McDonald’s Lawsuit Alleges Discrimination Against Black Executives and Employees | Eater

"Two senior franchising executives, Victoria Guster-Hines and Domineca Neal, filed a lawsuit in Illinois alleging a systematic purge and discrimination against African Americans in senior leadership and among franchisees — claiming that the company “demoted or severed ties” with 31 of 37 African American officers — and describing a hostile, abusive workplace that included threats, derogatory comments and racist slurs. The complaint accuses former CEO Steve Easterbrook and current CEO Chris Kempczinski of being overtly hostile to African Americans and of excluding them from diversity initiatives (citing Easterbrook’s 2016 remark that “diversity” meant “women” and Kempczinski’s 2019 comment that the “numbers [of African Americans] don’t matter”). It also alleges that rebranding toward a sleeker, more modern image under Easterbrook coincided with losses of African-American customers and franchisees, implying they did not fit the new image. The suit follows Easterbrook’s firing last year for a consensual relationship with an employee and the promotion of Kempczinski; the company responds that it disagrees with the complaint, notes that 45% of U.S. corporate officers are people of color and that all U.S. field vice presidents are people of color, and says it is reviewing and will respond to the allegations." - Jaya Saxena

This place offers standard service by today's standards. There were three employees standing right behind the register talking. There was one guy running orders and checking them. It appears he can run them but is not good at checking them. I ordered the two snack wrap meal and a ten piece nugget with sweet and sour. I think I got my frozen coke but since it was sitting up on the counter for a while before my food was ready, I'm not sure. The fries were good. The snack wraps were bad. One didn't have all the chicken in it and both were lazily rolled. The nuggets were usual but they didn't think I needed sauce. They also didn't think I needed a straw or napkins. I was not impressed with my visit but then again isn't that how fast food operates now days?

Went there with my wife and daughter. We're on a family vacation from Minnesota, We ordered a number 7, no mustard, no pickles, no onions, a number one, and # 5 five with small shakes. The lady taking our order messed it up completely. She was a very young lady, probably new. As we're waiting for our food, I see one of the cooks put his thumb all the way in his mouth, as if he burned his finger. I asked if somebody else could make our shakes because I just saw him put his hand in his mouth. The manager said (he will wash it). They did not give me one of the shakes. The young lady didn't type it in. I payed extra for it. They gave us one cheeseburger, only ketchup and mustard, and my daughter is not going to eat that mustard. Additionally we only got one cheeseburger instead of two.I went back in and said I had a problem they said I had to go back out to my truck and get the other cheeseburger.I said we only received 1 then they were going to give me one cheeseburger instead of two cheeseburgers because I only returned one. The manager was a brat, and Told me to go get my receipt, which I did. I ended up paying for an additional cheeseburger. Hope service around here is better than that. I'm glad I don't have to deal with this McDonald's regularly. We did send a review to whoever gets them when you send a review from the receipt.

Stopped at the McDonald’s inside Love’s — convenient location, but the experience was just okay. Food came out hot and accurate, no complaints there. That said, the dining area could use some serious attention. Tables were dirty, and it didn’t look like anyone was making an effort to clean them regularly. The front counter was slammed, so I had to use the kiosk. It got the job done, but a little more staff presence and attentiveness would go a long way. For a spot that gets a lot of traffic from drivers and travelers, they should take a bit more pride in keeping things clean and presentable. It’s all about the details.

There was seemingly only 1 person working and clearly she was exhausted. The fries were cold and old, our tea was sour, and we waited in the drive thru for 30-45 minutes. That lady should get a raise

Ordered a double quarter pounder with no cheese, but it had cheese on it. The French fries were okay. I went through the drive-thru because they have the kiosks inside where you order on a large screen and I refuse to use those. The experience would have been better had they gotten my food order correct. Waited a full 5 minutes in the parking lot for my drive-thru order to come out.

There is only a few parking spots here after the employees take there's. Then what do they do knowing this take away 10 more spots to put in 5 rv parking. Hopefully different franchise owners coming to Sherman.

The place is pretty clean, food mostly accurate, and staff generally pleasant. But I’ve grown weary of them not knowing how to fill a drink cup. I regularly get a drink handed to me that has nearly 25% empty space at the top, even for non-fizzy drinks like sweet tea. I’m not sure if it’s laziness or a strategy to save a few pennies but either way kinda ridiculous.

I am normally super critical of McDonald in general and avoid them at all cost. I had no choice as I was traveling and it was in with the Loves Truck Stop where I decided to stop with my RV for the night. I ran inside 10 minutes before closing expecting even worse service and food than normal. I was pleasantly surprised, no, make that SHOCKED! Not only were they all upbeat and super friendly younger ladies, but food was hot and fresh and dare I say it..... the best McDonald's I have had in YEARS! I normally only come to help for McDonalds give it appropriately low scores but this is the rare time I came to give them praise! Above and beyond....i am shocked their rating is so low but maybe they need to make these young girls managers or promote them. I was here 05/14/2025 at 11:43 pm order 247. If anyone that has anything to do with corporate reads this my info should be tied to my rewards app. Feel free to contact me. They are getting things right!

Recently came here because it was the only place for miles with hot food. The food prices here are ridiculously overpriced. The store did look nice but the lines are really long and you're stuck in this small truck stop. Settled for a McChicken and some fries that costed me close to $6 bucks

I put one star because negative 437 stars is not an option. I would absolutely not recommend this place. Go to Subway across the interstate or to Springfield for better service. This place is slow, lazy, and dirty. This is the final straw. We tried to order ice cream, didn't have it. We tried to order a coffee, nope. And we tried to order a soda, and it was flat. Never again, we will go to a place that actually cares. This is NOT the first time. I am also going to mention that the temperature was 98 degrees outside. There is no excuse for having the ice cream machine, coffee machine, slushy machine, and shake machine down. Our freezer was working just fine.

They screwed up my order 3 times. very sorry to inconvenience the girl working the window. third time I asked to speak to the manager. her reply was you are gonna have to wait. the manager is doing something else. rude please people if this is your work ethic don't demand and increase to minimum wage. you don't deserve what minimum wage was when I worked fast food. that was $6

Oh they seemed pretty busy for the more people that were in line. The workers at the front/cashiers were very good and very polite. The manager in the back that was wearing gray, named Damien, was yelling at staff loudly and also was not wearing a mask at all. They were there was another woman who also was working and yelling profanity to the staff in the back. I don't believe the management methods were the best at this site today. Food order was correct and

Take your expectations for a small-town McDonalds. Now lower them by 100x. Then prepare yourself for still, bitter disappointment. You'll ask yourself, "How is it possible to mess up this badly?" You will never find the answer...you'll have to tell yourself certainly they thought it was April Fools. Just how old does a piece of lettuce have to be to turn black? I'm scared to know! But it will still end up on your sandwich! Those "extra fries" in the Happy Meal actually will be no fries! I'll never eat here again. We threw all our food away. Paid $8 for a Hot Wheels toy. McDonald's corporate should take notice of all these reviews.

I just had one of the worst experiences. Order two burritos and a white milk. My burritos we're so overcooked. they must have been on the warmer since yesterday evening and they gave me milk that was expired! Go McDonalds

I came from California, I'm only visiting my family with my dad. We decided to drive to st Luis from Wisconsin and we stopped at the rest stop it's a gas station/McDonald's. I ordered a mix and match chick sandwich and a cheeseburger. I everything else was good as I start eating I decided to go with the chicken sandwich first but half way through my chicken sandwich I bite something hard it was a big piece of cartilage I pulled up from inside

Come for the breakfast, stay for the eternal relationships you'll form. You won't like yourself when you leave, but you probably didn't like yourself before you went in, and that's why you're at a McDonalds. All seriousness aside, the McGriddle is amazing, and will hold a place in the Smithsonian of my heart.

This was a small McDonald's, but it seemed clean and the workers were friendly. Our food came out quickly and everything tastes good and our order was correct. I enjoyed my Grilled Chicken Salad. The restaurant is in the same building as a gas station so it makes a convenient stop. The restrooms were also very clean.

This was a typical McDonald's for quick food. I did have to wait for my food for a little longer than I thought for a fast food place. The other customers seem to have been waiting as well. The food did seam to be ok thought. It is connected to a gas station.

McDonalds at Williamsville,IL must have the most incompetent dumbasses ever to work in a fast food restaurant. I ordered a Bacon McDouble with no onions at their drive-thru on Tuesday April 14, 2015. And, what did I taste when I but into it a few miles down the road, you guessed it onions. Went to the drive-up the next day, ordered the same thing, Bacon McDouble with no onion. They got the no onions part right, but I didn't get bacon on my sandwich like I paid for either. If they mess up my order again, a few people may be on the receiving end of a swift kick in the butt.

We got home and we were missing 3 meals and they just said oh we can have you just come pick it up we shouldn't have to check our bags at all but I guess since they can't ever get an order right we have to check our bags every time

On the road from Chicago and it's before the roosters wake up, yet you're famished and in need of a clean toilet and a place to stretch your legs, this is a great spot and easy to see from the highway. Fresh egg Muffin's and good unsweetened iced tea. Most of all, the bathroom facilities were clean and ample. No complaints here.

It's McDonald's. The food is the same everywhere. Crappy bad for you fast food which I'd sometimes a necessity when you're in the road. Which I am. Middle of freakin nowhere podunk Illinois. And at a gas station to boot. So I get why the cashiers can't smile. No "I'm lovin it" here. I suppose I'd be upset if I lived in the middle of nowhere, it's 30° outside, and I have to wait on food snobs like me. But can you muster up a smile? Customer service, after all, is the only thing that will make you stand out from the other bazillion McDonald's on the planet. So Miss Grouchy Pants... Two stars because of you. The place gets the two stars instead of one for the semi-clean eating area.

This is only ONE of the very few McDonald's that does not provide FREE Wi-Fi. This is hard to understand in this day-and-age. Employee appearance (in terms of cleanliness and professionalism) could also be improved First impressions DO make a difference. Locals seem to be apprehensive about using this restaurant for BOTH of these reasons. It is very busy, however, as it is located alongside and along with an inter-state truck stop. Food is McDonald's okay and counter-staff is personable. Return the FREE Wi-Fi !

Consistently the worst McDonald's I've ever had to go to. The reason I stop once in a while is because it's off the interstate between m work and home. Just left there and received nothing, pulled up at 11:41 pm and drove away at 11:57pm. Two cars in front, they've received their order and left in this time frame. I sat by myself in front of the speaker with no response way longer than I should've, at least 8 minutes, pull up to the window and got a dirty look from a worker inside and just saved my breath and drove away. Waste of time. They always take a ridiculous amount of time.

Our little son's favorite blanket was accidentally left behind at the McDonalds while on a road trip. Once we realized it was left behind we called to see if they could find it. They found it and then mailed it to us!! We are sooo grateful!!!
