Peckham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Peckham and Peckham Rye - Eater London

"M’Chomo started, as many barbecue joints do, with a particularly skilled uncle wielding the tongs at home and suspecting that his food is better than everybody else’s. The pandemic coaxed many of these uncles into putting their money where their mouth is, which is how this Ugandan takeaway opened right at the apex of Peckham Rye in the autumn of 2020. The menu is short but makes full use of the serious piece of kit in the back, a beautifully embossed custom grill on which chicken, pork, and best of all, goat, is introduced to the coals and become infused with smoke, with a pale-pink mantle that runs round the face of each piece of meat. Make sure to get their mild chilli sauce on the side, either with white slabs of ugali, an East African staple intimately known by many Indian families who came through Kenya or Uganda, or, better still, chapatis to wrap the meat." - Jonathan Nunn

A gem in Peckham, delicious roast spot. Great value for money — good potion size and delicious food. I cannot wait to go back and try other dishes. Very YUMMY — it’s great to see a Ugandan business doing well.

Banging! Cruising around the neighbourhood looking for fish and chips but they were all closed. Went to M'Chumo as a last resort, and was very pleasantly surprised. Chicken was super tasty and I'd recommend the rice above chips, so flavoursome. It was also very nice to have service with a smile! (So many surly takeaway owners, these guys were cool) Did I mention great value?... Will definitely be back and looking forward to it.

Very tasty food and great quality/price option. I had a grilled pork meal with spicy rice. The pork was juicy and very well cooked, fantastic grill flavour. The spicy rice was great, quite a good combination of spices on it. The size of the meal was very good, I'm a hungry guy and I finished quite full. The guys were very friendly and nice. Great service. I'll stop again next time in Peckham to try to grilled goat

Awesome and authentic home food here. I ordered the pork and pilau rice. The pork was incredibly smoky and flavoursome, reminding me of the street stalls of Accra, Ghana, where sellers grill goat and chicken in a dry, spicy rub. The service was ace as well! I thoroughly recommend this place and I’m looking forward to returning. A must if you’re in Peckham or Nunhead!

Went to get takeaway lunch today. Got a chicken meal with potatoes, and pork meal with rice. The meats were juicy and nicely cooked. Everything had good flavour. The rice was "spiced rice" on the menu, it wasn't "hot" so it was perfect for me who can't take chilli. Really nice food and friendly staff, I'd go back again.

Best food sooooooo worth the money. I can’t remember the last time I wrote a review like this, But I must say I’ve taken a few bites and had to stop just to leave a review. This is how appreciative I am. I actually just want to say thank you this is the best African food that I’m guessing everyone has been dying for. Definitely will be giving you guys a shout out when I’m next on radio. Just amazing! Keep it up and I promise you we’ll be seeing M’Chomo go global.

Finally found something I've been searching for. Ugandan Pork. This place is about 1.5hours away from where I live, but I'd make that journey every day if time would allow. The food is awesome, authentic grill flavour, meat is tender and packed with flavour. Chipatis are perfect. Staff friendly and service is quick. Thankyou for bringing this to the UK
