The Best Breweries and Brewpubs in Bend, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Twenty-four McMenamin locations have breweries, including Bend’s Old St. Francis School. The six-barrel brewhouse sits below the pub and won the 2024 Craft Beer Awards Small-Size Brewery of the Year. Its Bamberg Obsession took gold in the coffee and smoke beer category at the Oregon Beer Awards. But the whole range of beers complements dishes from a new chef who came in two years ago. The cellar masters steak and mushroom bites mix beef ribeye with button mushrooms in Black Rabbit red wine demi-glace with a side of horseradish sour cream, with the perfect cool bite that plays off the meat dish and is wonderfully washed down with a light and fruity Ruby Ale. The pub is comfortable and welcoming, with Grateful Dead music playing in the background, a place to hang out either inside in the winter or enjoying a summer day on the patios. It’s located a block outside of downtown." - Barb Gonzalez

The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Bend, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Set in a former Catholic school near downtown Bend, the main building of McMenamin’s Old St. Francis Pub is adorned with aged wood railings, paneled walls, and quirky light fixtures, creating an inviting backdrop for breakfast diners. Like the atmosphere, the food is casual but well-prepared. The Workingman’s corned beef hash stands out with its big chunks of beer-braised corned beef, caramelized onions, potatoes, and bell peppers (which can be omitted if desired). A bite of the simple vanilla French toast showcases attention to detail in its balanced spices and is served with real maple syrup. McMenemin’s, being extremely accommodating, takes reservations and also has an online waitlist to put your name in ahead of a visit. Takeout and delivery are also available." - Barb Gonzalez

Interesting place, and people love collecting their complete visits of all of their locations. They make it fun to be there with a wide range of novel themes and locations. This location has a secret entrance to a Speak Easy, and I won't reveal the location. They have their own brewery and the flight of beers we had were not outstanding, but there is a good variety. The food was good, the Cajun spicing of fries and tots was really a nice addition. It's upwards of $20 to get a meal, but you're paying for the place and atmosphere.

After a lively night at a concert, our group of six wandered into McMenamins in Bend without reservations, hungry, loud, and, if we’re being honest, a little over-enthusiastic from the evening’s “adult beverages.” We were fully prepared for a wait or for chaos, but instead, we were met with one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Our server, Raven, was nothing short of incredible. She welcomed us with an easy smile and an unshakable calm, even as we rattled off orders full of modifications and last-minute changes. She handled each request without missing a beat, making us feel like valued guests instead of a post-concert inconvenience. Her timing, attentiveness, and humor were exactly what our rowdy group needed. The food arrived faster than expected, and impressively, all at the same time. The two pizzas were hot, perfectly baked, and generously topped. The burgers were cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor, with fries that were crisp and golden. The pretzels with cheese were warm and soft, with a rich, savory dip that disappeared quickly from the table. The fish and chips were fresh, flaky, and piping hot, while the salad was crisp, colorful, and clearly freshly prepared. Every plate was spot-on in temperature and presentation, which is no small feat for such a varied order. By the end of the meal, every one of us was beyond satisfied, not just with the food, but with the atmosphere, the friendship, and of course the outstanding service. Raven’s professionalism and personality elevated the entire evening, turning what could have been a late-night scramble into a perfect ending to our night, and she even took time to take our picture.. If you’re in Bend, on a Bender like us post-concert, or just passing through, McMenamins is worth a stop. And if you’re lucky enough to have Raven as your server, you’re in for a treat.

Google
Food was pretty good, but service and atmosphere was amazing. We let our server surprise us. He brought the kamikaze tuna appetizer which was our favorite. The steelhead was top notch. Elk burger was delicious. Cajun Tots were a bit over-spriced.

Google
Pretty spacious McMenamin's in a good location with a lot to offer. The menu is standard for this chain, and offerings can be rather expensive, but food is delicious and filling with sizable servings. They have super tasty signature Cajun Tots, and I'd also recommend the sliders. The place is clean with a good atmosphere. Service can be on the slower side but waiters are friendly and helpful. Overall a good place to get food and drinks, where you can hang out with friends.

Google
Stopped in for brunch while we were in Bend for the weekend. Zero wait time, even on a Saturday, and had great service. All the food was great, but the blueberry pancakes stole the show. Big, fresh blueberries and fluffy, homemade pancakes. That alone was worth the trip. Second prize goes to those seasoned potatoes.

Google
It's a McMenamins, if you've been to one before you should have a pretty good idea what you're going to get, but if you haven't... The food is good, and reasonably priced. Fairly easy to keep it under $30 a person. Service is good, nothing to write home about, but certainly nothing to complain about either. Solid selection of drinks, and a nice atmosphere. A great spot for a casual sit-down meal.

Google
Everything looked and tasted great, the staff was a little busy, so service and food took longer than normal.

Google
It was so much fun to explore this place 💛 You must get the passport($35) from the reception(front desk at hotel) and get all the stamps to win a prize! With the passport, you can go to all other McMenamins in Oregon and Washington to explore, get stamps, and win prizes!

Yelp
Had such a great dinner. Everything was perfect from the seared ahi, Cajun tater tots, truffle fries, sliders, salads and loved my pear sidecar. What a delicious time! The service was fabulous. Super helpful. I always love the style of the McMenamins. So whimsical and unique.

Yelp
My friends and I went to McMenamins for dinner during our Oregon road trip. I ordered the Jamaican rice bowl with bbq prawns and loved it. It was very tasty, had distinct flavors, and contained an assortment of ingredients. The restaurant was dimly lit and had a unique ambiance, being part of a hotel that used to be a school, with an old rustic feel. The price was a tiny bit on the high side, but not by much, and the food took a bit of time to arrive, but overall, I don't have complaints.

Yelp
Delicious food with excellent service. Always crowded on weekends. However they always find us a seat! Love the new seasonal drinks.

Yelp
I just got off of work on the railroad at 7am, door dashed eggs Benedict to my hotel room. To my dismay, no hollandaise sauce. What the heck, how does that even happen? It's eggs Benedict. Literally the hollandaise sauce is what makes it eggs Benedict. Now I'm just eating a poached egg with Canadian bacon, and an English muffin... dry.

Yelp
Came for lunch today. Service was slow. Food was just okay. I wouldn't go back. It's pricey for what they serve. My husband had inedible chili for his side. Atmosphere is cool but maybe just for drinks and not a meal.

Yelp
1. Coolest place, reno'd old Catholic school 2. There is a map of the campus 3. Did the one hour soak in the hot tub- bring your ID! There are coat hangers inside the place if you want to bring your bag of stuff so it does not get stolen 4. A secret speakeasy with the craziest entrance on the third floor! Use the map to find it 5. Service is so so 6. Didnt have any food but you have three different options

Yelp
It is located on the quieter part of downtown Bend. This is a very old building that now houses a wonderful bar and restaurant where I enjoyed sitting outside in the garden area having a nice cold cider on a warm afternoon. Service was very good even though we went to the bar to make our beverage purchases. The inside bar is pretty small, so they don't mind if you take your drinks to the outside tables.

Yelp
When we planned our trip this year, this was one of the first things we added to our must-visits and were thankful we did. It ended up being maybe the highlight of the entire trip, and made me a fan of wanting to try other McMenamins locations in the future. For those who don't know, McMenamins is an older brewery that buys old properties for conversion into inns for travelers or places where people can expect a consistent quality each with its own touch. This location in Downtown Bend used to be a Catholic School with many buildings, so it fit them perfectly. All the old exteriors look the same, with a mix of changed indoor décor but with an older vibe. It was cozy, every part of it we went to. The real draw for us was the heated indoor pool; it's $10 per person for an hour, locker rooms are provided and kept clean, bring your own towel. The pool was amazing, with old tile, fountain, open air ceiling I heard is amazing when it snows, and the freedom to bring your own drinks in to enjoy while you soak. It's for relaxing and talking, not swimming. They also have a theatre for live performances and movies. The main section is the restaurant, with booths and bar seating a like. Downstairs under the bar is the brewery, a smaller set up but producing beers for on-site consumption. They also have beers on tap from other McMenamins locations. At the back (and where you pay to use the pool) is the hotel check in desk - they also have rooms you can stay in, which I'm sure is fun. On our visit after the heat of the pool, and being a sunny cool day, we opted to sit outside in the sunshine near a fire pit. Their tater tots are famous, so we got a big plate of those, plus hummus platter, and other foods. I had a flight of beers, trying one raspberry that was celebrating its birthday that day but wasn't my favorite. As far as beer goes, their stuff is average but not bad; but you really aren't coming here just for the beer anyway. It's also part of the Bend Ale Trail, code is near the lobby desk. Simply, if you're visiting Bend, this is a must stop for anyone; have a meal, have a soak, have a drink.

Yelp
Stayed here and ate heretwice. The food is so good and the atmosphere is so groovy and relaxing. Great beers too. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
What a TOTALLY charming place! We were looking for somewhere to stay near the heart of downtown Bend, on a weekend getaway, and chose a room here. I couldn't be happier - our room was clean, inviting, cozy and... well it was just perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect for walking to galleries, restaurants, or around the local neighborhoods. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Cool place with nice outdoor seating area. We didn't really know where to go to be seated for the outdoor bar (which was confusing and a little frustrating) so we ended up sitting outside and being served by the restaurant staff I believe. Which was fine, but we weren't there for food. However we did get some Cajun tits which are always good. My wife and I both ordered the "Island Time Margarita". A nice blanco tequila with pineapple juice, fresh lime and plum infused rimming salt. It was refreshing and amazing. Our waiter was also very nice. A nice guy who had previously worked up at the Raleigh Hills location by where we are from. 8/10 the waiter was great, drink was great, menu looks better than our local McMenamins up here. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very unique and old school vibe, which is very cool and interesting. The beer and food were great. Would love to catch a movie there sometime!

Yelp
The hotel is cool with lots of arts (paintings and sculptures) and history. The parking on the property is not super challenging to find. We got the parking spot almost everyday we were there (Thursday to Monday). The only day we could not find available spot in the property was Sunday but luckily Sunday street parking was not enforced. The three buildings for the rooms to stay are uniquely interesting. We got the room with two bath tubs in the main building that also has reception and the pub. The room is huge and the bathroom is the same size as the bed/living room. The complementary morning coffee and tea is nice and conveniently located in each building. We walked around the other two buildings, art and education, in the morning and found all secret rooms. The paintings and stories on the wall are wonderful and interesting. The soaking pool is really beautiful at night. The movie theater has wonderful art pieces and sculptures. There are many places to drink and eat within the property but mostly open after 3 pm. They (including downtown Bend restaurants/bars) are so busy on Friday night but we could not hear anything when we were in our room. The location is conveniently located at the end of downtown. We were able to walk to all coffee shops and restaurants throughout the day. It is not far from Deschutes river walk and we enjoy walking along the river.

Yelp
Quirky. Nice property with outdoor dining & relaxation space. Slowest bartenders on the planet. Maybe it's just me though...maybe. Went late June 2024 for a wedding & reception - which the space was great for, and the staff made it an exceptional experience for the party. The reception dinner was fab. Good selection on a buffet of tasty alternatives. The rooms are converted classrooms or bedrooms (in my case) and can be spacious and comfortable, or a bit cramped. Mine was the latter, but clean and functional. I see some mentioning the noise, but my room was quiet all night long. Soaking tub is big, warm, and a nice place to unwind, though is might get busy sometimes. Would recommend giving this place a try for food, drink, or a night or two. Crazy expensive.
google avatar

Chanel T.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Cajun tots and peppercorn ranch. The bartenders are great in the small fireside bar. Love all the different types of restaurants, bars and hidden speakeasy's. We stayed for a few nights and were very impressed. Comfy rooms. Local coffee brewed up fresh every morning. Soaking pool was a must with a glass of champagne. Only downside is sharing the pool with non-guests but that doesn't last all day. Finished our nights at the outside fire pits with a hot toddy. Cheers!
google avatar

Martina C.

Yelp
I will go ahead and say that it would have been a 4/5 if we had good service. We were there at the end of June and this was our first stop from Portland on the way to Sunriver. We were all hungry and wanting to relax and get into vacation mode. We sat for a LONG time waiting for everything, which would not have been big deal if they were actually busy. Overall, there were two employees there who seemed to want to be there at all. One guy was SUPER nice and walked us in because I couldn't figure out how to get inside from the courtyard we ended up at after our Passport hunt. The hostess was also nice. Our server seemed uninterested. I used to be a server and had I been the one to pay the bill, instead of my husband, I would have left a few dollars. Maybe 10%. It was JUST THAT bad.

Yelp
Such a fun place!!! Ask for the secret doors and for sure make it to the soaking tip that has open air

Yelp
I love it here--comfortable beds, great soaking pool, and terrific courtyards with fireplaces. It's quiet and wonderful to stay here and enjoy Bend's mountain air. Always good service.

Yelp
The beer and vegan burger were yummy. Plus, my dogs were allowed to sit on the patio with me. The waiter and staff were very friendly.

Yelp
Two days in a row!!!! It that good. This company has 60 historic sites they have restored to dining & hotel facilities. Marvelous building & these ridiculously good Trevor's. No shit.... Tater tots. Fried chicken sandwich & albacore tuna sandwich. Top notch waiter made it perfect. Great stop. Plan ahead to try their fare. .
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
McMenamins has a ton of reviews and I have nothing significant to add other than my rating. I like the main pub for bar sitting and the Fireside pub for a quieter, more intimate setting. There's also the significantly smaller O'Kane's Cigar bar and the tiny Broom Closet, if you can find it. Fireside, O'Kane's and Broom Closet have their own Yelp pages, by the way.

Yelp
We came here after skiing at Mt. Bachelor, and it was a good lunch! We had the truffle fries as an appetizer and they were absolutely delicious!!

Yelp
Solid bar food & snack choices to fuel a game of shuffle board. Lots of places to explore at this location including the hidden wizard bar. Friendly service.

Yelp
This place never misses. I've been here so many times and never have a poor experience. Last Sunday we'd ordered pizza from 10 Barrel through the Toast app and when I showed up to pick up, they said they'd marked the order as complete because they couldn't reach me and were all out of food...disappointing, but not really their fault or the end of the world. McMenamins came through though! With 35 mins until closing after promising my family pizza, they threw together two large pizzas and a salad and were super kind and gracious about it. Just one of many times they've impressed us! We took it to-go, but the ambiance is always great and so is the food!

Yelp
We were exploring Bend OR and we were getting hungry. As we drove by McMenamins Old St. Francis School we agreed to try it. After two trips around the block we found a parking space. Upon walking in I was struck with the feeling that this place has a lot of history and stories to tell. The entryway and restaurant were comfortably dark, almost romantic. The restaurant was almost empty. We were seated at a table by a window overlooking a nice garden. Our waiter was very professional and helpful. This being a brew pub, I ordered Ale-Battered Fish and Chips. My wife ordered a burger. One look at that burger made me think that I had made a mistake. I will order one of those next time. I love beer-battered fish and chips. This was very, very good. The prices were reasonable; but, high enough to place it outside one of my regular restaurant choices. We will be wandering back to McMenamins Old St. Francis School a couple of times a year. Also, I want to check out the live music scene.

Gary C.

Yelp
After a significant wait time for our table, our meals took a very long time to be delivered. Greek salad was terrible! It takes a lot of talent to screw up a Greek salad. Burgers were over done, no one finished their meal. Avoid
google avatar

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
It's hard to believe I've never reviewed McMenamins because I've been coming here for years and this is my favorite location. There is so much to do here, the possibilities are endless! Smoking cigars? Soaking pool? Movie? Fire pits? Secret bar? Specialty cocktails? Beer and cider? Amazing food? It's all here! I love the ciders here, especially the blackberry. The Cajun tots are out of this world and will always hold a special place in my heart (and stomach). I love the ambiance here and all the activities it has to offer. I won't give away where the secret bar is but it's worth checking out ;)

Nathan B.

Yelp
I would say my experience was not great. I was so excited to fill out my passport only to have them not honor my room or what I was supposed to get. I traveled to Portland to use my passport benefits and they basically completely screwed me over. I was excited to have a great time in Portland and was seriously disappointed....
google avatar

Mac M.

Yelp
The best part about this McMenamins was my waitress, Mila B. She was fast, efficient, pleasant, etc. I really want to love this place but the placards were sticky and there was food debris everywhere, sadly common.
google avatar

Cindi Sue C.

Yelp
What a fun experience! So many different areas to eat, drink and hang out. My friend and I got a drink and walked the property looking at all the secret rooms and buildings. I loved the different vibes each building/area had. All the outdoor fireplaces were great and really helped us to keep warm while enjoying the outdoor patio areas. After wandering and drinking our libation we decided to go into the restaurant to eat. We decided to sit at the bar so we could sit down immediately and not have to wait. I ordered the Cajun tots which came highly recommended. I wasn't so sure why so many people raved about them. Well now I can tell you! They were scrumptious! They were cooked perfectly crispy and the Cajun seasoning was sooooo good! The tater part of the tot wasn't chunky but a perfect consistency. It was also served with a wonderful peppercorn ranch. YUM! If you go don't miss out on them. My friend ordered the burger with tots and he said the burger was cooked perfectly, was juicy and had great flavor. The size was substantial and he even took half for his lunch for the next day. I am so excited to plan on future visits to more of their properties.
google avatar

Odulami B.

Yelp
While the meal was consistent with other McMenamins, the service was by far I've experienced in the franchise. From the hostess, to the barkeep to our server; the hospitality and friendliness was above the mean. This location sits on a bustling corner in downtown Bend and offers plenty of access to activities within walking distance.
google avatar

Carl M.

Yelp
We love this place!! There is always something happening here! We recently celebrated half way to St. Patricks Day, OktoberFest, and went in for the first day of October for a spooky little day.. Brian at the main bar is great! He's engaging and hard working and always smiling. Kayla at the front desk is super friendly, but Dan in the Broomcloset is top notch! His craft cocktails are so good.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
I had a great time at McMenamins in Bend with my parents tonight! Food was great, especially adjusting the hummus plate with gluten free bread. I tried a fun whiskey cocktail called the Monkey Punch which was really good! Rachel, our waitress, was sooo nice and friendly too. A great spot overall!
google avatar

Bret P.

Yelp
Good hamburgers, quick birthday dinner for a friend! Pie was good for desert, service from order to delivery, it was over 40 minutes. Crowded on Christmas eve, 20 minutes wait for a table. Need to add a reservation service! Food is well cooked, right to desired medium, medium well. Menu has been shortened! Fries are crisp or tatter tots.
google avatar

Jenni R.

Yelp
Quick service for a couple drinks. Had a hot toddy and an old fashioned. I like the ambiance and art of McMenamin establishments. Food is usually mediocre all around at other McMenamins so we just opted for drinks this time.
google avatar

Jason I.

Yelp
This was the 1st mcmenanins location we've visited. They really set the bar here. Checking into the hotel was beyond simple, quick and they made it fun. The staff were phenomenal, the room was very nice and clean. The food was tasty and the drinks were great. The morning coffee was great. I would definitely return to this location and suggest it to all my family and friends

Yelp
I've lived in the PNW for over five years and I had never visited a McMenamins until very recently on a ski trip to Bend. They have a bunch of locations in WA and OR and many of the locations are old historic buildings that they have repurposed into brewpub/restaurants. This one in Bend used to be an old Catholic school. In addition to being a restaurant, there's also a hotel and movie theatre and other bars on the campus! It's really cool! We went for dinner and sat outside (there were heating lamps). It was the week of St. Paddy's day, so they had a St. Paddy's day menu which included Irish Stew, which is what I ordered. I also ordered a blackberry cider from Edgefield Winery, which is also part of McMenamins (it was delicious). The Irish Stew was really good and it was also filling. It came with soda bread. We also ordered the Canjun tots (delicious) and the fondue (delicious). The food was good and the service was great. After dinner, we digested our food by walking around the campus and looking for a secret bar called the Broom Closet (we found it! It was cool!). I'm a fan! Now I want to visit all the McMenamins locations!

Jacob C.

Yelp
Management is unfriendly and overwhelmingly inflexible. They are unwilling to work with customers to give a quality experience. I would recommend people take their business elsewhere. will not be returning. two thumbs down
google avatar

Matt E.

Yelp
One of my favorite McMenamins locations, this was the first one I visited, close to twenty years ago. They have done a great job of refurbishing this historic school campus, with some fantastic features. The Pub is my favorite place to dine, with a very cool overhead shelf for spirits. The copper bar top is a great idea, as well. I ordered the Mystic 18, without realizing that it is a plant-based burger. I thought it was fantastically delicious; would definitely order one again! The Broom Closet is definitely worth a visit as well. Plan to spend plenty of time exploring all the great art here.
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
It's a cool spot in an old school, so definitely gets bonus points for that. It's also a hotel so when we're sitting outside there was a number of people waking through from the pool and activities. But the outside was a nice little courtyard. We came with a large group 10+ people and they were easily able to accommodate us. The Cajun tots are awesome; highly recommend! The service was a little underwhelming but not sure if that's just because we were such a large group.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
It was so hard for me not to give this place five stars. The ambience, beers, property, and staff were so amazing. The food menu though just didn't work for us too well. My husband and two kids are vegetarian and while my husband was able to find something that he could order the kids menu was another story. I have never seen a kids menu without a vegetarian option besides salad. Cheese pizza, quesadilla, grilled cheese - something. We were handed a kids menu that also had breakfast on it - which had pancakes. I ordered those only to find out that the breakfast items were unavailable - however there were no times on the menu indicating breakfast was served between certain hours which bummed out the kids. The waitress then suggested a salad for them (and trust me - I wish my kids would eat salads but at 3 and 5 they just aren't there yet) we politely declined and instead ordered a cheese pizza off of the main menu. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Loved it. We walked the grounds for a bit after lunch and had fun. This place - however - is more fun without the kiddos and maybe next time we find ourselves in Bend and without the littles we will stop by and enjoying the adult only bars located throughout the property.

Yelp
This is a tough one. The ambiance and atmosphere is what you expect from a McMenamins. The service was also what I'm used to and expect too. The food and the price of the food was really wanting though. The burger was good, but the fries aren't the fries you get at a Portland McMenamins. The tater tots weren't the same either. It was kind of a bummer. But it was fun to walk around the grounds/school.

Yelp
Booked a staycation during winter break, one night. The room was tastefully done, yet the carpet under the window, and going out about 2 feet was very wet, weird. The bed was a bit too firm for us, as well. The food in the main restaurant was as good as we expected. When we transitioned to the cigar bar, that was not as expected. We ordered 4 Old Fashioned. It tasted like straight liquor and the server was not her best. She was having a hard time tracking our interaction and what I was saying. It was not loud in there. I told her I would be right back to collect the drinks, as I was going to take water out for us outside. When I went back in, stood at the counter, she mentioned to her co-worker, as I was standing there right in front of her waiting for the drinks to be completed, "where did the lady go?" I told her I'm right here and she seemed dumbfounded, questioning if was actually her. Saying something like she didn't have her hood up on her coat, I stated yep I did and still do. Her co-worker looked perplexed at her response, as well. Took drinks outside. After one sip of my drink, I couldn't drink it anymore, neither could 2 of the 3 others I was with. I returned the drinks and let her know they tasted like straight alcohol. She mumbled an excuse, only offering to make it the exact same way, not a credit, nor offering a different drink. As a former bartender, waiter, and cocktail waitress over 2 decades of experience, I was exceptionally disappointed in this experience. She was so uncomfortable to deal with, I just let it go.

Yelp
Every time my boyfriend and I have been there, the bartenders treat him like trash. Example: we were there having dinner and enjoying our night, talking and he was being so sweet and kind to me per usual. The bartender came over and took his drink away and cut him off. My boyfriend respectfully left, and I stayed to close out the tab. I asked why my boyfriend was cut off and the bartender said he was slouching and acting drunk. I asked a few people at the bar if my boyfriend seemed drunk or bothersome and they said no, not at all. It was extremely rude and this is the second time he has been treated poorly there. Never coming back to Mcmenamins.

Yelp
Too expensive and bad service and food overall - probably the worst McMenamins restaurant I've been to in Oregon. We came here for lunch over the weekend to check it out, expecting to get the same standard food and service as other McMenamins in the PNW. The restaurant was not busy, however, it took two hours to have lunch here. We waited over an hour to receive our food after ordering. The food was not great - cost $23 for a fish and chips lunch that ended up being a child-size portion (2 very small pieces of fish and a small portion of fries that is not worth more than $10). Very disappointing soup as well - the ingredients tasted old. Our server got us the wrong cider in our sampler order, and also did not show me my bill before collecting payment. When I asked to get a copy of the receipt, I realized (15 minutes after paying which is how long the waitress took to get me a paper copy of the receipt) that she charged me for the wrong plate - and for a more expensive sandwich! Waitress did not come by to check on our meals or for refills on drinks the entire time. By the time we discovered that we were overcharged, we were tired of waiting for anything we asked so we didn't even request the difference.... Our total bill for 2 meals + 1 soda + cup of soup + cider sampler was $62 before tip! By far the most overpriced and underwhelming experience I've ever had at a Mcmenamins. Will not return and strongly do not recommend - not sure what is going on with the restaurant.

Yelp
Atmosphere here is 5stars and pushed this place up to 3 stars from 2. Bldg w stained glass, beautiful woodwork and the fire pits are worth the trip. Pizza was solid-but available elsewhere so not a stand-out. The "red wine blend" is undrinkable-stay away! Service is seriously lacking-we used to own a bar so maybe our standards are higher. While two guys stood at the bar register discussing that the till was $20 short, two guys at the bar were waiting to order drinks for over 10 minutes! Now there were only 5 people around the bar!! So glad we came here once to see the bldg but will not be a regular so many other places to choose from!!

Yelp
We stay here every time we come to Bend. Their ADA room is so great We always eat and drink at the pub then putter back to our room around the corner. The staff is great. The rooms are not fancy, the emphasis is on charm. Be aware that the street side rooms can be a bit noisy on the weekends if that bothers you. Otherwise, have a little laugh and think about the amazing French toast you are going to order in the morning. Shout out to Ryan in the dining room. Excellent service. And the ahi was epic! Almost too pretty to eat. Almost!

Yelp
The food could have been better, the atmosphere is always loud as all get out. The service was strange as our server kept forgetting where we were and walked by with our drinks, food and even just water. Almost as if we didn't matter. I got the burger, it was dry as heck...never order again. That's for sure. I'm disappointed in McMenamins...I've never had a bad meal at one until this day

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -McMenamins Old St. Francis School located in Bend, Oregon is another great restaurant in the regional chain. -I always like to order their famous tater tots & blackberry cider & so should you! -This location is an old elementary school converted into a cool hotel & restaurant. Overall, I always enjoy checking out a new McMenamins whenever I visit different towns in Oregon.
