The Best Spicy Dishes In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Our inner monologue after trying the Carolina reaper wings at McCrossen's inFairmountwent something like this: “Oh, these aren’t bad. It’s fine. Well, it’s a little hot. A whiskey and coke can knock this out. Okay. No. I need to eat a snowball.”These deceptive wings have a back-end heat that builds over time, and after a few, it kind of feels like someone struck a match on the back of your throat. Sizzling aftertaste aside, each wing stays perfectly crispy even though they’re soaked in a peppery reaper sauce that’s as smoky and deliciously tangy as it is hot. There’s around six in an order, and sometimes the bar has a deal for a free beer if you finish the whole plate. You can go for it, but at what esophageal cost?" - Candis R. McLean

McCrossen's Tavern - Review - Fairmount - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"You’re inFairmount. It’s 11pm. Bars nearby aren’t serving anything but dark liquor and a heavy dose of Bruce Springsteen. Except for McCrossen's Tavern, which has a food menu that is available until midnight. It’s a rough-around-the-edges bar that’s open daily and gets concert-pit-level loud during a gameday. Your meal approach should center around the crispy wings, super cheesy french onion soup, and a short rib dip sandwich with a delicious oniony broth. The crowd has a fondness for singing along to whatever is blasting through the speakers. Because there’s nothing like a 12am meal, a cold $5 beer, and a stranger drunkenly playing air bass guitar, right?" - Candis R. We had a great meal after visiting the art museum! The drinks were excellent (espresso #1 and smashley). The fried brussel sprouts were some of the best I've had in recent memory. The cheese steak and chicken wings did not disappoint. Despite being busy on Labor Day with limited staff, the service was top notch and super friendly. Glad I found this joint!

Google
Went back recently. They are understaffed on a Friday night and the service shows. Staff is doing their best but it’s slipping. We ordered starters but all the food came out kind of at once, apps, mains…last dish out was the salad. Fries were lukewarm. And it’s LOUD. We probably won’t return. Outstanding pub. Happy hour made me happy. Chris is an excellent, affable server. The fries were excellent. Happy to have this place so close to home.

The food is really good the atmosphere is fun and the people are really nice! Overall one of my favorite places near spring garden!

Just happen to stop by here after a real estate event. This was the After party! The owner greeted us! He was more than pleasant and inviting. The staff was excellent. Wings were amazing! Would highly recommend the place! Stop in and get a drink!

Google
Loved it! We selected this place by through a Google Maps-dartboard through and boy did we win big! Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful...the dining room had a cozy inviting fire going... and the food was BONKERS! The loaded fries will have you wonder how you lived your life before now! Bacon egg and cheese with a side of great fries was just what I needed. Glad we got off the BSL and took a walk over to this gem of a tavern. Will definitely visit again as well as recommend 100%!

Google
This restaurant is a gem with its excellent decor and friendly service. The atmosphere is inviting and perfect for a casual outing. They offer a great selection of beers and their chicken wings are particularly delicious. Whether you're here for a quick drink or a full meal, the quality and ambiance make it a standout choice. Highly recommend for a delightful dining experience!

Google
Took almost an hour to be served. Completely ignored by ponytail man. Old drinks from previous guests were left at bar. Nothing was cleared, wiped down or even sanitized. Instead of serving me or at least giving me a menu, the bar staff took shots behind the bar. Definitely wanted to order food but wasn’t sure if the staff would remember I ordered it. Seems they’re only interested in serving friends of the neighborhood. Definitely not interested in new clientele.

Google
My first time here. My boys and I were looking to have some wings and beer also b able to dine in! We found this place and walked in even though they were busy a gentleman who I think either was the owner or a manager came over and asked us if we were doing okay and we would prefer to sit in the next room which was much quieter and moved us and made sure we liked the table. He was awesome. Then we had max who was our server nice guy he made the night! We ordered french onion soup, arugula salad, chicken wings, French fries, chicken Philly steak, Philly steak, muscles in a white sauce. Everything was yummy and delish. Had a wonderful time with my boys. Great food good people. Definitely go back

Yelp
Great wings and atmosphere. Friendly service and no rushing you out the door. Minus a star only because the Wheelchair Accessible entrance was not clearly marked. The staff was very kind and helpful in directing us to the ramp in the back.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying that I'm incredibly aware that many businesses struggled through and immediately following the pandemic, and the industry's landscape overall has gotten more acutely hit or miss with places we used to hold tried and true. I'm also not usually one to go online and badmouth establishments, especially a bar I've enjoyed so thoroughly in the past. However, the phrase "fool me once..." comes to mind, and I want to warn others. This is coming after AT LEAST the third time I've been done dirty by this place. The food has seriously deflated in quality over the years, and the service has been shockingly slow and forgetful, to say the least. My partner and I visited McCrossen's this past Saturday night for dinner and drinks in the hopes that, after over a year's worth of time and space, things had improved. This was sadly not the case. Our food was inconsistently cooked, under-seasoned, and just plain blah--the roast pork sandwich my partner ordered looked pathetic, and the noodles in my Udon Noodle Salad were all stuck together, as if they had come from one of those microwaveable meals you'd find in the international aisle at a grocery store. We seriously came to the conclusion that we could have made drastically tastier food at home for a small fraction of the cost (everything was grossly overpriced for its quality/quantity, fyi). If you're in the area and looking for good food and a similar environment, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. The bar alone is fine, though.

Yelp
My friends and I were in town for a conference and stumbled across McCrossen's Tavern. We were seated outside, because we were a large group and there was a Phillies game on and the place was packed! We had great service even though it was busy. The food was fantastic. I got the burger and fries and they were delicious.

Emily H.

Yelp
Came here after a 12 hour shift and my waitress was a saint! The food was incredible. Get the Mac and cheese you won't regret it. Also such a cozy feel inside. I want to decorate my home like that.

Yelp
I truly don't understand how and why this place has such high reviews. My friend and I had a terrible experience here. Not only was the service terrible here (we ended up leaving without getting everything we ordered) but the food gave us both gnarly food poisoning. Will not be returning.

Will S.

Yelp
Great local bar. The crowd is fun and very social, nice bartenders. It especially shines late night. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Ashley H.

Yelp
I've been here twice and would come way more often if we lived in the neighborhood. We've sat in the bar and the dining room. Bar can get noisy but that's to be expected on a weekend night- make a reservation for the dining room if you care, otherwise enjoy the lively vibe of the bar area. Food/drinks are solid, staff is cool. I am jealous of people who can be regulars here.
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
I walk past this restaurant all the time and there are always people eating here. Finally tried this place and wow, the food was better than I expected. We got the shrimp taco, Philly cheesesteak, and the tavern wings. Their portions are big - the shrimp taco comes with 3 tacos. For the wings, you can pick different sauces on the side if you can't decide. Their wings are big and nicely battered & fried. I didn't try the cheesesteak but friend said it was good. There's nothing fancy about this place, but it feels like an ideal "hangout spot" when you are looking for a casual night out with your friends. I can see why there are always people here! Overall: Perfect spot when you're picking a place to catch up with a friend! Great food for the price

Yelp
I will never go back to this place again. I have been going there for years because I love the burgers. I would literally have self care dates. Last night, I was there for the Phillies game and the bartenders only care about drinking WITH you not to serve you. One bartender literally said F*** Y*** to me. I am beyond disrespected and employees shouldn't be wasted on the job.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Been here a couple times now. Amazing menu !! Tuna Mushroom risotto is bomb. Late night menu is good too!

Diana C.

Yelp
The food was good pub food, not too expensive. Our server was really nice and let us order from the dinner menu even though we arrived quite late and 10 min from the swap to more snacky late night food. The music was loud inside (although expected for a Friday) but here was nice seating on the street and the brick walls and design of the interior were very charming and reminiscent of of some of the pubs in Ireland.

Kennedy S.

Yelp
Food was ok but the service was just strange. We had a woman cut in front of us right near the host stand and the hostess just served her first, no questions asked, even after witnessing her cut at least three groups of people. Then, we get to our table and it's at the end of a table with another group even though cleared opened booths were available? When we asked to be switched, the hostess looked as if she was going to cry and a waiter asked we be nicer to her... for just asking to move? I hope it was just an off day for them because everyone looked to be working hard and iI wasn't awful but we won't be back.

Yelp
You know, I rarely update my reviews, but here I am. I was a bit harsh earlier and I've come back to McCrossen's a bunch of times since my terrible HH experience and it has gotten better. (I will never order the stuff I ordered last time EVER again - review should be below). Anyway, I love the proximity to my apartment, of course. And I do want to talk about their brunch! AMAZING! $2 mimosas!!! I will never go anywhere else again. You can't mess up brunch and the food was good - I got an omelette, so good and I also had 12 mimosas. I'm not kidding. They're big and strong and did I mention $2. SO good. Also, the wings and the chicken fingers are good munchies while watching the game(?) Idk what game but I've watched a few here LOL. It's also not hard to get a seat here inside. Outside during the summer it could be tricky. I'm glad I gave this spot another shot. I'll be back.

Yelp
While visiting Philly stumbled across this place as we were hungry and needed something to eat nearby. The space is one long hallway. Restrooms located towards back and long bar style set up. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our waiter was not up to par as this led tot his rating. It took about 10-15 minutes before we were able to get water for the table and place our order. We did see her pass the table back and forth. Either the place was super busy or short staff, but it took away from our experience of this establishment. Now the food.....worst wings I've ever had! Ordered 10 piece buffalo wings with fries. The fries were cold (perhaps b/c took her so long to bring out from the kitchen) the sauce for the wings was on the side and not mixed in?! Others at the table had a burger and sandwich which were just subpar. One of my friends never received her side of fries. We tried to bring to the waiter attention, but once again she was on the move never stopped at the table. We had to tell someone else which led to cancelling the order. Overall, Ehh experience food was not worth it at all.

Yelp
Great place, atmosphere, service, and the upscale bar menu! We eat brunch and dinner there on Sundays during football season, sometimes! ;)

Yelp
This is a local gem. Shishito pepper is my go-to. I've been here many times and it never disappoints.

Yelp
Super awesome ambiance and friendly staff. Big portions as well definitely recommend the mussels.

Yelp
Fun watering hole with good music and ambiance. We didn't eat her me but good local beers. The bartender was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and attentive service - plus, they were carrying the Bama game! Admittedly, I'm no expert - but the best cheesesteak I had while visiting Philadelphia

Yelp
With a welcoming, come-as-you-are atmosphere, friendly staff, solid food, and good music, McCrossen's essentially checks all of the boxes you could ask for in a local pub if you're in the area. For me, it's everything that I look for in my local spot. It's become our reliable go-to for a quick bite or a drink when we want to get out of the house. If the weather is good enough, we'll even take the dog and sit outside. We've tried just about everything on the menu and everything has been good. Their highlights for me are the wings (meaty and delicious) and the falafel sandwich, but at worst, the food was always perfectly fine on the pub food spectrum. Considering how often we've been there in the short time we've lived in Philly, I'd say their batting average for pub food is definitely worthy of an all-star vote. The staff has always been great. Outgoing, warm, and in really good spirits. The service has always been good, as well, which is impressive when considering how busy the bar gets at traditionally-predictable times. Just have a little patience when it's a rush, as they often seem a little understaffed on the floor during those times. The staff will be running around like crazy to compensate, so someone will get to you pretty fast. If there's one complaint, it's that the music in the evenings can get so loud that it's hard to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Of course, if you stroll in later in the evening like we tend to do for a nightcap, it's sort of par for the course. Overall, McCrossen's Tavern is a fail-safe spot. It's a pub that feels like a local pub. The surrounding neighborhood is diverse, and the bar fully represents that, too, which is nice. Sometimes convenience is enough to bring us back, but thankfully, McCrossen's offers far more than convenience. Which is why we're always returning!
google avatar

Yelp
In the 6.5 years we have been here, have always enjoyed strolling down here for a quick bit and a beverage. This time we came in for some burgers/sandwiches and some bourbon beverages. All of these were absolutely delicious. Great service, time, and wonderful dinner.

Yelp
As a bartender for over a decade and someone who has lived within a block of this bar for 15 years, I was reminded once again why I come to this bar less than twice a year. Service is terrible. Food is mediocre and extremely overpriced - $25 for a large order of habanero wings that aren't spicy and served to you dry with the sauce on the side. Also, don't bother coming here during an Eagles game. You'd think both of the male bartenders had loads of money riding on the outcome of the game - they paid more attention to the tv screens than the bar guests. They probably should have taken the night off and gotten their shifts covered. The man-bunned bartender who took my order treated me extremely rudely as if I was an inconvenience to him and then proceeded to serve multiple guests, slap his colleague on the butt a few times, and watch several minutes of the game before he looked over to me and realized he had forgotten my beer. You think I'm exaggerating? My takeout wings in a crowded bar came out faster than my Guinness draught. Save your money and your time and go to any other bar in the area. You'd be doing yourself a favor.

Deric K.

Yelp
I came thru the door euphoric vibes don't miss out. Great portions and staff was the friendliest around. Would recommend if you want to beat the cold with a cool crowd!!

Yelp
We had a lovely brunch here before going to the Barnes. A combination I highly recommend to anyone visiting Philadelphia
google avatar

Miller G.

Yelp
A good tavern, local to the Barnes foundation and Logan Square. Came here for dinner on a Friday night for dinner with my family. It was pretty crowded and is a cozy place, a little dark inside however. Started with the hummus and the chipotle and lime chicken tacos. I ordered the sausage rigatoni. Other meals around the table included mussels in white sauce, seared scallops, falafel, and seared salmon. Both appetizers were good, and I would definitely recommend the tacos, especially if you like a little bit of heat. They do have some kick, but it's nothing over the top. I also enjoyed my sausage rigatoni. There was nothing too special about it, but was a good sized portion and filled me up. I tried the mussels - definitely not the best I've had; they were a little chewy. Overall, the consensus among my family was that the meal was average. We think that part of the problem was that we ordered and were expecting a nicer meal. If we had ordered more traditional tavern food such as a burger, and paired it with drinks, for more of a tavern experience, we probably would've been happier. As such, I would recommend it as a tavern for bar food and drinks, but not for a sit down dinner with higher expectations.

Ellen S.

Yelp
A beloved neighborhood spot with solid food and friendly service. My go-to is the mussels (white). They're so good I have a hard time ordering anything else. Service tonight was exceptional, in spite of the fact that the restaurant and bar were both jumping. When described my happy hour cocktail as "meh" our server (Steve?) generously offered to replace it with a glass of wine. He even brought my plate back because he saw the last mussel left in the sauce! We feel so lucky to have MCCrossen's right across them street from our home!
google avatar

Tay L.

Yelp
It's cozy and comfortable. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. I would only change the height of my seat.

Katniss E.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in after a Philly Art Walk Scavenger hunt (via Let's Roam). I had the candy cane beet salad, coffee, and a mimosa. Everything was tasty. But I really came here to say how awesome Kate the bartender was. She was very efficient but also personable and made us feel like regulars. Keep up the great work Kate!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar. If you frequent this bar, they'll make you feel like you're a part of the family. The drinks are always flowing and the food is a major step up (or two) from your average neighborhood Irish bar. I highly recommend the wings (hot & honey is my go to) - I've also overheard other patrons that they consider their wings to be top 3 in all of Philly. Sometimes there's a wait, so make reservations ahead of time or arrive shortly after they open. They'll also take names and numbers if there is a wait. And they actually will CALL you to let you know your table is ready. I was once told it would be 40 minutes, and then received a big apology when he called us after 50 minutes for the delay and he'd hold our table for however long it took us to arrive to the bar. Finally, the owner is fabulous. He's always present and doing whatever work needs to be done. Being in a major city, that says A LOT. It's awesome to see so much pride in an establishment. If you're in between bars to go to for whatever reason - come here. You'll thank me later!
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem! We were sat right away without a reservation at a cute outdoor table. We got the hot and honey wings, the special summer salad, & shrimp tacos! The wings were amazing. The sauce had a perfect bite paired with the sweetness from the honey. They were massive and very filling. The summer salad was a nice light refreshing salad with a nice balsamic reduction for a dressing. We were both disappointed in the shrimp tacos as they were very bland with no bite and only 2 shrimp each. Our waiter was great. He was funny and very helpful with the food and drink menu. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Have been attending mandatory happy hour at McCrossens since 2004. Lucky that it's only a steps from home but I'd walk past 4 or 5 pubs to participate in their HH sessions.

Yelp
Great vibes at this place. Bartenders were nice and seemed to be having a great time. The energy was pure.
google avatar

Gitansh B.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday evening with a friend without reservations, but was quickly seated. We opted for the bar, but there were tables available outside and inside if desired. I ordered the Peach Whiskey Smash for a drink which was a great summer drink. For food, we ordered the shrimp tacos as an appetizer which canned as 3 tacos and was very flavorful. The avocado crema dressing was suburbs. I got the Penne Vodka as my main dish which was a much bigger portion than I was expecting. It was very creamy and tasted great; happy it was a large portion so I could take some home with me. My friend ordered the Mussels which is her go-to here. I tried one of the mussels and I can understand why it is my friend's go to dish here. Very tasty and the spicy red sauce definitely has an unexpected kick to it, but a good one. Looking forward to coming out here in the future and hopefully making this my neighborhood spot
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
Our friends brought us to this favorite spot of theirs on a rainy evening and we were overwhelmed by the warmth of the venue. Literally, a fire burning in the corner, but also dark wood and beautiful brick created a cozy yet fancy scene. We ordered the seasonal flatbread, Dijon mussels (amazing!), whipped burrata, honey siracha wings, and a pasta dish! It was more than we could eat between the 4 of us. Great beer, wine, and cocktail selection. We sat at a high top in the dining room but they also have a great bar side. Fantastic service and friendly people. This is the kind of place I would love to become a regular!

Yelp
I went here for happy hour + dinner during a Phillies game. The place was packed - recommend making a reservation. The crowd was fun & cheering for the game. The restaurant was loud. The food was pretty good and they had good happy hour specials / deals. The service was a little slow.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot for a beer and some classic bar food. 10/10 recommend, service was amazing! Well priced too.

Yelp
Came here on July 4th. We understand it is busy and maybe even short staffed. However, I am giving it a 1 star for the horrible service. 6 of us placed an order for drinks at the same time. One of the drink was not available, so a different drink was ordered. When the server came, she only brought 5 out of 6 drinks; one of the drinks she brought was a wrong one. When we told her this, she said he has to drink it- can't take it back. Usually in other places they would take it back and bring the right one. That was 5 out of 6 drinks, I was still waiting for mine. After almost finishing the food and others finishing their drinks, I asked her about my drink. She told me the drink I ordered was not available. No apologies. Rest of the group was almost done with their drinks I then ordered another drink, after about 5 minutes, I asked another server and he checked on it. My drink was brought almost at the same time with the check. As the picture shows, empty food plates and glasses with my drink. Everyone else had to wait u til I finish my drink, and I literally had to chug my drink to get out. We had also asked for water few times, that never came. She told us they were short on water glasses. Yea the bar was busy, but which bar is short with water glasses? The women server is extremely rude. Would recommend this place but not her as a server. Unfortunately, the tip was included on the bill. We would not have given anything.

Yelp
This was our first time going to dinner here and we really enjoyed it. They had indoor and outdoor seating. The staff followed all COVID guidelines. We were there celebrating a special occasion and multiple staff members came out and gave congratulations. The food was great, drinks were great, and friendly staff. It have the vibe of a friendly neighborhood bar with a local following. Will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Since yelp had a problem with my first review, and I didn't here's a repost. TLDR: Server with grimy hair, dirty hands and an unnecessary bad attitude paired with another employee with an equally lousy attitude who rammed into me 3 times without a word of apology. Hate having to write this, but after my last visit I don't have a choice. I was a semi regular here pre coof. I haven't been to the city in years and was excited to catch up with some friends I wasn't sure might still work there or not. No idea what happened to this place but never again. Weekday after lunch before happy hour, not busy as all. Grab a seat and sat there for 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged me. Watched him struggle to make and fill pretty simple drink orders for a handful of people. Noticed that his greasy ginger hair wasn't tied back, but instead was held in place with an equally dirty beanie cap. He also had dirt under his nails. So right then and there, I'm not ordering food. While waiting some other employee, hipster with glasses, beard and flannel, also grimy looking & with a shitty attitude bumped into me 3 times coming & going to the bar, no acknowledgement, no apology. Just being a dick for no reason. Finally get a menu thrown at me, no hello, no offer of water, or anything, just tossed at me like a dog in passing, so still waiting. Comes around a bit later and just stares at me with this stupid, pissy look like I just offended his mother, and I haven't said a word yet. I start to ask if my old friend was working, didn't even finish the sentence before getting a nasty reply of "Can't tell you" And walks away again smirking at some other guy sitting there like it was some big win. Never even got asked what can I get you? WTF is this shit? How f'ing old are these people? Gathered myself for a second and left. Don't care anymore. You pissed away money and a repeat customer. F this place and their greasy employees with the chips on their shoulders. In hindsight a favor was probably done because if they care this little for their service then how does that bode for the cooking? I'm not giving my money or time to a place that employees oblivious, barely functioning Millennials who don't understand the concepts of basic customer service. And I don't want gross people with openly questionable hygiene anywhere near my food. Plenty of other restaurants to get a beer & burger from a staff lacking both an attitude & odor. Good job ruining a great place.
google avatar

Yelp
Dropped by McCrossen's Tavern for a drink. Since the night was warm-ish, we decided to sit outside. As expected, not much service when you're sitting outside! This bar seems very down to earth, which I like! They have a good selection of beers on tap, bottled beers, and cocktails. Side note for Californians: if you sit outside, there is a chance you will see cockroaches running around. NOT COOL.

Xiao Z.

Yelp
We came here for an early 10:30am brunch, right as this place opened, securing our coveted 8-person table. The staff were pretty friendly, although we were sad to learn the elusive endless mimosa deal was just a cruel joke on the interwebs. That being said, I did try a virgin bloody mary (don't laugh) and it was surprisingly spicy and full of flavor without much of the flare seen at other establishments (like bacon, celery and what have you). I ended up ordering the beets and smoked salmon dish and was a bit disappointed by the can-taste of the larger than life sized beets and the 4 slices of salmon slices. My wife got the waffle and meat dish and liked it, but I didn't get a chance to try it out. At the end of the day, McCrossen's is ok for brunch, but I'd avoid the beet salad.

Yelp
Three words: French onion soup. 5 stars just on that alone! But there's more! This is a really cozy place to grab a bite. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is friendly. We both had the burger and French onion soup and both were absolutely delicious! Staff was super friendly as well. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the city!

Great food and drinks as a neighborhood restaurant. The wings and mussels are a hit every time I visit.

Yelp
Had a nice meal her last week! Came on a Saturday night around 7:30, glad we made a reservation otherwise we would have had to wait as all the tables were filled. Not a huge place, but very charming and cute. We got draft beers and whipped ricotta for an app. It was delicious, wish it came with more bread, however as we quickly ran out. Our server definitely was busy with other tables so we didn't see him as quickly as we would have liked and often had to find him to ask for things we needed. For our entrees two of us got the burger and one of us got a seasonal flatbread. Everyone seemed very content with their meals, would def return!

Yelp
Best tavern in Philly! The staff is awesome and friendly. The best wings in the city and their burger is tops as well - get it with bacon, cheddar, and mushrooms. The perfect date place and also an awesome spot to unwind after a long day - great beer list with solid beer tap rotations and additions. Also - Jamie is legendary.

Yelp
Woke up wanting a GOOD Bloody Mary. Was really feeling a horseradish filled / super spicy one so my husband and I took to Google for ' the best bloody in philly'. We were guided to McCrossen's. We had high hopes, but were very let down in the bloody department. Although it was spicy it was mainly just hot sauce and it was pretty watery. So nothing special and definitely not the best, but for $5 it was decent. Our brunch meals however were excellent. I ordered the blueberry waffles which were so filling and fluffy. I will totally stop by here again for them without a doubt. My husband ordered two eggs and sausage and had no complaints either! -- Our server was friendly and sweet. We will definitely be back. Also their lunch menu looked great.

Yelp
Yep. McCrossen's has become one of my favorite bars in Fairmount. More specifically, I love to sit at the bar and day-drink here. That's been the trend so far, at least. They usually have some pretty good draft beers and their bottle list is okay. As for food, my stand-out favorite is the whipped ricotta app with grilled rustic bread. I could eat that stuff weekly. The burger is also good, but it can get pricey depending on how many toppings you'd like. Cheddar and bacon cost $1.75 extra. I'm sure I'll be back soon. Glad this place is nearby!

Yelp
We love coming to McCrossen's. It's our favorite, local "go-to" spot and is definitely a step up from your run-of-the-mill bar fare. Extensive beer selection with specials on tap. Food specials are always creative and tasty. Off the regular menu - everything is great. Hanger steak, mushroom flatbread, wings (awesome!!) and French onion soup are some of our faves. Pretty family friendly (there is a second dining area attached to the bar).
