The Best Houston Restaurants and Bars With Live Entertainment | Eater Houston

"This iconic Upper Kirby restaurant and bar has been devoted to supporting local live music acts since the ‘90s. McGonigel’s showcases eight shows per week, including some that require no cover charge, and as a bonus, makes them available to stream online. The 10 Best Restaurants And Bars For Watching Live Music In Houston

"McGonigel’s Mucky Duck Pub has been around since 1990 and remains one of the best listening venues in Houston. The low-lit, intimate den with great acoustics is open until midnight most nights, and the plush curtains draping the stage add to the “shh, we’re listening to music” vibe. But it’s not all about live performances. Mucky Duck’s Irish bar food is worth the price of admission alone. The scotch egg wrapped with perfectly seasoned breadcrumbs has the perfect crunch. Just don't forget to purchase your tickets online because they don’t sell tickets at the door." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi

A pour of their best Irish beer (they even have a Guinness trophy to prove it) is the best way to start the evening, along with the scotch egg wrapped in perfectly seasoned breadcrumbs. 14 Lively Irish Pubs to Grab a Pint in Houston | Eater Houston

"This Upper Kirby favorite is equal parts live music venue and Irish pub. As evidenced by the Guinness trophy proudly displayed throughout the bar, the pours here are serious. Grab a pint of either of the Irish classics — Guinness, Harp, or Smithwick’s — while chowing down on some Celtic pub grub. From Welsh Rarebit, scotch eggs, to the classic Ploughman’s Lunch, a traditional cheese, bread, mustard, and pickle plate, the menu reads as an education in casual Irish cooking. Word to the wise: The church pew seats are some of the best in the house, but the entire spot is cozy and welcoming."

A Houston staple. I’ve been coming here for decades and the staff is always great, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting! The Irish session on Wednesday nights is a highlight as well as all the performers that come through! I highly recommend you catch a show or just hang out for dinner!

Enjoyable. My wife and I occasionally attend live music events at the Mucky Duck. This evening, there was a performance by the Beat Root Revival, an eclectic group which I wasn’t previously familiar with. Our table, meanwhile, was perfectly located stage right. A Scottish lad, our server, was attentive and friendly. Our meal and drink selections were top notch, as always. The concert, enjoyable! Ours, was another perfect evening at the Mucky Duck! Will be back!

It was our anniversary, and I must say, the country act singer was absolutely incredible! Everyone made us feel so welcome and congratulated us, which added to the joy of the day. I also want to share my thoughts on the food, particularly the soup and shepherd's pie. I had never tried shepherd's pie before, but it was truly amazing! I was initially curious about the greens served on the side, wondering why they were included. However, once my husband and I tasted it, we were blown away by how delicious it was. The greens perfectly complemented the dish, making our first experience with shepherd's pie unforgettable. As for the soup, at first, I felt like it was missing something, but the more I ate, the more flavors unfolded. It was simply delightful! Overall, our entire experience was exceptional, making it the best day ever.

Google
What a cool place! It's off the beaten path, so I never would have found it if we didn't have concert tickets there. It's a quaint and intimate place, it felt like you were stepping right into a pub in Ireland, no longer in Houston. The historic photos on the walls were so much fun to look at. Just such a great vibe. The manager was awesome, playful and very inviting. Our server was great, even with how busy she is was! I loved that they asked for conversations to be kept down during the performance, so we could enjoy it. And enjoy it we did! Lovely little place! I will definitely be coming back here!

Google
Such a fun time! Fantastic food! We were there for Shake Russell and had a great time! I cannot remember our wonderful bartenders name but he was a gentleman and was magical. I'll be back again. If you've not been here it's an incredible place! The decor is amazing and check out all those photos of singers that you might know! The food was incredible as was our wonderful bartenders service!

Google
The show I’m here for hasn’t started yet and the fish and chips are a solid B+, but they have four distinct mocktails and they’re all delicious. If they add a savory mocktail I will give them a fifth star. EDIT THIRTY MINUTES LATER: the bartender just gave me a sour-and-spicy off-menu mocktail that he’s been working on and it’s great. Fifth star awarded.

Yelp
I have been sleeping on the Mucky Duck for the last four years! This local pub in Kirby was so charming - with an eclectic interior (I loved the stained glass paintings and upholstered chairs). The food, service, and live music (we saw a folk-rock band) were also excellent. The only thing that caught us off guard was that their fountain sodas and other fountain drinks were not refillable, and they didn't inform us of that. So, it was surprising to be charged quite a bit for a mostly ice-filled coke. Despite this, I suspect most people going there will be ordering alcohol, so they shouldn't have this issue.

Yelp
I went here last Thursday for Jon Muq concert & a girls night! The food and drinks were very delicious and the staff as well as the talent was very friendly it's an intimate venue with a speakeasy/retro steakhouse vibe. I really enjoyed the little bit of time we got to spend out there. The unfortunate thing is that they double book concerts so one is right after the other so if your artist doesn't have a long set you will be asked to leave the building unless you pay for the table again for the next show. They do let sit outside which brings me to my next gripe. Their outdoor patio leaves much to be desired. The seating is not very comfortable. There is no bar out there so you have to served by wait staff(they were attentive to us) but it can feel like a forgotten area since there is no music, no staff out there and no way to cool yourself in the summers. If there were some fans or nets to keep mosquitoes away it might make being sent to the patio not seem like a punishment. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because I liked so many things but being forced outside not long after the show really ruined the mood for the night.

Yelp
This was my first time at the Mucky Duck. We didn't try any food because we had dinner beforehand but they have a full bar, food and desserts. The venue live broadcast their shows so servers have to be quiet when coming to tables. This is a small venue but it is very intimate

Yelp
This venue would not traditionally be my cup of tea, however, on this particular night I had a craving for chicken or beef pot pie. As you may guess, you can count on one hand how many Houston restaurants serve pot pie (really if you want the exact list, let me know...). After an extensive search (researching more than I'd like to admit), I landed on this spot. Yelp helped me understand the atmosphere before I arrived, and a quick search clarified that it was indeed open mic night. 30 minutes and a drive later, our butts were in eccentrically decorated seats, listening to some original local music artist belt their heart out. I grabbed an Irish old fashioned because "when in Rome", and had my wee three pot pies in a reasonable amount of time (although the waitstaff was spread thin). Although the crust arrived a bit overdone, all three pies (the Shepards pie, the chicken pot pie, and the steak and mushroom pie) were comforting and tasty! The warm, rich flavors of the chicken pot pie were worth every carb, and open mic night was a nice break from our traditional dine. Dark, dank, and delicious would be the three words I'd use to describing this spot. Although it's not my first choice, I'll definitely have to revisit on another night! It's a nice little haven for intimate concerts.

Yelp
We always enjoy visiting the MD and tonight was no exception. Music by James McMurtry was amazing. Our waitress was great as well. In fact, all the staff are talented. They weave in and out of tight spaces all evening. Food is good, not the best but honestly, everyone comes here for the music in an intimate setting. I especially appreciate the wine list. Everyone needs to visit this Houston icon at least once!
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
The Mucky Duck will not let you down, a Houston staple for live music and mouth watering food with an incredibly diverse and vast wine selection. There is nothing like this anywhere. Make sure you get your chance to spend an evening here soon!

Yelp
Entertainment and atmosphere was really good!! The WORSE St Patty's Day corned beef ever. Cold dry sandwich meat. No spices or flavor. I looked forward to the dish they served a few years back that was full of juicy flavor and tenderness. Today was hot beer, cold Irish coffee and cold bland food.

Yelp
Three days into Beryl with no power, I was hungry for comfort food. My pup and I settled ourselves on the side patio. We called in our order and it was out in no time! Amazing fish and chips. Our server and we both agreed, easiest order and experience ever! My pup wanted a few chips and I needed my Mucky Duck Fish n Chips! So many places were still closed and we found the perfect empty spot to dine and rejuvenate while supporting this hidden gem.

Yelp
This is a late review. A couple girlfriends and I came out to see Bonnie Bishop last month in June. Both the show and the staff were great! The waitress was attentive, yet not overbearing. I've been here before, but it was in 2016 I believe. The food was soooo good, and the drinks were on point! My girlfriends enjoyed the drinks this time around as well, I didn't partake.. but I'll be back again I'm sure.

Yelp
Cannot tell you how much we love this place. Great food, the beef stew was amazing and we really enjoyed seeing Bob Schneider.

Yelp
Went there today after the storm because they said all were welcome. They must have meant all were welcome but us. We sat there and saw multiple tables come and go and we were never brought our food. I kept waving my hands to try and get a waiter or our waitress, but it was like we were invisible. Just to get a glass of ice was near impossible. My sister had to get up to ask someone. We were just about to walk out at the 3 hour mark and the waitress finally brought our food. I asked her why she ignored me when she could clearly see me trying to get her attention. She has peripheral vision. She makes up a bogus excuse that the kitchen had lost our ticket. Only thing I noticed is we were the only Hispanic people in the place. I got the message, we won't be back. Every table around us, despite arriving way after us got their food immediately, we were the only ones who were ignored. I almost wanted to burst out crying, I had never been treated that way in my life.

Yelp
Hard to believe this was my first time here. We were invited by friends who had a table to see Hamilton Loomis (www.HamiltonLoomis.com). We were blown away with the quality of sound and music from such a small venue. On Saturdays, they have an early show (7:00pm) and a late show (9:30pm). I know you Yelp youngsters love staying out till all times of the night, or should I say morning but us older folk love getting our partyin done early so we can do what we're supposed to do after 10pm...sleep! I digress. Anyhoo, our friends have literally been following Hamilton Loomis for two or more decades so we knew we were in for a treat. The show did not disappoint. The smallness of the venue gave us an up close and personal concert. The food and waitstaff were also good. We were early because we wanted to eat prior to the show starting vs during the show. Either is acceptable if you go to the early show. The food is exactly what you would expect at an Irish pub. The menu includes a variety of sandwiches, fish & chips, and shepherd pies. I heard the shepherd pies were good but I didn't want anything that heavy. I went with the Mark Portugal sandwich. Ask your server about the ingredients and toppings. It's their best seller (the menu claims) so I gave it a try. It was exactly the type of sandwich I expected from a pub. Since they are an full-fledged pub, the drink menu is wide. Most of the wines are sold by the bottle with a price range from the mid $40's to $350 plus. The spirits are plentiful as is the beer (both bottled and on tap). Both street and private lot parking are available. Both are free. There isn't a valet. Don't leave valuables in your car. This is Houston, people. Have some common sense. Bottom line - Excellent venue for live music. Decent food and a large drink list. The music alone earns this pub a five-star rating. The food and drinks are just an add-on. I hope y'all enjoy the show. Bon appétit, y'all.

Jerry Y.

Yelp
Great Irish pub. Used to go there all the time in the past. Jimmy LaVave, Kelly Willis, those Robison guys, the Greencards, on and on. Used to be able to check out bands I wasn't familiar with for like $20 a show, and find golden treasures, especially for here in Houston. Went in there recently in the afternoon for a beer and saw Rusty. Went up to tell him how great a place this was. He looked at me with disdain and said "where you been?". Truth is, you can't go there just to check out a band anymore. It costs an arm & leg just to get a table - it's now an overpriced dinner club. I always thought this was our answer to the Austin music scene. For whatever reason, that's gone now. I'll always remember the good times.

Yelp
The place has potential for a place to have a drink, but I would not recommend going there to eat. The service was lacking. Not sure service is what you can call what they provided us that night actually. Did not matter if I would have liked a second drink, nobody bothered checking on us after they dropped off our food (half of which was dropped off the plate by the server, and not replaced). And no, they were not busy, there were several employees, which was more than enough to manage only four or five other tables. If you are not a regular in the place, I suggest you go to the bar to order.

Yelp
Great Ambiance. Service was fantastic. We tried the fish and chips during the show and it was delicious. Greta venue for intimate concerts

Yelp
We have been to the Mucky Duck numerous times over the past several years. It's a cozy pub where we can enjoy good food and a fun show. Service is always fantastic and it is one of our favorite places.

H R.

Yelp
This is an excellent small venue to see acoustic music. There is easy, plentiful parking in the adjacent lot and on the street. There is not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are very good. Restrooms are easily accessible. There is seating at 2, 4, and 6 seat tables, also bar seating, with unobtrusive waitress service during shows. However, everything is quite expensive. They have a full food and drink menu, but it was pricey. We may be back to listen to music, but will eat elsewhere before hand and limit our drinking while we are there.
google avatar

Krystle B.

Yelp
It was cool. My husband enjoyed the beer selection. They had a great spirits collection. The food was good. Except they didn't season the sweet potato chips. So those were a let down. I don't go to the part of town often, but they were pricy. I took the reasoning to be the surrounding area. I didn't get to see the inside because of there being live music, but the outdoor seating was good. The server was wonderful! I'd go back again.

Yelp
I went last night to see Jackie Venson perform. Her set was incredible. My husband and I love rock music. It was nice to hear someone with a signature sound. The venue is quaint, clean, and everyone is ready for a good time. We ordered a few cherry stouts. Delicious. Also the burger was pretty good. I especially enjoyed the mustard. It has horseradish in it. The fries were better than I expected. The only thing I didn't enjoy were the pub crisp. They lacked salt and had a weird after taste. I look forward to coming back. Street parking is available. The service is friendly and the food is decent.

Matt D.

Yelp
Went to see a live show here. Great atmosphere and excellent sound inside. The Shepards pie was excellent and the Irish beers were delicious. In fact all the pies were hot and tasted fresh. The staff was fast and friendly. We look forward to visiting here again!
google avatar

Polad G.

Yelp
Visited for first time and enjoyed every minute of it. You will see live performance, enjoy the good customer service, delicious food and enjoy good drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Let me say, the best Irish / Scottish bar in Houston! Ambience is great, and the service is knowledgeable although sometimes slower than I'd like outside. The food is always great! I mean really great. I had theIr take on the bacon turkey avocado sandwich - it was perfect but a little pricey. The prices for the beer is a little above Noel's as well, but their selection makes it worth the price. I'd give it a 5 stars for everything but the price, which is more like a 3 but perfection isn't cheap.
google avatar

Yelp
Great live music and performances. Cool drinks and interesting menu. We only had drinks but for sure will be eating next time.

Yelp
The environment is perfect for it being a listeners lounge. They encourage you to be silent during the show to really enjoy the music. So get there at least an hour before so you can enjoy dinner before it starts. The staff is super friendly and really know every item on the menu. We decided to order multiple items to share. The Pub Crisps were crunchy, crispy, and flavorful, plus that savory semi-spicy dipping sauce was perfect! Next was the Pub Salad. It's a greens salad with carrots, tomatoes, peppers, and the salad dressing was a creamy curry sauce. It was delicious and made every ingredient pop. Finally, instead of ordering one whole pie, we ordered the Wee-Trio which came with mini versions of their Shepard's Pie, Steak and Mushroom Pie, and their Chicken Pot Pie! Y'all, it was so difficult to decide which one was our favorite. Every pie had their own strengths and delectable tastes. Eventually I said, "If I can take the filling of the steak and mushroom pie, mix it with the roasted vegetables from the chicken pot pie, and top it with the mashed potatoes from the shepherd's pie, I think it'd be the absolute most perfect pie!"

Brad H.

Yelp
I had not been here in years, and I am sad that I haven't. My return was really great. The seating was nice, the waiter was great, and the food was really good. You have to love a place like this with an artsy music scene and good drinks and food. I will be back!

Yelp
In a large city where Irish pubs are surprisingly spartan The Muck gives you the Liz Lemon business you are missing from more classical Irish pub cities like Flipadelphia or New Orleans. The draft list is well curated to offer you some hard to locally-find ones, some high ABV ones which are the gentlesir's favourite, and then the common ones for the "picky" high maintenance drinkers you might bring here on a tinder date that are in your "whatever I can get" bucket when you are playing the online roulette version of the meat market. Open mic night is an experience in several ways. Even your first time here you can tell that many of the performers are regulars, like years or decades of regular-ness. Some of them have very good relationships with the stage manager. Others, less so. One guy that seemed to be on the sour end of the relationship with the stage manager brought on the stage manager to play second guitar for some songs on his performance. The stage manager obliged. The guy got something more than nothing, but with no enthusiasm or flare. Then a lady a few performances later that clearly had a much better relationship with the stage manager brought him on, and the guy played like he was auditioning for an AC/DC cover band - he was really good! Very enthusiastic kicking out the jams. But clearly had held back with the earlier musician. With true Irish spirit this joint also is a community meeting space for various groups, political and non. The patio out back offers you a different experience when you want to get into more quiet surroundings and/or spread out a little more than you can do inside. All in all one of my favourite watering holes, bar bite providers, and community meating spaces in the city. Also I dropped my Juul on the back patio once and the waiter kindly returned it to me, so they are honest here too which is important. Guy earned his tip the olde fashioned way that night - but just the tip.

Yelp
Excellent live music venue. I'm not sure there's a more intimate stage in Houston, especially one that draws that level of talent. I was invited out by a friend who had reserved a table for a Kevin Russell show and we were blown away, not only by Kevin's awesome set, but by the food, drinks, and service. Mucky offers a full menu of stick to your ribs pub food, along with a deep list of drinks, all ready to be enjoyed while you tap your toe to the show. Everything came out promptly, and was delicious. I haven't had a chance to check out their back patio but noticed they have ample seating outside as well, for those not wanting to stay indoors too long. Overall, I highly recommend checking the place out, whether it's to see a concert, or simply a pint.

Yelp
It's a wonderful an rather intimate venue. It's fun and they have good food and drinks. You will be able to see some wonderful bands but you need to jump on the tickets early!!! They have quality entertainment that fills up quickly!

Yelp
We are visiting from out of town and came here on a whim to avoid loitering at the hotel with nothing to do. So glad we decided to venture here. It's a Wednesday night and they have the "Irish Session". Super casual live music where several musicians come and play together. Basically an Irish jam session. The music was very enjoyable and the musicians very talented. We had already eaten dinner before coming here, but we instantly regretting our prior dining the minute we walked in. The food smelled absolutely delicious. The table next to us got fish & chips and shepherds pie, and we overheard them talking about how good their food was. We did hear them comment that the fish & chips was a bit better than the pie. Our drinks were great. I had an Irish old fashioned which was quite good, and we both ended up having two Irish coffees each. My wife and I both agree that these were the best hot alcoholic beverages we've ever had. Since we ended up hanging out as long as we did, we also splurged and got dessert. We ordered the skillet cookie which was delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and will keep it in mind for a meal next time we're in town.

Yelp
First time to the Mucky Duck to see Charlie Mars. Great intimate venue. Wife and I loved the food and beers! We started with the baked Brie, awesome! Then we tried the pot pie trio. All were great but we both LOVED the steak pot pie the most. We will be back!

Yelp
The Mucky Duck could do easily earn 5 stars from me. It is such a well run place, with amazing bookings and excellent service. But to win the 5th star, they need to take a hard look at their kitchen. The food menu is excellent for an Irish pub; cheers to that. But when my mac and cheese arrived, I felt like I'd gone to Velveetalandia. As for my partner's fish n chips, de rigeuer for the menu of any Irish pub, chips that should've arrived red hot were tepid at best. As I bit into the congealed spear, I felt let down. McGonigel's, you can do better!
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Dark, cozy, and far from the pond's edge, a muck with the duck is one of the best pub experiences this side of the Isles. You may even be blessed with inspiration to come back for more. This is a five-star pub experience, not the Queen's table. Just remember your place...aye, Boyo? The weather outside may be 90+ degF at 96% humidity, but the hearty dishes inside can make you believe it's mid-winter. The Welsh Rarebit is toasty, melty heaven. A pub lunch on the half-shell (a.k.a. the "Wee Three" on one plate... aye, smaller versions each of shepherd's, chicken pot, and steak & mushroom pies) is all a wee bit more than wee and a bang-on fierce fair play! A cold brew martini and a pint o'the black stuff can help you work through minding your manners when the entertainment is on.  Need to practice your swan song? So do some of the folk on stage. The wee folk say if the black swan spreads its wings your way while making a bags of it, order up another pint for sharing.

Yelp
Love it, great food, board games and songs. But if I would add a song it would be "Another Irish Drinking Song" by Da Vinci's Notebook.

Yelp
After looking forward to going to a quality pub in my hometown for quite awhile, I was disappointed in my first and maybe only MMD experience. When we arrived to see the Austin Lounge Lizards show at a little after 6 (show started at 7), the place was empty - wife and I were the only 2 patrons. But the place had the feel of an Irish pub - very small but nice. We arrived early to have a few drinks and some good Irish fare. I ordered an old fashion while my wife tried some foo foo drink while we decided what to eat. My wife ordered the fish and chips and I ordered mini meat pies with fries. Our food came out hot and fresh - I KNOW it was hot because the server dumped the fish in my lap - but the original waitress never came back to see if I would like another 2 ounces of old fashion. The meat pies came out in 3 little ramekins - the shepherds pie was the best, the beef and mushroom had really tough chunks of mystery meat, and there was one small piece of chicken in the chicken pot pie. They forgot my fries and brought me a huge basket of fries shortly after I finished eating - thanks! The service was bad and the food was not what I had hoped for. And don't get me started on the Lounge Lizards - we left after an amazingly long first set.

Yelp
First time I had been back in ages... I live on the NW side so just don't make into town much. Service was great, drinks were good... saw Christie Lenee and she do not disappoint. Great show.

Yelp
The fish and chips were okay but definitely not worth $22. Not sure why or who charges 22 dollars for fish and chips

We've been to the 'Mucky Duck' several times over the years. It's a great little venue for a variety of musical artists. We've seen Sisters Morales here many times and have always had a great time. The food here is pretty good and they have Harp Lager on draft too (always a plus) I'd like to see how it is on St Patrick's Day! The only nit-pick I have is that they crowd the room too much with tables and chairs You can barely move.

Yelp
I am giving 3 stars because I have not had the opportunity to physically go into this location and I have only ordered food to my home from here, but my biggest takeaway was this place was way too expensive for the amount of food received. I tried ordering the cottage pie but my order was canceled so I decided to try the chicken pot pie instead, and man was that a mistake. If anyone is familiar with the standard pot pie size from Boston market, it's significantly smaller than theirs and costs a whopping $20.00! The meal was awful and had this strange coppery taste and to be honest I'm a little scared to try anything else on the menu. If I do end up giving it another shot, I will happily come back here and leave a new review which is hopefully a better experience but as of right now I am in no hurry to get food from this place again.

Yelp
Excellent outdoor seating. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, the Mac and cheese, a naughty or nice (winter cocktail), and the orange dreamsicle. It was on the pricey side, but the quality was great. There is attached parking The Mac and cheese was buttery with breadcrumbs on top. Very tasty. The pulled pork was filling and we got a side of homemade potato chips. The drink was STRONG. They do not skimp on the alcohol here. It was delicious! Orange creamsicle was like fresh squeezed orange juice with some coconut. Very yummy. Our waitress (I believe her name was Gwendolyn) was so attentive!

Yelp
If you want to try real Irish style food with a great Irish pub feel this place is the best. They apparently have a big live music scene in the evenings, but I've never seen it. Check this place out.

Yelp
This is a GREAT music venue - one of the best in the Houston area. As an artist and an audience member, I will forever love the respectful, captivated listening environment, and the delicious food. The staff here is wonderful; they're very kind and consistent, so you can count on familiar faces when visiting. My favorite sandwich here is the Mark Portugal - it's turkey, melted cheese, avocado, mayo (I think), and bacon on a delicious bun. It isn't described on the menu, but it's worth the surprise! I also love the Baked Brie. Concerts are happening at the Duck again, and - trust me - it means so much to artists when people come out to support them at their shows. So come out and enjoy good food and wonderfully refreshing music at the Duck!

Yelp
This is one the most bias places I have visited. The staff did not treat us with respect. We would of loved to have the opportunity to enjoy this place however the micro aggressions we experienced left a bad taste in our mouth.

Yelp
Hi. I'm not typically a yelp reviewer, more of an instagram enthusiast. . Anyway. I grew up thinking beer either came in a can labeled BUD or LITE. 5 years ago I decided it was time to branch out, I mean, the darkest beer I'd ever had was Shiner Bock. On a recommendation, I was told to "visit the Duck, they have the best Guinness this side of the Blarney Stone". I thought it would be like a Compound of molasses and coffee, but you never ignore advice from a random guy named Seamus. The Ducks' Guinness was smooth and bold with a striking tan head, I was hooked. Long story short, I've had 673 Guinness pints (the true imperial pint) since then. I visit the duck when I want to relive my first time, the perfect, consistent Guinness pour. My visit this past week was no exception. The Guinness flowed like wine and we all made good decisions after. The Guinness here is so smooth and refreshing. If you're not having a genuine Guinness, please have a Bushmills Red Bush. You will not be disappointed. Food was A+. Had the Chicken Chunks, best Mac and cheese ever, and the Texas BLT minus the T. Back Patio is one of the true gems in the city. Support Live Music

Yelp
Any place that serves Belhaven on tap gets 5 stars from me. Forgot all about this place - the We Three is a nice meal and atmosphere is great for live music.

Yelp
It had been awhile since we've been here. Noticed some Yelp reviewers that were disappointed they couldn't talk and laugh during performances. I'm happy to see this move because we come to see and listen to the performers. Call us old fashioned but it seems disrespectful to attend a musical event and act as if your conversation is more important than the music. Mucky Duck is a wonderful place to see live music. If you don't want to watch/listen to the artist(s) then maybe find a different venue for your loud conversation.

Yelp
We stopped by on a whim and I'm so glad we did. First, the patio was amazing, loved the atmosphere. The food was incredible. Lots of flavor and fun dishes. Our server, Garrett, was knowledgeable and so helpful. I would recommend this spot for anyone wants to just relax and have an upbeat space.

Yelp
If you want a *very* intimate show, Mucky Duck is your best bet. And you're gonna get great service at that - from the bartenders and waitresses. Those ladies know how to work the floor and keep the drinks flowing all night long. Mucky Duck is the spot for any country, folk, Celtic, various tunes on song writers nights; and you can also catch dinner. For the may-ja downside ... here's my short list: It was so ... soooo ... sooooo friggin hot at this last James McMurtry show in August. I'm normally freezing (what can I say, my blood's a bit cold), so I rarely get hot. But I had to step away from the concert twice to cool off in the ladies room - and it wasn't even a full house! It was awful. Mucky Duck, please crank up the a/c. Tickets are more than affordable, but the $5 service charge per ticket is stupid. They don't mail your tickets, they don't even print them for you to pick up at "will-call" so you can put them in your concert ticket binder (I'm a nerd.) Basically, you're paying the venue more money to put your name on a piece of paper. I'm not a cheap-o, it adds up when you're buying multiple tickets. Why pay $20 for advanced tickets plus the extra $5 service charge when you can just pay $22 at the door? Bring cash if you purchase tickets at the door.

Yelp
Legendary place for live music and chill vibes. We went on Valentine's Day and they served a 4 course dinner that was actually legit considering this is an Irish Pub. Great place to grab some beers and take your date. Very good vibes and historic to Houston.

Yelp
My first visit to the Mucky Duck. While I really enjoyed the food, there were a couple of things I was totally unimpressed with. 1) The ambitiously priced pint of Guinness $7.50 per. Should be no more than $5.00. Rip off the tourists, not the locals. 2) The open-mic night, and the considerable lack of talent on display. You represent the pub as being Irish. Tell me ... in what Irish Pub are you going to find a bunch of no talent shite kickers, acting like they're on Star Search, American Idol, The Voice, or some such. 3) The lack of a bar maid, or waitstaff. To escape the noise inside we went out on the "patio" area. After draining my pint, I was looking for the bar maid, to order a refill ... not to be found. Finally had to go inside, when I mentioned the lack of staff to the barman, he simply shrugged it off without a word. Doubt I'll be back.
