.
google avatar

Tanya H.

Yelp
Mayree is pretty good! The food was solid, although maybe a bit overpriced for what it was (not the most basic, but also not original enough). Same goes for the drinks. But a lively enough atmosphere to hang out with friends and still hear what they're saying.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall delicious - I wish I had tried a cocktail! We were the first guests at 7:00 on a Thursday but the restaurant started filling up soon after. We started with the deep fried mushroom appetizer which was just okay, it was enoki mushroom in batter and fried with a pretty generic sweet sauce. We actually didn't finish this because it started to just taste like fried batter. The crab fried rice and duck curry were 10/10! The chunks of crab was a super decent portion and I preferred this out of the two. The duck curry had a good amount of sliced duck and curry was creamy and delicious, not to coconutty. I would've got more rice to eat it with if I wasn't already kinda full from the crab fried rice. We also got a beer and wine, and the total came to about $100 for 2 people, not bad. I'll try a cocktail next time.

Yelp
Love this place to death, a wonderful atmosphere, and an ambiance . My favorite people are Boss and GiGi besides them, their food is delicious no matter what you order is on point .

Yelp
Soooo good and sooooo yummy, some of the best Thai food I've had in a while. Everything we ate was sooooo good I can't stop raving about it. But be warned it is a little spicy, but don't worry the Thai ice tea will help smooth that over reallll good

Yelp
Today I decided to stop by here since I needed some place with outdoor dining, this place was on my to try list since it opened not long ago. I ordered Khao Man Gai and Papaya Salad. Kao man gai- chicken was tender and juicy, the rice could use more ginger flavor, did not taste much. But the chicken was good. Papaya salad- sweet, fresh, tasty, very good heat. Definitely the winner. Service: the service is very good. She even gave water to my dog which i thought was a nice gesture. Overall: Between the service and the food, this place is definitely a place to watch. I will be back again if in the area.

Yelp
I'm sad that I don't live here, because I would be here ALL the time. MayRee has everything! Amazing service, outstanding food, perfectly balanced cocktails and a very relaxed and comfortable vibe. Gigi ( sorry if I spelled that wrong) was the best part of our evening, thank you for taking such wonderful care of us. We ordered a few items to share and every dish was better then the last. So fresh and delicious, definitely made with love. If you cannot handle spicy at all they can tone it down but for us it was just right. Perfect balance between flavorful and spice, I would not change a thing. This will be my first stop whenever I am in town. It's a must try!

Yelp
Outstanding Thai ! In fact , I'll go as far as the best sit down Thai restaurant I've been to in NYC so far. It's a beautifully decorated place with outside seating. It's good for any occasion. Music was cool and the perfect level. Full bar ! And a nice bar area to boot. Check out the drink menu! I got 2 drinks and both were good. The menu is different from most Thai places I've been to. The ubiquitous chicken satay is missing from Mayree's as well as the pick your curry and protein option. Instead , they seem to have a curated menu based on what they cook best. And you'll love it all I bet. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to truly enjoy their meals. I got the chicken soup. Don't let that price of 15-16 dollars scare you away. This is one big bowl that's jammed packed with veggies and chicken ! Oh and the taste , Devine. Sour and vegetal from the lemongrass and slight spice from the ginger all cooked in a tasty and potent chicken stock. I had to get my peanut fix in the description of the peanut dumplings sounded great. Wow! Try these. The filling is sticky peanuts mashed and the coconut milk and fried garlic complimented it so well. Gigi the owner I believe is so sweet. So was my server.

Yelp
Solid Thai food. The Kra Prow had an exquisite wok hei with perfect balance of char and aromatic intensity. Would come back to try more dishes.

Yelp
Overall - food is pretty great. They took traditional Thai dishes and made it slightly more nuanced (not necessarily fusion nor Americanized, not sure how to describe it). Loved the tempura mushroom and fried chicken. The skin was perfectly crispy and flavored. Drinks were slightly more pricey (Thai iced tea for $5, mocktails for $8, cocktails for $18++). Service was pretty good, only annoying thing is the tables are slightly slim so it's hard to have big groups and share plates. Would return again!

Yelp
Amazing Thai place that Yelp led us to during a recent visit to the Lower East Side! Food flavors were absolutely delicious; particularly memorable dishes included some sort of fried mushroom appetizer and a chicken curry dish of sorts with roti. They also had a wide variety of really creative and delicious cocktails and a cute outdoor seating area. Would definitely recommend for delicious Thai food in this area.

Yelp
Really good food. A solid Thai option in the area. Super cute interior good for a nicer dinner but also great for a casual lunch/stop in and not too expensive.

Yelp
I enjoyed my time here. It is a very intimate restaurant - approximately 6 tables or 25-30 seats in total. Clearly the door is very central to the space so can get drafty if seated by door. They do their best to keep it out with a thick curtain which is thoughtful. It's definitely a step up from the usual takeout Thai spot as the options are more eccentric. I loved reading about the chef and the genesis of the restraints name on the website. The chef comes from a three-generation family of restauranteurs which is fascinating. The dishes are well-made and tasty. The roti was the favorite tonight! It's warm, crispy, and starchy, making it the perfect base to soak up the creamy curry. The curry was a bit salty at first taste but mellowed out over time. Only two roti unfortunately - one too few to finish the curry but you can order a side of one for $4. We had the fried chicken entree (gai tod), fried mushrooms (hed tod) and the banana blossom salad (recommended by our server). All three were enjoyable. I think the first two are very "safe" options haha it's fried food and straightforward - can't really go wrong! The salad was more of a unique regional dish with fish sauce, coconut milk etc. It was good but a bit heavy as a salad for me. All in all, I really enjoyed the meal. Two appetizers and two entrees, no drinks totaled to about $95 incl tax and tip.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and got warm friendly service from Gigi . I Was torn ordering and almost played it safe with the madman curry and roti but ventured out with the red duck curry and it was amazing.. spicy and flavorful, the pineapple really complimented the flavors. The gin cucumber cocktail was a delightful compliment to the dish.

Yelp
The place is very small but it wasn't too busy. The menu was hard to navigate. Wishing they had better description. Lots of things on menu I've never seen. Overall like the dishes but wouldn't say I was blown away

Yelp
Very good Thai food! I got the Prysob cocktail and it was very delicious with a bit of fancy gold leaf. I also tried the Tom Yum soup and the Roti Nam Keang and they were very flavorful with great depth of flavor. Highly recommend trying this place out!
