The Best Dive Bars in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Minneapolis-born Polish pro wrestler Stan Mayslack and his wife Ann “Butch” Mayslack opened Mayslack’s in 1955. While Stan whipped up garlic roast beef sandwiches in the kitchen, Butch ran the till. The pair hosted many a rowdy polka night. These days, Mayslack’s hosts plenty of live bands (and plays polka on the jukebox) and is still serving its famous slow-roasted beef sandwiches, heaped with banana peppers and onions and served au jus." - Justine Jones

Where to Find a Good Cheesesteak in the Twin Cities | Eater Twin Cities

"Northeast’s live music institution offers an unorthodox, but tasty, Philly using its own in-house shaved roast beef, peppers, onions, and melted cheese on a hoagie bun. Mayslack’s also offers several side options like fries, tots, onion rings, or cole slaw." - Ali Elabbady

The legendary classic roast beef sandwich was piled high with delicately sliced garlic seasoned roast beef, sliced pickled banana peppers and thinly sliced raw onions on a soft rye bun with a side on creamy yummy coleslaw and au jus dipping sauce. The spicy Italian beef was loaded with Giardiniera. Yum! The steak fries were overcooked, crispy. You easily get 2 meals out of a sandwich for leftovers. Lots of food reasonably priced at $18. If you love good food, good service and a dive bar vibe, you will love this NE bar and grill.

Came in for drinks, pull tabs and darts. Had a blast. Tons of bar seating, 2 sides with booths and high top tables plus the back patio. There’s a stage idk if they do shows but it seemed like it! Our server was awesome, separate tabs and checked in the perfect amount. We didn’t eat but the beer was cold and the shots came out fast!

I grew up in Northeast Minneapolis, but never had a Mayslacks sandwich. I’ve been gone for about 30 years, but I always wanted one. My mom moved nearby there today, so I finally had the opportunity. We each had French dip sandwiches with tater tots. The sandwich is probably the best dip sandwich I’ve ever had, and the tater tots were incredible. I have a huge appetite, but I was full after this. My mom eats like a bird, but she finished her entire sandwich and half of her tots. I will definitely be coming here every time I come back to visit my mom. The lady who took my order was extremely friendly. My order was done in 15 minutes. The server/bartenders in the restaurant were very very friendly

We went here on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty quiet but there were a few people at very the Bar. It got busier about an hour later around 1pm. This is a classic dive bar. It is full of interesting posters, signs and photos. I really like this place and I plan to come back one evening to chill have some drinks, listen to I music and just enjoy the atmosphere. This place has its own character and the service n is pretty good. Those who know Mayslacks love this place.

One of my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. This beef recipe has no equal. Great portions fantastic flavor. My favorite is the club special but the original roast beef cannot be overrated. They have a cook now that is really hitting his groove. Bloody Mary is great too!

Mayslack’s did not disappoint! When Jess was bringing “The Original”, I thought she was bringing another customer a stacked salad, nope, it was my STACKED ROAST BEEF SANDWICH. Jess took great care of. The fries were terrific. The wings were excellent. The ambience is perfect! We must return!

Don’t wear old navy flip flops here, they will break. This place is held together with stickers and glue sticks, but the food is the best food you’ll find in the cities. Whoever is in the kitchen is whipping up insane magic. I’m lactose intolerant and i suffer for their nachos because it’s worth it. Probably pee before going there, the bathrooms are 0/10.
