Legen ... wait for it dary. Filled with entertainment, Irish Pub that inspired How I Met Your Mother series. There are lots of references on Menu, stuff around the walls. Overall, it was a nice experience. Highly recommend you making a reservation specially for evenings. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely a must visit places with friends.

Nothing super special, but a good and fun pub. Drinks were decently priced but needed mixed better. We had some of the how I met your mother cocktails and the spinach/artichoke dip appetizer. Server was friendly.... But it's really really loud and was difficult to hear each other. Not bad, but it's really just another pub.

If you are a huge fan for show HIMYM this is the perfect place for you. I got a robin sparkles and nachos which was so delicious. Our server was great and very welcoming. Would definitely return.😍

If you love how I met your mother look no further this is the place for you. It was just cool being there. Food was average but atmosphere was neat

Great Irish Pub and references to “How I Met Your Mother” since the creators of the show would come here every day to eat lunch and write. Ate here for lunch the day after Christmas. Food was great and drinks were good. Try the Bangers and Mash (see the photo)! TVs with sports, we watched the Liverpool match so that gets points from me as well! Definitely coming back next time I’m in New York. Good location to Times Square and Broadway. Nice bar area and an upstairs area for seating as well.

I only stopped in for a couple of drinks. Tables were full and bar half. Bartender was quick and friendly so no complaints from me. I'd definitely visit again

How I Met Your Mother Bar This bar is not a rebuild of the bar from the Series but more the Inspiration of the bar from the Series. Some People don’t understand that. We loved the Ambiente and the Service was a 10/10, the waitress even gave us recommends for our lasting time in New York. I can only recommend this Place and even recommend it more if you watched HIMYM

Went on a Friday night for a family dinner (a group of 4 diners). We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We appreciate that the music wasn’t too loud so it was pleasant experience overall. The only reason I’m taking away 1 star is the automatic 20% tip. I am really annoyed by this despicable practice. It essentially means that they deceptively publish prices on the menu that are 20% short of the real price.. Not cool!

had to pay tribute to himym and stop by mcgee's came with some coworkers to say bye to one leaving the city we ordered drinks and food but i just got food. the wine had a generous pour the onion soup was cheesy and flavorful- good price for the portion would recommend / order it again the spinach artichoke dip was a bit of a small portion but it was decent flavor nothing special i was disappointed that the bar didnt scream himym i didnt see many tributes to it our server was 10000/10 she was cool would probably not come again but as a himym fan ill recommend it

We went to this pub because it's themed after the TV show "How I Met Your Mother." However, when I arrived, it looked different from the show--specifically, the seating didn't resemble the layout from the series. While there are some similarities, it doesn't quite capture the same vibe, which was a bit of a disappointment. That said, the food and drinks were great, and they were showing sports games, which was nice.

The bar was decorated for Christmas, which added a festive touch. They have a lot of How I Met Your Mother memorabilia around the place, but overall, it felt underwhelming. We were seated by the women's bathroom, which only had a single stall and constantly had a line. It was an awkward spot to hold a conversation with people hovering near our table the entire time. The service was slow--it took so long to take our order that we only had time for two drinks before leaving. We tried the Wait For It... ($12.00) and Barney's Blackout ($13.00), but neither were particularly strong or well-crafted. It's worth a visit once to check out the bar that inspired HIMYM, but I wouldn't go in with high expectations.

Service was good but food was nothing extraordinary but still good. Definitely a place more known for HIMYM versus the food. Probably just a good place to go to for a quick drink and if you're a fan of the show. Ambiance was good and location is near Time Square.

I'm a fan of How I Met Your Mother so of course I had to visit this place! The booth and bar feel very similar to McLaren's. There's pictures on the wall from the show which was nice. We got seated at the bar and the bartender was nice and friendly. I got the pineapple incident (3.5/5) which tasted good. You barely taste the alcohol which makes me wonder how much alcohol you get to begin with. My bf got the don't drink tequila (3/5). It tasted strongly of ginger beer (almost too much ginger beer imo). Overall glad I visited this place while I'm in New York!

McGee's Pub Growing up How I Met Your Mother was one of my favorite shows, so I definitely had to see the inspiration. As someone who owns Barney's famous 'Ducky Tie' I had to get that as my drink. Ducky Tie: Bacardi Limon, Citronge Orange, Fresh Lime & Cranberry Juice (12). It was a very very good drink, and surprisingly, their drinks were not that expensive in comparison to the rest of New York. I had a great time sipping on their speciality drinks and looking around to see pictures of the crew. I will be back next time I visit NYC!

Came here with a friend for dinner! We weren't super hungry so ended up getting the nachos and the Mac'n cheese as a light dinner but found the portion sizes were huge! Everything was super tasty and far exceeded my expectations! What I thought would be a novelty bar turned out to serve super delicious food. The only downside is that the main dishes I.e. if you got a burger are pretty expensive. Close to $30 for a burger is pretty pricey - the nachos and mac' cheese were both under or around $20 which is not bad for the taste and portion! I'd come back to this spot for a bite!

I've been a fan of HIMYM since 2011 and to know that this was the bar that started it all, made me fan girl even more. Now the menu online was slightly different from the Holiday menu, no calamari but popcorn shrimp will do. That was the only food I ordered because after this visit, my friend and I, are headed to Ichiran which was like a nine minute walk so just drink and appetizer. So it just give us another excuse to book another trip to NYC and get food from here and see how good it is. The popcorn shrimp was hot and crunchy, perfect to share and reasonable price, can't come here without getting a drink, so I got two instead. LMAO. I couldn't decided Robin Sparkles and S.O.B., so I got both. LOL Let's go to the mall.....TODAY!! and you know Lily and her evil look/eye...and how she says sonnnn of a bitchhhhh aka S.O.B. Overall, the vibes and servers were really nice and fast. We didn't have to wait that long for a party of two, if you're in a party of four or more, it might be a little wait. They also have upstairs sitting, with a bar if you just wanted to order drinks. Can't wait to come back and yes they have restroom, upstairs and downstairs.

Strolled into McGees because it's part of my favorite show. How I met your mother! I will say upon walking in, I was expecting it to look like the show but I was catfished for sure, it looked nothing like the bar they had on the show. The ambiance is relaxed and the service is laid back. The drinks were wonderful! Overall not bad, but not the best.

off the bat, the waitress near the bar was kind of snooty. It got better from there. We were escorted upstairs by a young gentleman who then gave me a Coke instead of Diet Coke. I FEAR full fat Coke. I was terrified, thankfully he brought me a new one without even having to ask. food was spot on, i HOUSED a 12oz steak. the fries/potato wedges were good. I met your mother was filmed there and it's their life story but it was fine

I said it once and I will say it again, they make a very good Shepards pie, which I would recommend pairing with a pint or two of Guinness. They have a bit of a claim to fame as the inspiration for McLaren's Pub on the hit TV series How I Met Your Mother and offer tours with discounts on food and drink. Although I understand the benefits of riding the coat tails of inspiration for how I met your mother, the pub clearly doesn't strive to be the best. They can pour a good beer or a glass of whiskey, but I would definitely not take a gamble on their mixed drinks, especially the old fashioned. I love to experience an Irish pub that has aged well, and this one is aging, but not all that well and as a result the ambiance seems to have gone from nostalgic to just another pub with TV's. My next visit to the area will most likely not include a stop here. Cheer!

The bar doesn't look like the show but it does well keeping with the theme by having HIMYM posters. The drinks weren't very strong and the food was decent. Probably wouldn't come again but it was cool to see it once

Went here with my best friend during our visit to NYC as we both are big fans of HIMYM. The establishment looked exactly how you'd imagine and it felt as if we were hanging out with Ted Mosby and the gang. I ordered the Ducky Tie and my best friend ordered the naked man. Both drinks tasted great. Food was average but nothing special. Overall enjoyed our time and experience!

McGee's is a traditional Irish pub with a variety of TVs for sports viewing. Situated on West 55th between Broadway and 8th Ave, it's in a prime position to accept mobs of patrons disgorged from broadway theaters and Carnegie Hall. Arriving after 10 PM, you're just as likely to see hockey fans catching the game as a symphony orchestra enjoying their afterparty. McGee's runs a complex operation with a relatively small staff that all work their asses off. Be patient when it's busy and tip big. If you're lucky enough to get seats at the bar during peak hours, expect a lot of action and movement around you. If you plan to order four courses of food, sitting at a table would provide more elbow room and a somewhat more relaxed atmosphere. There's also an upstairs, though I've never seen it and I can't speak to what goes on up there. McGee's is consistent, a favorable factor which goes far in my books. The food is fine, though I tend to stick with the less fancy fare. There's a vibrant social atmosphere which makes it an easy place to meet people; the level of conversation also provides cover if you want to be left alone. McGee's is one of those rare places where you can truly have it all (as long as they keep playing the Minnesota Wild playoffs games).

A smaller spot just north of Times Square with a How I Met Your Mother Theme. We were told that the show writers used to come to this bar and then drew some inspiration from this spot for the TV show. They have fun drinks that are based off of iconic moments from the TV show and fresh, hot food coming out of the kitchen. It's worth a quick stop in just to see all of the HIMYM decor and to try one of their themed drinks... like the Robin Sparkles!

Simply because HIMYM is my all time favorite show I went to this gem. The staff is super nice, loved the Rosè they had and had the chicken noodle soup which was delish. It has two floors, tvs everywhere and genuinely looks like a great spot for drinks and hanging out with friends If you love HIMYM make sure you visit!!!

Disappointing. Service was not great, only one server for seating that wasn't at the bar and it filled up after we arrived. Our drinks tasted watered down and were not enjoyable. Asked for the check to be split server acknowledged as though she understood but alas the it was not and had to asked again. So enjoyed my visit there last year and had hope for a similar experience this time. Just fell short.

Came in today, wanted to order a drink, and was met very hostile by the server. I get it was a couple minutes before closing time but I felt really uncomfortable. He asked me how many drinks I had and asked me where I was at prior in the night. Again I get its closing time but it just felt off.

Cool Irish pub. The food was good. I had sliders and fries. Nothing super special but good. The atmosphere and service is the reason to stop. The bartender was super nice and very attentive. Not much more to say. I'd stop again.

We randomly ended up here because we need to cool down with beer, it was really hot outside and we needed some break. Yes, AC definitely helped as it was hot as hell outside lol We sat at the bar and only had drinks... we stuck with the beers. Service was quick and they checked on us often. The other gentleman that came later was very talkative and engaging, so that was nice. Enjoyed our time here, definitively would be back next time we are in NYC area.

Visiting NYC and stopped by for a drink around 6ish and to check out the HIMYM theme since the show's bar was inspired by this place. The service was slow as they had only one bartender. The drinks were not that strong and didn't have flavor. When the bill came, the tip was automatically included and the receipt was asking for an additional tip. I didn't notice it until I re-read the bill. Make sure you read the bill carefully prior to payment.

Shout out to all of the How I Met Your Mother fans out there!! I heard McGee's Pub was the inspiration for the beloved McLaren's pub that the show's main characters frequented. So naturally while in New York I HAD to go!! My friend and I took a similar pose outside of the bar as the cast did during their visit. When we came inside, I instantly told the staff that I came all the way from California to pay my homage as a die hard How I Met Your Mother Fan!! We were fortunately enough to sit at the booth with the HIMYM cast photo. It was THEE booth to be at if you are a HIMYM fan. Their drink menu has all the stuff you would see at a pub and also a few specialty cocktails that are HIMYM cocktails. My friend went with the Ducky Tie ($12) that has bacardi limon, citronge orange, fresh line and cranberry juice and I went with the Robin Sparkles ($13) that has crown royal, apple pucker and cranberry juice. Our waitress was nice enough to take a photo of us at the booth and even better when she told us to look at each other and do a *cheers*, just as the cast of HIMYM was doing in their photo. Love love love it!! We also shared a Baked Potato Skins ($14) that took a while to came out but the wait was worth it. It looks really plan but it was surprisingly tasty for bar food. The baked potato skins had mozzarella, cheddar and a generous amount of bacon bits with sour cream on the side. There was 6 pieces so we had 3 each and it fueled our adventures for the next trek before dinner. I also purchased a shirt from them that says "It's going to be LEGEN- **wait for it** DARY". LEGENDARYYYYYYYYY!! Cheers to a good time with good friends. Highly recommend for all the die hard HIMYM fans out there, but honestly if you aren't a HIMYM fan it's pretty much a mediocre random pub in a sea of many many other options in NYC.

We loved McGees. Staff was friendly, order came out quickly and tasted great, we never felt rushed and loved all the HIMYM decor.

McGee's Pub is our go-to place for lunch whenever we go to NYC. Great location near the theater district, food and service always excellent.

I have always wanted to come here because the creators of How I Met Your Mother frequented this bar and is what ultimately impaired the bar in the show. It is your typical Irish bar with HIMYM photos on the wall. I liked the atmosphere and it was nice to see the signed pictures. I didn't come in expected a five star meal and overall I thought my burger was very good! The prices are a little expensive, but that comes with the territory of coming to eat dinner in NYC. The service was quick, and everyone was nice. When we're back in the city, I would definitely come again.

As most of y'all here, I came here as a tourist attraction while in New York. I love HIMYM and wanted to see the bar it was inspired from. And from my experience, I think they know exactly that bc that's all they have working for them. Besides the photos on the wall, its not like the show, and that wasn't the problem because the pictures were nice. But even for an Irish pub, this place feels so basic. The food is awful. I had the salmon and it tasted old. The vegetables had zero seasoning. My kids said their burger tasted like cardboard. The service was even worse. We waited for 5 mins for someone to even acknowledge us after we sat down. After they took our order, we never saw the waitress again until i flagged her for the check. It was buss boys who brought out our food and gave ha refills, mind you, the place was mostly empty on our side. They took so long to acknowledge us after dropping off the food, that I seriously contemplated leaving since the food was terrible anyway and they sat us by the door. When the check came, there was already a 20% tip added even though it was just 3 of us. It makes sense why they dont give a damn about service, because theyre getting a tip regardless. Definitely not worth the money. If you're going for the show, get drinks only, which also werent great.

Ok so first, I have never seen How I Met Your Mother (I know I know), but obviously I've heard of the show. That being said, this pub being part of the inspiration for the show wasn't a draw for me, but nevertheless is pretty cool. The bartender took a bit to acknowledge me even though it wasn't super busy, but once he did he seemed to be a really nice guy and checked up on me. I went with a draught Guinness which was poured properly and tasted fresh. I also got the McGee's Burger which is a burger with cheese, bacon, and sautéed onions. It was a tad on the pricey side ($20) but was very good. The burger was cooked properly (I ordered it medium) and the side of wedge fries was a pretty generous portion. There's a good vibe in the place and although there is an upstairs, I didn't get to venture up there. I would definitely return.

I had my birthday party here last night and it was an amazing experience! The private room was very affordable for NYC and fit a lot of people. The bartenders and overall staff (shoutout to Frank) were really nice and easily accommodating. Didn't have any food but the drinks were really good and fairly priced as well. Highly recommend for private parties!!

Food was very good! I really enjoyed my cheese burger and the Mac and cheese. Prices are a bit on the higher side how ever reasonable for being located near Times Square! Wait staff was friendly!

I enjoyed my first visit to this pub. The staff members were amazing and the food options were varied. The daily drink options helped set the mood for lunch with friends. I enjoyed the Chicken Quesadilla from the appetizer menu along with a refreshing Cranberry Margarita! This is the kind of place where you want to go and indulge with friends for a few hours. I enjoyed the vibe. The other patrons were friendly as well. For dessert, I had the Housemade Apple Pie, it was scrumptious! I look forward to another visit when I next visit The Big Apple.

THIS IS THE HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER BAR. Yesterday, we wanted to go to Columbus Circle's Holiday Market. We found it after a loooong walk across Central Park. It was packed! I'm not talking packed where you can move around freely. I'm talking shoulder to shoulder, no movement happening. We decided to abandon our plans and head over to McGees, an amazing Irish pub, just a couple of blocks away. I'm pretty sure everyone who works here is from Ireland. Our server was, and she was amazing! I've never had a bad bar experience in New York City. These people are professionals. I loved this pub so much. Long and narrow, traditional bar. Unbelievable beer options. It was really crowded, but we got a table. It was a lucky Saturday for us. My wife and I had a couple of local IPAs and shared some potato skins. Had a couple more beers before heading out. Please check this place out if you are in the City. If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Central Park and Columbus Circle, go here. Also, it's pretty close to Times Square.

Food was yummy! Stopped by because I am a super fan of How I Met Your Mother and it did not disappoint. All the drinks have cute names as inside jokes from the show! It was awesome. The bartenders even have genuine Irish accents. One of a kind experience.

This bar was so reminiscent of the show How I Met Your Mother! If you're a HIMYM fan, I would definitely recommend this bar. There are so many quirky cocktails based off of the show and the pub definitely is the inspo for the show. The people there were so kind and also appreciated the show! The drinks we got were the "Wait for it..." and the "Pineapple Incident."

This place is a nice little gem and very reasonably priced,fast service and very good staff and the food is good too.The Ambiance was amazing as all the TVs were on as the place was buzzing.

We just stopped for a quick drink before our tickets to 007. Really cute place. We sat at the bar. I had patron cafe and root beer. It was so good. A few of those and I could be in trouble. Beers were a bit much. $11 on tap. Bartender was nice. I'd go back.

We got in right away but weren't handed a menu at all. There's a QR code on the table where you can order drinks but didn't include food at all. Overheard the server saying to a different table the food menu was on the QR code that has the wifi username and password. Finally the server came over and asked if we needed anything. We said we ordered drinks from the QR code. If you have apple you need apple pay set up to do it, or if android, you need google pay set up. Food wasn't anything special but still good and came out warm.

Good vibes, my go-to pub in midtown west. Good beer. Their veggie burgers are way to small and they don't even give you tomato, lettuce and onion. I keep going there but I wish their veggie burgers were better. I also think I was over charged when I was there last Sat: saw the cc charge when I got home....$35.28 for the burger and a draft beer.... no one answers the phone there so I gave up. UPDATE: The manager Frank reached out to me immediately and has corrected my bill, which he agreed was a computer error. He was awesome! He said there were some phone issues this week...... AND he is going to not only remedy the small burger situation but he is also going to buy me a beer next time I am there. Fantastic customer service.... Thank you so much for caring, Frank!!

We came here on our trip because we are huge HIMYM fans! We were very excited to see the place that inspired Mclarens Pub and enjoy some themed cocktails. The place is super cute, it's a very small dark bar with HIMYM cast pics sprinkled around. Our server was very nice and definitely on top of things. Our drinks , the Robin Sparkle and Purple Giraffe were great and we enjoyed the nostalgic names. We were asked if we wanted an app like a hummus plate and we said since we do love a good hummus plate. We should have looked at the menu first, the plate was 14.99 and not worth half of that. A few cucumber slices, some sliced mini cherry tomatoes and pita bread with the worst hummus I've ever had. It was extremely dry, it looked and tasted old and just dried out. I definitely would go for the drinks, just maybe not the appetizers.

THE TIP IS INCLUDED in the bill. We came because like HIMYM. It does not resemble the bar from the show but to my understanding it served as an inspiration to the show so the lack of similares are understandable. The service was ok. The bar was clean.

This pub was so close to our hotel and with my husband being a McCracken and our friends being the McDowells we had to go. It was pretty packed so we didn't get to sit at the bar but had a great Irish server at our table. We loved to see how the bar was the inspiration for How I Meet Your Mother...great pics and names for drinks

Excellent atmosphere, kind, fun, and attentive staff! Food choices are on point with a bit of everything. Shepherds Pie is amazing! Don't skip on the cocktails or desserts either!

Drinks: 4/5 Menu is full of your run of the mill pub drinks but also specialty cocktails. Drinks were good! The "How I Met Your Mother" inspired cocktails are a nice touch. I had the "Pineapple Incident" ($13) which was sweet and well priced compared to your average NYC cocktail. Service: 4/5 Went on a Wednesday night because other spots in the area were packed! We were immediately welcomed and it was pretty full for a weekday but we were able to get a booth. Our waitress was very friendly and gave great recommendations! It did take some time for us to get our drinks but understandable due to the place being busy. Vibe: 2/5 I've only seen like two episodes of HIMYM so I'm not a huge fan (but I am one of the few people that love the HIMYF spin-off). I went with someone who was a huge fan but didn't think the bar resembled the show that much as a fan. To me, it just seemed like your average pub. The pictures of the cast in the show were a cool touch! If you're a HIMYM fan, I would recommend this place just know before you go that it's not going to look exactly like the bar in the show.
