McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks

Food and service was outstanding. The seafood was a highlight of our night. The waitress Stephanie was tentative but not overbearing and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. Felt like she went above and beyond to help ensure the best experience. The atmosphere felt pretty standard. Unfortunately the great location but not much for views outside of the restaurant etc. The inside atmosphere was a classic chain steak restaurant. Which is expected but didn't feel unique or special.

Went to happy hour here, it was pretty good food, service was a bit on the slower side. I do say you do get a lot of food for the happy hour prices. Which makes it incredible and a place to go for a GREAT happy hour!

I was greeted quickly and with a smile immediately upon walking in. I was seated immediately. I had a few seating options available and chose to sit in the bar area. In the bar area, there are food options that aren't available for the dine-in area. The staff were extremely pleasant and helped me get seated. My server (Kaleigh) came over quickly afterward and offered several drink selections to get me started for happy hour. She made several selections and was very helpful. I ordered the lobster bisque, calamari, bone-in ribeye with truffle mac & cheese. The lobster bisque was flavorful with texture and delicious. The calamari was lightly breaded and Very tasty. I'm a mac & cheese fanatic, I feel it could have been more cheesy & less creamy. The ribeye was Perfect. Juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. Kaleigh (Kay-lee) was my server and she was Fabulous.

The location of the restaurant is so convenient for people in the downtown area! Right on the river and perfect for those who plan to do the river walk or go on a river tour. The atmosphere was upscale and classy, wait staff was well dress and the restaurant emulated an aire of sophistication. The food was good, I had the sea bass with lobster on top; the bass was lovely and the vegetables were cooked to the perfect texture.. However my partner ordered the salmon gnocchi and that was less that adequate. The salmon was over cook, and when this was brought to the waiter's attention he denied it and was very condensending that we did not know how fish was supposed to be cooked*. Upon seeing the over cooked salmon he then insisted that the cook made it that way on purpose. We asked for the manager and they quickly agreed the salmon was overcooked and immediately ordered a new dish for my partner. We were very displeased with the service from our waiter- notably his inattentive manner and his demeaning attitude. While we were not in any rush, our waiter was very slow with monitoring drink levels and checking in. *Here is where I share that my partner and I are in our late 20s and our waiter was likely in his mid 60s. It is unkind to make assumptions so I will simply present the situation with minimal bias from my end so others can make their own judgements. Additional this was just one waiter on one day; I'm sure there are other kind and attentive waiter's at this restaurant. Overall the food was delicious (once the properly cooked salmon was served) and there were several other options I would like to try on the menu. It was a nice atmosphere, mildly soured by our service, however I would not rule this place our for a seafood option in downtown Chicago.

Jonathan was a great server, knowledgeable, and even helped us navigate the city map to get us pointed in the right direction heading out. Aged ribeye was seasoned well, cooked perfectly. The broccolini was the side to choose, awesome. We also had the blackened redfish, which was flaky and clean, covered with delectible crab meat covered in lemon butter. The prayer selection also was nice to try. Recommended!

I enjoy coming here for happy hour. They have food and drink items for happy hour which is always a plus. The food is good and consistent. The service is not consistent, sometimes it’s efficient and servers are friendly. And then other times they are not. The ambiance is okay but could be better.

Our family had dinner here before going to see Hamilton and everything was top notch. Food was amazing, service was great and the setting was perfect. Not listed under food choices is filet mignon (strange for a steakhouse) but it was cooked perfectly (for medium rare).

We loved the place, the food and our waitress Lenea was awesome. She even asked the bartender to make me a drink from my hometown that they had never heard about.

Honestly this was just below 5 stars. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. We were accidentally in the city much earlier than initially planned so we decided to see if we could get a last minute reservation somewhere at a sooner time. We were a little worried due to the fact that they had many available reservations but we were hungry and in the mood for fish so we went with it. I was again a little concerned when we arrived and the place was pretty empty. We sat and got a tour of the menu from our server, Jeff and started with a few cocktails, some oysters, and the tuna app. The cocktails while very good were a little mundane. The apps were very good so we decided to go for some more of our server's recommendations. I opted for a very nicely done salad, and the sea bass. The hubby went for halibut stuffed with crab, the lobster bisque, and dessert, a special that was going on this month. My salad was a very solid salad. Not overdressed and with very crisp greens. The hubs felt his soup could have had more of a seafood flavor but he was happy. My sea bass was wonderfully cooked, I could have maybe used a slightly thicker sauce but that would be really nitpicking. The hubs loved his fish but felt it was a little under seasoned and that his vegetables were a little al dente. Nothing major. The desserts, the brown butter cake and the apple pie were both very delicious, but the bite of the night went to the apple pie with the cinnamon ice cream. It was up there with some of the best desserts I have had in Chicago. Seriously I would come here just for that dessert. Jeff was fantastic and we even got to meet their executive chef! It was a really fun night and a pleasant experience. Apparently their chef is new, and I have to say he is doing a great job with the new menu. The menu has been updated, and everything we tasted was high quality and delicious. Even if you've visited before, with these changes it is definitely worth another stop.

Food: The food was just okay! I ordered the mussels which were good but nothing special nor not that flavorful. The portions were a good size though! 2/5 Service: it pains me to say this, but the service was not that good. We came by (party of five) around 7. When we came in, they said we will be seated in fifteen minutes, but to get a drink at the bar as we wait. The bartender was attentive, but after 30-35 minutes, we were getting concern that we still weren't seated. The restaurant wasn't that packed; maybe seven other tables that were around the same party size of us. It wasn't until we said something, we were then seated. Even then, the service wasn't better. There were times we were looking for our server to order or get assistance. Maybe it was a staffing issue that day. 2/5 Ambiance: the decorations inside were definitely dated. It reminded me a Cheesecake Factory, but food prices were higher. The music was so quiet too! I don't like super loud music, but the music was so low we could hear everything! We did ask for them to turn the music just a little so there is some background noise. 3/5 Overall: 7/15

I enjoyed the food and all of the dishes I had were perfectly cooked. I ordered the crab cake as an appetizer and the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon as the entree. Loved the crab cake because it was more crab than breading which was great! Previously had the shrimp & scallop alfredo and it was okay.

My overall experience is 5/5. I would come back again. My family and I stopped in for an early dinner (4:30pm). The restaurant was not crowded yet which was our hope since we have 2 small kids. Our server, Jeff, was wonderful from start to finish 5/5. He just happened to be at the host stand when we arrived and led us to our seats too. He provided recommendations and we enjoyed our meal. Around the table we had the regular calamari 3/5, oysters 5/5, salads 5/5, the stuff salmon 5/5, Atlantic salmon 5/5, the lamb shank 4/5, creme brûlée 5/5, and cheesecake 5/5. The drinks were also good, we had a strawberry lemon drop 5/5, the perfect margarita 5/5, and the smoke and spice 4/5.

I was able to make a reservation right away for 3:45pm. When we got there we were seated right away. The waiter was kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was good. We ordered the shrimp kisses first and they were delicious. I had a lobster tail and mash potatoes with broccolini. I love their lobster and mash potatoes so much, they both are so good. My best friend had the center cut filet mignon and loved it. It was very clean and quiet while being a cute restaurant.

I went for Happy Hour and loved the prices and options. Happy Hour wasn't overly crowded, which I appreciated. We sat at a window seat to people watch. The staff was nice, making sure we knew what our options were. I messed up my reservation, but they were so kind and still made sure to accommodate us. The noise level was not too loud and very relaxing. I'll definitely be back!

Attended a wine event and couldn't recommend more. The staff was amazing, coming around talking to everyone. The food was amazing and perfectly paired with all of the wines. We were in a private room and it was the perfect space for everyone to enjoy the pairings.

Our server was incredibly nice, but that's pretty much the only redeeming quality about this place. The service itself was slow and disjointed and despite the restaurant being fairly empty we were placed right next to a crowded and large table. Ordering from a pre fixe menu and yet it still took 25 minutes to get our soup, which was cold by the time we got it. The "risotto" was not even a real risotto and the salmon tasted fishy and was under seasoned (and it took another 25 minutes to arrive). Music selection was also incredibly random and did not fit the atmosphere of the restaurant.

I had not been here for a very long while so decided to stop in for a quick happy hour bite. My oh my how times have changed! I sat for 10 minutes, no one greeted me and I had to go ask the hostess for a menu. The bar menu is quite different than the main dinning room but the two items I had were tasty and decent sized - tacos ($8) & calamari ($8). The staff here is the big downfall, unprofessional and extremely RUDE!! Especially the blonde girl at the bar, with her big messy bun. She was just mean spirited and had an aggressive lecturing tone with me fully unprovoked. The guy bartender carelessly slammed my drink down on the counter. I really thought it was going to break the glass. Maybe it was a lovers quarrel I happened to sit in the middle of or just two incredibly unhappy humans who need to check their emotions before starting a shift. Let's be real: What restaurants need to remember is we have MANY options when we dine downtown. Places like M&S need us more than we need them. So being rude to any customer for no reason is simply not acceptable. Will I be back? Tough decision. All I wanted was to relax after my workday but I left feeling so annoyed. Not a good experience. The two stars in this review are just for the kitchen's flavorful food.

Came here for happy hour, it was pretty busy. We ordered the calamari, two orders of fish tacos, truffle fries, and two cocktails. Food quality was okay. Calamari was good, has an Asian flavor to it. Fish tacos were okay, not too much flavor but not horrible. Truffle fries had no truffle taste. Drinks were okay, we only ordered them because the HH menu said drinks were required per person which I've never seen before. Don't think we'd go back but it's a decent option if you're looking for something cheap and quick. Service was nice.

Had a work event here, and it was a decent experience. We did a reception for a group of about 40 people. We had a private room near the back, which was nice. The walls looked moveable/removable, which I get gives them functionality but it did up the noise level a bit (sound 'bleeding in' from the restaurant itself, since the walls weren't real walls). The room was maybe a bit on the small side for our group, but we made it work. They had a delicious spread of food out, and even when we started to run out (our ordering error, not theirs), they quickly worked with our event coordinator to get more food so our guests were none the wiser! They had (I believe) two servers taking drink orders. Because it was a standing reception and a pretty full room, that got a bit chaotic. I think also the servers had to wait for the bartenders to make the drinks, which added to the hold up. It was a bit of a wait for drinks, but the servers we had were fantastic about husting to keep everyone satisfied. The price for what we got was also reasonable. I've never been here just for dinner, but considering the good experience we had for our event, I would come back!

I don't think I'd come back here in any hurry. We went here, oddly enough, in a hurry! This was a mistake...there was no sense of urgency at all. This is a tourist-dominated restaurant that is not low quality, per se, but perhaps thinks it's a bit fancier than it is ;) We didn't make a reservation, which was silly of me, but for whatever it's worth, the website showed every available time slot for that night as being open, so I didn't think it was necessary. When we got there, we had to wait in a line to be acknowledged, since it was busy. After that, we asked about happy hour, and they said we'd sit at the bar or at one of the high tops (this is fine, but it's not specified on the website, which feels a bit deceptive). There weren't any high tops "ready to go," and the hostess said she'd have someone clear off and clean a table. We waited a bit for this, and it seemed like no one walking by who could do so was going to. Finally, we sat down, and it was another 5-10 minutes before anyone came over to our high top table. It feels a bit like they know happy hour is a slimmer check, so maybe they don't care. Our waitress was nice but very inexperienced and didn't deliver after saying she'd get us to our show within the hour. After we ordered our rather uncomplicated drinks, I kid you not, it took a full 20 minutes to receive them! It was busy, but not busy enough for that, especially sitting so close to the bar. Within the aforementioned 20 minute timeframe, we got water (yay). But that itself took...15 minutes. This was painful, at this point. Our waitress apologized and was very sweet, but 15 minutes for water? Our food came about 30-35 minutes after ordering it, which was pretty ridiculous. I get that it's not like we're at a fast food restaurant, but restaurants often don't take that long for food, especially if the waitress said she'd communicate that we were in a rush. The food itself was pretty good, I am happy to say: the shrimp cocktail, for instance, was good and had delicious cocktail sauce. My husband's tasty burger and fries was a surprising $10 from the HH menu. His truffle fries, he said, had zero truffle flavor (I confirmed this haha). This again feels a bit deceptive. Our experience here was immensely frustrating, even allowing for the fact that I should've done my due diligence more, since this restaurant's service has been rightly discussed as slow online. Still, we felt like an afterthought, and the timing of this experience was incredibly amateurish. What a waste of a piece of riverfront real estate.

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood on Chicago's Wacker Drive is within walking distance from our hotel. We frequent a McCormick & Schmick's Seafood near our Centerville home, and we know that Landry's purchased the chain fish house. We have been unable to discern any differences in McCormick & Schmick's Seafood at the various locations that we have dined. We like Landry's, Chart House, and other fish houses in this chain. We have requested that our hotel concierge make our reservations as members of Landry's select club. If one is familiar with McCormick & Schmick's Seafood, then we know the fish is fresh, and nearly 100% of the time, an experienced chef is in charge of the kitchen. McCormick & Schmick's Seafood prints a new menu every day, and we have checked on-line to have a menu idea. We are offered a nice corner table, and the dining experience is enhanced by the ambience and normal level of conversation. Our server (as always) explains the specials and the variations on preparation. We select a Chardonnay, and enjoy some relaxation prior to our order. We both enjoy the Calamari as a starter. My wife is pleased with the Cobb salad with lobster, and I order the mixed seafood grill and share with my wife. It seems the McCormick & Schmick's Seafood near our home has a greater seafood selection than the Wacker McCormick & Schmick's Seafood. We have also observed that McCormick & Schmick's Seafood pricing is very similar throughout the U.S. We know that the servers are excellent in McCormick & Schmick's Seafood, and tonight's server is no exception. The restaurant layout is different, but the same great service and seafood is present. Yes, we have visited McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks on Chicago's Wacker Drive before, and yes, we shall return. The fare is appropriate for the tariff.

I've come here at least four different times in the past year and every time I come I never know what I'm gonna get! The staff can be really rough ( think Macys ) and the food decent or you can come and feel like you're in a high anxiety situation where you might have to fight the waiter for your drink or the bartender for your drink!!!! I'm happy to report that the wonderful Kaleigh took care of us the last time we came! Not only was her service wonderful, I think it was the best service I ever had here! This used to be a wonderful place to eat, but now I never know if I'm gonna get excellent service or the rejects that got fired from Macys! I imagine it's hard to run a restaurant like this but for the prices you pay it better be good! Lots of amazing choices in the area, this is ok but unless I get a gift card I probably would not be back!

Our waitress was super friendly. My friend and I both decided to get their Chicago restaurant week menu option. The beet salad was good. Complementary warm bread was delicious. The seared scallops were superb! Their chocolate pie is a thick decadent slice that is more like chocolate cheesecake.

I had a terrible experience at this place, and it left me quite disappointed. I ordered a lemon drop martini, but it was far from what I expected. It's disheartening when a place claims to have the best happy hour, yet fails to deliver on the most basic drinks. To make matters worse, my friends also ordered drinks, and while their experience wasn't as bad as mine, they weren't exactly thrilled with their choices either. It's frustrating when multiple people in a group aren't satisfied with their beverages. Overall, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth, both from the poorly executed lemon drop martini and the disappointment of false advertising regarding the supposed best happy hour. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this place for anyone looking for a well-made cocktail or a satisfying happy hour experience.

I had an excellent dinner with outstanding service. Their Pan Seared Sea Bass and Seared Sea Scallops were delicious. The Asian Calamari was amazing with the perfect mix of spicy and sweetness. Their Blue Crab Corn Chowder was so fantastic that I wanted another cup. Ambiance, dessert, and cocktails were superb. I loved the Raspberry Mule and Classic Creme Brulee.

Fantastic staple in downtown! My favorite bartenders in the city Kaleigh and Jon always make for a wonderful experience. Not only are the drinks crafted with excellence but served with a refreshing smile.

Great place.. always a good Happy Hour Spot... I love their oyster rockafella's... Service is always fast & very friendly & it's a vibe sitting in that bar area at a high top table...

How have I not written about this place? For a period of almost 4 years, I have been coming here to host our monthly company onboarding dinner for new hires and executives. For the vast majority of these dinners, Sarah hosted our guests and when possible, gave us access to the private room. The best reason to come here is the attentive service and treatment. A close second reason is the food itself. I've literally had everything on the menu and though I have my favorites (try any dish that contains the "&" symbol) I have loved the monthly rotations of the chef's specials. Some of the absolute best have been the bouillabaisse and the charred octopus appetizer (both seasonal). But don't worry, any of the seafood or any of the steaks are worth every penny. In addition the wine selection is diverse and the servers are great at recommendations. Last thing I'll say is that when you eat here, it feels super classy, with linen covered tables and napkins, so this is a great place to entertain clients or take a date. In the summer, the patio is open and you get a great view of the city and the people walking by. I highly recommend you stop by!

A big shout out to Frankie, Diego and Natalie for their stellar service on Christmas Eve 2021 for myself and my family! You made our night! Every year, my step-dad surprises my family with a fancy dinner out on Christmas Eve. It is always a surprise and we never know where we are going until we get there. Every year is a hit from the start, however, 2021 was not. We arrived at another establishment, which I will not name and immediately the vibe felt off. Push comes to shove, we ended up not wanting to have our Christmas Eve dinner at this restaurant due to their strict time restrictions. We would not be able to enjoy one of our favorite nights of the year. Frantically, my sisters began calling other restaurants in the area to see if they had any openings. It was Christmas Eve and we were worried no one would have availability. My sister reached Natalie at McCormick and Schmick's and was welcomed to come on over, as they had availability due to cancellations. We were thrilled. We quickly packed up at the other restaurant and ran on over! We were greeted kindly by Natalie and Diego, letting us know that we could take our time and enjoy our night. Immediately it was a 180 from our previous experience. The vibe was so much more friendly and we felt that we could truly enjoy our evening! We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, mains and dessert. The seared ahi tuna from the appetizers were amazing. They were the favorite for our table, so delicious we got multiple rounds of them! I highly suggest this Chicago location for McCormick & Schmick's! The amazing service we received made our night perfect and we will remember it for years to come. Thank you again to Frankie, Diego and Natalie for letting my family enjoy our evening and for all the fun interactions we had that evening!

This review is for M&S's Happy Hour. We wanted to do an anti-Black Friday no-shopping thing, so we wanted to do something low key and Turkey-free after Thanksgiving. Timing for Happy Hour is decent, 3:30 - 6:30 pm, so that is a fair amount of time to make it worth your while to go downtown and pay for parking (through Spot Hero of course). M&S on River Road was me and my BFF's go to for Happy Hour and we loved the Happy Hour menu. The prices were always great for food and drinks, and we would leave full in our tummies and our wallet's full. As with a lot of restaurants, the Happy Hour menu has been stripped down a bit, but there is still a nice selection of items to fill you up. I will preface this review with if you want to do a true Happy Hour in terms of the prices, stick with the menu. Of course we go off script when it comes to drinks, so our bill was more, but worth it. As far as the food goes, there are items that fall in the price range of $4 (truffle fries and M&S Chowder fries), $6 (fried calamari and Baja fish tacos), $8 (Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, Open Blue Cobia tacos, and Cheeseburger) and $10 (Spice Seared Ahi Tuna, Steamed mussels, and Chilled shrimp cocktail). Portions are a decent size considering it is Happy Hour; think small plates for sharing. The burger was a decent size but doesn't come with a full order of fries, but is tasty. The Ahi tuna is very good as a poke bowl and seared. Overall, the portions and price are a good deal. Drinks are $6/7 (beer), $8.50 (well drinks), $7-9 (house wine), $12 (craft spirits) and $9-12 (premium wine). Now that may sound like a lot but when you are talking about downtown Chicago prices, these are not bad. Considering the current state of the restaurant and hospitality industry in staffing, our server was pretty good. In pre-COVID times, it would have been considered slow, but he was as attentive as he could be since was working the tables and the bar. He was very apologetic, even though he was not responsible for the staffing situation, and tried to stay on top of making sure were taken care of, which was nice considering that there were seven of us. We will be roping this into our Happy Hour rotation as it was a good time.

Reservation for a group of 8 at 5:15. We checked in and they were not ready for us and told us to wait. There were literally 5 people in the whole restaurant but we waiting 8-10 and were then seating at a table near the check in area that was already setup. We immediately ordered drinks & apps which took a while to come out so when we saw our waiter we asked to order entrees. We had to ask for drink refills and ask about our food because it took over an hour after we ordered to get it. Then we had to track down someone to send our waiter to order dessert and I had to track him down to give him my credit card to pay so we could go. It was almost a 3 hour dinner! Food was over cooked, desserts were good. I'm unsure if they are short staffed but the service was terribly slow.

I came to this McCormick & Schmick location multiple times over the years. Overall I enjoyed the experience, food, drink, and service here.

Wow what an amazing night! From the second I walked in I knew it was going to be great. From the host stand on through this place knows what hospitality means. Outside of the great service the food was amazing too! Haven't had a better filet in Chicago.

Who do they think they are? I hope they think they are excellent because they are and I really enjoyed myself at their restaurant yesterday. Everything was amazing. My personal favorite was the Rockefeller oysters and the black truffle gnocchi. The drinks were pretty good too. I would definitely come here again. They weren't very busy which surprised me. We were able to get a comfortable booth on the wall. Those booths were designed for four people so I'm sure if they were busier we wouldn't have been afforded such nice seats. Either way, I was appreciative and my friend enjoyed the great seating too.

Great service, the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. Our food was great. The interior is amazing. Food was great!

Our food was absolutely delicious my daughter is cutting back on meat and the only options were the sides (salad's or vegetables). Our waitress Aby was so kind to ask the chef if there were any vegetarian options for entrée for my daughter. (She also was very attentive and checked in multiple times to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, she is awesome.The restaurant is beautiful - perfect for date night, girls night or just a little self love outing. I will be back for sure (our was around $90 (both entrees, salad, sprite and lemonade)

I love to try out different happy hours in the different cities I travel to and it's no shocker that McCormick's happy hour menu caught my eye. They have a very extensive happy hour menu with drinks and food. The only stipulation is that each person must order a drink of at least $4.90 each. My mom and I ordered a cocktail each along with a variety of the happy hour dishes. The calamari, poke and seared ahi tuna were really good choices but I would not order the tacos again. The tacos lacked flavor and volume and the only discernible taste was the flour tortilla. As for the drinks, the lemon drop was quite strong and the sangria was more on the mild side. Side note: service is not amazing but we made it through the meal.

This review is based on take out from the Restaurant Week menu at McCormick's. It looked good so didn't want to wait on finding someone to go with me to dine in. When I walked in, I was greeted by a busboy who directed me quickly to viewing the menu via my phone. I'm digging that places are doing this now. It took awhile for me to place my order since there was no one else up front but once I did, I feel the order came quickly considering it was a 3 course meal. I ordered the walnut and blue cheese salad, the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon and the upside down apple pie for dessert. The salad.. was a salad. I didn't have any expectations beyond that so just glad that there were no wilted parts. The salmon was really good! It came with a side of mashed taters and a green beans/carrots combo. The combo was really good as well. Not sure what they seasoned them with but I would love recipe. And the dessert... now, this was my favorite. It was really good! Came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which they packed separately and it carried well home.

So, we started with the host letting us know that our waiter, Maurice, was "the best in the world." That proved to be far from the truth throughout the evening. We saw him maybeee three times but he was less than attentive. I had to ask another server for another drink and we waited so long for him to bring us our check that we had to ask another waiter for that as well. The drinks were good, I had the Ruby Thyme and the cherry mule. We started with oysters and fried calamari which were both pretty average. My partner enjoyed the Parmesan crusted flounder and from the bite I had, I found it delicious as well. I had the Alaskan halibut which was quite plain and lacked flavor. I don't think I would return based on the less than ideal service and generally mediocre food.

This was my first time at this restaurant and there were six of us, two from out of town. I ordered the pan seared sea bass with the crab fried rice and bok choy and was disappointed with how salty the food was. Someone else had the sea scallops and they were also extremely salty. The service was good and it was a nice ambiance, but we were very disappointed with the food.

My order was edible but not as expected. The service was very good. Our server was knowledgeable and personable. The ambience was conducive for quite an enjoyable evening.

I stopped in for an impromptu birthday lunch for a friend during a bit of a snowstorm and we had a wonderful meal. The hostess was incredibly sweet and gracious. She was friendly on the phone and just as pleasant when we arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy and she gave us the option to choose where we sat. The booths look like cabanas and feel very private. Our server was a no nonsense kind of guy who was efficient but not overly personable. He was helpful and attentive, which we appreciated very much. Our beverages stayed refilled and his timing for everything was perfect. My friend said her coffee was hot, rich and delicious. My iced tea was perfectly tasty. We both ordered the salmon lunch special that was fresh and expertly prepared! The entree came with two sides of green beans and mashed potatoes. It was a great value that tasted as good as it looked. Overall, McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks offers a beautiful room, attentive service, delicious cuisine and a fantastic value. I can't wait to return!

Kevin the bartender was very chill and kind! He made our night much more enjoyable. I order the redfish, it was tasty but I believe the fish is different than the old recipe. Beyond that I had a good experience.

Yet another reason to go south of the river...from understated elegant ambience to delectable surf and turf offerings. We started off with two signature cocktails that were delicious and well-priced, along with the new appetizer of Crispy Asian Calamari (fantastic!). Our meals were delicious; 7 (seven!) scallops with the scallop dish, wonderful blend of crab/shrimp stuffing with the salmon, and a huge and well-seasoned Kobe burger for our non-fish eating companion (who also had the wedge salad, which was huge and yummy). Topped off with attentive service from our server in a private booth, with a view of the Chicago skyline in glass. A wonderful evening!

My friend and I always go to McCormick and Schmick's for restaurant week. It has become our little tradition. I have always enjoyed my meals here but this last time, it could have been better. Before I say anything else, the service was excellent. Our server was freaking fantastic and the food presentation was great. Now to the food. They brought out the bread and butter, the bread tasted off. It was hot and seemed to be fresh but almost like the dough was a little off before they baked it. We started with the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp. Excellent. Things kind of went downhill from there. I had the steamed mussels for my starter. Everything was bland except the sauce that was on my fish. A little salt goes a long way guys. My meal was the blue cobia with mashed potatoes and green beans. The fish was a bit overcooked, the mashed potatoes tasted like they had been mashed before the potatoes were done. The green beans were very bland. My friend got the stuffed salmon and she tasted my mussels and I tasted her salmon. I'm glad that I didn't get the salmon and she was glad that she didn't get the mussels. We took our desserts to go. I had the cheesecake later that evening and not only did it taste old but it made me sick at my stomach. I was disappointed to say the least. For what we paid for our meals, our food should have been excellent. Our server is really what kept me from getting upset at the food. He was awesome.

Food was outstanding assortment of fried and raw oysters wonderful stuffed salmon with shrimp and crab wonderful Seabass, Apple, pecan pie just everything was amazing. Hot crispy sourdough bread martinis were icy cold with stuffed blue cheese, olives. I will definitely be back.. we ate at the bar two bartenders John and Hugo do a great job thanks

Love the Cajun chicken pasta. The service was excellent. The ambience is relaxed and enjoyable.

On Sunday 12/12/21, my other half and I flew from NY to Chicago for just the day to celebrate my birthday. Neither of us have ever been to Chicago but the main point of the trip was to visit The Office Experience (my favorite TV show of all time and a must-see before it ends!). We did some walking around after to see the Bean, etc and then headed to my surprise dinner at McCormick's at 5pm. We were more than impressed. The restaurant is in a great location right in the heart of downtown Chicago. They have a beautiful grand entrance with a classic gold revolving door; very swanky mid-70s decor with a slightly modern tone as to not feel too antiquated. The restaurant lounge areas were in a perfect layout with levels and options for seating. The rich dark wood and gorgeous lighting design brings a respectable calmness to the vibe of the entire place. I was mostly impressed with the Chicago skyline stained glass partition near the kitchen. The only downside (that can't be fixed) was that the bathrooms were behind the kitchen so servers often bumped in to guests. This is not a complaint, just a warning.. The hostess immediately welcomed us and when we gave our reservation she wished me a happy birthday. She was extremely accommodating in making sure that we had the perfect table location, and near an outlet as we had to charge our dead phones from taking so many pictures all day. We had Steven as a waiter and he was absolutely fantastic! He was very knowledgeable, extremely personable, and never annoyingly energetic. We felt very relaxed and not rushed; he didn't try to drag out the night either. He allowed my date to sample a couple of beers before deciding, and I had one of the best dirty martinis ever. I got a couple of oysters to start which were delicious. We ordered the crab cake as an appetizer which was one of the best we've had in a very long time. It came with her cute little Mexican salad and a very delicious green sauce. My date ordered a steak that was cooked to perfection (medium well and still juicy!) and I had the parmesan-crusted flounder with shrimp, mashed, and green beans/carrots. The meal was delicious and everything was cooked just right. We had to catch a flight right after so Steven accommodated me with wrapping my beloved leftovers (which I couldn't wait to finish on the plane lol). Stellar service! The restaurant is very clean and the ambiance was breathtakingly beautiful. The service was impeccable. This is a perfect place for a nice night out or a very special occasion. I highly recommend eating here and we hope to be back soon!

This one is on E. Wacker Rd, Chicago. It does not deserve five stars. Two or one stars, or better yet, NO Star at all. The server came, threw my filet mignon on my table, and left angrily without looking at me. I don't know why. The steak was horrible and tasted like old meat. The ambiance is cold and uninviting. Smells raton or damp.

Wonderful Fish tacos at happy hour! Service was excellent! Ambiance perfect!! Highly recommend!

Ive been here a couple of times, from a proper dinner to happy hour... it is a chain after all so I cant say that it stands out too much from the other chain restaurants. Came here for happy hour( one of the few happy hour places left after the city opeed back up). We ordered the fish taco and fried calamari with two drinks. the margarita and some cocktail for 48. Only the food was happy hour the drinks were regular priced:S usually it would be happy hour for both( something they are not being honest to guests?) The service was soso ... the waitress seemed frantic probably because of being open during the new normal. three stars as for the view being on river front.

Thanksgiving was alright. Granted if you going here for your holiday meal, you might have to take what they give you. It took 20 minutes for the water to make it to the table. We had the thanksgiving meal and -it was fun to look at all of the people eating out during a Holiday But... -the turkey came in square pieces -the stuffing was really dry -alternatively, the salad and gravy were damn good. The meal cost $78.00 for two which was fair but I think I can find better for the cash. Service was basic and the AC units around the restaurant really looked horrible.

Located on Wacker Drive off State Street, this cozy restaurant is great for romantic dimly lit dinner or for groups. The bar is well stocked and has happy hour specials. There are private tables with curtains along the wall. The dining rooms are appointed with woodwork, art deco chandeliers and leaded glass panes reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. This restaurant is known for steak and seafood. I had dinner yesterday to check it out. Beer battered norwegian cod fish and chips were quite tasty. Today I celebrated my girlfriends birthday. We had scallops with bacon hash and flounder. Both were quite good. If you're looking for portions the flounder plate had shrimp, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The staff are wearing masks. I hope they add alaskan salmon.

The food and service was great! Great location! We had clams, filet mignon and cream brûlée!

My first time at an M&S ended up being in the windy city on a pretty chilly night. This location did suffer from heating problems, and brought in pretty loud heaters into the dining room but they did not seem to be doing much favors in such a large area. We were told to avoid the window area, since it gets colder. Not sure if this is a year-round problem. We got served a nice, warm bread basket, and got a round of soups and salads. Really enjoyed the lobster bisque. For entrees, I went for scallops which came with a pretty decent green sauce, but lacked flavor in the potato-corn hash that was supposed to have bacon in it. This caliber of steakhouses has tough competition. For me, it didn't stand out against the Capital Grille or Morton's, but I'll probably try again in another city not as chilly as Chicago.

You might walk past them by accident because they are set a bit further away from the sidewalk. But you would then miss out on some amazing food and pretty good drinks. The inside is warm, a bit dark, with a lot of wood throughout. Our server was wonderful and it was a such a solid experience where we are going to monitor their menu specials to work them into our restaurant rotation for going out. If you read this and see that they have a mushroom risotto with Cobia, get it!

Came here to celebrate my mom and step dad's birthday for Sunday dinner. It was not busy at all when we dined on a Sunday at 5PM. By 7PM, more people showed up. The restaurant is very dark inside so it was kind of hard to see the menu. We started off with a cup of clam chowder for everyone and then calamari for the table. Their calamari plate was delicious because it has a kick from the fried jalapeños they add to the dish. Also, they are stingy with their bread and butter. We never got offered more and they only give you little bit of butter. The main course was delicious and my family was pleased. I ordered the crab & shrimp stuffed salmon. Very well made and flavorful. However, the veggies that came with were a little too undercooked for my liking and unflavored. We ordered 3 different desserts and they put a candle on each for the celebrants. My fav dessert was the upside down candied walnut apple pie!!! So good!! But when they brought that particular dessert out, the ice cream was already half way melting which was unfortunate. The other desserts were also very good, and would be desirable if you're a huge chocolate person.
